Dinner, River cruise, and a show for $100. Definitely worth it!! Sine we were first in line at the buffet, the prime rib was pretty dry. It was still tasty. For my second round at the dinner buffet, it was superb! I got my prime rare, with baby carrots, broccolini, nice side salad, and fresh horseradish with a kick! The food was better than I expected for a buffet. The interior was very cool. Love the old school architecture. Wait for my review on the show. We sat on Table 65. It was Tier 2. Tables 51 and above are better seats only because you are not as crowded and you have more room to move about. The tables in front of the stage are best for the show. You may even get a personal lap dance. Jk. There is not a bad seat for the show though. Post #2: the show was outstanding! From Johnny Cash, Shania, Toby, Garth, Reba, Ray Charles, Dilly, Elvis, Aretha, I can go on. I even knew the Swiftie song. The singers/performers did a fabulous job. A must see. Overall, 4.5. It was greater than a 4 and less than a 5.

We came here for a special NYE event, and it was an absolute BLAST! We didn't have any of the negative experiences others described. We sat in the top balcony straight across from the stage and had a great view of the stage. For this event, there was no buffet, but a set menu and the food was brought to us. There was plenty of food and it was good (I just didn't care for the filet - it was kinda like a thick version of a tv dinner Salisbury Steak, but the goat cheese salad was great, and the veggies and crab cake were all really good! The chocolate cake at the end was layered with mousse and that was pretty great, too). Our server was SO fun and sweet and helpful, and kept us posted on when we'd be downtown to be able to step out and check out the fabulous downtown views from the river. The selling point do this event was that there was a dance floor set up in front of the stage. We danced like crazy while the amazing band played - they really were fabulous!!! It was all the music you'd expect to hear at a wedding or something, and they mixed in a bunch of slow songs with the fast, dance ones. It was really fun, and they played some classic group dance songs when the band took a break. There was a toast at midnight and they released balloons, too! I thought it was pretty great that the band played for another half hour after docking, so there wasn't a mad dash to the doors. It was so much fun and probably the best NYE celebration I've ever attended!

A great Nashville To-Do rather visiting or living in the area. Great entertainment, good drinks and food. I'd recommend the day show over the night show, but the food offering for dinner is better than the lunch offering. Definitely get your ticket!

Photo of Caroline C.

The food does not include a vegetarian option. Nothing but high carb side dishes. No proteins. A below average experience that is trying to collect extra money at every turn. Would not recommend. Expensive. And not inclusive.

This showboat is the final boss of the touristy things you can do in Nashville. BUT- it is incredibly fun. The food, the view, the entertainment. It's worth going at least once. We did the Rollin' on the River evening show and the performers were very talented. I was riveted to my seat the entire time. I loved the virgin strawberry daiquiri I got and props to my husband for bringing the souvenir glass back in one piece in his carry on! Shout out to the random guy in the trees along the dark river bank who screamed at us and revved a chainsaw. We got a good laugh about that. Remember to bring cash to tip your waitstaff!

riverboat nashville tennessee

Took the afternoon lunch cruise. The food is served buffet style and it was just ok. Loved our table and seats at table 16. Would not choose the captain's table, not worth the upgraded price. The one hour show was very entertaining. I recommend this activity - it was a clear day and cruising on the river was beautiful and relaxing. My friends and I agree it was a good choice and worth doing when in Nashville!

riverboat nashville tennessee

I was a little worried because I get seasick and the girls aren't excited about boats. However, this was all of our best boat experiences ever! Everyone that we spoke to was friendly and kind. The kids were just talking about how much they missed salads now that we were not in California, and our first course was a Caesar salad. The kids loved that chicken nuggets were an option for the little kids meals. For the adult meals, the chicken was tender and succulent and the crab cake wasn't too salty. The drinks were so large that when my glass was empty, I was able to put both of my hands into the glass and there was still room for 2 other hands. The service was attentive, and we found out that we were the only ones at our shared table that tipped the waitstaff at the end which is just something that thoughtful people should think about. The ship was so fun for the kids to wander around and look at the large paddle as it makes ripples in the water as we move past. The mild 70 degrees Fahrenheit weather was also a plus for our leisurely walk around the deck. The show was so fun! The kids were dancing when they were listening to music that they never heard before. It was just a wonderful experience that we would love to try again.

The boat was a great tourist thing to do. I definitely recommend for a group outting or celebration. Location behind the mall with free parking was great idea.. they offered pictures before getting on the boat, buffet style dinner two meat choices, carb, vegetable and a salad. The food was plenty and warm and delicious. We sat and waited till the end to get our food not to have to wait in line and it was a good choice there was still plenty of food. Long line for the bar. We lucked out with great seats by the stage so we didn't feel crowded. They did a great Christmas show I left like i was on a cruise line vacation. Nice view of downtown Nashville. You didn't even feel the boat moving. I definitely enjoyed it for an excuse to dress up and go out. We even mer some wonderful people at our table.

riverboat nashville tennessee

A very cute activity complete with dinner and a show! I would say the at the boast could use some upgrades to really help elevate the experience. I was disappointed that the boat was broken today and I had just a dreadful view of dock. The staff was amazing 5 's and I really enjoyed the salad and my mixed drinks! The general dinner food I would say was largely bland with the expectation of the crab cakes.

riverboat nashville tennessee

This one was definitely worth the trip. For the price, you get a cute cruise ship style show, a very well done buffet, you do sit at a table with others (I love that, my husband not so much, LOL) a beautiful paddle boat ride along the Cumberland. The pulled pork and potato salad were both fantastic. My hubby really enjoyed the macaroni and cheese. The show was a tribute to Nashville legends. It was cute and very entertaining. We watched about 1/2 of the show and went outside to get a couple of cocktails and walk around the boat. The entire thing is about 3 hours, which really is a good value for the money paid. I would recommend it, and if we were in Nashville with strangers, I would definitely bring them on this .

Reviews From Our Guests

It’s a great way to get off Broadway and still have some good ‘ole Nashville fun!!! Seriously so much fun! Beautiful views, awesome crew, clean bathroom and great music.

My bridesmaids surprised me with the boat cruise for my Nashbach! It was the best time ever! Highly recommend this event for any group looking to spend an evening partying on the river!

Went on the pontoon saloon for my bachelorette party. We had a blast!! There were multiple parties with us and we all danced together. At one point we were playing limbo with a broomstick. I do recommend getting there earlier to secure a good spot on the boat. Plus, having the bathroom on board made life so much easier.

We had a team meeting (12 people) in Nashville and took an evening cruise on the pontoon saloon. It was the perfect choice for a group activity as they had dinner and beer as we cruised the Cumberland River. Awesome views of the Nashville skyline!! Andrew was great!

Pontoon Saloon was a great experience! The owner and staff are super cool, the boat was clean and roomy! It was a beautiful day on the Cumberland River even in November! We had a big group, so did the private tour! Highly recommend!

At this Nashville sail camp, kids learn the ropes of teamwork, friendship and fun

riverboat nashville tennessee

The shifting wind nearly made Rex Jackson capsize. He acted quickly to reposition the swaying boom on his sailboat and shift his weight around to stay upright.

"I'm just having a little technical difficulty!" the 8-year-old said with a confident smile to Tracie Hosse, who was keeping a watchful eye in a nearby boat.

After an hour or two on the water, Rex seemed entirely unfazed by the episode as he shed his life jacket and grabbed some lunch. Hosse, who oversees the camp, said the boy took quickly to sailing in just a few days, alongside 27 other children attending Summer Sail Camp at Harbor Island Yacht Club on a warm, sunny mid-June morning.

The camp runs weekly throughout June each year for kids ages 7-17, with small dinghies, known as Opti boats, for beginners, along with larger Laser and RS sailboats for more experienced campers. Volunteers, coaches and instructors also fan out on the water in kayaks and motorboats to help the kids along, challenge them to games and teach them how to navigate.

The club is situated just north of Nashville on Old Hickory Lake, which feeds into the Cumberland River. Hosse said they stick with three guiding principles for camp: safety, fun and skills. The team makes sure the kids take away more than sailing knowledge and skills from each camp. They instill the values of respect, camaraderie, leadership, gratitude and care into them, among others.

"Communication is huge," Hosse said as she manned the outboard motor on one of several "coach boats" in the water. "If something breaks, it's OK. You get to tell somebody. Somebody can fix it, we can replace it, we can repair it."

Last year, she even took a few sails that tore when boats got tangled up on a dock and turned them into bags for the students.

Instructor Emery Sonsino, who turns 16 this month, was a camper for four years before she joined the staff. The kids can volunteer for the camp at 14, get a paid position at 15 and become a paid instructor the year they turn 16 after undergoing rigorous training and passing a test. She said the camp gave her confidence to problem solve on her own.

"I was taught to think on my own and think on my feet quickly," she said.

One of her favorite parts of camp is when the counselors get to race while the kids watch. Another highlight is getting to see the kids apply the things she and others are teaching them and have fun on the water. Case in point: She proudly talked about 11-year-old Sam Pollard quickly recovering after his Opti boat "turtled" that morning, meaning it went upside down.

For a minute, Sam said he worried something broke.

"It was only a capsize," Sam said as he excitedly recapped the experience.

Hosse said watching the kids enjoy the simpler things at camp is also a joy to her and others. She pointed to kids trailing their hands in the water as their partner steered the boat, or others giggling as they practiced "hiking," or leaning their body in the direction of the wind to keep the boat from leaning too far one direction. She also loves seeing the kids become friends and learn to work together.

"It restores my faith in humanity," she said.

Nashville Zoo welcomes new piglet

Nashville Zoo welcomes new piglet (Photo: Nashville Zoo)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — The Nashville Zoo has welcomed a new red river hog piglet this month.

The female piglet is the second red river hog birth at Nashville Zoo. The new piglet, named Tot, was born around midnight on June 14 to first-time mother, Tater.

The Nashville Zoo says Tot is improving quickly after a shaky first few days.

"She wasn't nursing from her mother and became pretty lethargic," said Nashville Zoo Veterinarian Louden Wright. "We made the decision to move her up to the veterinary center ICU where she was warmed and rehydrated. She responded well to the treatment and is now being bottle fed by the animal care team."

The zoo will hand-raise Tot to become an ambassador animal representing her species after a period of time because she is unable to properly nurse.

Those visiting the zoo can see Tot at the HCA Healthcare Veterinary Center.

Red river hogs, also known as Potamochoerus porcus, are native to the rainforests spread across west and central Africa. The Nashville Zoo says they have an identifiable red coat and usually wallow in rivers and streams. Addtionally, the hogs have an omnivorous diet which includes roots, fruit, seeds, nuts, birds, eggs, insects and more. Red river hogs are also a social species and routinely live in groups with up to a dozen individuals.

Red river hogs are not considered endangered, but Nashville Zoo works with

While red river hogs are not considered endangered, Nashville Zoo works with various organizations throughout their native range in Africa working to save wildlife and protect habitats. To learn more about Nashville Zoo's conservation efforts, go here .

Riley Strain's autopsy results reveal Missouri student drowned after excessive drinking

June 18, 2024 / 6:03 PM EDT / CBS/AP

Riley Strain, a University of Missouri student whose body was recovered from a river after going missing in Tennessee's capital for nearly two weeks, died from accidental drowning and intoxication, according to a newly released autopsy report.

News outlets report that Davidson County Medical Examiner's office released Strain's autopsy report Tuesday. The autopsy states that Strain's blood alcohol level was .228, nearly three times the legal limit for driving. He also had delta-9, a THC compound, in his system.

Strain, 22, was last seen just before 10 p.m. on March.  He was ordered to leave a bar  in downtown Nashville, where he'd ordered one  alcoholic drink and two waters, according to the bar's management company. He briefly interacted with a police officer shortly after leaving the bar, while walking along a street that runs adjacent to the Cumberland River.

riley-strain-nashville-pd.png

A search was quickly launched, with just small clues available to help investigators trying to find him, including finding his bank card along a riverbank and using surveillance footage to track his final moments. The debit card was discovered on the riverbank by two community members more than a week after Strain's disappearance. The massive search  also involved airboats, hovercraft and individual community volunteers.

University of Missouri officials said in a statement that Strain was traveling to Nashville to attend a private event.

Strain's body was recovered from the Cumberland River about 8 miles west of downtown on March 22. No foul play was suspected, investigators said.

Autopsy reports Riley Strain died accidentally from alcohol poisoning, drowning

by Sydney Keller, Kelly Avellino

Riley Strain was a senior at the University of Missouri and majoring in finance. He went missing on Friday, March 8, 2024 from downtown Nashville after being asked to leave Luke Bryan's bar on Broadway. He was visiting Nashville with his fraternity brothers for a convention. (Photo courtesy Riley Strain family)

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WZTV) — The death of college student Riley Strain has been ruled accidental after his autopsy report was released Tuesday.

The University of Missouri student, 22, went missing from downtown Nashville on March 8 after being asked to leave Luke Bryan's bar on lower Broadway for intoxication. His body was later recovered from the Cumberland River, about 8 miles from downtown Nashville, 14 days after his disappearance.

FOX 17 News obtained an autopsy from the Davidson County Medical Examiner stating Strain died from drowning and ethanol intoxication, also known as alcohol poisoning. Metro Nashville Police Department says the autopsy report confirms the findings of the investigation conducted by the department's missing person detectives.

A large amount of fluid was detected in Strain's lungs, and MNPD’s investigation found the 22-year-old consumed multiple alcoholic drinks at different businesses after arriving in Nashville.

Strain's blood alcohol content registered 0.228, which indicates a level of intoxication where someone would be disoriented, needing help walking or standing while also having very impaired sensory functions. Small amounts of nicotine and THC were also present.

A shirt, undershorts, socks and blue watch were present when Strain's body was found. There were no shoes, jeans, belt or wallet. Riley had been wearing cowboy boots that night.

However, there was no significant trauma or broken bones detected.

MNPD's investigation founds Strain was separated from his friends and was "noticeably impaired" walking onto Gay Street adjacent to the Cumberland River on the night of March 8. Detectives came to the conclusion that Strain did not realize the terrain conditions and steep embankment leading to the river while stumbling in the dark.

Metro Police say he stepped toward the overgrown area and fell down the embankment into the water, adding the river was very high that night with a swift current because of recent rain.

Strain’s family told FOX 17 News they are reviewing all the results, including those of a private autopsy which they had conducted.

This comes as a preliminary autopsy reported " no evident signs of trauma to his body ." After Tuesday's autopsy, MNPD is now officially classifying Strain's death as accidental.

Since Strain's tragic death, there's been a push to make Music City more responsible .

NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) — Riley Strain, a University of Missouri student whose body was recovered from a river after going missing in Tennessee’s capital for nearly two weeks, died from accidental drowning and intoxication, according to a newly released autopsy report.

News outlets report that Davidson County Medical Examiner’s office released Strain’s autopsy report Tuesday. The autopsy states that Strain’s blood alcohol level was .228, nearly three times the legal limit for driving. He also had delta-9, a THC compound, in his system.

Strain, 22, was last seen just before 10 p.m. on March 8 after drinking downtown. A massive search was quickly launched, with just small clues available to help investigators trying to find him, including finding his bank card along a riverbank and using surveillance footage to track his final moments.

University of Missouri officials said in a statement that Strain was traveling to Nashville to attend a private event.

Strain’s body was recovered from the Cumberland River about 8 miles (12.8 kilometers) west of downtown on March 22. No foul play was suspected, investigators said.
