AIR Specifications

Luxury yacht AIR has her exterior designed by Remi Tessier in conjunction with the yacht’s owners. The artwork has been creatively used to decorate her interior, working harmoniously with the yacht's design.

Air yacht's interior is large and spacious, in the common areas such as saloon and dining room, and these flow naturally outside through the large window and open doorway to similarly generous outdoor entertainment areas on aft and sundeck. At 81 metres in length, and with a beam of 11,6 metres, there is plenty of space on this outstanding vessel.

Yacht Charter Accommodation

Accommodation on board AIR comprises seven beautiful appointed staterooms. The main deck offers a master suite with a king-sized double bed, his and her bathroom with a shower and bath each, as well as his and her dressing room. On the same deck, there is the very spacious VIP suite with a double bed, en suite bathroom with a shower and a bath as well as a dressing area. The bridge deck features two guest staterooms; one to Portside and one to Starboard. The Portside stateroom has a double bed and a shower, while the starboard stateroom has a double bed with a bath and shower. The lower deck boasts further three guest staterooms, including two with a double bed and shower and bath, and one twin stateroom with a dressing area and a shower.

The flying megayacht: Italian designer devises exclusive catamaran blimp

The aerospace industry is currently living through an era of innovation, unlike anything it has seen in recent years. From drones and air taxis to sea gliders and new clean propulsion technologies, it seems that the floodgates of creativity are wide open following decades of slow but steady incremental advances. Even airships may be about to stage a comeback .

This passion for innovation is encouraging entrepreneurs from across the globe to propose ever more outlandish concepts — one of which is the eye-catching Air Yacht, a hybrid vehicle that looks like a crossover between an airship and a catamaran.

This futuristic aircraft is the work of Italian designer Pierpaolo Lazzarini, founder of Rome -based Lazzarini Design Studio, which has designed a number of innovative projects for the automotive, yachting and aerospace industries.

Composed of two large parallel blimps linked together by carbon fiber bridges that hold the whole structure together, the amphibious Air Yacht would be able to move almost seamlessly through the air and water. Passengers and cargo would travel in a rigid, aerodynamic cabin between the two blimp structures.

This levitating contraption, which would be powered by hydrogen and solar power from its rooftop panels, would be able to reach speeds of up 70 knots (nearly 81 mph) when flying and 5 knots (almost 6 mph) when sailing, its designers say.

The choice of hydrogen is an interesting one, as other recent airship projects have opted to use helium instead of hydrogen.

Asked about this decision, a spokesperson at the design studio said it opted for hydrogen due to its larger lifting power, which makes it possible to limit the volume of the blimps. Despite hydrogen being flammable, current technologies and materials make it possible to use the gas safely and securely, the studio says.

While the original concept measured a whopping 265 meters (869 feet) long and was capable of carrying 200 passengers, the latest iteration is much more compact at 100 meters (328 feet) long. (Presumably, it would have a somewhat lower payload, too.)

The Air Yacht has a stated flying endurance of 48 hours, and it is being designed to allow for boarding and deboarding while on the move. Helicopters would be able to land on a helipad located on top of the cabin to drop off or pick up passengers, the studio says.

Given the limited number of travelers with access to helicopters, it's not surprising that the aircraft concept is targeted at wealthy individuals as a flying megayacht of sorts. The luxe cabin design features a shipowner's suite that occupies the central space and provides 360-degree views. Additionally, there are five smaller suites, plus a large area for lounging and dining.

Although Lazzarini Design Studio has yet to secure investors for the Air Yacht, the studio is moving forward with testing a 30-meter (98-foot) scale model in Germany later this year.

There will likely be some unexpected challenges in this next phase of the Air Yacht's production journey, and only time will tell whether this latest aircraft will help spark a renewed interest in airships.

AIR’s onboard entertainment system is state-of-the-art, while the spa and steam room are among the finest to be found on a superyacht. Her huge split-level master suite with separate observation lounge is one of the finest master’s to be found on any superyacht. 

Designed by Remi Tessier, the interior décor aboard AIR is contemporary with a minimalist charm. Highlights of sycamore, leather, stainless steel, onyx, and off-white and black limestone, are combined with curved glass detailing throughout. Expect muted whites and greys with natural wood, and accent pieces in mirrored or decorated glass finishes. 

AIR accommodates 12 guests in seven large and luxurious staterooms. Her unique owner’s observation lounge provides views over the eight-meter-long pool on the vast main deck forward area. She also has a VIP stateroom, four double staterooms and one twin. With accommodation for up to 21 crewmembers, charter guests are guaranteed a relaxed, luxury experience.

The redesigned lounge will have about 8,600 square feet of livable space that can accommodate 10 to 40 guests, depending on the configuration. The company is looking to sell its airships to different operators around the world, who can then specify the interior layouts.

The company has fabricated prototypes for many subsystems, says Hoddé, with the first full-scale prototype serving as the first airship. He declined to specify when the full-scale version would be ready, but initial flight tests are planned for 2026, and after modifications, it should be commercially available two years later. It will be operated with hybrid propulsion (with the goal of running on emissions-free hydrogen power by 2030) capable of a maximum altitude of about 10,000 feet, with the capacity to remain fixed in one place so guests can enjoy prolonged views of specific areas. It is designed to remain autonomous for a week but a top speed of 50 knots means it can cover long distances.

AirYacht’s newly designed elevator allows 12 passengers to disembark at a time, so the airship can do scheduled events while afloat. The open design of the interior is intended to promote social interaction between guests, with dining areas, two bars, and multiple spots to take in aerial views. But guests will also have privacy in the spacious ensuite bedrooms. The ship is designed to accommodate a 12-person crew and three pilots.

The AirYacht (not to be confused with Lazzarini’s bonkers flying superyacht concept of the same name) is not without competitors. Airlander 10 airships from Hybrid Air Vehicles (HAV) are also designed for the tourism market. The U.K. company expects the airship to be certified in 2026. It will be able to carry approximately 130 people and cruise between 50 and 70 knots. It also has a luxury configuration with large suites and fewer guests.

Israel-based Atlas LTA Advanced Technology is also touting its long-range Atlant 30, which accommodates 20 passengers across 10 suites. Its design team says it will be ready to fly in 2026.

Google cofounder Sergey Brin’s LTA (Lighter Than Air) Research outfit is also moving ahead with its Pathfinder airships, though it’s not clear if it will have passenger-carrying capacities.

“Pathfinder is a case where someone is willing to take a risk and has all the necessary capital,” says Brandon Buerge, an associate professor with the Department of Aerospace Engineering at Wichita State University and veteran of three airship programs. If Pathfinder is successful, Buerge told Robb Report , it could mean sizable investments in the sector for applications such as cargo and regional travel.

The AIR yacht was interiorly designed by the famous Remi Tessier , who started his design career training as a cabinetmaker for over seven years.

Now, he has transitioned and applied all his learnings in yacht designing and has been the one responsible for some incredible yachts. 

One of these yachts is the Squall yacht; a 53-meter yacht delivered back in 2002; She can comfortably travel at cruising speeds of 10 knots and go up to 14 knots.

Another of these yachts is the PARSIFAL II, a charter yacht that can readily welcome up to 10 guests at a time and can be attended to by six qualified crew members.

Designed for entertainment, the AIR yacht lacks nothing in the amenities department. She has a full-blown gym, a swimming pool, a beauty room, an elevator, an impressive movie theatre, a jacuzzi, a spa room, and a commercial helipad.

She also has full air-conditioning and internet connection throughout the yacht.

Adding to this, she has access to tons of toys on board. Guests can choose from a plethora of activities they can do, such as riding in one of their jet skis, kayaks, scuba diving equipment, water skis, wave runners, and even inflatable water toys.

The AIR yacht currently spans 265 feet or 81 meters, has a beam of 38 feet or 11.6 meters, and a draft of 11.8 feet or 3.55 meters. She is built with a steel hull, along with an aluminum superstructure. 

Although she weighs a hefty 1,893 tons, her powerful twin MTU engines partnered with her jaw-dropping 177,000-liter fuel tanks, she can easily cover a distance of over 5,000 nautical miles and can cruise at speeds of 15 knots, and can even go up to speeds of 17 knots.

AIR superyacht was engineered by famous designer Henri de Voogt, who started his passion for yachts by participating in races.

They are now famous for their creative exterior yacht designs and have been involved in several yachts such as Bliss and Viva.

Bonkers: a look at lazzarini's concept 'air yacht'.

To fly or to sail? That's the question. At least, it was. The futuristic Air Yacht allows you to fly and sail in the most luxurious way possible.

Italians are renowned for being at the forefront of design innovation . The new "Air Yacht" concept, developed by the Italian design studio Pierpaolo Lazzarini, is the latest proof of this incredible capacity. As the name suggests, the new Air Yacht is both a yacht that can sail the sea and a private jet that can fly its owner across the world. Let's have a closer look at this astonishing piece of futuristic design together.

The structure of the Sky Yacht

It might sound like sci-fiction, but it is true. Or, at least, the blueprint is already a reality. The Italian design studio Lazzarini has developed a luxurious and eco-friendly flying yacht. But what would it look like?

Imagine a 150-meter-long vessel connected by four bridges to two side blimps for a total width of 80 meters. Each of the two floating blimps would be divided into hives, or cells, acting as helium compartments. Indeed, when the private owner of the Air Yacht wants to take to the sky, all they have to do is release helium, compressed in tanks, in the two blimps.

On the other hand, when the owner is tired of seeing the world from above, they can decide to sail the sea. Indeed, in the lower part, the two balloons incorporate inflatable bases to allow the Air Yacht to float on the water. The depressurization of helium and its ballast anchor enables the Air Yacht to sail at a speed of five knots.

Four counter-rotating engines of 950 horsepower (hp) each are attached to the outer sides of the blimps. These are powered by ultra-light batteries and solar panels, allowing the Air Yacht to fly at a maximum speed of 60 knots for more than two days straight at zero emissions . Additionally, the entire structure has been designed to be built using carbon fiber, a high-strength and lightweight material.

With the use of helium, lightweight batteries, solar panels for the propulsion of the four engines, and lightweight carbon for the structure, the Air Yacht is at the forefront of sustainable air travel. In a statement, Lazzarini design studio stated:

"With the Air Yacht, there is a way to sail the sky without emissions damaging the future"

The Sky yacht's living spaces

If the external structure of the Air Yacht has the 'wow' factor, wait until you see what's inside...

The central, 80-meter-long, torpedo-shaped structure hosts a spacious living room and a dining room. Four carbon-made bridges, two on each side of the main structure, connect it to the two side blimps. Here, the owner's guests can find ten en-suite staterooms, five in each balloon. All ten suites offer breathtaking 360-degree views. The owner's master cabin, shown in the photo below, is instead located in the Air Yacht's central part, also offering a stunning 360-degree view.

Therefore, the Air Yacht can host up to 22 guests in 11 cabins. On the rooftop, guests will enjoy a swimming pool, while a helipad enables helicopters to take off and land to transfer the owner and their guests to the dry land. Indeed, the Air Yacht's dimensions prevent it from being parked at a marina. Besides the helipad, the Air Yacht also features a retractable staircase, allowing the guests to board a smaller boat to reach the harbor.

The estimated price of the Air Yacht is a whopping $627,511,500. Pierpaolo Lazzarini has promised the private owner who has commissioned the Air Yacht, a German businessman, to have a first-scale model prototype lifted in the air by the end of 2022. Additionally, a series of varying designs with different lengths is in the early phases of the engineering and prototyping process.

Jeff Bezos and Lauren Sánchez are taking Greece by land, sea and air.

An isle spy tells Page Six that the power couple has been seen on Mykonos, where helicopter pilot Sánchez was spotted taking a whirly-bird for a spin off the duo’s boat, which is filled with “toys,” y’know, like choppers.

Said the fellow traveler: “Jeff was seen coming from the city center in Chora ” — as the tony town is called by locals and in-the-know visitors — “and getting on and off his helicopter onto his smaller support boat.”

The couple was also photographed strolling through the streets of Mykonos hand-in-hand.

The source further said that, “Lauren has been seen flying a helicopter on and off their support boat, where they keep all their toys . . . helicopters, speed boats and other water toys.”

The source also told us that, “Jeff’s keeping the super big boat they live on, on the other side of the island where there is less wind.”

The source was referring to the couple’s famous $500 million superyacht , Koru, which they debuted last summer. Building of the mammoth vessel for the Amazon tycoon began in 2018.

Bezos also reportedly owns a “smaller” $75 million yacht, Abeona, which shadows his bigger boat . (One boat blog explained the concept: “In car terms, this is basically the same as buying a Porsche so you can drive to the garage where your Bugatti is parked.”)

The little ol’ support boat can accommodate 45, including 20 crew.

AMOC Capital Region Unit Opens New Ashburn Location

WASHINGTON —U.S. Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Air and Marine Operations (AMO) held a ribbon-cutting ceremony for the new location of the Air and Marine Operations Center (AMOC) Capital Region Unit (CRU) in Ashburn, Virginia.

“We’ve moved facilities, we've changed names, but we have a new facility that is going to continue to enhance domain awareness in the air for the National Capital Region,” said Clark Lanzendorf, AMOC Director. “The new AMOC CRU facility allows for growth for new missions and increases Air and Marine Operations’ ability to meet new threats as they emerge.”

The AMOC CRU began in 2003 in the aftermath of September 11, 2001. The unit is responsible for protecting designated airspace in and around the National Capital Region and other designated special flight zones. The CRU conducts air surveillance, detection, identification, monitoring, coordination, and reporting as part of AMO’s Domain Awareness Security Operations mission.

With approximately 1,800 federal agents and mission support personnel, 240 aircraft and 300 marine vessels operating throughout the United States, Puerto Rico, and U.S. Virgin Islands, AMO serves as the nation’s experts in airborne and maritime law enforcement. AMO safeguards the nation by anticipating and confronting security threats through its aviation and maritime law enforcement expertise, innovative capabilities, and partnerships at the border and beyond.

In Fiscal Year 2023, AMO enforcement actions resulted in 1,004 arrests and 89,909 apprehensions of undocumented individuals, as well as the seizure or disruption of 256,883 pounds of cocaine, 2,049 pounds of fentanyl, 4,050 pounds of methamphetamine, 2,200 weapons, and $15.3 million.

Marine captains honored for saving a man’s life in the Dallas airport

Two Marine pilots recently received commendation medals for their quick reaction that helped save a man’s life while they were waiting on their flight in the Dallas Fort Worth International Airport.

Capts. Steven Maire and Joseph Carey were traveling home to California from the Marine Aviation Readiness and Operations Summit in Dallas on May 23 when they noticed a man collapse near the ticket counter, the pair shared in a Marine release .

“I was checking in for my ticket and I saw him on the ground and realized something wasn’t right,” said Maire, an AH-1Z Viper pilot and a Cleveland native. “That’s when [Carey] saw him and started heading over to him, then I followed.”

Carey, an MV22B Osprey pilot, didn’t see any medical or emergency personnel. The Hanover, New Hampshire, native realized he and his fellow Marine captain were the closest people who could help the man.

“We just got down on the floor with him and started to figure out what the problem was,” Carey said.

Marine corporal gets medal for saving drowning teen while on leave

After jumping into the river in his t-shirt and shorts, cpl. jacob cogswell battled a strong current to bring the teenager to safety..

The two pilots, currently assigned to the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, made their initial assessment. The Marine expeditionary unit is part of 1st Marine Division and recently participated in the bilateral U.S.–Philippines Exercise Balikatan.

“The man wasn’t responsive and was very tense, so at first I thought it was a seizure,” Maire said. “We’re pilots ― not medical professionals ― but we remembered what we’ve been trained to do and just helped.”

The pair realized the man wasn’t breathing and likely had suffered a heart attack.

“He was unresponsive and not breathing for long enough that he started turning blue,” said Carey, describing the man’s face and lips.

Carey began chest compressions, part of cardiopulmonary resuscitation while the man’s wife gave periodic rescue breaths.

An airline official brought an automated electronic defibrillator.

“He had a very weak pulse, so when they brought over the defibrillator, I immediately hooked the leads up to his chest to use it,” Maire said.

Carey cleared the area before Maire used the automated external defibrillator to administer the first shock. When there wasn’t an immediate response, he used a second shock and more chest compressions. The man slowly awakened.

“When he came back, that was a huge relief,” Carey said. “It was just great to see what we did worked.”

At about that time, paramedics arrived and took over care of the man from the Marines.

“I’m glad someone was able to be there and help him, but it was very surreal,” Maire said. “One minute we were getting our tickets, then we were reacting to this situation, and then it was over, and we were worried about getting to the gate to catch our flights.”

On June 10, in front of 200 fellow Marines of Marine Medium Tiltrotor Squadron 165 (Reinforced), 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit, at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar, California, the Marine expeditionary unit’s commanding officer, Col. Sean Dynan, presented the men with the Navy and Marine Corps Commendation Medal .

The medal is awarded for acts of heroism, meritorious achievement or service ― one notch below the Bronze Star Medal and Meritorious Service Medal when combat is not involved.

The colonel noted how the captains’ fast actions embodied what he sees as the role for the entire unit, to be ready to deploy to crisis or ready to “be somebody’s hero” by those in need.

Squadron commander Lt. Col. Drew Bossart shared his thoughts also on his Marines’ heroism at the ceremony.

“Their quick thinking, exceptional teamwork, and unwavering commitment to the safety and well-being of others epitomize the core values of our Marine Corps,” said Bossart.

“They’re true leaders who didn’t hesitate to take charge of a surprise situation and begin fighting to save someone’s life, and I’m extremely proud to serve with them and recognize their lifesaving efforts.”

MILAN — The Italian Coast Guard was searching by sea and from the air on Thursday for dozens of people missing when a boat capsized and partially sank earlier this week in the perilous central Mediterranean , 195 kilometers (120 miles) off the Calabrian coast, officials said.

The partially submerged boat was still in view, but the commander of the search operation said no bodies were in sight.

A fishing boat was the first to respond on Monday after the boat capsized and rescued 11 people, one of whom later died. Six bodies have also been recovered, and survivors say some 60 more are missing.

Survivors reported that the boat motor had caught fire, causing it to capsize off the Italian coast some eight days after departing from Turkey with about 75 people from Iran, Syria and Iraq on board, according to the U.N. refugee agency and other U.N. organizations. They included more than 20 children.

A spokeswoman for Doctors Without Borders said the survivors have suffered both psychological and physical trauma, and “remained very confused.”

“They have been hospitalized ... and don’t yet know who in their families is alive and who died at sea,’’ said Cecilia Momi, in charge of the group’s humanitarian affairs. “Entire families are destroyed. Some lost a wife, some lost a child, a husband, a friend, a nephew.”

In another incident Monday, the charity rescue ship Nadir rescued 51 people from Syria, Egypt, Pakistan and Bangladesh and transported them to Lampedusa. Another 10 people on the same smugglers boat were found suffocated to death on the lower deck.

The deaths bring to over 800 people who have died or went missing and are presumed dead crossing the central Mediterranean so far this year, an average of five dead a day, the U.N. agencies said.

The International Red Cross said that the incidents are “another testament to Europe's failing approach to migration and asylum , which prioritizes walls and deterrence over humane welcome.’’

Russian Defense Ministry on what happened at the Dyagilevo and Engels airbases

Details: The Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation stated that on the morning of 5 December, Ukraine "attempted to carry out strikes with Soviet-made jet unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs) on the military airbases of Dyagilevo in Ryazan Oblast and Engels in Saratov Oblast".

The Ministry said that the Russian air defence system allegedly intercepted Ukrainian UAVs flying at a low altitude.

At the same time, the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation reported that "as a result of the fall and explosion of the fragments of jet drones on Russian airfields, the body covering of two aircraft was slightly damaged ", and "three Russian servicemen of the technical staff, who were at the airfield, were fatally wounded ".

Four more Russian servicemen were injured.
