How SILENT-YACHTS has quietly helped fuel a sustainable revolution

“I see what we are doing at SILENT-YACHTS as being like what Tesla did in the automotive industry,” says chief marketing Franz Böse. “They started developing an electric car when no one else in the world thought it was a good idea. And just look now. Our founders did something very similar.”

SILENT-YACHTS is a disruptor in the superyacht industry, firmly set on a mission to spark a green revolution with its fully electric yachts. While other yards have been slowly – and, some might say, belatedly – investigating the possibilities of introducing alternative drive-train solutions, SILENT-YACHTS ripped up the blueprints for what a yacht could be.

Like at Tesla, the SILENT-YACHTS team didn’t want to compromise in chasing their objective. They wanted to combine the noiseless cruising and unlimited range of a sailboat with the comfort of a motor yacht. To have true ocean-crossing capabilities and virtually no need for maintenance. To allow luxury self-sufficient yachting to truly go hand in hand with nature.

And the result is a line of seven solar catamarans ranging from the SILENT 60 at 18 metres to the SILENT 120 Explorer at 36.7 metres. On each one, solar power is used for propulsion, powering all navigation, household and comfort appliances (including AC) and for charging toys and tenders. When the sun isn’t shining, power comes from state-of-the-art lithium batteries charged by photovoltaic modules on the top and middle deck roofs. There is no diesel motor lying ready “just in case” (although there is a diesel regenerator to top up the batteries if needed).

“The boats run very efficiently because right from the start we intended them to be solar electric boats,” says Böse. “You can live 100% from the solar energy. It’s quieter, more stable and you can do everything you want. You are also more independent – you have watermarkers, you can be out at sea for a very extended period of time. Our catamarans offer an environmentally friendly approach plus the opportunity for maximum freedom.”

SILENT-YACHTS has seen a change in owners becoming increasingly eco-conscious. “Most of our customers drive electric cars, they have solar panels on their houses or their company buildings, they are tech people that have a different mindset,” Böse says. “They are striving for a better future and are interested in something different. I am sure there will be customers who might get pressure from their children, who say ‘Dad, you can’t have a yacht that burns that much fuel’.

“Most of our clients understand this is the right approach to yachting and how the future will be like.” And younger owners themselves are interested because they “don’t see motor yachts as an option for them because they know how much diesel and fuel big boats can consume”, he adds.

As awareness of climate change continues to grow, the yard believes the tide is turning in the industry. “The market is growing, interest in and enquiries about our boats is increasing,” says Böse. “We have customers that used to own a big sailing yacht or motor yacht but now they want a more relaxed and environmentally focused approach to yachting. Our niche will further grow; every year the slice of the cake will get bigger. Regular diesel catamarans will become outdated and unpopular. I am convinced they will die because eclectic cats have so many advantages.” He predicts a switch to electric boats in the smaller size ranges, too, once there’s an improvement in the charging systems

SILENT-YACHTS has sold more than 50 solar catamarans so far, with about 25 boats in build. By 2025, it expects to be producing 25 a year. Of its models, the 60 is the most efficient because it’s the smallest. With any new technology, there are bound to be some humps in the road. Böse admits that in port or on anchor, the 120 can run 100% on silent electric for a long time but might have more need of the diesel generator to add to the propulsion from time to time.

SILENT-YACHTS’ green revolution is already starting to positively affect the wider industry, Böse believes. “We are convinced that what we did a decade ago, when SILENT-YACHTS was founded, ensured the industry started to change. Now we are seeing new companies opening with similar boats and big shipyards beginning to invest in alternative drive-train solution. And we welcome that transition. It was always one of our main motivations.”

The yard has plans to expand its offering, but for now it is – true to the brand name – keeping quiet. As Böse adds: “We will for sure enlarge our range – in which direction and with which boats we will keep a secret for now.”

Flagship: Silent-Yachts to boost global production with restructure and partnership

silent yachts gmbh

The electric catamaran builder Silent-Yachts has rebranded as Silent-Group and is boosting global production capacity to meet soaring demand, after forging a new partnership with VisionF Yachts. Last year the company sold a record 21 yachts, with 17 more in production this year.

a spokesman tells Superyacht Investor.

The Austrian-owned company builds fully electric solar-powered catamarans spanning the range 60-120ft (18-36m).

Speaking last year, Silent-Yachts founder and CEO Michael Köhler, said:

To meet this demand the company has expanded its production capabilities with an additional 100,000 sq m (1,1m sq ft) of construction space across two continents. The builder can now draw on three production facilities around the world. Its shipyard on Italy’s Adriatic coast has five construction sheds with 22,000 sq m of covered space and about the same area outside for building the Silent 60 and Silent 80 series.

Silent-Yachts also builds the Silent 60 in the Swiss-owned and managed PMG Shipyard in Thailand. This yard has a 20,800m² facility in Rayong, on the country’s east coast on the Gulf of Thailand. The facility has dedicated areas for each stage of the production process.

A new partnership with Coşkun Bayraktar in Turkey, founder of the Viaport Group has delivered more production opportunities. Bayraktar owns VisionF Yachts in Istanbul and is focusing on the production of the Silent 60 series, 80 series and 100 series plus the new Silent VisionF 82. Construction of each series has begun at Tuzla Viaport Marina (pictured above), where the builder has more than 100,000m² of production area.

Production sites on two continents helps the company mitigate supply chain challenges, according to the spokesman.   he said.

The partnership with VisionF also showcases the company’s willingness to help other manufacturers reduce their vessels’ dependency on fossil fuels by incorporating the proven solar technology, said the company. In partnership with VisionF, Silent-Yachts is building a 82ft (25m) hybrid yacht that incorporates both conventional and solar propulsion systems.

But Silent-Yachts has not proved immune from the supply chain problems arising from the global pandemic.  “As with any other company, we have experienced a certain degree of supply chain issues due to the many delays caused by the pandemic. Overall, however, we were able to keep them at the minimum and have our facilities running at their maximum capacities within relatively short periods of time,”   said the spokesman.

The company is reorganising into seven divisions: Yachts, Tenders, Management, Charter, Brokerage, Resorts and Shop.

Köhler said:  “We are now a truly international group with diverse interests requiring more extensive resources and production space. This enables us to collaborate with other shipyards such as VisionF to assist them in harnessing solar technology as a step towards a more sustainable future.”

Silent-Yachts, the shipyard is ready for rebirth under new ownership

silent yachts gmbh

Silent-Yachts, a shipyard specializing in building electric catamarans, has overcome a period of financial difficulties by emerging under new ownership . With a renewed management team and access to new financing, a solid growth strategy covering the next five years has been put in place.

New major shareholder Michael Said is a German-American investor and customer of Silent-Yachts , with a Silent 62 3-Deck currently under construction. Through his acquisition company Helios Yacht Investments GmbH, he has taken control of all assets previously belonging to Silent-Yachts, including the intellectual property behind the innovative catamaran design and the Silent Italia shipyard in Fano.

Michael Said - Majority Owner

Said ensured that funding did not dry up last year, safeguarding 140 jobs when the former company went into receivership. By keeping the yacht-building business in Fano operational, he allowed Silent-Yachts to move forward on its existing orders for the Silent 62. The first of these yachts, a three-deck version, has just been launched, with seven more expected by the end of the year .

Prospects for growth

Silent-Yachts will unveil its first 80-footer in 2025 , with another expected by the end of the same year. This is an exceptionally strong order book, reflecting the widespread enthusiasm for the brand and the innovative technology it has developed.

New CEO Fabrizio Iarrera , a veteran of the Italian marine industry, has already restructured the company and helped solidify its foundation for the future. “Silent-Yachts is known and recognized throughout the nautical world for developing the technology that makes electric catamarans a reality,” he said. “There are costs associated with creating a whole new market, and the original company fell victim to these at a time when price inflation everywhere was getting out of control,” he said.

Toward the future

As stated by the shipyard, the priority goal is to finish the yachts under construction and deliver them to customers . Thereafter, the team will re-orchestrate its future production schedule to offer additional building slots for 2025 and 2026. In the meantime, as stressed by the brand, all owners of a Silent yacht will enjoy the same service and warranty while continuing to receive full support from the brand’s worldwide network .

Steve Bell

Iarrera concluded, “ At our yard in Fano, we are completely focused on streamlining our operations . The team we have built is committed to proving to the world that we are delivering yachts and that our excellent R&D team can stay one step ahead of our competitors. We are confident that there is a bright future for Silent-Yachts.”

Silent 100 Explorer first look: Electric powercat pioneer to build €19m superyacht

  • Electric boats
  • Top stories

Solar powered catamaran builder, Silent Yachts, has started work on its largest yacht to date – a solar-electric superyacht called the Silent 100 Explorer.

Designed by Marco Casali, this vast, plumb-bowed, all-composite model has an LOA of 101ft 8in (31m), a beam of 34ft 4in (10.46m) and a matching air draught of 34ft 4in (10.46m).

In all it provides 1,130ft² (105m²) of outdoor space and a volume close to 440GT, much the same living space as a 45-50m monohull superyach t.

The first Silent 100 Explorer will sport around 40kWp of photovoltaic panelling that will feed an 800kWh lithium-ion battery bank.

With twin 340kW brushless electric motors providing the thrust, a short-burst top speed of between 14-16 knots is predicted but it’s this electric boat ‘s ability to maintain a six-knot cruise almost indefinitely in full sunshine that will really appeal to owners.

Key features include a full-beam 550ft² (51m²) main-deck owner’s suite , complete with owner’s office and a private balcony.

There will also be three further ensuite guest cabins spread across the main deck plus another two and a gym positioned in the starboard hull.

A central spiral staircase connects the main lounge area aft with a sky-lounge above. A full-beam bridge is located on the upper deck with doors either side leading to the elevated bow and aft decks with their own lounging areas.

The crew complement will be seven to eight across four cabins. There’s a bridge-deck double and adjacent yacht office for the captain and three double-bunk crew cabins in the port hull, as well as the main galley, the crew mess and a crew tender garage .

There is also room for a 7.5m (24ft 6in) limo-tender in a main garage positioned between the hulls. Two of those solar roof sections will also open to reveal a sundeck that doubles as a touch-and-go helipad. Plus there’s a similarly covered smaller flybridge area up front.

The first Silent 100 Explorer is already under construction in Italy and should splash in late 2023. The ball-park price-tag is a cool €19 million, excluding taxes.

Silent Yachts saved from administration

With the electric catamaran builder now under new ownership and management team, ceo fabrizio iarrera discusses the shipyard’s growth strategy  ….

silent yachts gmbh

Michael Said, an American-German investor has acquired Fano-based shipyard Silent Yachts , drawing the company from the brink of insolvency. The new majority owner, who is also a client of the yard, with a Silent 62 3-Deck currently in build, has appointed Fabrizio Iarrera as CEO, with company founder and former CEO Michael Koehler keeping a 10 per cent stake in the firm and set to take on the role of brand ambassador.

“Michael Koehler has 20 years of experience in developing solar-electric yacht technology and the management team is pleased to have his experience available to them,” Iarrera tells SuperyachtNews. “Now, the growth strategy is to streamline manufacturing and organisational processes in our Fano shipyard to make us more efficient and allow us to increase production as our demand increases.”

The Austrian builder had fallen into financial difficulty recently and underwent a restructuring process due to the discontinuation of a crucial subcontractor that had played a major role in the production of the yard's solar catamarans. Subsequent reports from the Austrian newspaper Kleine Zeitung also indicated that the parent company of Silent Yachts, Asap Trading, was facing insolvency issues, with a total debt of around €46 million.

Now, however, with a new management team in place and access to fresh funding, there is a robust and solid growth strategy in place that covers the next five years. Italian yachting sector veteran Iarrera says that the firm has already restructured the business and helped to set it on a strong footing for the future.

“Silent Yachts is known and recognised throughout the yachting world for developing the technology to make electric catamarans a reality,” he says. “There are costs associated with creating an entirely new market, and the original business fell prey to these, at a time when price inflation everywhere was spiralling out of control. We have a medium-term strategy to fully develop Silent Yachts range with new models available over our five-year business plan and offer a greater range for our customers.”

Through his acquisition vehicle, Helios Yacht Investments, Said has taken control of all the assets formerly belonging to Silent Yachts, including the intellectual property of the yachts’ design and the shipyard Silent Italia in Fano. A dual German and American national who practised law in the US, Said has a property portfolio worldwide and was looking for future business investments. Being a customer of Silent Yachts, Iarrera says the decision to invest was easy, as Said has always been a believer in the company.

The new owner ensured that funding didn't dry up last year, saving 140 jobs when the business fell into administration. By keeping the Italian yacht building operation in Fano running, Said allowed Silent Yachts to continue working on its existing orders for the Silent 62. The first of these yachts has just been launched, with a further seven due later this year. Silent Yachts will also launch its first 80s model in 2025, with another one due before the end of the same year.

Under the new regime, Iarrera will oversee day-to-day operations, supported by Michael Said and a board of shareholders. Steve Bell has also accepted the role of vice chairman of the board. Together, they will supervise the new business and provide guidance to the management team to facilitate growth. Bell brings extensive experience as a seasoned manager in manufacturing enterprises spanning Britain and Germany.

Having overcome financial difficulty, Iarrera explains that the yard is currently restricted by transport limitations at the current yard due to the beam of the yachts, meaning that only the 62 can be built in the yard. “However, we are developing an additional facility in the port at Fano that could allow for two 80s to be built each year,” he says.

For the new CEO, however, the top priority for Silent Yachts now is to finish the yachts under construction and to deliver them. The yard currently has back orders for 17 yachts and is working to deliver these during 2024 and 2025, with three slots still available for delivery in late 2025.

“We know we have a job to do to rebuild the brand's reputation, but we've been thrilled by the positive reception we've had from those who have already put in orders,” Iarrea adds. “At our yard in Fano, we are fully focused on streamlining our operations. The team that we have built is committed to showing the world that we are delivering yachts and that our excellent R&D team can stay ahead of our competitors. We are certain that there is a bright future for Silent Yachts.”

Leading electric catamaran builder Silent-Yachts has shaken off a period of financial difficulties to emerge stronger under new ownership. With a new management team in place and access to fresh funding, there is a robust and solid growth strategy in place that covers the next five years. New majority owner Michael Said is an American-German investor who is also a client of Silent-Yachts, with a Silent 62 3-Deck in build now. Said ensured that funding didn't dry up last year, safeguarding 140 jobs when the previous business fell into administration. By keeping the Italian yacht building operation in Fano running, he allowed Silent-Yachts to make progress on its existing orders for the Silent 62. The first of these yachts, an outstanding three-deck version, has just been launched, with a further seven due later this year. "There are costs associated with creating an entirely new market, and the original business fell prey to these, at a time when price inflation everywhere was spiralling out of control." "Our yacht owners are passionate about the brand and the yacht itself, as our very strong pipeline of orders shows. For Michael Said, it was an easy decision to invest in a restructured Silent-Yachts, and many of our other owners are just as keen. We know we have a job to do to rebuild the brand's reputation, but we've been thrilled by the positive reception we've had from those who have already put in orders." Iarrera will run day-to-day operations with support from Michael Said and a board of shareholders. Steve Bell has agreed to serve as vice chairman of this board and together, they will oversee the new business and assist the new management team to achieve growth. Bell is a veteran manager from manufacturing businesses across Britain and Germany, as well as a qualified trainer for sailing and motor yachts up to 24m. The priority is to finish the yachts under construction and to deliver them to Silent-Yachts’ clients. Then the team will reshuffle its future production schedule to offer additional build slots for 2025 and 2026. All owners of a Silent Yacht will enjoy the same service and warranty, continuing to enjoy full support from the brand’s worldwide network. Iarrera finished: “At our yard in Fano, we are fully focused on streamlining our operations. The team that we have built is committed to showing the world that we are delivering yachts and that our excellent R&D team can stay ahead of our competitors. We are certain that there is a bright future for Silent-Yachts."

Headlining the news is the announcement that Austrian-owned Silent-Yachts has been restructured as Silent Group comprising several distinct divisions.

Silent-Yachts:  Offering fully electric, solar-powered catamarans from 60-120 feet for noiseless, zero-emission cruising. In addition, from now on a new sub-division will also build hybrid yachts that make use of both conventional propulsion and renewable solar energy. The first hybrid yacht is an 82-foot model to be built in partnership with VisionF Yachts.

Through the cooperation with VisionF, Silent-Yachts aims to support the Turkey based shipyard towards making their catamarans more sustainable. The extended hardtop flybridge of the so-called Silent VisionF 82 is fitted with a large solar array and a powerfull battery bank in order to provide sufficient energy to power all household and comfort appliances on board. As a result, guests will be able to enjoy the noiseless Silent experience without compromises when anchoring in a bay or docked in a marina. The alliance showcases the willingness of Silent-Yachts to assist other manufacturers to reduce their vessels dependency on fossil fuels by incorporating the proven solar technology of the Austrian pioneer.

Silent Yachts transforms into Silent Group, expands production

Silent-Tenders:  Offering a new range of electric Silent tenders, starting with a model of 4 metres in length. Further models will be announced during 2022.

Silent-Management:  Offering the full spectrum of management services for Silent clients, from documentation, flag registration, certification and inspections to crew hiring, charter and yacht management, maintenance and servicing.

Silent-Charter:  Offering Silent yachts for charter from the fleet base in Port Adriano, Mallorca and around the world.

Silent-Brokerage:  Offering brokerage services for pre-owned vessels for sale by Silent and its clients.

Silent-Resorts:  Stunning zero-carbon, ultra-sustainable resorts with luxurious beachfront solar-powered residences.

Silent-Shop:  A web-based outlet for electric water toys, smart electric gadgets as well as Silent merchandising products.

New production sites The Silent Group can draw on three production facilities around the world. Its shipyard on Italy’s Adriatic coast has five construction sheds with 22,000 m² of covered space and about the same area outside for building the Silent 60 series & and the Silent 80 series.

The Swiss-owned and managed PMG Shipyard in Thailand builds the Silent 60 series. The yard has a 20,800-m² facility in Rayong with dedicated areas for each stage of the production process.

A new partnership with Coşkun Bayraktar in Turkey, founder of the Viaport Group has opened up more production opportunities. Bayraktar, who also owns VisionF Yachts in Istanbul, has invested considerable manpower in recent months to start up production of the Silent 60 series, Silent 80 series, SILENT 100 series as well as the new Silent VisionF 82. Boats of each series are already being built in Turkey. Including the Tuzla Viaport Marina, the copperation with VisionF Yachting provides access to more than 100,000 m² of production area.

Record sales in 2021 – the current order book 2021 was a record-breaking year for the brand with 21 yachts sold. There are 17 yachts currently in build at different stages of production, among them eight Silent 60 series, six Silent 80 series, two Silent VisionF 82 and the first Silent 120 (ex-Silent 100).

Upcoming new launch The next unit to be launched will be a Silent 60 – Front Exit version. The solar electric catamaran will touch the water this month February 2022 and will head straight to the US where the owner is waiting. Another Silent 60 Front Exit will be launched by April and will be followed by more yachts later this year.

“I’m immensely proud of what Silent-Yacht has achieved over the years,” says Silent-Yachts founder and CEO Michael Köhler. “After beginning our research into solar yacht technologies in 2004, the company has evolved and expanded and last year’s sales show that we continue to grow. We are now a truly international Group with diverse interests requiring more extensive resources and production space. This enables us to collaborate with other shipyards such as VisionF to assist them in harnessing solar technology as a step towards a more sustainable future.”

The Regional Court of Klagenfurt has opened a major bankruptcy for ASAP Trading GmbH, which acts as a holding company for a total of seven subsidiaries, including Silent Yachts Explorer 100/1 GmbH and Silent Italia S.r.l. The company's liabilities amount to around 45.8 million euros, of which 9.3 million euros are subordinated claims. A total of 55 creditors and 36 employees are affected.

The cause of the insolvency lies in the challenges posed in autumn 2023 by a Dutch/Turkish contractual partner who - according to Silent Yachts without justification - stopped production of all the boats ordered. This led to a standstill in production in Turkey. "Despite these challenges, the shipyard in the Italian city of Fano is operating normally and is in a restructuring phase," reads an official statement from Silent Yachts. The aim is to transition from a founder-financed company to an investor-financed company managed by experienced industry experts.

What the future holds for Silent Yachts

The changes are intended to increase the company's growth potential and promote an efficient organisational structure that focuses on the production of solar electric boats under the Silent Yachts brand in Italy. The company plans to switch to modular series production in March 2024, with all yacht components arranged next to each other in one hall so that they can be built simultaneously instead of one after the other. This method of repeatable processes will significantly reduce lead times and minimise costs, the press statement continues.

Media from Austria, such as kleinezeitung.at and daili.at The media also report that two approaches to damage limitation are being discussed: Customers could take over semi-finished boats in Turkey and finish them themselves, or the litigation risk could be transferred to a litigation financier.

ASAP Trading, which was founded in 2017, initially experienced a strong growth phase. However, the takeover of the production site in Italy and the cooperation with a shipyard in Turkey resulted in high investment costs. The insolvency administrator will initiate appropriate steps. The first creditors' meeting is scheduled for 19 March 2024. The continuation forecast is negative according to creditor protection associations.

According to Silent Yachts, founders Michael and Heike Köhler are handing over the management of the company to COO Fabrizio Iarrera. They will continue to be available to the company in the areas of sales and development and will act as brand ambassadors.

Silent-Yachts emerges stronger under new ownership with solid growth strategy

Electric catamaran builder Silent-Yachts has shaken off a period of financial difficulties to emerge stronger under new ownership. With a new management team in place and access to fresh funding, there is a robust and solid growth strategy in place that covers the next five years.

New majority owner Michael Said is an American-German investor who is also a client of Silent-Yachts, with a Silent 62 3-Deck in build now. Through his acquisition vehicle Helios Yacht Investments GmbH, he has taken control of all the assets formerly belonging to Silent-Yachts, including the intellectual property behind the yachts’ innovative design, and the shipyard Silent Italia in Fano.

Said ensured that funding didn’t dry up last year, safeguarding 140 jobs when the previous business fell into administration. By keeping the Italian yacht building operation in Fano running, he allowed Silent-Yachts to make progress on its existing orders for the Silent 62. The first of these yachts, an outstanding three-deck version, has just been launched, with a further seven due later this year.

In addition, Silent-Yachts will launch its first 80-footer in 2025, with another one due before the end of the same year. It constitutes an exceptionally strong pipeline of orders, reflecting widespread enthusiasm for the brand and the innovative technology it has developed.

New CEO Fabrizio Iarrera, a veteran of the Italian yachting sector, has already restructured the business and helped to set it on a strong footing for the future.  “Silent-Yachts is known and recognised throughout the yachting world for developing the technology to make electric catamarans a reality,”  he said . “There are costs associated with creating an entirely new market, and the original business fell prey to these, at a time when price inflation everywhere was spiralling out of control.”

“Our yacht owners are passionate about the brand and the yacht itself, as our very strong pipeline of orders shows. For Michael Said, it was an easy decision to invest in a restructured Silent-Yachts, and many of our other owners are just as keen. We know we have a job to do to rebuild the brand’s reputation, but we’ve been thrilled by the positive reception we’ve had from those who have already put in orders.”

Iarrera will run day-to-day operations with support from Michael Said and a board of shareholders.

We are certain that there is a bright future for Silent-Yachts.”

Silent-Yachts acquired out of administration

Electric catamaran builder Silent-Yachts has revealed a new owner and new management after finalising a deal to take it out of administration.

Amid rumours of bankruptcy that have persisted since the start of the year, the Austrian-Italian shipyard has confirmed that American-German investor Michael Said, through his acquisition vehicle Helios Yacht Investments GmbH, has taken control of all the assets formerly belonging to Silent-Yachts .

The majority acquisition includes the intellectual property behind the yachts’ innovative design, and the shipyard Silent Italia in Fano.

Fabrizio Iarrera - CEO

The firm has also appointed a new CEO, Fabrizio Iarrera, to restructure the business. Iarrera — an Italian industry veteran who has worked at Monte Carlo Yachts and Dolce Vita Yachts — was appointed COO earlier this month . He will run day-to-day operations with support from Michael Said and a board of shareholders.

Steve Bell has agreed to serve as vice chairman of this board and together, they will oversee the new business and assist the new management team to achieve growth. Bell is a manager from manufacturing businesses across Britain and Germany, as well as a qualified trainer for sailing and motor yachts up to 24m.

With a new management team in place and access to fresh funding, the firm maintains that ‘there is a robust and solid growth strategy’ in place that covers the next five years. In a statement, the firm says it has ‘shaken off a period of financial difficulties’ to ’emerge stronger’ under new ownership.

Michael Said - Majority Owner

New majority owner Said (pictured left) ensured that funding didn’t dry up last year, safeguarding 140 jobs when the previous business fell into administration.

Said is also a client of Silent-Yachts, with a Silent 62 3-Deck currently in build.

By keeping the Italian yacht building operation in Fano running, he allowed Silent-Yachts to make progress on its existing orders for the Silent 62. The first of these yachts, a three-deck version, has just been launched, with a further seven due later this year.

Silent-Yachts will launch its first 80-footer in 2025, with another one due before the end of the same year.

“Silent-Yachts is known and recognised throughout the yachting world for developing the technology to make electric catamarans a reality,” says Iarrera. “There are costs associated with creating an entirely new market, and the original business fell prey to these, at a time when price inflation everywhere was spiralling out of control.

Silent-Yachts says its priority is to finish the yachts under construction and to deliver them to Silent-Yachts’ clients. Then the team will reshuffle its future production schedule to offer additional build slots for 2025 and 2026. It says all owners of a Silent Yacht will enjoy the same service and warranty, continuing to enjoy full support from the brand’s worldwide network.

Iarrera adds: “At our yard in Fano, we are fully focused on streamlining our operations. The team that we have built is committed to showing the world that we are delivering yachts and that our excellent R&D team can stay ahead of our competitors. We are certain that there is a bright future for Silent-Yachts.”

PRESS RELEASE

Catching a sustainable dream: Nautor Swan's first electrified maxi yacht is powered by Torqeedo.

Luxury yachts like the Swan 88 are equipped with a plethora of electronic equipment and amenities that demand significant power. Deep Blue's holistic energy management system not only generates green power while sailing but also manages, balances, and delivers that energy to all the yacht's onboard systems. All hotel battery banks, hydraulics, and amenities are backed by the four Deep Blue Battery 40s that comprise the central 160 kWh battery bank, minimizing generator runtime and delivering ample energy storage. The high-capacity battery bank powers the emission-free propulsion system, and a 50 kW Deep Blue motor keeps the yacht's hydraulic systems pressurized, including the bow and stern thrusters, windlass, and winches. The large battery bank also ensures plenty of power to enjoy silent living onboard for up to 12 hours. DC/DC converters ensure the yacht's 24-volt electrical system and electronics are always online. Amenities that require a lot of power, such as the air conditioning, oven, watermaker, dishwasher, and washing machine, are also integrated into the Deep Blue energy management infrastructure courtesy of a 22 kW DC/AC inverter. These amenities provide the utmost comfort and convenience, while the Deep Blue system ensures their power consumption is efficiently monitored and managed.
