NORN is a 89.99 m Motor Yacht, built in Germany by Lurssen and delivered in 2023.
Her power comes from two MTU diesel engines. She has a gross tonnage of 3491.0 GT and a 14.7 m beam.
She was designed by Espen Oeino International , who has designed 67 other superyachts in the BOAT Pro database.
The naval architecture was developed by Lurssen , who has architected 71 other superyachts in the BOAT Pro database, and the interior of the yacht was designed by Doelker & Voges - she is built with a Teak deck, a Steel hull, and Aluminium superstructure.
NORN is in the top 5% by LOA in the world. She is one of 66 motor yachts in the 80-90m size range, and, compared to similarly sized motor yachts, her volume is 1022.86 GT above the average.
NORN is currently sailing under the Cayman Islands flag, the 2nd most popular flag state for superyachts with a total of 1405 yachts registered. Lürssen have announced the launch of 90m (295’2”) super yacht PROJECT 1601 from their shipyard in Rendsburg Germany. With construction beginning back in 2018, little is known about this striking superyacht.

What we do know is that her angular exterior with unique bow shape was designed by Espen Øino International with Lürssen taking the lead with her naval architecture. Dölker + Voges GmbH collaborated with the project management team from Cornelsen & Partner to create interiors which echo the overall design and there is a huge interior to consider, as the volume is expected to exceed 3,600 GT.

Lürssen has just dropped their official launch video of the 90m (295ft) expedition yacht NORN , known throughout her build as Project 1601, from their Rendsburg facilities in Germany last week, with footage revealing the moment it first hit the water.
Showcasing a striking oblique reverse bow and angular profile, the German shipyard also revealed the expedition yacht’s name NORN upon her launch, which in Norse means fate. The yard is also confirmed to be behind the yacht's naval architecture, with Espen Øino International responsible for her rugged exterior styling.
Meanwhile, the 3,600 GT yacht’s interiors are the work of Hamburg studio Dölker+Voges Design.
By watching the film clip, you can take in the expedition yacht 's utilitarian profile, befitting of her ice-class status, while her sharp exterior lines are balanced out by soft curves for a rugged yet luxurious explorer-style look.
The exact specifications of her ocean-going capabilities remain a secret, but it is expected that she will be able to cruise in some of the world’s remotest oceans.
Other Lürssen projects in the pipeline
This comes at the start of another busy year for Lürssen with the 137m (449ft) yacht LUMINANCE launched in the same week as yacht NORN, and the 125-meter Project Jag set to be delivered later this year.
Other major projects currently underway at Lürssen include the 142-metre Project Alibaba, due for delivery in 2024.
Interested in booking a yacht charter?
Expedition yacht NORN will undergo sea trials in the coming months and is expected to be delivered in the spring. It is not believed that she will be available to charter upon delivery.

Lürssen delivers 90m M/Y Norn
Following its launch in february, norn embarks on its maiden voyage….
Lürssen Yachts have announced that 90-metre Norn (previously Project 1601) left their shipyard at the end of April and has now embarked on its maiden voyage.
Norn has been built for a couple who had previously owned a 70-metre Lürssen for more than 20 years. With a steel hull and aluminium superstructure, and teak decks, it has an overall beam of 14.7 metres and a gross tonnage of 3,491gt.
The exterior is designed by Espen Øino, as was the owners’ previous yacht, with a striking silhouette dominated by flat surfaces, straight lines and angular corners. The interior was styled by Dölker + Voges, which, Lurssen say, echos the same design themes as the exterior. Cornelsen & Partner acted as project manager throughout the construction process.
The yacht is equipped with state-of-the art technology and engineering systems, such as zero-speed stabilisers, an outside cinema and a liftable pool floor with dance floor illumination. A dynamic positioning system enables electronic anchoring in sensitive and remote areas, protecting the seabed and allowing for safe mooring regardless of water depth.

Lurssen Launches 90m Project 1601

German shipyard Lurssen Yachts rounded off a major week of activity with the launch of 90-metre displacement superyacht, Project 1601.
The launch of Project 1601 in Rendsburg followed soon after the emergence of 145m Luminance from the builder’s Bremen facility.
The construction of Project 1601 , much like Luminance , has been kept very secretive since it began in 2018. Emerging from the shipyard, the superyacht revealed its unique exterior profile, featuring prominent lines and a striking reverse bow design.
Renowned Monaco-based design firm, Espen Oeino International , is responsible for this exterior design, working alongside the in-house team at Lurssen who oversaw the naval architecture. Dölker & Voges Design of Hamburg lent their expertise to craft the interior spaces, which are yet to be publically revealed.
Project 1601 is due to be delivered to her Owner this spring, and will now complete her sea trials over the next months. With such a flurry of major activity from Lurssen this week, we look forward to following both Project 1601 and Luminance as they near their respective delivery dates.
