But we hope you’ll also become our friend.

Many of our guests tell us their Serenity charter yacht vacation was one of the best experiences of their lives. Our charter yachts travel the spectacular coastlines of Turkey and Croatia, taking you to charming coastal villages and secluded coves and beaches. Click below to see our yachts up close.

We act as yacht brokers for vessels we know very well. If you are looking to buy one of our yachts, we can quickly answer your questions and provide detailed information. If you’d like to sell your yacht, you can expect personal attention, an honest value assessment and a marketing plan designed to sell your yacht quickly and at the best price possible.

Successfully chartering a yacht takes experience, attention to detail and a solid marketing plan. Over the years, we’ve become quite good at all three, and we’ve built a reputation for excellence. When you hire us to manage your yacht charters, you’ll save time and money, keep your crew and yacht in top shape, and get the most from your investment. And importantly, you’ll be confident that your yacht is in good hands.

We make yachting more fun by helping you with the details. Our yacht management clients trust us to manage their yachts in a way that maintains their value and saves money in the long run. Depending on the size of your yacht and your goals, we can manage your maintenance, finances, crew or charters.

Our shipyard has built or refit vessels as small as 8 meters and as large as 46 meters. We’re different than many other shipyards because our team can take your boat building project from its earliest conception all the way to launch day. This means you can work directly with your shipbuilding team, saving time and cutting down on costs. And our approach ensures that every part of your project will meet Serenity’s high standards.

Unlike most yacht charter and management companies, our family business includes our own shipyard in Turkey. We have built and refit projects up to 46 meters in both wood and steel – including some of the Turkish gulets that we offer for charter. Our naval architects, project managers and post construction management team can handle every phase of a shipbuilding project in house – saving both time and money in the construction process. Turkey’s history stretches back over 5,000 years, and represents a unique blend of eastern and western cultures, boasting a rich archaeological legacy left over from classical civilizations and Islamic Middle East, with several locations of cultural significance now designated UNESCO Heritage sites.

Its strategic position between Europe and Asia has seen it act as both a conduit and barrier simultaneously between the two continents of Asia and Europe over the years. Over the centuries Turkey became more secular and Western-orientated, culminating in a reform of the Turkish language.

As a popular destinations for yacht charters in the East Mediterranean, there should be ample to choose from when it comes to crewed yachts for charter in Turkey. If you’re unsure about whether you want to book a gulet, motor or sailing yacht for your luxury getaway, there are a few things you should consider first.

Gulet Yacht Charters in Turkey

Gulet charter cruising Turkish waters

Making up the majority of the fleet in this country, a luxury gulet in Turkey can provide guests with an excellent crewed charter experience to explore secluded coves and ancient ruins in a more cost-effective manner, with a vast amount of deck space on board. Expect capped air condition times, specific hours of cruising included in the price and lower APA costs as you are mostly in bays, but expect higher fees for ports.

Motor Yacht Charters in Turkey

Motor yachts lined up in a marina in Turkey

Guests can also select from a fleet of luxury motor yachts  in Turkey, mostly located in Bodrum, Göcek , Fethiye , Marmaris , and Bozburun . Complete with larger interior volumes, more powerful engines as well as better amenities on offer, it's a sumptuous alternative to gulets. However, this is usually paired with higher charter costs.

Sailing yacht charters in Turkey

As for Turkey sailing yacht rentals with plenty available throughout summer. A combination of clement weather, clear skies and plenty of showstopping anchorages create great sailing conditions in the region.

There’s something to suit every type of budget for a Turkey yacht rental. The overall price of a Turkey yacht charter vacation varies depending on a number of factors, including the type of yacht, the age of the yacht, and the month in which you choose to charter.

  • A Turkey motor yacht rental can range from $28,294 to $1.6m per week, plus expenses
  • For luxury sailing and gulet yacht rentals in Turkey, prices can go from $21,013 to $147,091 weekly, plus expenses

May till October are the best months to cruise the shimmering Aegean and Mediterranean waters on a yacht charter. Yacht charter guests can expect here an average minimum temperature of 15 degrees from May, before peaking to 33 degrees in July and August. It still remains positively balmy come October, reaching up to 24 degrees, with comfortable sea temperatures averaging 25 degrees.

Gulet yachts anchored in a sheltered cove in Turkey

The majority of yacht charters in Turkey commence in the country’s southwestern marinas thanks to the excellent provision of facilities, unparalleled scenery, and convenient location to both regional and international airports. Vibrant Bodrum , the picturesque fishing village of Göcek , or the enchanting Çeşme , Marmaris , Fethiye , or Antalya are all chartering favorites.

For a less obvious starting point, you could choose the tranquil bliss of the Bosphorus strait near Istanbul . However, keep in mind you will have fewer charter options available in this area.

sample itineraries

Bodrum and Marmaris are popular points to end a Turkey yacht charter, thanks to their excellent array of facilities and close proximity to international airports.

The Turkish Riviera (also charmingly known as the Turquoise Coast thanks to its vividly-colored waters) comprising southwestern destinations like Fethiye , Marmaris , and Bodrum,   is by far the most popular area for chartering.

Fethiye Yacht Charters

Aerial view of Blue Lagoon, yacht charter

Many begin a yacht charter in Fethiye , thanks to its convenient location to Marmaris and Bodrum in the north. Dominated by soaring cedar trees and pine-carpeted cliffs that tumble into clear blue waters, it's flecked with archaeological ruins and uninhabited islands, with plenty of bays to take toys for a spin.  Fethiye  yacht charters are also a great base for visiting one of Turkey’s most jaw-dropping beautiful beaches, Ölüdeniz (Blue Lagoon).

Göcek Yacht Charters

Beautiful mountain backdrop at Gocek bay Turkey

Göcek yacht rentals have been long adored by international jet setters. This fishing village located on a private bay is the entry to undiscovered coves and more than 12 islands of unmatched beauty. Boasting six well-equipped marinas (including two for superyachts) it’s brimming with cafes and tavernas. Before going off-shore, stop by for a traditional mezze platter or sip a cocktail as the sun's apricot glow falls on its shorefront promenades.

Marmaris Yacht Charters

Romain ruins carved into clifftops in Turkey

A Marmaris yacht charter gives guests the best of both worlds. A superyacht haven, this buzzing town is a hub of activity: with a bustling grand bazaar, throngs of restaurants, bars, and shops lining cobblestone streets, and paragliders filling the skies above. But this is in dramatic contrast to the rest of the stunning Carian Coast which is within easy reach of Marmaris : secluded bays and quaint villages are dotted all along the Bozburun Peninsula .

Bodrum Yacht Charters

Billowin bougainvillea on a street corner in Bodrum Turkey

Why are Bodrum yacht rentals so popular? It's a vibrant coastal city humming with nightlife and home to a large glittering marina as well as the landmark St. Peter’s Castle. Unquestionably a glamorous beach hangout, hip restaurants and bars sheltered by palm trees frame the chic Yalikavak marina.

During a Bodrum yacht charter, be sure to anchor at nearby Türkbükü Bay for a taste of the “Saint-Tropez of Turkey" and dance under a canopy of stars. Cruise further afield and you’ll reach the olive-grove covered Datça Peninsula , as well as the Dalyan- Ekincik  Bay, revered for its windsurfing opportunities.

Yachts moored in a marina in Turkey with verdant hills in the background

Surrounded by the Mediterranean , Aegean , Marmara , and Black Seas , it should come as no surprise that Turkey is home to a vast array of world-class marinas perfect for gulet or yacht chartering. It should be noted that whilst the Black Sea is replete with deep valleys, verdant mountains, and crater lakes, it does not usually feature on a typical yacht itinerary. That’s largely down to its wetter and colder climate, leading to few well-developed marinas. As a result, it does not feature in our list below.

For yacht charters on Turkey's Mediterranean Coast:

  • Kaş marina : recently developed and has slip capacity for 450 yachts.
  • Setur Finike marina: situated in the stunning historic city of Finike, with a 320 slip capacity.
  • Setur Antalya marina : renowned superyacht marina, slip capacity reaches 235 yachts.

For yacht charters on Turkey's Aegean Coast:

  • Yalıkavak marina : award-winning with 620-slip capacity, catering to every possible yachting need.
  • Çeşme marina: located in the illustrious port village steeped with history,  it can accommodate 400 slips up to 80m.
  • Skopea marina : regarded as the original superyacht marina, it accommodates up to 80 yachts, with 110m yachts tied to a jetty.

For yacht charters in Turkey's Marmara Region:

  • Ataköy marina: just outside of Istanbul's city center and known for its nightlife. 700 moorings up to 40m.
  • Istanbul marina : located in the heart of Turkey, with 720 moorings for yachts up to 60m.
  • West Istanbul marina: highly acclaimed, it caters to 600 slips up to 95m.

The Turquoise Coast is unquestionably Turkey's anchorage paradise, studded with emerald islands with golden bays lapped by beautiful blue-green waters begging to be explored. Here is our pick of some of the best anchorages in Turkey:

  • Cleopatra Bay (Manastir) : located a stone’s throw from the beautiful town of Fethiye, this glorious sequestered bay yields a bounty of emerald-clear waters atop ancient baths, perfect for anchoring and an afternoon kayak.
  • Fethiye : This port city is known for its exquisite natural harbor, vast swathes of deep golden sand beaches and stunning blue waters. The area also boasts an array of ancient rock tombs dating back to 4th Century BC.
  • Kalcan (Lycian Coast) : a gorgeous sheltered bay set within a charming fishing village against a backdrop of rugged mountainous scenery. Step ashore and explore this tranquil haven, which also boasts a plethora of excellent dining options.
  • Kekova (Antalya province) : this beautiful small island near Kas is the ideal spot to drop anchor for the night, which also happens to be the site of a rather unique ancient sunken city. Although a popular hotspot for tourists during the day, if you aim to arrive around 5pm, you’ll have the place to yourselves.

Turkey Yacht Charter Q&A

For booking most yacht charters, a completed charter agreement and 50% of the charter fee is required upfront as a deposit to secure your chosen yacht. This is usually payable once the contract has been signed

Turkey is an increasingly popular superyacht destination, so yacht charter guests can rest assured that they will have boundless vessel options which will meet their budget criteria.

Whatever type of vessel you ultimately choose, one thing to keep track of are the additional costs not included in the yacht charter base rate. For example, VAT and the APA (Advance Provisioning Allowance). This is usually 30% of the charter fee, and paid in advance. The APA covers expenses such as fuel, berthing, food and drinks, as well as any special requests.

However, gulet charters usually have lower APAs. For personalized advice please consult your yacht charter broker.

Not sure whether to pick a motor yacht, sailing yacht or gulet? Browse our site according to your chosen dates, number of guests, yacht type, features, and preferred onboard toys and we'll show you what's available and within your budget.

If you make a subsequent enquiry, a yacht charter broker will get in contact to provide you with a bespoke charter proposal.

Alternatively, get in touch with your  yacht charter broker directly and they can research the best yacht for you in line with your requirements.

The vast majority of yacht charters commence in southwest Turkey, with the most popular superyacht locations being Bodrum, Marmaris, Fethiye, Göcek and Antalya.

Unlike many yacht charter destinations, you also have the option of a gulet charter in Turkey. It is well worth considering if it may be right for you. Benefits include lower APA costs and considerably wide decks onboard to lap up turquoise-tinged panoramas that surround you. However, capped fuel limits and air conditioning times are common to gulet yacht charters.

Yes, it is possible to visit Greece on a luxury Turkey yacht charter. However, additional VAT and fees may apply if venturing outside Turkish waters. It is also worth noting that for convenience, it can often be better to visit Turkey and then Greece or vice versa, rather than zig-zag between the two. That's because you will need to provide documentation every time you cross borders which can be time-consuming.

For precise details regarding fees and routes to Greece, consult your charter broker.

Sailing Qualifications

To skipper a bareboat charter or flotilla yacht, you need to hold a practical sailing certificate equivalent to RYA Day Skipper Practical qualification or RYA International Certificate of Competence (ICC) . For charters in Greece, you must now have the ICC certificate . You must also be assisted by at least one competent crew member over the age of 18.

The port authorities in Greece are now insisting on one of the following practical certificates: RYA ICC (International Certificate of Competence), RYA Coastal, RYA Yachtmaster, ASA IPC (International Proficiency Certificate) or the IYT (International Yacht Training) Passport. If you hold an RYA Day Skipper or ASA104 it will no longer be accepted and you need to obtain either an ICC or IPC from the corresponding issuing body (RYA or ASA). If your RYA Coastal/Yachtmaster or ASA105/106 certificate is more than 12 years old and does not have a photo ID, then we would also strongly advise applying for an ICC or IPC. If you are a member of the RYA or ASA, you may qualify for a discount or free certificate, otherwise, you will have to pay. The approximate cost is £50. Please use this link - RYA application for the ICC or ASA application for the IPC.

For charters in Croatia, Malta and the Canaries , at least one member of the crew or the skipper will also need a VHF licence .

RYA qualifications can be obtained by RYA sailing schools in the UK or alternatively choose from one of our overseas centres in Gibraltar, Greece or Turkey .

For  Seychelles,  the local authorities require an ICC for the skipper of a bareboat or flotilla yacht charter.

For Caribbean and Tropical charters, formal qualifications are not compulsory, however, you should be Day Skipper standard and be assisted by at least one competent crew . A brief sailing resume should be provided to outline your experience.

For Thailand A Day Skipper qualification is required as a minimum and you must have at least 3 weeks of skippering experience prior to your charter. A VHF qualification is compulsory.

If you don't hold the relevant qualifications then why not add a skipper ?

Sailing Levels

Winds force 2-3 (4-11 Knots)combined with generally shorter distances. Good for beginner or intermediate sailors. Line-of-sight navigation but basic knowledge of charts and ability to plot your position required.

Winds force 3-5 (7-21 Knots) with approximately 15-20nm per day. Intermediate experience required. Predominately line of sight navigation but an understanding of how to sail in open water.

Winds force 4-6 (11-27 Knots) with mileage of approximately 20nm+ per day. Ideal for experienced skippers looking to venture out to new destinations. Day skipper standard but with experienced crew would be recommended.

Sailing Holidays in Turkey & Yacht Charter

A Sailing Holiday in Turkey is the only way to discover the beautiful coastline of Turkey. The scenery is breathtaking and the hospitality and warmth of the Turkish people will impress you. Keen sailors will enjoy the reliable winds and choice of sailing itineraries whilst families and less experienced crews will appreciate the many sheltered bays along the Turkish coast which encourage you to stop for swimming and snorkelling in clear turquoise water. There will be no fighting for a place in a busy harbour as most nights you will moor your bareboat yacht charter at a wooden jetty built by the restaurant in the bay, meaning you can take full advantage of the reliable afternoon winds and stay out sailing until early evening.

Discover towering cliffs and secret coves, deserted bays and sandy beaches on a sailing holiday in Turkey.

At Borrow A Boat we’re on a mission to make boating more accessible and to make it easier for you to get on the water. We believe boating should be available to everyone, and we can help the boating industry, boat owners, marinas, and everyone who wants to go boating by providing a 21st-century boating marketplace. Borrow A Boat is the best place to find and rent boats of all sorts, from a canal and riverboats across Europe to a sailing boat, motor yacht, catamaran across North America, the Mediterranean and Caribbean and further afield, along with some of the world’s most impressive superyachts and luxury yacht charters.

Catamarans are the fastest growing type of charter yacht at the moment and once you’ve sailed on one it’s easy to see why. In terms of your ideal catamaran charter think of locations like Thailand, the Ionian Islands, BVI (British Virgin Islands), Croatian Adriatic, Ibiza, French riviera and Mallorca for your sailing adventure.

Types of Catamarans Available For Rent Or Charter In Turkey:

When searching a geographical area on Borrow A Boat you can filter by the below boat types. There is also the option to further filter your searches by price, the number of guests, cabins or bathrooms, what year the catamaran yacht was launched, the boat length and the boat manufacturer.

Types of Catamarans Available:

Sailing Catamarans : Sailing catamaran yachts are stable and spacious, with quick sailing performance, and and have been gaining in popularity in recent years. Better for larger groups, they have lots of room for water toys, and are big enough for a little privacy. A catamaran charter is easy and comfortable for novices not used to heeling and are loved by families due to their extra space when compared to a monohull sailing yacht. Typically far more luxurious than a sailboat the larger catamarans have en suite toilets and showers in the cabin as well as ample entertaining space in the saloon and on deck.

Power Catamaran : These motor boat are relatively new but have also been gaining in popularity as the two hulls keep the boat more stable when compared to a monohull. The wider beam also means more deck space and as they don’t have sails or a mast, they have a lot more space on deck than a sailing catamaran rental or monohull. For a luxury catamaran charter, consider taking a crewed catamaran charter sailing vacation with an experienced skipper.

Catamaran Sailing Areas In Turkey

Whether on a crewed gulet charter or bareboat catamaran charter in Turkey, there is a lot of choice when it comes to your catamaran sailing holiday.

With Gocek and Fethiye the main centres, the western Lycian coast is one where you can go on a relatively quiet and laid back Turkey private yacht charter. A large natural bay mostly sheltered from the prevailing Meltemi winds, you will find quiet anchorages like Kapi Creek and moor in a secluded bay such as Wall Bay or Cold Water Bay, with one restaurant and only goats for company. Sail along the coastline and explore the beautiful Turkish coast, wandering sandy beaches all to yourself.

Bounded by the busy towns of Marmaris and Bodrum, the Turquoise Coast (aka the Turkish Riviera) is going to be a yacht chartering holiday with a bit more of a pulse! Bodrum is a very traditional holiday resort and popular with the country’s elite, and Marmaris is an important port for the country. Our team would be happy to help plan your Turkey yacht charter itinerary

Based in Istanbul, a Marmara Sea yacht charter is one where you will be able to sail between the continents of Europe and Asia in a short hop. this part of the Turkish coastline is an ancient border of civilisations you will enjoy the cultural attractions from the timeless city of Istanbul to island hopping around Marmara Adasi.

Crewed Catamaran Charter or Bareboat:

When it comes to a Turkey catamaran charter you typically have two choices - bareboat or crewed charter.

When using Borrow A Boat you can filter all catamaran searches to be with or without skipper depending on what charter yachts you are looking for and below we cover some of the main points to consider for your catamaran hire.

*Blue Cruise / Gulet charter:* You can do a crewed, blue cruise catamaran charter in Turkey. This form of luxury yacht charter gives you the advantage of being able to get afloat without having to invest in getting sailing qualifications beforehand. For a luxury gulet you will pay a fixed fee for the crew and skipper as well as their food and a tip at the end.

When you get to a luxury yacht charter with crew these prices will increase and costs also depend on where you plan to sail to along with the size and type of yacht rental on your sailing holiday.

In some cases, skippers will also be the boat owner (typically day charter) which means they will know all the best - secluded beaches to show you the best that the area has to offer with their local knowledge.

For day trips you will often be able to use a skipper as well and prices will vary depending on the type of charter boat.

*Bareboat* *Catamaran Charter:* For skilled sailors, a bareboat yacht charter is cheaper and gives more privacy for you and your charter guests. Many sailors prefer to be helming the charter yacht while choosing their own course, and provided you have the knowledge and relevant qualifications you can skipper these boats yourself.

Do You Need A Licence To Charter A Catamaran In Turkey

If you are on a crewed Turkey catamaran charter you do not need a license to sail - you can just turn up at the marina and go.

You do need a license if you are on a bareboat yacht charter and in some countries a day skipper or ICC may not be enough for boats over 45 feet in length, you will need to check with the charter agent but here are some examples of typical sailing qualifications that will allow you to charter in most countries:

*International Certificate of Competence:* **This is issued on request by your European sailing authority and you should automatically qualify with certain national sailing qualifications.

*RYA Qualifications:* If you have the following qualifications you will typically be able to take a bareboat charter out of Thailand (but it is worth checking as per above), these include Day Skipper**, Coastal Skipper** (**sail or motor endorsement) or Yachtmaster.*

*American* *Sailing* *Association (ASA):* The ASA 104 Bareboat certificate is commonly accepted but also check as per above

*US Sailing:* The International Proficiency Certificate is widely accepted and The Bareboat Cruising Certificate is also accepted in many cases.

Frequently Asked Questions

What should i consider when hiring a catamaran.

The main points to consider are what is your budget, have you got the necessary sailing experience and qualifications to manage the boat if it’s not going to have a skipper, whom you are taking sailing, where exactly you wish to go and what will the weather be like on the proposed dates of your trip.

Do you have to pay a deposit when hiring a Catamaran in Turkey?

You will typically pay 50% up front on booking the catamaran hire and the balance on arrival. You will either pay a security deposit with your credit card on departure or can get insurance covering damage in advance. In some cases (such as the recent Covid situation) charter companies may be more flexible but this depends on the individual charter companies themselves.

What happens if my Catamaran breaks down?

If you are at sea and in danger, call MAYDAY on VHF Ch16 or ring the coast guard on your phone if you have reception. If you have a mechanical fault and can make it to or are on a mooring you will be able to phone a help line number given by the boat charter company and they can typically send someone from the charter base

What should I think of before I hire a Catamaran in Turkey?

You should consider do you have the experience to handle the catamaran before you book and where do you want to go along with what the weather will be like. Bring warm weather and cool weather clothing if it looks like the weather can be cool as well as warm and remember at sea it can be cool in the evenings.

What Qualifications Do I need to hire a Catamaran?

If you want to sail without a skipper then you will need relevant qualifications like RYA Day Skipper/International Certificate of Competence (ICC)/ASA 104 Bareboat certificate or the US Sailing Certificate. If you choose to have a skipper on board your catamaran you won’t require licences.

Sailing in Turkey - Geography

Turkey, the size of France and Germany together, is located between Europe, Asia and the Middle East. It’s coastline runs 5,176 miles (8,330 km) with the Black Sea to the north, the Aegean Sea to the west and the Mediterranean to the west, plus the Bosphorus, connecting the Black Sea and the Sea of Marmara. The capital of Turkey, Istanbul (or known as Constantinople before), located right on the spot – dividing or connecting Europe and Asia, is a true wealth of the Byzantine Christian and Muslim (Ottoman) Turkish heritage. It is a delightful conglomerate of numerous tourist attraction: mosques and churches, palaces and castles, Turkish bathes and bazaars. Istanbul is a pure reflection of fast-changing nation. Contrasts between old and new, high-rise modernisation and lack of adequate essentials are merely shocking. But surprisingly this striking feature enchants even more travellers to this region. Origins of the Turks The Turkish people are descendants from the tribes of Central Asian nomads or the Turkmen.

The history of Turkey is as long as that of mankind. Known as Anatolia, or as Asia Minor before, this land has seen so many ups and downs of many great civilisations ( the Persians, Greeks, Romans, Byzantines an Ottomans) that it is hard to squeeze it in any narration. In the middle of the 11th century, the tribe invaded Persia, and when Baghdad fell in 1055, the powerful Great Seljuk Sultanate was declared as the centre of the Islamic world. But in 1243 it was defeated by the Mongols. During 13 and 14th centuries many Christians converted to Islam, because the Mongols offered reduced taxation for Muslims. The Mongols ruled Anatolia till 1335, then Osman founded a dynasty known as the Ottomans and created one of the most powerful empires. By the mid of 1500s, the Ottoman sultan was the central figure of Muslim world. In the 1870s, reformist movement known as the Young Ottomans began to push for a constitutional monarchy. In 1912 and 1913 the empire lost most of its remaining European possessions in the Balkan War. By 1918 only the heartland of Anatolia remained of the Ottoman Empire. In 1923 the Turkish Republic was proclaimed with the First Constitution implemented. During World War II, Turkey pursued peaceful policy and remained neutral.

Most of Turkey’s population (76 million people) follows Islam. The most devoted pray 5 times a day in mosques, while some Turkish do not go to mosques at all. Approximately 130,000 are non-Muslims, including Greek and Armenian Orthodox.

The Turkish language uses the Latin alphabet. But their greatly animated body language can deliver as much a message as a speech itself. The traditional segregation of the sexes is very noticeable. You may often come across groups of men sitting around smoking, drinking endless cups of tea, playing cards or dominos. Numerous festivals, where food and drinks play a central role, demonstrate sincere hospitality and generosity. The age-old Turkish traditions demand absolute respect of elders and cherish their children as national treasures.

The outcome of this country’s long and sometimes violent past reflects itself in its art and architecture and also alters or introduces its traditions and customs. Many peoples, among them Jews, Russians, Armenians, Greek and others have played an important part in Turkey ‘s complex history. It can be seen in mosaics and frescoes, colourful tile work, city walls, fortress and biblical sights.

Customs and traditions.

The Turkish customs, passed from generation to generation, are well-preserved in contemporary life. The Islamic tradition to circumcise boys from the ages of seven and ten is a very lavish occasion. All men over the age of 20 are required to serve in the military forces, which is considered to be a crucial step to manhood. Wedding festivities, which take a lot of preparations of cooking, dressing and dancing are one of the most impressive rituals. Traditional dress as a colourful designed costume, always goes with decorative scarves (both for men and women), dyed with a plant extracts. The traditional crafts are mostly man-made: copper and brass ware; woodwork; hand-printed textiles; quilts, etc. For example, needle lace is an intricate floral design crocheted in silk.

Turkey is a large territory for variety of landscapes and geographical diversity: seascapes, soft beaches and rolling mountains along the Mediterranean coast and deep lush forests of the Black Sea, with vast bare areas in the eastern part. About one quarter of Turkey is covered with forest: pine, spruce and cedar, as well as deciduous trees. 80 % of the country is in active tectonic zone, and earthquakes are frequent. Cappadocia is a must see geological miracle. The hardened volcanic ash (the tuff) was weathered away, creating some majestic formations. Earlier in age even cities were constructed underground, because the softness of the tuff made it easy to build different dwellings underground.

Flora and Fauna

Turkey can surprise any naturalist with abundance of bird life (more than 440 species), larger mammals and diversity of plants. Some of this unspoiled countryside zones are declared as national parks. Each area presents different flora and fauna. The forests of the eastern provinces are habitat for bears, wolves or jackals. The Mediterranean coast grows roses, orchids, lilies, daffodils, etc. Wetlands are famous for water lilies and irises; while woodlands – peonies and jasmine.

Various range of mountains and coastal line of seaside correspondently influence climatic regions in Turkey. The Aegean and the Mediterranean will produce 84F (29C) in July and 48F (9C) in January. Winter is mostly a rainy season here. Annual precipitation in Antalya is 39 in, while the rainfall along the Black Sea is much heavier – 96 inches a year. The northeast has warm summers, but colder winters with temperatures of 16F (-9C). The central plateau has hot dry summers of 73F (23C) and chilly moist winters of 32F (0 C). The coastline of Turkey predictably delivers warm summers and mild winters, with mostly sunny days throughout the year. From May till the end of August it may be windy, but it never reaches its 25 Knots Mark. When going east the winds become weaker, thus more comfortable for sailing.

All national and regional holidays can be divided into 3 categories: Religious feasts celebrated by the Islamic people; festivities associated with events or people of historic significance; traditional festivals, usually tied with a seasonal theme. Turkey has four distinct seasons and different types of celebrations are spread accordingly. In spring there are Tulip Festival in April, Yunus Emre Culture and Art week in May, and Marmaris Race week or International Yachting Festival the 2nd week of May. In summer because of the high temperatures, there is nothing better than to be closer to the seaside. International swimming race is held near the Greek island of Meis. Kirkpinar Festival and Grease wrestling Championship is usually in the last week of June. Istanbul Music Festival is a well known event for opera, theatre and ballet lovers. Autumn is a harvesting season, no wonder there are so many festivals based on the crops: watermelon, grapes, etc. The still warm sea welcomes water sports enthusiasts. International Bodrum Cup Regatta is held in the third week of October, and limited only to few categories of wooden yachts. Race week (last week of October to first of Nov.) takes place in Marmaris and is supervised by the Turkish Sailing Federation. Second week of September will attract dance couples to six-day Tango Festival, also held in Marmaris. In winter the local museums and art galleries will give you a shelter from rain and snow. Although Christmas is ignored by the Turks, New Year’s Day is widely celebrated throughout Turkey. In the mid of January, it is worth visiting the ruined Roman theatre of Ephesus, where the Camel Wrestling Championship is held.

Conveniently surrounded by the Mediterranean Sea in the south, the Aegean Sea in the west and the Black Sea up north, it is no wonder that water sports, and especially sailing, are prevailing in this area. Besides, Turkey provides the longest sailing season in the Mediterranean. There are indeed a lot of advantages for sailors in this area. Secluded sandy bays and coves, lush forested hills, ruins of ancient dwellings – sometimes are hidden from explorers and can be discovered only by water. So, “12 Knots” will give you the opportunity to enjoy this paradise with bareboat or skippered yacht charter. Once you reach your destination - sunny weather, pristine beaches, balsamic waters – will create the most relaxing atmosphere for you. Turkey provides not only its picturesque scenery, but also upscale marinas, well- equipped with secure moorings and other useful facilities for yachts. They are well-located to make it easy to get provisions or meals at the restaurants.

One of the main yacht centres, located on the Bodrum peninsula, is a perfect spot for sailing or dinghy racing. The 15 century Castle, well visible from the harbour, houses a Museum of Underwater Archeology these days. Yalikavak, used to be a sponge-fishing port, is a good place to try local delicacies: sea beans and stuffed marrow flowers.

Marmaris, which used to be a quaint fishing village, set in a sheltered bay, is now a vibrant resort and can be easily compared to the Spanish Ibiza. Marmaris is another popular sailing and diving centre with Netsel Marina, as Turkey ‘s largest and most luxurious marinas, and several smaller ones as well. There is berthing for over 750 yachts up to 130 ft (40m) long. Marmaris is a safe anchorage with no underwater currents, sandbanks or rocks.

On the way from Bodrum to Marmaris you’ll come across Gocek, a small village with 5 well- equipped marinas. The public marinas have berth for above 350 boats with a further 200 berth available in a secluded private marina. The ruins of the Roman town of Lydae, with two mausoleums and a fort, can be visible at the tip of the peninsula.

The Turkish Riviera  in Turkey, also known as the Turquoise Coast, stretches from Cesme down to Antalya and true to its name yields blue-water beaches and coves in abundance for Turkey luxury yacht charters. Snorkel and dive sites are plentiful and varied, with the water remaining warm almost year-round that encourage swimmers of all ages to jump in and swim with dolphins, manta rays, loggerhead turtles and a host of curious fish species.

Greek and Roman influences have left behind extensive coastal ruins hidden just out of sight above a pale white cliff or a screen of pines beside your beach, and the days offer plenty of opportunity to learn new skills on the water toys, fish or simply de-stress.

Aboard your luxury yacht, you can take your accommodation and entertainment with you as you travel with an expert crew, who might include a professional masseuse, yoga instructor or dive master. Sunbathe in your sundeck or wallow in your Jacuzzi as you are transported from pristine nature to bustling cities with shopping opportunities unlike anything back home, flavoursome local cuisine and an animated nightlife.

An extensive Turkish luxury yacht charter itinerary takes in the sights over 14 days and divides guests' time equally between stunning natural wonders, the marvels of ancient civilisation in the region and satisfying modern conveniences and luxuries to be found in the towns and cities beside the shores.

Find out what your group could be doing for your next family break with the following Turkey Yacht Charter Itinerary.

Day 1: Kusadasi

Commence your Turkey luxury yacht charter in the ancient city of Kusadasi and immerse yourself in a place where the past and the present harmoniously live side-by-side. The aroma of local cuisine fills the streets as you explore the bazaar for handmade carpets, rugs and other bespoke pieces for your home and wardrobe. Kusadasi Castle is just a short walk from the marina and offers elevated views of the city and the harbour.

Unwind from a busy day in one of the beautiful hammams to be found throughout the city, of which 'Hammam Kusadasi' is the oldest and most traditional, built in the late 15th Century.

The Dilek National Park to the south of Kusadasi presents luxury yacht charter groups with on sandy bay after another for private rest and relaxation or an afternoon of fun with the water toys in the crystal clear waters of the Eastern Mediterranean.

Location highlights: Kusadasi Castle, Hammam Kusadasi, Dilek National Park

Day 2: Ephesus

From Pamukçuk Plajı (Pamucak Beach) head east to the ruins of the Temple of Artemis and the Ancient Greek city Ephesus, now an open-air archaeological museum and UNESCO World Heritage Site surrounded by cafes and eateries to rest and savour local fare during your tour.

During your day trip, discover the entertainments of the day as you roam the ancient amphitheatre, Roman baths and the newly restored villas that belonged to the city elite, who enjoyed underfloor heating and opulent works of art covering the ceilings to the floor.

If you still have an hour to fill, take in the tranquillity of the ruined St. Jean Kilisesi, the church and burial place of St. John the apostle, and Selcuk castle to the north.

Location highlights: Pamukçuk Beach, Temple of Artemis, City of Ephesus, St. Jean Church, Selçuk Castle

Day 3: Didim

After the two vibrant Turkish cities, follow up with a day of relaxation among the myriad beaches surrounding Didim. There are many easy Scuba dive sites and even a snorkel off the beach will reward with reefs teeming with fish. The winds in the region create the perfect conditions to learn kitesurfing, windsurfing or sailing before resting and recharging with a delicious freshly-prepared lunch on your shaded main deck aft.

The wonderfully preserved Temple of Apollo at the heart of Didim is a must-see for family groups of all ages for its labyrinth of columns, intricate carvings such as the Medusa head and cool shadowy hallways leading back into bright sunlight - splendid photo opportunities to last a lifetime.

Head to a secluded bay to watch the sunset from your Jacuzzi with a cold glass of wine in hand, or moor at D-Marin Marina - Turkey's biggest marina providing berths of up to 70m/229ft - and party the night away at the local bars along Altınkum Beach.

Location highlights: Temple of Apollo, D-Marin Marina Yacht Club, Altınkum Beach

Day 4: Gol Turkbuku

South of Didim is a whole other world of glitz and glamour in Gol Turkbuku, where the Turkish well-to-do spend their summers amongst heavenly scenery surrounded by spa resorts, fine dining opportunities and luxury boutiques. Cafes line the beachfront and in the evenings the glow of the bars and beach clubs might be enough to tempt you ashore, or inspire you to host your own gathering on your sundeck.

Meran Adasi is one of several forested nearby islands where you can moor away from the crowds for private sunbathing or fun on the motorised water toys. Instead, head farther along the coast to Halk Beach and similar sandy coves around Yalıkavak Marina, where restaurants such as Zuma Bodrum prove high quality alternatives to your own dining experience on board your luxury yacht.

Location highlights: Nikki Beach Resort & Spa, Meran Adasi, Halk Beach, Yalıkavak Marina, Zuma Restaurant

Day 5: Bodrum

This once-Greek city is an eclectic mix of modern and ancient culture that makes for a lively and welcoming stop on your 14-day luxury cruise. Start your morning with breakfast alfresco on the main deck aft, then spend the cooler hours of the day touring local sights: St. Peter's Castle holds many miniature exhibitions within, and pass by the Mausoleum at Halicarnassus, as you shop in the local art galleries and boutiques along your route. The ancient Roman-Greco amphitheatre Halicarnassus puts on performances, concerts and similar events for some open air entertainment while you rest weary feet, then receive a relaxing and authentic Turkish hammam treatment for soft and radiant skin. On your way back to the marina stop by at one of the many cafes or restaurants for a light lunch before heading to the nearby beaches.

Scuba divers should not miss the opportunity to visit nearby Kara Ada (meaning 'island') for the caves and WWII wrecks such as the C47 Dakota that line the coast. Even if you decide to stay dry, there is a magnificent selection of once-submerged artefacts at the Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology within St. Peter's Castle to discover the region's ancient pottery that could have been lost forever.

Location highlights: St. Peter's Castle, Halicarnassus Amphitheatre, Bodrum Museum of Underwater Archaeology, Kara Island

Day 6: Sideyri Island

Far from the built-up cities and main tourist attractions, the island of Sideyri in the Gulf of Gokova is a serene retreat for romantics and yacht charter groups looking to follow in the footsteps of Cleopatra and Mark Antony, who used the island for their trysts. Hike or bike the island trails and discover the Ancient Theatre, Kedrai Ancient City with its carved limestone cliff mausoleums, and soft sandy beach named after Cleopatra herself, the sands brought here from North Africa at her bequest.

Kayak, jet ski or sail around the islands to the north or explore the coves along the mainland then settle in for hours of sunbathing, beach-side games and water sports. End your evening with family films or a romantic candlelit meal under the stars, prepared by your own professional chef.

Location highlights: Kedrai Ancient City, Cleopatra Beach, the Ancient Theatre

Day 7: Symi

Move in to Greek territory with Symi - part of the Dodecanese Islands - and absorb the charms of port town Ano Symi where the colourful houses are a delightfully chaotic scene as they follow the twisting roads up into the hills. Begin your morning with a stroll followed by a coffee at one of the beautiful waterfront cafes, photographing the myriad Mediterranean blues before cruising on to nearby Pedi and its beach or St. Nicholas Beach for water sports and relaxation.

As a more private place to snorkel, Scuba dive and host a meal, the secluded Church of St. Basil and its nearby beach is far from the maddening crowd and stop by at Panormitis along the way to see the imposing monastery.

Location highlights: Pedi Beach, St. Nicholas Beach, Church of St. Basil, Archangel Michael of Panormitis Monastery

Day 8: Rhodes

Those who love to learn about history and walk through the remnants of the past will be excited at what the island of Rhodes has to offer, particularly behind the walls of the City of Rhodes. The picturesque Old Town of medieval origin is deserving of UNESCO World Heritage Status along with the Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes, where sunlight dapples the courtyard columns and magnificent mosaics can be found throughout the halls.

The Rhodes windmills can be seen on a stroll to the lighthouse and back, and museums and galleries will provide a welcome break from the midday heat before cruising to such swimming spots as Kallithea Beach or the turquoise-coloured Anthony Quinn Bay. Night owls have a thriving scene of clubs, bars and restaurants to keep them entertained from dusk 'til dawn in the City of Rhodes, and there are dozens of bays for a private party.

Water sports enthusiasts have much to enjoy as well, from shallow pools excellent for young children to deep open waters to run wild on the water skis and jet skis. Scuba divers have myriad dive sites to choose from, including WWII wrecks, caves, the shallow Kallithea Springs and Stegna Islands, and the much deeper Ladiko Wall.

All-in-all, Rhodes has something for everyone and is the rugged backdrop to a day of fun in the sun.

Location highlights: Old Town, Palace of the Grand Master of the Knights of Rhodes, Anthony Quinn Bay, Kallithea Beach, Kallithea Springs dive site, Stegna islands dive site, Lakido Wall dive site

Day 9: Dalyan

Situated between Marmaris and Dalaman, Dalyan is a day of adventure involving nature parks, thermal spas, ancient ruins and rafting along the rivers. Leave your luxury yacht behind at Iztuzu Beach - the middle section of the 5km strip being protected as a breeding ground for loggerhead turtles - and take the tender up the river past the cliff-carved Lycian rock tombs to Kaunos, the ruins of a once-thriving ancient city.

Canyon and raft through the Toparlar Canyon throughout the afternoon, or stay and ease tired muscles at the Sultaniye Thermals and Mud baths along the beautiful Lake Koycegiz to the backdrop of distant mountains. Return to Iztuzu Beach for a snorkel and swim in the warm waters, then savour a cocktail or two at sundown.

Location highlights: Iztuzu Beach, Lycian rock tombs, Kaunos, Sultaniye Thermals and Mud Baths, Lake Koycegiz.

Day 10: Gocek

The luxury marinas in Gocek have top notch modern services for you to refuel and dine in style with other cruisers, then it's a true escape into the Turkish wilds from this favoured favoured luxury yachting destination: Sail to the 12 islands and find sandy crescents and plenty of room for motorised and towable toys, as well as shallow clear water to test your windsurfing and kite surfing skills.

Back on dry land, Gocek has several bars and restaurants for a late afternoon or evening meal, including dock-side restaurant The Breeze and Q Lounge for an evening cocktail.

Guests will be spoiled for choice when it comes to secluded forested bays for privacy when sunbathing on of the foredeck or hosting a gathering on board, and in the evenings the group can fall asleep to the sounds of nature under a clear night sky.

Location highlights: Gocek Yacht Club, The Breeze Restaurant, Q Lounge

Day 11: Fethiye

The more built-up city of Fethiye is just across the bay from Gocek and adds even more options for sunbathing, sight-seeing, shopping and night time entertainment. Those who want to explore beyond the shore and spend a day on land can admire the Ancient Rock Tombs opposite the marina and the ancient city of Telmessos at the heart of Fethiye, or head farther afield to the ghost town of Kayakoy.

Fethiye Museum is a short stroll from the marina and provides Lycain period and onwards exhibits in air conditioned surroundings for a welcome change to outdoor sightseeing. On your way back to the marina, indulge your sweet tooth at Servet Turkish Delight Factory and take home some handmade ceramic bowls, jewellery boxes or board games as a souvenir from Eskisehir Pazari. The canal-side market in Old Town has a variety of stalls for bargain hunters while bespoke jewellers, carpet makers and clothes shops can be found on your wanders.

After a tiring day exploring the wonders along the coast, rest and rejuvenate at one of the many spas and hammams dotting the city: The Old Turkish Bath Boutique Hammam close to the Ece Marina for guests wanting a little luxury before a night on the tiles or a relaxing night in. Calis Beach is packed with bars, bistros and restaurants to cater to your mood, and the soft sandy beach fringed by turquoise water is suited to families of all ages.

Location highlights: Ancient Rock Tombs, Ancient City of Telmessos, Kayakoy, Fethiye Museum, Servet Turkish Delight Factory Old Town, The Old Turkish Bath Boutique Hammam, Calis Beach, Patara Beach

Day 12: Kalkan

On your way south to Kalkan be sure to stop off at Oludeniz for paragliding over its brilliant blue lagoon and emerald hills. The beach has an array of restaurants and bars for lunch out of the sunshine, and the long crescent beach or nearby Kidrak Beach give you options for beach games and relaxation in privacy.

Those in the group looking to spend some energy have the trails up into Kelebekler Vadidi, a butterfly and nature park beginning at the beach and passing through a quaint Turkish village. Farther south, Kabak Beach has a reputation as a hedonistic paradise with few modern day distractions other than the ones you bring with you.

The natural beauty of Kalabantia (a.k.a. Pirate Bay) will stir younger imaginations, who can then play out their adventures on the 20km long Patara Beach, which also makes an ideal location for that candlelit dinner under the stars with a meal prepared to your dietary requirements by your expert on board chef.

Before sundown, there is plenty of time to walk through the floral scented streets of Kalkan for some boutique shopping at the galleries and bespoke jewellers amongst the white-washed buildings. Lycian ruins and natural hideaways can be found along the coast - just ask your Captain to his or her local knowledge on the best spots.

There are also some amazing dive sites in the area, including the shallow Firnaz Bay for beginners and Blue Cave and the Wreck of the Duchess of York, sunk in 1943 for experienced divers after more of a challenge. The Blue Cave can also be visited by boat for family and friends who want to remain dry and see more of the spectacular sights along the coast.

Location highlights: Oludeniz Beach, Kidrak Beach, Kelebekler Vadisi, Kalabantia, Patara Beach, Firnaz Bay dive site, Blue Cave dive site, Duchess of York dive site

Day 13: Kas

Get in some incredible dive sites on the penultimate day of your luxury yacht charter with shallow cave dives, reefs and wrecks thriving with fish species, loggerhead turtles, dolphins and the occasional seal. East of Kas there is the sunken Aperlai Ancient City, where semi-submerged tombs are surrounded on three sides by beautiful jade forests.

Dry off on your sundeck as you cruise in to Kas and admire the stunning white cliffs and golden-hued beaches over lunch. Kayak, paddleboard and snorkel along Incebogaz Beach or grab the opportunity to paragliding if you missed your chance in Oludeniz, then rest and recover in one of the beautiful spas. For shopping, Tugra Art Gallery in the town square boasts a range of high quality ceramics, lanterns and jewellery boxes that would make an original gift for friends and family back home or a memento of the trip. Kas Pazar Market held on a Friday is a short walk from the marina and sells authentic local crafts and produce down picture-perfect old streets. Kas has a thriving nightlife scene surrounding the marina, with a fine selection of restaurants and cafes for groups looking for a more laid back way to take in the ambiance of the city aglow at night.

Location highlights: Incebogaz Beach, Tugra Art Gallery, Aperlai Ancient City, Tunnel dive site, Flying Fish Reef dive site, Hidayet Bay dive site

Day 14: Antalya

End your two-week Turkey luxury yacht charter in Antalya a coastal city that has all the cosmopolitan delights that you could ever want. Moor in the Old Town marina and wander through shaded cobblestone alleyways, discovering ancient forts and mansions, markets, the three arches of Hadrian's Castle Gate from 130 CE, and Antalya's fantastical toy museum with items dating from the late 19th Century onwards. Just outside at Konyaalti Beach, there are numerous restaurants and cafes for a true taste of Turkish cuisine in a vibrant city. Shopping centres are scattered throughout the metropolis and have a variety of international brands for those who want to get in some final day shopping, and spas and hammams both traditional and modern are copious along the seafront. Farther afield, Perge Ancient City awaits 15 kilometres outside of Antalya and is the site of a Roman theatre, baths, stadium and Nymphaeum. For the more adventurous, Termessos Ancient City is nestled within the Taurus mountains away from the busy tourist trails and boasts six temples, a main square, cemetery and theatre, for which Termessos is most well known. As your private transport returns you to town, visit the beautiful Kursunlu waterfalls within the serene nature park.

Location highlights: Kaleici, Hadrian's Gate, Konyaalti Beach, Perge Ancient City, Termessos, Kursunlu Waterfalls

Gulet Cruise Turkey Reviews

I was fortunate enough to experience first hand the fantastic service i was provided, by Caglar and his team. Would highly recommend and look forward to meeting and using their service again in 2023.

It was a very nice 7 day experience. We had a lot of fun and we will definitely repeat it. Food, service were all great. While waiting for a classic fish bread and salad, we found rich tables with many kinds of appetizers and main courses. Many thanks to all of you.

All in all it was a perfect holiday. Our every request was met with a smiling face by the kind and helpful staff. The cleanliness of the boat was by far the best we’ve ever been to. We would like to thank both the boat personnel and you who contributed to the organization.

It contributes a lot to the team that plans our holiday and provides service day and night. Our boat is perfect and the abrasive in the pictures. I had a very enjoyable time with canoe, water ski, paddle board, jet ski. We’ve already made a reservation for next year.

We had a wonderful holiday from the beginning to the last day. Mehmet Kaptan and his team hosted us very well. We still remember your rich tables and delicious meals. On behalf of our entire group, thank you again for everything. Hope to see you soon.

Exotica Charters Announces Availability of New Yacht Charter Locations Due To a Wide Adoption and Innovative Use of This Technology

Exotica Charters is a premier yacht charter company owned by DMA Yachting, a renowned international yacht charter group, focusing on charters in exotic locations. New areas have become available due to total adoption and leveraging of a new technology.

United States - September 19, 2024 —

turkey yacht charter companies

The availability of yacht charters was long dependent upon available marinas that allow for resupply after every charter. As the average size of a crewed charter vessel increased from 45 feet to 90+ feet, they could hold much more supplies. Nowadays, there are only 2 items that need to be restocked frequently - fresh produce and water. Since most charter locations burst with fresh fruit and fish, only water needed to be solved.

myBVIcharter is the leading US yacht charter company offering a robust fleet of catamarans and motor yachts in the British Virgin Islands. The classic weekly itinerary sees all the yachts depart on Saturday in a counterclockwise direction towards Virgin Gorda and Anegada, looping on Tortola on the way back, with the last leg from Jost Van Dyke.

Depending on the day, yachts used to move like the “Spanish Armada”. As yachts started to adopt the water maker, they suddenly had more options to start from almost anywhere, as guests could be picked up on a tender. This means that travelers can start their charter on day 3, staying ahead of the main fleet while on the same itinerary.

In Greece, the effect is twofold as explained by Mo, the Charter Guru at myGreekcharter . Firstly, there are new ways to discover classic locations. Since the first yachts started allowing Santorini pickup/dropoff, other yachts chose to follow suit. Santorini does not have a marina, and the pickup with a tender was a game changer. The amount of water needed for 15 people made daily stocking impractical and the yachts chose to start and finish in Athens.

Secondly, new charter areas in Greece have become available. As new yachts continued to arrive, the Athens’ marinas were full around 2022. The new yachts needed to find new marinas. A fundamental question - “why do we need a marina?”, led to yachts operating in areas previously not touched by the crewed yachts - Sporades and Dodecanese islands.

As Daniel, the owner of DMA Yachting, explains, ”We’re seeing first 3-4 crewed yachts permanently stationed in the Sporades and 8-10 yachts in the Dodecanese. Previously, you had to charter from Athens and ideally take a 2-week charter. This is no longer the case - you can start almost anywhere.”

The situation with the motor yacht Bahamas is similar. The previously Nassau-centric model, where all yachts started in Nassau and went for a weekly “milk run” charter to the Exumas, is challenged. “People don’t want to charter in the same spot twice”, explains Mo. “With 2,400 Cays, why not start in Eleuthera or even Long Island? And if the charterer wants to start in Staniel Cay, why get there from Nassau? Start the charter there!”

The water maker is not a new technology. It’s been around for a long time. It’s the innovative use, wide adoption, and necessity to spend less or no time in the marina that made the yachts offered by myBVIcharter behave differently.

According to Daniel, owner of the DMA Yachting group comprised of myBVIcharter, Exotic Charters, Bahamas Motor Yachts & myGreekcharter, the adoption of water makers skyrocketed from a humble 30% to a whopping 100% in the last five years.

Due to over-tourism and overcrowding in mainstream locations, people seeking intimate retreats are becoming increasingly more interested in exotic spots like Thailand, Raja Ampat, Galapagos or Antarctica. A water maker onboard is the key technological change that made these new locations feasible.

Exotica Charters , a yacht charter specialist in emerging and remote locations owned by DMA Yachting, has also observed increasing deployment of water makers in its fleet. “We’re suddenly able to create completely new itineraries, as we can do a route ABCD instead of A to A. You can get picked up in B and dropped off at C a week later. We’re seeing multiweek charters covering huge distances, especially in the Med: Sardina/Corsica, France to Italy to Malta, Ionian to Turkey in Greece.”

From Polynesia, South East Asia, to the “newly discovered” Greek islands such as Skopelos and Kalimnos, through innovative ways to discover known Caribbean islands such as Anegada or Jost Van Dyke, the water maker and human resourcefulness are leading the yacht charter market development.
