Motor yacht CHILD'S PLAY (ex LOOSE ENDS, LIFE OF REILLEY, TOP TIMES) is a Burger 34.47 meter (113.1 Foot) luxury motor yacht which styled along the lines of an expedition/discovery yacht. Her full-displacement hull is ideal for comfortable passages and economical fuel consumption. The yacht’s expansive interior feels more like that of a 120 yacht, with a dramatic three-story staircase and exceptionally wide 25' beam. She was launched by the Burger in 2003, refitted in 2019 and offers deluxe accommodation for up to 10 guests in 5 cabins, with further accommodation for a crew of 6.

NOTABLE FEATURES OF CHILD'S PLAY: ~ 5 deluxe suites with bathrooms ~ elegant classic interiors ~ spacious sun deck ~ Jacuzzi ~ alfresco dining options ~ great selection of toys ~ gym equipment ~ stabilisers at anchor and underway ~ WiFi ~ air-conditioning

She has formal dining for eight or casual alfresco on the aft deck. CHILD'S PLAY provides numerous outdoor socializing areas with exquisite views from the flybridge and hot tub. Plenty of toys and sophisticated entertainments system will keep everyone happy. This yacht has excellent sea keeping abilities underway, and at anchor, the Zero-Speed Stabilization feature is a remarkable comfort enhancement.

This was Burger’s first foray into the expedition/discovery yacht world as a full-displacement hull with a round bilge that is ideally suited for yachts intending to make long passages with low power consumption. This yacht has excellent sea keeping abilities whether underway or using the computer-controlled Zero-Speed Stabilization feature while at anchor or fishing.

Amenities will include a dramatic three-story staircase, a sun deck with hot tub and helm station; a large family room/sky lounge; a gourmet, commercial galley; a full-beam main deck level master suite; four very large en suite guest staterooms below and crews’ quarters for five including an aft engineer’s suite.

CHILD'S PLAY is a beautifully crafted and spectacular motor yacht which is Burger's first expedition yacht and the first full displacement hull in the company's modern-day history. She boasts a classic, yet contemporary interior to complement her bold expedition, luxury yacht exterior.

Here Burger Yachts have designed a round bilge, full displacement hull that is suited for long passages, as she boasts low fuel consumption, or short hopes in comfortable luxury. Due to a computer-controlled, Zero-Speed Stabilization system, the hull offers exceptional stability in heavy seas or at anchor.

The yacht provides a superb balance of function, style and class. She is beautifully balanced and there is simply is no bad angle from which to view this yacht.

The Aft Deck is fully covered and offers a built-in dining table with seating along with a wet-bar with fastened stools. The aft deck is the most popular entertainment area on any boat and Top Times provides more than ample room for friends. The Portuguese Walk forward of the bridge incorporates dual settees for open-air bow banter and a good vantage point to keep watch over cold-chunks gone astray.

LOOSE ENDS' sky-Deck includes a sun deck with wrap around seating. The aft-mounted hot tub Spa Pool integrates everything from head-rests to drink holders. In the off-season, these tubs can double as a good storage compartment too.

The Foyer in the sky lounge is out of this world with its simulation of stars and space with a SuperNova casting a single concentrated beam on a globe of the earth. The many stars that make up the overhead lighting contribute to a soft illumination of the staircase.

Her sky lounge is rich in all the comforts of home, with ottomans free to float around the room to be positioned as needed. This lounge provides a 270-degree view aft which is only obstructed by something even more fun to look at… water toys on the aft deck.

The spiral Staircase, from the main deck to the sky lounge, illustrates some lovely wood-bending and there is an 180 degree twist in the laminated planks over a distance of less than 8 feet.

The Salon yacht's main saloon reflects classic and understated elegance. Whenever you’re onboard a Burger, the lineage is undeniable... just wonderful woodwork and a sense of comfort that Burger manages to capture and repeat with each vessel built. She also has an aft saloon which shows the attention to detail by the interior designer... the furnishings look as though they were carved from the same timber that dresses the rest of the room.

By Rick Reilly

Last Wednesday two men Linda Stone had never met, never seen, but couldn't stop thinking about stepped meekly through her door.

She gave them sodas and snacks. They sat. She sat. She looked at their sun-scorched skin and their blistered lips and wanted to cry. How could she not? After all, her husband traded his life for theirs.

Flashback two weeks earlier:

June 6. The Texas A&M-Galveston Offshore Sail Team is aboard a 38-foot sailboat named the Cynthia Woods, racing in the 700-mile Regata de Amigos, from Galveston to Veracruz, Mexico. It's a quarter to midnight. Three members of the six-man team—53-year-old safety officer Roger Stone, and two students, Steven Guy and Travis Wright—are resting in the sleeping quarters below deck. Suddenly, Guy notices that water is pouring up from below.

Stone has thousands of sailing hours. Been racing boats his whole life. He knows this is awful.

"It's the keel!" he hollers. He runs to the steps to tell those above. "We're taking on water! Crank the engine! Drop the sails!"

Then he whirls around at Guy and Wright, yells "Get out!" and scrambles back to help them.

Now the keel has ripped completely away, opening a huge hole in the bottom of the boat, which fills and flips in 30 seconds. And now the three men are in complete blackness, completely submerged and upside down.

In the sheer horror of the moment, Guy and Wright don't remember much, but they remember this: Stone got behind them and pushed them out of the wreckage. First one, then the other, he got them out.

At the surface, five of the sailors found each other. Everybody except Guy had a life jacket, so the four others tried to hold him up in the six-foot swells and the darkness and the terror. And as the boat drifted away from them, they kept hollering, "Roger! Roger!"

Those five drifted 20 miles off the coast for 26 hours, lashing themselves to each other with belts, keeping each other sane and alive with plans and stories and even jokes.

Back in Clear Lake, Texas, meanwhile, Linda Stone, her 14-year-old son and her 12-year-old daughter had been given word about an accident. And they held out hope.

"Roger is Mr. Quick Thinker," Linda says, "I thought, It's Roger. If anybody was going to be safe, it'll be Roger. He'll make everybody safe. I never thought he was going to die … that never, ever, ever crossed my mind."

What she didn't know was that he was already dead, had certainly died in the first minute, had died saving the lives of those two crewmates.

After floating for 26 hours, a U.S. Coast Guard helicopter spied a weak flashlight signal and rescued the bobbing five. All suffered severe sunburn and dehydration. Roger was found hours later, trapped in the boat. "He's gone," the Stones' son, Eric, posted on a sailing website. "He was a hero. He did his job as safety officer. He got those kids off the boat. He's in a better place now."

And that's about the moment Linda Stone realized that the man she married 18 years ago this week—in Veracruz, no less—was never coming home.

"I wish to God he were sitting next to me right now. But if he had saved himself and not those boys, I'd have a body next to me but not a person. He'd be an empty shell of a man. He did the right thing. And that gives me peace."

And that's why she invited the two boys— plus the three other crew members, plus a Texas A&M grief counselor—to her home, to tell them that it was all OK.

But for some reason, she just couldn't make them hear. Eyes wouldn't meet. "They're just 20-year-old boys," she thought. Finally, the counselor put them in a circle. He looked at Steven Guy and said, "I want you to say it: 'I am not responsible for Roger's death.'"

Steven looked at him, puzzled.

"Say it out loud," the counselor said.

"I am not responsible for Roger's death," Steven muttered.

The counselor made all of them repeat it, as a group: "Steven is not responsible for Roger's death," they said.

Then Travis. Then the others. All five said it—and all five heard it back. It was wrenching and cleansing and then it was over.

As they were leaving, Linda thought about saying something like, "You've been given a gift. Make the most of it." But she didn't need to. "They're such good and respectful young men. I know they will go on and live wonderful lives."

They hugged and promised to keep in touch and she closed the door.

But it's the damndest thing. No matter how many times she reads about her husband's death in the paper, and no matter how many sympathy cards she gets, and no matter how often she sees this story on TV, Linda Stone still looks at that same door and expects, any minute, somebody else to walk through.

Killer mike will not be charged in grammys arrest, killer mike no charges in grammys arrest.

Killer Mike 's legal troubles are behind him ... 'cause TMZ has learned he's officially off the hook for his pre-Grammys arrest, as long as he keeps his nose clean.

Prosecutors in the L.A. City Attorney's Office tell us they will not be filing charges against Mike for his confrontation with an event security guard, back in February, which led to his citizen's arrest.

We're told he successfully completed his city attorney hearing ... after which he agreed to do some community service with a non-profit organization of his choice.

That said, the City Attorney's Office added the Grammy winner needs to stay out of trouble for the next year, or they could reopen the case.

As we reported ... Killer Mike was booked for misdemeanor battery after he allegedly knocked down a security guard who didn't get out of his way outside Crytpo.com Arena, where the Grammys were going down.

We obtained video of Mike getting into a shouting match with security personnel -- though the footage doesn't show the alleged knockdown -- and being escorted out of the venue in handcuffs.

The good news for Mike that day was ... he won 3 Grammys!

Breaking: Rapper Killer Mike has been taken away in handcuffs in https://t.co/aF2yiyTHol arena after winning 3 #Grammys during telecast (Best Rap Song and Best Rap Performance for “Scientists & Engineers,” Best Rap Album for Michael) “Free Mike” someone shouts as he walks past. pic.twitter.com/4epfmzqMt8 — Chris Gardner (@chrissgardner) February 5, 2024 @chrissgardner

For his part, Mike called this whole situation one big misunderstanding with an overzealous security guard ... adding he and his team were confident an investigation would clear him of wrongdoing.

The whole incident is now, effectively, in Mike's rearview.

‘Torn to Shreds’: Man Might Lose Leg After Woman Backs Boat Propeller into Him in Alleged Drunken Accident

Kelly McCandless has been arrested in connection with the incident that seriously injured Kyle Lively

A Texas man has suffered severe injuries after a woman allegedly backed a boat propeller into him while intoxicated, authorities claim.

The incident took place on Saturday, June 22, when a boat driver allegedly backed over the man and “struck him with a propeller prop,” the Azle Fire Department tells PEOPLE.

The department did not confirm the identity of the alleged victim, but according to a GoFundMe set up by his family, he is Kyle Lively, a father of two , who was in Eagle Mountain Lake near Fort Worth, Texas.

His family says Lively was “unexpectedly thrown off the back of his boat” in the incident, an account the Azle Fire Department confirmed with NBC DFW .

“He was backed up over and his thighs and knees were torn to shreds by the propellers,” the family said in the fundraiser. “He was able to get himself to the surface of the water using his arms and will to live.”

When he called for help, Lively was reportedly saved by three people present at the scene who “tied tourniquets around his legs” and called emergency services, per the fundraiser.

Tarrant County Jail

Lively's sister, Marie Lively, told NBC DFW that her brother's left leg might be amputated.

“We just found out actually that there’s a high percentage that he might actually lose his left leg," she told the outlet.

In the GoFundMe, Lively's family expressed hope that he will recover, but they said the family will need financial help.

"The doctors hope he will be able to walk again, and we know that he will," they said in the fundraiser. "We also know this is going to be a long recovery, an uphill battle and a huge financial struggle for Kyle and his family."

Another price drop on superyacht Life of Reilley at IYC

News now from Frank Grzeszczak Sr and Jr at International Yacht Collection of a further $550,000 price drop on the 24.4m motor yacht Life of Reilley .

Life of Reilley is a late 2006 80ft Hatteras with an enclosed pilothouse. She’s been meticulously maintained by both her first owner and current owner alike, with no expense spared in upkeep of the yacht. In 2010, she was updated with an interior refit by a professional yacht designer, and in 2011 she had additional teak decking laid on the boat deck.

She's a four stateroom vessel, with two crew cabins. Each of the staterooms have full en suite bathrooms, with the master having both his-and-hers sides, separated by a gorgeous, marble walk-in shower. She has a spacious main saloon and country kitchen style galley. The enclosed pilothouse provides for a large and comfortable sky lounge.

Life of Reilley is down from $3,750,000 to $3,200,000.

Breaking news, wild video shows 5 giant sharks surrounding couple’s boat off massachusetts coast.

Thanks for contacting us. We've received your submission.

They’re gonna need a bigger boat.

A couple lobster fishing off the coast of Massachusetts spotted five enormous sharks surrounding their boat — all frighteningly larger than the vessel itself.

Perry and Carmel Long were cruising in their 18-foot boat near Westport on June 9 when they spotted a 25-foot shark lurking below the ocean’s surface and began filming while discussing whether it might be a whale.

“Oh my God, that is a frickin’ shark!” Carmel Long can be heard yelling, as the shark’s fin pops out of the water.

Five more of the massive man-eaters — all roughly the same size — then appeared close to the boat for roughly 20 minutes, they told The Patriot Ledger .

“They were just swimming around us. They were inches away from our boat,” said Perry Long, adding they were likely plant-munching basking sharks.

The couple had been trying to catch lobsters in pots when they unwittingly sunk their teeth into the scary side of marine life.

“We have a recreational 10-pot lobster license, so my family and I for years now have put our pots out at the beginning of the summer season and go out every 3 to 5 days to check and see if we have any lobsters,” Perry Long told the outlet.

“We’ve seen some smaller sharks over the years further out but this was the first time we saw something like this,” he said.

Basking sharks, which can grow over 40 feet, feed exclusively zooplankton.

Paul Bernon Snapped ‘Making Out’ with Aurora Culpo Amid Split From Bethenny Frankel

Paul Bernon was spotted on a boat ride with Aurora Culpo.

Paul Bernon at an event, Aurora Culpo at an event.

Paul Bernon has already moved on from ex Bethenny Frankel as he was spotted with Aurora Culpo in a recent outing.

According to an insider at Deuxmoi , the two were sitting next to one another on a boat ride in Rhode Island. While they both opted to wear sunglasses, the 35-year old wore a white dress with blue florals. Meanwhile the 45-year-old matched in blue tones rocking a light blue collared top with navy blue knee-length shorts.

Not only were they captured cozied up next to one another, but they were reportedly making out at The Quin House in Boston.

This sighting comes shortly after Paul ended his engagement with Bethenny Frankel, which they still have not publicly spoken about. “It just wasn’t going to work…They are so different – he’s an under the radar kind of guy,” an insider told Us Weekly .

The two started dating back in October 2018 after meeting “on a dating app.” She recalled the moment during an interview with People in April, “I was pretty lucky when I walked in and saw him…He had a twinkle. He came as advertised — better than advertised. He overshot the mark,” she told the outlet.

“Having such a supportive and loving partner makes me a better person & inspires me to achieve the impossible…Happy Anniversary! I love you and thank you for the most beautiful year!,” she captioned her Instagram post dedicated to their one-year anniversary while the two were on a boat ride.

In the past she faced hardship with her previous marriage to Jason Hoppy –with who she shares a daughter named Bryn —  which led her to wanting to protect her romance with Paul.

“ While on cloud nine at the time of her tropical engagement, she mentioned to People how “He’s [Paul] a good person who I love…I don’t know if it’s a yin to my yang, but he’s really relaxed, he’s mellow and he’s very, very funny.”

'A great life': Bishop Emeritus Daniel Patrick Reilly honored at funeral Mass

life of reilley yacht

WORCESTER ― Clergy at the Cathedral of Saint Paul were led by a processional cross, followed by candles and incense Wednesday morning to honor Daniel Patrick Reilly, the fourth bishop of Worcester, who died last week .

The procession, with Worcester Bishop Robert Joseph McManus at the end and also including Cardinal Sean Patrick O'Malley, the archbishop of Boston, led Reilly's coffin toward the altar; incense filled the air.

Concelebrants also included Fall River Bishop Edgar M. da Cunha; Providence Bishop Richard G. Henning; Springfield Bishop William D. Byrne; Norwich, Connecticut; Bishop Michael R. Cote; Portland, Maine, Bishop James T. Ruggieri.

Reilly died June 18 at age 96. On Wednesday morning, the cathedral was filled with parishioners who respected and loved him.

McManus, who delivered the mass's homily, hailed Reilly's devotion to the church.

"[He] never lost the joy and devotion as a priest and bishop through," McManus said. "Daniel Patrick Reilly was a man of the church."

McManus said he visited Reilly a "couple of weeks ago" to celebrate Reilly's birthday. McManus said Reilly grabbed his hand, and said, "hasn't it been a great life."

McManus told stories of Reilly's 49 years as a priest and bishop, including a time they both met Pope John Paul II. McManus described Reilly's "excitement" at the time – especially, McManus said, when Reilly grasped the pope's hand and kissed his ring.

"I will never forget the tender gesture of such faithful devotion and love to the successor of St. Peter," McManus said.

Pope John Paul II appointed Reilly was named bishop of Worcester in 1994. He submitted his resignation on May 12, 2003, his 75th birthday, at which point he became bishop emeritus of the Diocese of Worcester.

Reilly, one of nine children, was born in Providence, on May 12, 1928, son of Francis E. and Mary A. (Burns) Reilly.

McManus said Reilly understood what it meant to be a bishop and to serve the Catholic Church.

"My fervent prayer for Bishop Reilly, my brother, my mentor and my friend, is that when he closed his eyes in the sleep of death, he opened his eyes on the other side to see the beautiful face of the risen Christ, who is the eternal high priest and to hear the voice of the one who called him many years ago," McManus said. "May Daniel Patrick Reilly rest forever in the presence of our Father's house in heaven."

Where Shall We Seek for a Hero? Reflections on John Boyle O’Reilly

June 28, 2024 by Leave a Comment

John Boyle O'Reilly c., 1870

180 years after his birth on June 28, 1844, the lessons of legendary Irish rebel, patriot, poet and activist John Boyle O’Reilly deserve to be remembered and cherished.

In today’s society of discontent and distrust mingled with guarded hope and optimism, O’Reilly would be hailed simultaneously as a disruptor of the status quo, a man unafraid to speak truth to power, a uniter not a divider, a change-maker. He would be recognized as both an American patriot and an Irish patriot in equal measure. He would be valued for his friendship and loyalty, for his unfettered curiosity and sense of adventure, and for his sense of purpose to something bigger than himself, namely, the principles of democracy, liberty and freedom.

As a young man living in post-famine Ireland, O’Reilly (1844-1890) first gained notoriety as an escaped convict from an atrocious and imperialist brand of British justice. Sentenced at age 23 to life imprisonment for sedition against the Crown, he and his fellow Irish rebels were shipped to a penal colony on the outer edge of western Australia, a part of the world known as No Man’s Land.

Within months, O’Reilly made a daring escape, scrambling at night through the desert and the bush before rowing out to sea on a boat and jumping aboard the New Bedford whaling ship  Gazelle  that carried him across the high seas. The whaler was frantically pursued by British ships hoping to capture O’Reilly and prevent him from becoming another hero in the Irish cause.

Arriving in America in 1869, O’Reilly spent a brief time in Philadelphia and New York City before visiting Boston in January 1870, where he quickly decided to settle. He spent the final two decades of his brief but shining life here, where his legend truly took shape.  O’Reilly’s early infamy quickly turned to fame, for it was as a writer, orator and unabashed defender of the downtrodden that his lasting contribution to society became apparent.

O'Reilly was photographed while a prisoner in Mountjoy, 1866 (New York Public Library). He would soon after be transferred to England where he spent time in prisons such as Millbank and Dartmoor, among others.

A printer’s apprentice as a boy and a journalist briefly by trade, O’Reilly used his language and literary skills to secure a job at Patrick Donahoe’s  Boston Pilot  newspaper, the mouthpiece for Boston’s Irish Catholic community with a national readership. His first assignment was covering the failed Fenian invasion into Canada in April 1870, and before long he was promoted to editor and eventually became co-publisher of the newspaper.

The  Pilot  gave O’Reilly a perfect platform to pursue his most cherished cause: Ireland’s freedom from British rule. This advocacy caused the British to double down on their acrimony toward him; they refused to let O’Reilly return to Ireland for his father’s funeral in 1871 and vowed to arrest him if he came to Canada for a speaking engagement.

But he persisted, advocating for Ireland’s Land League and Home Rule movements,  and welcoming Michael Davitt, Charles Stewart Parnell and numerous Irish leaders to Boston. In 1876 O’Reilly and John Devoy hatched a daring plan to rescue six of the remaining Irish prisoners still in Freemantle. They employed another New Bedford whaling ship, the  Catalpa , to pull off one of the great escapes of the 19th century.

Perhaps O’Reilly’s most enduring contribution was his tireless efforts to reconcile the city’s fractured racial and ethnic factions. He immediately befriended the Yankee establishment, who admired his poetry and intellect, even while he firmly admonished them for their own prejudices. He defended African Americans seeking post-Civil War equality and Indigenous tribes being slaughtered out West. He was sympathetic to new immigrants such as Jews and Chinese, insisting that they deserved the same privileges as Americans.

O’Reilly’s active alliance and friendship with local Black leaders such as Frederick Douglas and Lewis B. Hayden put into motion a continuous tradition of respect, common purpose and mutual support between Boston’s Irish and Black communities that remains unbroken today, despite challenges and setbacks along the way.

In his famous poem about Crispus Attucks, a sailor of mixed African and Indigenous ancestry and the first victim of the Boston Massacre, O’Reilly posed the question, ‘Where shall we seek for a hero, and where shall we find a story?’ before praising Attucks and the other American patriots who stood up to British tyranny and created the United States of America.

O’Reilly’s power as an orator was legendary. He was chosen to recite original poems at the Boston Massacre Monument dedication on Boston Common, the Pilgrim Fathers Monument dedication in Plymouth, and Memorial Day and Veterans Day services in Everett. He spoke with passion and conviction at multiple gatherings, from the Thomas Moore centennial banquet at the Parker House and the gravesite of Fenian Thomas J. Kelly at Mt. Hope Cemetery to the Massachusetts Colored League convention at Faneuil Hall.

Leading American writers of the day such as Ralph Waldo Emerson and Walt Whitman openly admired O’Reilly, and so did Irish writers Oscar Wilde and W.B. Yeats. In fact, Yeats credited O’Reilly as being among the first editors to publish his early poems in the 1880s.

In addition to his intellectual interests, O’Reilly was a celebrated amateur sportsman who believed in the physical, mental and spiritual benefits of sports.  His 1888 book , Ethics of Boxing and Manly Sports , included a treatise on pugilism — he was friends with heavyweight champion John L. Sullivan — and sketches of O’Reilly’s canoe trips throughout New England and Pennsylvania. An essay in the book, “How to Grow Strong by Exercise, Training, Diet and Sleep,” was described by one newspaper as “probably the most complete study of this important subject ever made in this country.”

O’Reilly was an original founder of the now-famous Boston Athletic Association, founded in 1887.  The BAA put together the American team for the first modern U.S. Olympic Games in 1896, and the following year, created the Boston Marathon, which the BAA still runs today.

He was affectionately called Boyle by his many friends and admirers and had a rich and fulfilling family life with his wife and four daughters.

John Boyle O'Reilly plaque at the Hull Library, Hull, MA.

Looking through today’s lens of social progress, O’Reilly had one glaring blind spot: he was adamantly against the women’s suffrage movement. He wrote in an 1885 editorial, “Women ought to be fully guarded by law in all rights of property, labor, profession, but roughly stated, the voting population ought to represent the fighting population.”

Had he lived beyond his 46 years, I like to believe O’Reilly would have tempered his views and gotten on the right side of history.  His wife Mary Murphy was a talented writer whom he met at the  Boston Pilot , and he encouraged numerous young women writers such as Katharine Conway, Louise Imogen Guiney, Fanny Parnell and Minnie Gilmore. After his death, three of his four daughters — Mary, Elizabeth and Agnes, went on to become trail-blazing women in the spirit of their cherished father.

As activists, educators and writers, the O’Reilly sisters collectively exposed unfair labor laws against women and children, started experimental schools, covered World War I as reporters from the front lines, lectured widely and published several books, all the while confronting hypocrisy and inequality wherever they found it. They would have surely made their parents proud.

Nearly two centuries after his birth and 134 years after his death, the answer to John Boyle O’Reilly’s poetic musing, ‘Where shall we seek a hero . . .’ may well be O’Reilly himself.

O’Reilly Landmarks in Massachusetts

Today, O’Reilly’s stature as a seminal figure in Irish and Irish-American history is particularly evident in his beloved birthplace of Dowth, County Meath; in Freemantle, Australia where he was imprisoned; and indeed, throughout the Irish Diaspora.

In Massachusetts, O’Reilly remains popular in Boston, New Bedford, Hull and Springfield where there is a selection of memorials and plaques, parks and city squares, library collections and Irish organizations honoring O’Reilly’s memory.

  • In Boston, the John Boyle O’Reilly  Memorial at the corner of Boylston Street and The Fens, not far from Fenway Park, was unveiled in 1896 by famed Concord sculptor Daniel French. The Memorial is part of Boston’s Irish Heritage Trail.

John Boyle O'Reilly Tombstone, Holyhood Cemetery, Brookline, MA.

  • At Holyhood Cemetery, 584 Heath Street, Brookline, the centerpiece of O’Reilly’s gravesite is a giant stone from the church on which O’Reilly carved his initials with a nail as a young boy in Dowth, adorned with a bronze portrait bust of O’Reilly by sculptor John O’Donoghue. Each June, local Hibernians hold a mass at O’Reilly’s gravesite.
  • The Boston Public Library and John J. Burns Library at Boston College each have replica O’Reilly busts by O’Donoghue and valuable collections of correspondence by and about O’Reilly and his daughters.
  • O’Reilly’s summer home in Hull, where he died on August 10, 1890, from an accidental overdose of medication, is today the town’s public library. It is part of the South Shore Irish Heritage Trail.
  • The Whaling Museum at 18 Johnny Cake Hill in New Bedford has great information about the city’s famous Whaling Ships of the 19th century, including the  Gazelle  and  Catalpa .
  • In Springfield, the John Boyle O’Reilly Club at 33 Progress Avenue was organized in 1904 by Irish immigrants living in western Massachusetts and remains active today.
