Lil Yachty Teases New Playboi Carti Collab

Lil Yachty has teased a collaboration with Playboi Carti , posting a picture of a double-stacked cup on top of an opium briefcase. If true, it would be their first collab. In 2018, Carti featured on Yachty's "Get Dripped". Then, in 2020, Yachty, along with Future , featured on Carti's "Flex Up".

Fans were understandably stoked for the collab. "I mean they already got bangers so thats a no brainer," one fan noted. "Bro that’s literally the nicest duo we didn’t know we needed 💯💯," gushed another. "Well ofc !! That would be the smartest thing to do especially if they ain’t beefin," reasoned a third. Playboi Carti "Antagonist" Tour Allegedly Postponed Over Homixide Gang Legal Battle

However, it's not been all good news for Carti. Fans are speculating that the recent postponement of his Antagonist Tour due to the legal battle that Homixide Gang is involved in due to jumping Summrs at a concert late last year. With HG tied up in a dispute with Live Nation, the tour is now in limbo. However, none of this is substantiated by official sources and appears to come from Playboi Carti's official fan Discord server.

Homixide Gang jumped Summrs at BoxFest back in November 2023. A video, shot by an audience member, shows a large brawl occurring on stage in the middle of the show. It's unclear what caused the altercation. However, Reddit users claim to have seen a second video showing members of the rap group rushing the stage. Summrs' first track after the incident, "Check Me Out", appeared to include several references to both the incident and other allegations against the group. "I DM one these n-gga's hoes, I'm tryna see if the b-tch go" has been taken as a shot at the grooming allegations against the group . Furthermore, several bars directly reference the jumping and the subsequent threats Summrs made in return.

Lil Yachty Addresses Critics Suggesting He Bit Playboi Carti's Style

Lil Yachty is fighting back against critiques of one of his new songs — at least those critiques that accuse him of biting Playboi Carti ‘s style.

On Wednesday (March 20), Lil Boat responded to a social media user who responded to a snippet of a new track, previewed by Kai Cenat , by saying: “Carti can’t try 1 new sound without rappers immediately biting him, he’s generational.”

The “Poland” rapper objected strongly to the idea that he’d taken inspiration from Carti.

“[H]ow did i bite him?” Yachty asked. “[T]he beat? if that’s the case i been workin with cardo since 2019-2020 on record yall fans be smoking the strongest dick.”

Yachty and Carti both have extensive histories with producer Cardo. The beatmaker has produced or co-produced many of Carti’s recent singles, including “H00dByAir,” “Backr00ms” and “EvilJ0rdan.” Yachty’s own history with Cardo, as he mentioned, dates back years , and he has released music with the producer as recently as last month .

Yachty received some more positive feedback earlier this month when two of his albums exceeded half a million each in sales units .

The Recording Industry Association of America  certified the rapper and singer’s 2016 debut  Lil Boat  and its 2018 sequel  Lil Boat 2  gold.

This accolade by the trade organization honors 500,000 album sales or equivalent units, which both packages have surpassed separately since their releases via Quality Control and Motown Records.

The original  Lil Boat  put the Atlanta artist on the map. Its follow-up two years later debuted at No. 2 on the US  Billboard  chart, marking him as a full-fledged star.

Yachty wasn’t the only artist to get RIAA hardware recently. Last month, SZA  earned seven new gold and platinum certifications for songs released as part of 2022’s SOS .

“Open Arms” featuring Travis Scott , “Seek & Destroy” and “Ghost In The Machine” featuring Phoebe Bridgers all reached platinum status for the first time (meaning each cut sold over 1,000,000 units), whereas “I Hate U” and “Snooze” went three and four times platinum respectively. Most notably, “Good Days” attained 6x platinum status.

Additionally, “Conceited” has been certified gold, with 500,000 units sold.

Lil Yachty Shuts Down Playboi Carti Sound Comparisons

Earlier this week, Kai Cenat previewed an unreleased song from Lil Yachty during his livestream. After fans accused the “A Cold Sunday” artist of copying Playboi Carti’s cadence, he decided to respond on Twitter yesterday (March 20) evening.

“Biting him? How did I bite him? The beat? If that’s the case, I [have] been workin’ with Cardo since 2019 or 2020 on record. Y’all fans be smoking the strongest d**k,” Yachty quote-tweeted a social media user’s shade. The original post that he responded to read, “Carti can’t try one new sound without rappers immediately biting him. He’s generational.”

Cardo, who’s known for producing songs for Drake, Travis Scott, and Kendrick Lamar, has worked on several of Carti’s recent releases. The Grammy-winning beatmaker is responsible for “H00DBYAIR,” “KETAMINE,” “ EVILJ0RDAN ,” and “BACKR00MS,” all of which are expected to appear on the musician’s next album.

Unfortunately for Yachty, people pointed out more alleged similarities than just the beat. One account wrote, “The song is terrible. The beat is a ‘H00DBYAIR’-type beat. Your flow is an obvious attempt at a Carti flow, and you used a ‘what’ ad-lib in the same cadence [that] Carti uses.”

Yachty also dismissed accusations of him copying Carti last year. In July 2023, DJ Akademiks claimed the Whole Lotta Red artist “made him change his entire sound” during a livestream . The music commentator further alleged that records like “Poland” and “Strike (Holster)” drew influence from the Georgia native.

However, Yachty quickly pointed out, “[You are] so insane. I didn’t tell [you] this at all. Stop drinking, bro. I said [Tyler, The Creator] encouraged me to take that route.”

In 2023, the QC rapper put out Let’s Start Here. , which featured Justine Skye, Teezo Touchdown, Daniel Caesar, Diana Gordon, and Fousheé. It saw him venturing into psychedelic rock and spawned songs like “​​​drive ME crazy!” and “pRETTy.”

Lil Yachty – Flex Up Ft. Future, Playboi Carti

“Flex Up” by Lil Yachty  featuring  Future  and  Playboi Carti . The single off of his deluxe album — cleverly named  Lil Boat 3.5 —  came late last night, complimented with a psychedelic, otherworldly music video.

The track starts off with Future rapping a capella before a hefty beat drops about six seconds in. If you’ve been looking for a track to hype you up, look no further. From the get-go, it is an absolute banger and definitely not for the faint of heart or for somebody trying to wind down.

The music video is equally exciting. Yachty, Future, and Playboi appear to be in an empty movie theater — which on paper might not sound that thrilling. But the trippy lighting and visual effects prove otherwise.

Metal Band Falling in Reverse’s Ronnie Radke Claims He Took 100 Percent of Playboi Carti’s Merch Profits for Selling Shirts With Band’s Name

Metal band Falling in Reverse ’s Ronnie Radke is again calling out Playboi Carti  about the lawsuit he filed against the rapper for using the band's name on merch. Now he's claiming he took 100 percent of the Carti's merch profits as the result of the settlement.

Ronnie Radke Gives Details on Playboi Carti Suit

On Monday (June 10), Radke responded to a user on X , formerly known as Twitter, who questioned if the rock star had in fact sued Carti.

"Put my band name on a shirt, I asked him nicely to take down he can keep the money just take it down," Radke recounted. "He replied 'my bad I got you' left it up, warned him 3 more times he left me on read."

Angered by being ignored, Radke then took legal action. "After sued him, he tried negotiating a small % I said get f**ked I’m taking 100% and also he paying my lawyer fees," Radke continued. "He ultimately settled for 100% sent me all the profit. abd asked me to stop talking about him online. Cause he’s got this rock n roll goth boi image or whatever to uphold. so in shorter terms. playboi carti had to hand me a bag."

Ronnie radke's beef with playboi carti.

The issue between Playboi Carti and Falling in Reverse started in December of 2020, when the rapper put out T-shirts in the  Whole Lotta Red merch line  with the band's name on them. This led to the aforementioned lawsuit. This isn't the first time since the lawsuit that Radke has brought up the incident. Back in February, he commented  about coming out on top in the Carti suit after the "Magnolia" rapper appeared to take the bag and run during a very brief interview with streamer Adin Ross .

"Playboy carti scamming adin ross out of money isn’t even half of what he had to pay me for selling my band name on his shirt," Radke tweeted about the rumored $2 million Ross spent on the interview.

Summer Smash marks a rare festival performance for both Travis Scott and Playboi Carti this year, with the Chicago festival claiming the only North American dates currently on the 2024 calendar.

Famed Chicago rapper Chief Keef (Sunday) will close out the three-day festival after a 10-year hiatus from performing in his home state of Illinois, which should make for one of the most monumental homecomings in modern music.

With this new lineup comes new dates, moving up to June 14-16, 2024. Any affected 2024 ticket-buyers will have the option to receive a full refund or push their tickets to Summer Smash 2025 if they are unable to attend this year’s event, with more details available on the festival website.

Summer Smash will return to SeatGeek Stadium having received an overwhelming amount of positive fan feedback. Located roughly 30 minutes from downtown Chicago in nearby Bridgeview, Illinois, the outdoor event will house three main stages – one of them outdoors within a world-class sports stadium, while the other is custom-built and constructed on outdoor turf nearby including a smaller third performance stage placed underneath a massive open-air tent.

Fans can also look forward to further improvements to production, sound, and lighting by organizers this June. Festival-goers can also find many visual elements inspired by Lyrical Lemonade’s recently released album sprinkled throughout the festival grounds such as the iconic All Is Yellow Tent as seen in the album’s viral music videos.

Once inside the festival grounds, fans will also be treated to dozens of art installations and local food vendors, plus massive sponsorship activations spread across the sprawling multi-acre space, with more details coming soon.
