Lil Yachty Explains How a Poland Spring Water Bottle Inspired Viral Track “Poland”

During an appearance in a reaction video to his latest visual, Lil Yachty has revealed the story of how his viral track “Poland” came together.

In an appearance in a reaction video to the Cole Bennett-directed music video  with the YouTube channel ZIAS!, the Georgia rapper revealed what inspired the catchy hook.

“I’ma tell y’all the truth. I was in the studio, right, working on my new album,” Yachty said, as seen around the 4:30 point of the video above. “And I was actually just trolling. My mans was just drinking a Poland Springs water bottle.”

The hosts interjected, “And that’s how it happened?”

The 25-year-old replied with a smile, “Yeah, I mean obviously I had some wock, but he had a Poland Springs water bottle.” He also explained that he never really even finished the song, but decided to put it out anyway to capitalize on its building virality.

“I was like, ‘Damn.’ And the song was a joke! I was just trolling,” he continued. “It leaked, and that’s why I was like, technically it’s not finished. It’s just a verse. I never finished the song, but it went crazy. So I was like, ‘Shit, I might as well put it out.’” He also conceded that he doesn’t agree with the idea of “holding out” a song after a leak spreads on the internet, which is a common practice among many artists.

During the reaction video, Lil Yachty was also asked if he actually snuck the wock into Poland, as he raps on the song.

“Nah, but now I got to,” he said.

Lil Yachty kept it light-hearted when he responded to a tattoo roast that went left.

Yachty has had one of his best years in the rap game since coming on the scene in the mid-2010s. The Mableton, Georgia, native has released a constant stream of new music and projects that have separated him from some of the criticism he had early in his career about being a “mumble rapper.”

His latest projects have ranged from gritty Detroit bars to bouncy pop-sounding tunes, and now he has more of a psychedelic feel to some of his new music. Fans have fallen in love with his new wide-ranging approach to his songs, but that love didn’t save him from getting roasted recently.

One X (Twitter) user posted a shirtless picture of Lil Boat with the caption , “Rappers spend so much money on jewelry but never on a good tattoo artist.” The picture showed off Yachty’s torso, littered with a random assortment of tattoos of different sizes and styles.

To run down a few of them: he has concrete tatted under his chest, but each letter is a different symbol. He has “Daddy Soldier” and “Momma Baby” on his left and right biceps, respectively. There’s a stick figure on his left forearm, and he has a compass to the right of his left nipple.

One social media commenter joked about his ink, saying, “Bro need to refund his tattoos.”

Another commenter stated, “Bro looks like one of them notebooks you draw on when you tryna kill time.”

While some people kept the jokes about his tattoos, other commenters started attacking Yachty’s figure.

“Why does his body look so flat bro is 2d.”

While many people wouldn’t have responded to the roast session, Yachty reacted in an unexpected way. The rapper acknowledged that he was getting flamed, replying, “Yea my tats suck hahahaha.” He followed the now-deleted post with a video of boxer Adrien Broner saying, “I ain’t gon’ lie, I’m getting cooked.”

Yachty didn’t stay down, though. Later that night, on Oct. 3, he performed in Toronto for his “The Field Trip Tour.” Fans at the concert got a major surprise, as Yachty’s friend and collaborator Drake made a guest appearance.

The “Slime You Out” rapper told the concertgoers that he came straight from his studio to the concert and that he was finishing up his latest album, “For All The Dogs,” which came out on Oct. 6. He also revealed to anxious fans that Yachty was on the new album before rapping his “Meltdown” verse from the venue’s mezzanine.

Lil Yachty And Veeze Are Unapologetic About Their Lifestyles In The ‘Sorry Not Sorry’ Video

Lil Yacthy has taken a hiatus from social media, but not from the booth. Today (August 16), two of the “ Hate Me ” rapper’s latest collaborations hit streaming platforms.

As an added bonus, Lil Yachty’s joint track with Veeze , “Sorry Not Sorry,” arrived with an official video presented by Lyrical Lemonade .

The moody visual — co-directed by AMD and Little Miles — has one purpose: to show both recording artists in their elements. As Veeze enjoys a double-cup drink, he lists off what he’s being able to accomplish with his fame.

“I done popped out, feelin’ like Odd Future, Tyler, the Creator my Luis / Them boys ain’t smoked like five opps, that’s a whole pack of loose-leaf / This eighth came straight from auntie / We pink slip boys, no car lease / My cup all pink like a Barbie / I’m sorry, not sorry like Beyoncé,” raps Veeze.

In his verse, Lil Yachty puts up what Veeze laid down in the record’s opening. “I got seven homes filled with clothes, Sauce on the way in this b*tch / I ain’t talkin’ ’bout no TV shows, but I still got Bear in this bitch / I had to figure it out the hard way, no, I don’t care, lil’ b*tch / I never talk sh*t online, but check it in real life, I’ll never struggle again / I done helped out my mans / I put my mom in a brand new Benz,” raps Yachty.

He makes it clear that he hears on the online chatter, but frankly he just doesn’t care.

Lil Yachty Confirms Karrahbooo Has Split From Concrete Boys

Fans speculated Karrahbooo was no longer affiliated with Lil Yachty and his Concrete Boys collective when some noticed she was no longer included in their Instagram bio. Fans also peeped that she unfollowed group members on Twitter and didn't perform with them at Broccoli City over the weekend.

Well, it looks like their suspicions have been confirmed, as Lil Yachty went on Instagram Live Monday (July 29) to formally announce he and Karrahbooo have parted ways. "I'mma say this s-t one time," he told fans. "We have split ways with Karrah as far as this Concrete s-t. I have nothing bad to say, nothing negative to say about Karrah. I wish her the best in her career."

Boat also said that he's "never going to speak on this again," and mentioned that he's not looking to replace her with another female rapper.

Karrahbooo started as Yachty's assistant and eventually showed interest in rap because she wanted to turn that into an acting career. "I'm only rapping because I saw Boat doing a movie when I was his assistant, and that's the day I was like, ‘I want to be a rapper,' because you can just be an actor from being a rapper if you're fly enough. That's how Boat did it," she said in an interview with Montreality in November. Her rap career started to take off after she had the standout verse on the Concrete Boys' appearance on the freestyle YouTube show On the Radar .

Karrahbooo has yet to respond to Yachty, but still refers to herself as "Concrete KB" in her Instagram bio .

For nearly four decades, Flavor Flav has been a fixture in hip-hop culture. As a co-founder of the iconic Public Enemy , the Long Island native was an original “hype man” and a key contributor to the group’s seminal albums including Yo! Bum Rush the Show , (1987),   It Takes a Nation of Millions to Hold Us Back (1988),  Fear of a Black Planet (1990), Apocalypse 91... The Enemy Strikes Black (1991), and several more.

A pioneer in reality TV, Flav appeared in The Surreal Life, Strange Love , and in three seasons of his popular shoe Flavor of Love.

For his latest endeavor, Flav is serving as the official sponsor of the Women and Men’s USA Water Polo team. In this capacity, the rap legend will make appearances at USA Water Polo events and use his social media following to bring more attention to the sport.

During the Paris Summer Olympics, Flav made his presence known as the team's biggest cheerleader and was seen supporting other American athletes in their various competitions as only he could.

BET.com spoke with Flav about partnering with the USA water polo team, his favorite Olympic experiences, and his commitment to empowering women in sports.

“I never thought that I would ever be at the Olympics. It was a dream to me that came true, man. The only time I watched the Olympics was on television and I always wanted to know what it feels like to be at the Olympic games. So God granted me the opportunity to be able to go and see what that feels like,” Flav told BET.com. “When I was over in Paris, I had the most amazing experience of my life to be there watching the athletes perform.”

When an Instagram post about the struggles of the water polo team came to his attention. Flav decided to take action and help them get to Paris to compete.

“It all started with Maggie Steffans , the captain of the water polo team who shared a post on Instagram about how hard they work when they're not competing in the Games,” Flav said. “When they're home, they’re living active lives, working two or three jobs. They're out there busting their ass to make the United States look good.”

“So I thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to see if I could help and give them that little extra push so they could go and compete for that fourth gold medal,” he continued. “Even though they didn't get the gold medal this year, I’m still proud of them and I commend the girls. That’s how I became the sponsor of the United States Olympic water polo team. 

After learning the dynamics of the game, Flav gained an even greater appreciation for water polo players.

“Water polo is one of the hardest sports played in the Olympic Games. When I first saw water polo on TV, it looked like they were running around the pool. But they are swimming in seven-and-a-half feet deep and their feet can’t touch the floor,” he said. “They have to tread water the entire time. The one who really treads water is the goalie Ashley Johnson so my heart goes out to her because that girl did her thing.”

In Paris, Flav even got a chance to practice with the team and try his hand at water polo.

“Let me tell you something, I jumped in the water with the girls. and I was in that water for a total of seven minutes. It was like the hardest seven minutes in the water in my life [Laughed]. Oh, They even gave me the opportunity to try to score a goal on Ashley. They said I did good, because your boy Flavor Flav, scored two goals,” Flav said.

As an official sponsor, Flav's vision is to increase the visibility of water polo and to galvanize support for the team beyond their appearance in the Olympics.

“I really wanted to bring more attention to this sport. The team just wants to be recognized for what they do. We know it's not big like basketball, baseball, soccer, or rugby,” Flav explained. “But I want people to remember water polo, not just when the girls or the guys are in the water but when they’re out of the water. I'm just trying to make the sport a little bigger than it is.”

After learning that Jordan Chiles would be stripped of her bronze medal due to a controversial technicality , Flav offered to give her a bronze clock to show the gymnast how much he appreciated her. He shared how much he admires Chiles.

“Jordan, Chiles is an incredible athlete. That bronze medal was well deserved. It's a really messed up feeling to go out there, earn that medal, work as hard as she worked, and for her to be stripped of that, I know that has to be one of the most devastating feelings that an athlete could feel,” Flav said. “As a kind gesture, I wanted to give her a bronze clock, which I know will never, ever take the place of a gold medal. We all know that. But I wanted to show her where my heart is.”

Flav is also creating a song and allocating the revenue from the sales to Chiles who lost out on the money associated with a medal win because she was stripped of the medal.

“We're taking He Got Game, and we're turning it into, She Got Game which is a new women's empowerment record that we're working on,” he continued. “We're going to release a song and part of the proceeds will go to Jordan Chiles to make up for the money that she would have made for that bronze medal. I'm going to make sure she gets that money in her pocket and her just-due. “

Flav got to meet tennis legend Billie Jean King , and Casey Wasserman , the chairman of the 2028 Olympic Games in LA. During his time at the Olympics, Flav met many more enthusiasts who were inspired by his passion for sports. Flav shared some of his favorite moments with BET.com.

“I watched Simone Biles win that gold medal. On her way to the podium, I yelled down to her and she looked up and waved to me. That was amazing,” Flav said. “I saw the Women's rugby game when they won the bronze medal. After the game, I got to meet the team and they gave me love. I was able to try on one of their medals.”

“First Lady Doctor Jill Biden requested to meet me and I didn't even know this woman had any idea who Flavor Flav was. Her wanting to meet me and to embrace her grandkids was one of the greatest moments in my life,” Flav continued. “Also the incredible Spike Lee came through supporting his boy, Flavor Flav, and the water polo team.”
