Mercedes-AMG G63 Yachting Limited Edition Offers Insane Decadence

The 2020 Mercedes-AMG G63 is a bit of an enigma in the auto industry. While it began as a stripped out, military off-roader, the G Wagon somehow morphed into a status symbol amongst the Hollywood elite and professional athletes. In AMG form, the G-Class produces 577 horsepower from a 4.0-liter twin-turbo V8, yielding a 0-60 mph time of around 4.5 seconds. With a starting price of $156,450 combined with a lengthy waiting list, only important people get to drive a G63.

But if you do manage to nab a G63 and want yours to stand out, aftermarket tuner Carlex Design is now offering a new limited edition model called the G Yachting. This is not the first G-Class to be based on a boat, as Mercedes itself previously released the G63 Cigarette Edition with a matching Tirranna AMG Edition speedboat . But in our opinion, the Carlex Design G-Class is even more opulent.

Unlike some other tuners, Carlex has decided not to mess with the G-Wagen's rugged looks. Instead, the tuner has focused on offering lower body paint schemes (polar white or brushed silver) with an upper-body painted in satin black. Either of these two colors is then paired with the most unique styling feature, a brushed metal roof, which matches the 22-inch brushed alloy wheels.

Inside, the Mercedes G Yachting Limited Edition is offered with a choice of two interior colors. Buyers can choose between off-white leather with Alcantara or cognac leather with light accents. If we were able to choose between the two, we'd opt for the off-white for its sheer decadence.

The colors aren't the only elements Carlex has changed on the interior. The headliner, for instance, has been decorated with a glossy flower of the winds embroidery coupled with streaking lines across the cabin. Carlex has also wrapped the steering wheel with top quality leather and added wood covers, which match the wooden floor and link to the car's yachting inspiration. When you drive up to the yacht club in this G-Wagen, people will take notice.

This custom Mercedes G63 Yachting Edition likely smells like a sauna full of cowboys

Carlex design's custom creation has real wood paneling and an opulent nautical theme.

mercedes yacht edition

Carlex Design makes cars you can smell. Each of the company's custom vehicles, whether it be a Yamaha V-Max or a Ferrari F12 or a Mercedes-Benz Sprinter, strictly features high-quality materials that tickle the tactile and olfactory senses. Its newest creation, the Mercedes-AMG G63 Yachting Limited Edition, is no different. Carlex announced the new G-Class this week, and it features a wood-laden interior that likely smells like a sauna full of cowboys.

It's not often the interior of a car achieves Lead Image Status, but in the case of the Carlex Design Mercedes-AMG G63 G-Yachting Limited Edition, there was no other choice. Taste is up to the personal eye, but this is a rare overly done customization that works well and maintains class. Two interiors are previewed in the gallery, one light and one dark, but both feature the same central nautical theme.

The ceiling of the Yachting Edition features striped slats with a large branded compass in the center. The slats mimic the design of the wood paneling that is seen on the floor, the doors, the dashboard, the seatbacks, and most significantly, on the rear cargo area. The wood is complemented by supple leather, Alcantara, and real metal accents. Ribbed seatbacks and door panels continue the marine vibe, as do small circles on the seats and trim pieces that seem to mimic rivets. One interior design features a nearly all-white look, while the other offers a two-tone brown and white appearance.

The exterior, though not as wild as the interior, was also customized. Much of the body is crafted from brushed metal panels, and the G63 sits on 22-inch wheels. The hood and greenhouse are painted flat black, and the spare tire cover also features a branded compass.

The G63 Yachting Limited Edition is available now for custom ordering at a custom price.

This Mercedes G-Wagen with wood floors is for people who can't decide between a yacht and an SUV — see inside the G63 'Yachting Edition'

  • Car-customization company Carlex Design released images of its latest creation — a luxurious Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen built specifically for fans of yachting.
  • The SUV, called the G-Yachting Edition, is based on the Mercedes-AMG G63 — a twin-turbocharged, 577-horsepower behemoth with a starting price of $156,450 from Mercedes.
  • The Carlex version has wood floors, tons of leather trim, and an intricate compass design embroidered in the ceiling.
  • The company also offers a yacht-themed package for the Mercedes X-Class pickup — complete with teak decking in the bed — but the X-Class itself was never sold in the US.
  • Visit Business Insider's homepage for more stories .

Insider Today

The Mercedes-Benz G-Wagen is already a display of wealth and excess, and its souped-up sibling, the 577-horsepower Mercedes-AMG G63, is completely over the top.

But one company evidently didn't think the G63 AMG was excessive enough, so it and mashed the boxy Merc up with a yacht to create one of the wildest G-Wagens on the market today.

The company, Carlex Design — which blings out car, plane, and boat interiors — has released detailed renderings of its latest project: an upgraded G-Wagen designed for yachting enthusiasts.

First brought to our attention by Autoblog , the G-Yachting Limited Edition — whose name gets right to the point — features nautical-themed accents that boat fanatics who can afford it are sure to love, like a wood-trimmed steering wheel, an embroidered compass design on the headliner, and wood decking throughout.

It comes in two exterior and two interior color options, and is available to custom order now.

See inside the lavish G-Wagen that Carlex built for "enthusiasts of luxury and marine style" below:

Customization company Carlex Design — which tricks out plane, car, and boat interiors — built a Mercedes G-Wagen specifically for yachting enthusiasts.

mercedes yacht edition

Meet the G-Yachting Limited Edition — a thoroughly blinged out, nautically themed SUV based on the latest-generation Mercedes-AMG G63.

mercedes yacht edition

The $156,450 G63 is already over the top, sporting a massive, twin-turbocharged V8 that puts out 577 horsepower and 627 pound-feet of torque.

mercedes yacht edition

But the folks at Carlex have found a way to take the G63 up a notch.

mercedes yacht edition

The main event is inside of the SUV, where there's wood decking like you might find on a yacht.

mercedes yacht edition

The interior comes in a dark and a light theme, and both feature an intricate compass design on the headliner.

mercedes yacht edition

Carlex says the SUV was created for "enthusiasts of luxury and marine style."

mercedes yacht edition

The interior has been decked out in leather and Alcantara ...

mercedes yacht edition

... and the steering wheel features leather and wood trim.

mercedes yacht edition

There's even wood paneling on the floors to complete the feeling of being on a boat.

mercedes yacht edition

On the outside, Carlex preserved the overall look and shape of the G-Wagen, but added some yacht-inspired touches — mostly in the form of the word "Yachting" etched into the car.

mercedes yacht edition

The spare-wheel cover has a compass etched into it to match the interior.

mercedes yacht edition

The Yachting-Edition G63 rides on 22-inch wheels ...

mercedes yacht edition

... and is available in polar white ...

mercedes yacht edition

... or brushed silver.

mercedes yacht edition

But Carlex's latest G-Wagen creation isn't its first foray into marine-themed automobiles. The company also sells a similar styling package for the Mercedes X-Class pickup, which was never sold in the US.

mercedes yacht edition

The X-Class Yachting package, as expected, includes teak decking in the bed ...

mercedes yacht edition

... and even on the tailgate.

mercedes yacht edition

There's also wood paneling in the passenger foot wells.

mercedes yacht edition

The interior features plenty of leather and faux-suede covering the seats, gear shifter, center armrest, and door panels.

mercedes yacht edition

And the steering wheel has been reshaped and trimmed in even more wood.

mercedes yacht edition

The package also includes some snazzy exterior upgrades like wheels off a Maybach.

mercedes yacht edition

The X-Class Yachting package will run you roughly $72,000, not including the price of the pickup. There's no word yet on pricing for the G-Yachting Limited Edition, but it likely won't come cheap either.

China’s 2000cc Tourer Has Way More Power Than The Honda Gold Wing

America’s new 4-cylinder motorcycle makes harley-davidsons seem tasteless, this indian motorcycle beat harley-davidson for years, but it’s going away.

The Mercedes-AMG G63 is a popular SUV among enthusiasts and aftermarket companies alike. This time, Carlex Design Europe has laid its hands on the boxy beauty and gave it a special treatment.

Called the Yachting Limited Edition, this design is a “marine version of the iconic Mercedes G63 AMG” as Carlex puts it. The company has made a few tweaks to the exterior, but most of the changes come inside the cabin. With all the light-shade leather and wood trim on the interior, it looks pretty neat, doesn’t it?

What’s Different On The Outside?

The Carlex G63 Yachting Limited Edition is painted in a dual-tone shade. The upper half features a satin black color, whereas the lower can be had in either polar white or brushed silver. Up front, the star logo is swapped with Carlex’s logo on the grille. 'CARLEX' lettering is also present at the tip of the hood. The headlights and bumpers are retained.

The side profile features a black strip running from the fenders to the end of the vehicle. The G63 Yachting Edition rides on 22-inch brushed wheels wrapped in low profile tires. In the rear, things are the same except for a custom wheel cover. The design gives a strong nautical vibe to this marine-themed SUV and it looks pretty good.

The Interior Lives Up To The Nautical Theme

The first one comprises of off-white leather with Alcantara, whereas the second version makes use of cognac leather with light accents .

The seats come with shoulder pads finished in a metallic shade along with heavy bolstering on the sides. There are a lot of wood decor elements around the cabin. They're present on the door panels, steering wheel, grab handles, as well as the floor. The same treatment is given to the cargo area as well.

What Powers The Carlex G63 Yachting Edition?

Carlex has not made any changes to the G63’s drivetrain. In standard form, the Mercedes-AMG G63 comes with a 4.0-liter, biturbo V-8 engine under the hood that churns out 577 horses and 627 pound-feet of torque . The engine is mated a nine-speed AMG Speedshift 9G-Tronic automatic gearbox. Power is sent to all the wheels via a two-speed transfer case.

-* Double-Wishbone Front/Rigid-Axle Rear Suspension

-* Adaptive Damping Suspension

-* AMG high-performance Braking System

-* Trailer hitch that can tow up to 6,500 pounds

Final Thoughts

Carlex Design had released renderings of the Mercedes-AMG G63 Yachting Edition earlier this year, but the actual photos have come out now. These are images of the first finished vehicle designed for the company’s customer in Dubai, United Arab Emirates.

The company hasn’t released the prices of the same, but we are expecting it to cost around $50,000 over the cost of the donor vehicle. The 2020 Mercedes-AMG G63 starts at $156,450 in the States, so the Carlex Yachting Edition should cost you north of $200,000 .

The Polish tuner made the Mercedes-AMG G63 into a rolling tribute to luxury yachts

comments

Earlier this year, Polish tuner Carlex Design dropped CGIs of a spectacular new project based on the Mercedes-AMG G63 , called the Yachting Limited Edition.

Now, the company has released actual photos of the first finished vehicle that has already been shipped to a customer in Dubai, United Arab Emirates. As the name suggests, the G 63 Yachting Limited Edition takes inspiration from luxury yachts and targets “enthusiasts of luxury and marine style”.

Most of the upgrades happen in the cabin, but before we get to them, it’s worth mentioning that the exterior features changes as well.

See Also: Carlex Design’s Mercedes-AMG G63 ‘Steampunk Edition’ Is A Tune Like No Other

mercedes yacht edition

The most obvious is the two-tone livery combining a satin black upper body with a lower body available in polar white or brushed silver. The brushed roof of the vehicle matches the lower half, with other exterior changes including bespoke 22-inch brushed alloys and a custom spare wheel cover.

As with most Carlex creations , the Mercedes-AMG G63 Yachting Limited Edition’s party piece is the interior, available in two handcrafted marine versions. One combines off-white leather with Alcantara, while the other combines cognac leather with light accents. Regardless of the chosen interior configuration, the headliner is decorated with a glossy flower of the winds embroidery, while the floor is completely covered in fine wood. Matching wood trim is also fitted to the steering wheel, dashboard and door panels.

mercedes yacht edition

There are no powertrain modifications, but then again, the Mercedes-AMG G63 hardly needs them. In stock form, the twin-turbo 4.0-liter V8 pumps out 585 PS (577 HP) and 850 Nm (627 lb-ft) of torque. That’s enough to warrant a 0-100 km/h (0-62 mph) time of 4.7 seconds and a top speed of 240 km/h (149 mph) with the optional AMG Driver’s Package.

PASSWORD RESET

Mercedes-benz x-class yachting edition by carlex is a head-turning pick-up.

Carlex has always had a thing for the Mercedes-Benz pick-up truck. And they remake model after model even long after the premium car maker stopped production. This is how the X-Class Yachting Edition showed up.

The Mercedes-Benz X-Class was, at its time, the only German premium pick-up. It raised some eyebrows. But today, after Mercedes stopped building it, Carlex Design keeps giving it chances to shine. The Polish tuning house has just built the Yachting Edition.

The X-Class failed to achieve the recognition Mercedes was dreaming of. But the tuning experts obviously saw something in it. Therefore once again, Carlex works its magic on the model and grants it with the “Yachting” designation. That is because everything about it seems inspired from luxury yachts .

What do you get in the price of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class Yachting Edition by Carlex?

The price for the tweaked variant of the Mercedes-Benz X-Class by Carlex starts at €112,000 (approximately $135,000). Could there be any other pick-up truck that is more expensive?

Carlex equipped the model with a widebody kit. The package includes fend flares and new bumpers with carbon fiber inserts. The wheels draw the attention as they seem identical to those that we get to see on the Maybach variants. The “Yachting” naming shows up on the front doors, on a black band background.

The tuning house fitted further yachting details onboard. There is a floor imitating wood and a black-and-white leather combo covers the seats and the dashboard. The floor resembles the wood used for the deck of yachts. The same pattern appears in the load bed of the X-Class.

There isn’t, of course, the slightest chance the owner of such a luxury pick-up truck would ever take it for a ride along muddy trails for a bit of offroading. Heavy loading also seems out of the question. Driving in style though should be considered.

Mercedes-Benz X-Class Yachting by Carlex Design

From commercial vehicle to a luxurious car with maybach parts: the mercedes x-class yachting, styled by carlex design..

Influences from yachting to cars and influences from cars to yachting – both industries are working on several levels together . Although the X-Class is a Mercedes, it is just commercial car based on the Nissan Navara. The Polish company Carlex Design that creates custom interiors and exterior parts for luxury cars presents the X-Class in a yachting edition.

The car features original wheels from the Maybach S650 Coupé, teak wood and a body kit with a lot of carbon fiber parts. The bicolored body reminds me of a typical yacht color scheme. Although the below part of the car is painted in porcelain, the brown is like a teak deck.

Mercedes X-Class Yachting Carlex Design

The exterior color scheme is also in the interior. Original Maybach Nappa leather in creme and brown with Zebrano wood part parts. Moreover, Recaro Sportster CS seats and a sports steering wheel. Personally, a new gearbox and a bigger screen would be the icing on the cake. Also, a fifth-wheeler version with a boat trailer could be interesting. The price of the car is about 105.000 EUR depending on the chosen base.

Mercedes’ First Yacht Is Finally for Sale

By Ben Keeshin

Posted on Apr 18, 2016 6:35 PM EDT

Despite the joy apparent in  James Corden’s recent Entertainment Weekly cover , an mid-Eighties S-Class isn’t the best Daimler vehicle to take into the water—especially considering that, four years after the concept debuted, Mercedes-Benz is finally sending its Arrow 460 Granturismo Edition 1 out to sea. Mercedes is sending their first boat, a nearly-1000 horsepower pleasure craft, to cruise the coast of the French Riviera. It is, of course, silver, and looks a lot like the brand’s hot-selling AMG GT-S, but unfurled to a luxurious 47-foot length; it has the footprint of a school bus, but the grace of one of the smaller and more nimble whales.

For a price of $1.7 million, Mercedes aficionados and fancy seamen alike can purchase one of the ten boats made by Mercedes-Benz Style, the design sub-brand in charge of the yacht, provided that he is the first person in his country of origin to submit a deposit. The Chairman of the project, Ron Gibbs, has been quoted saying that the one-per-country rule was instated so that “we can guarantee that just one individual in each country will be able to say: ‘I am the first captain of the first Silver Arrow of the seas.'” (To deny anyone such a pleasure should be punishable at the Hague.)

0418160-mercedes-amg-boat-art-1.jpg

Specs-wise, the fancy boat will have twin 480-horsepower diesel engines, a nubuck leather- and eucalyptus wood-trimmed interior, a wine cellar, and photo-sensitive auto-dimming glass stolen from Maybach. Ten passengers fit in the cabin, though all ten belong on the deck.

0418160-mercedes-amg-boat-art-2.jpg

It’s exciting to finally see the boat in the flesh, and yet: How long, really, before all are purchased and secreted away in a boathouse with more square footage than a Westchester ranch house? Get your kicks now, or start working in earnest for an invite aboard.

Mercedes-benz x-class yachting edition by carlex design.

The X-Class was Mercedes’ attempt at building a pickup. According to the manufacturer, it wasn’t a sales success, so they stopped making it in 2020. However, because of a lack of European pickup models and the luxury brand association, the X-Class is often modified by tuners. In partnership with a company called Pickup Design, Carlex has modified not only this but also other popular trucks, including the VW Amarok and the Ford Ranger.

Mercedes-Benz Reveals Design for Its First-Ever Superyacht

There’s arguably nowhere in the world that speaks to luxury and wealth more than the French Riviera. So it was appropriate that on the crystal clear, tranquil waters of the Côte d’Azur, Mercedes-Benz recently announced its entry into the world of superyachts. Like Bugatti and Aston Martin before it, the German car manufacturer is bringing its industry-leading innovations and opulent designs to the seas. The Arrow460-Granturismo, created in partnership with U.K.-based Silver Arrow Marine, borrows heavily from Mercedes-Benz’s long history of ergonomics, attention to detail, and revolutionary designs. “This new motor yacht, with its emotional and high-tech features, embodies our Mercedes-Benz design philosophy of sensual purity and is a perfect expression of modern luxury,” said Gorden Wagener, vice president of design at Daimler AG, the parent company of Mercedes-Benz, in a statement.

A look at the Arrow460-Granturismo from the stern.

At first glance, it’s easy to compare the Arrow460-Granturismo to the company’s flagship S-Class cars. The long foredeck and arched roofline also echo the looks of iconic Benz models such as the 2011 SLS AMG Roadster and 1954 300 SL. But the Granturismo borrows other touches from its asphalt-based cousins, too. Much like the brand’s newer motor vehicles, the superyacht can electronically dim its windows to protect passengers from the sun.

The sleek 46-foot craft, which accommodates ten people, has a massive windscreen that can be raised to create a protective archway, shielding passengers from UV rays while allowing ocean breezes to cool them off. The Arrow460-Granturismo is propelled by a 960-horsepower engine, moving it up to 40 knots (46 m.p.h.), and has a Twin Disc Express Joystick System, providing more hands-on control of the yacht’s movement. Further technical details will be available this month; the Arrow460-Granturismo will go into production later this year.

Four Yacht Victims Likely Died After Depleting Air Pocket In Sunken Italian Ship: Reports

Breaking News Reporter, HuffPost

Four of the seven people killed when a luxury yacht sank off Italy’s coast last month likely died after depleting a pocket of air they had found while trapped inside the submerged ship, according to several reports.

Autopsies found that the victims — Morgan Stanley International chairman Jonathan Bloomer, his wife Judith, lawyer Chris Morvillo and his wife Neda — likely died from suffocation following the Aug. 19 sinking, Reuters reported Thursday citing judicial sources.

None of these four victims, who were found in the same cabin, had water in their lungs, suggesting they didn’t drown, the BBC also reported citing Italian news agency Ansa.

Italian firefighter divers bring ashore the body of one of the victims of a shipwreck in Porticello, Sicily, on Aug. 22.

This type of death was described as “dry drowning,” which is when all of the available oxygen is consumed, leaving only carbon dioxide, CNN similarly reported citing local media.

The autopsies of two of the other victims, British tech star Mike Lynch and his 18-year-old daughter, are expected to take place on Friday. The autopsy of the ship’s onboard chef, Recaldo Thomas, has been delayed pending contact with his family in Antigua, CNN reported.

The 184-foot British-flagged ship was carrying 22 people when it was hit by a violent storm while anchored off the coast of Sicily in the early morning hours, causing it to capsize and sink within minutes, authorities previously said.

Italian Firefighters scuba divers bring ashore in a green bag the body of one of the victims of the sinking on Aug. 21.

Of those on board, 15 were rescued by the Italian Coast Guard. The survivors included Lynch’s wife, Angela Bacares, who Reuters previously reported owns the firm that the yacht is listed under.

The group had been celebrating Lynch’s recent acquittal of fraud and conspiracy charges related to the $11 billion acquisition of his software maker Autonomy to Hewlett Packard in 2011, survivors have said.

An investigation remains underway into the cause of the ship’s sinking, including whether it was caused by human error.
