The Solaris 42 is a 40.55ft fractional sloop designed by Javier Soto Acebal and built in fiberglass by Solaris Yachts (Italy) since 2012.

The Solaris 42 is a light sailboat which is a very high performer. It is reasonably stable / stiff and has a good righting capability if capsized. It is best suited as a fast cruiser. The fuel capacity is average. There is a short water supply range.

Solaris 42 – tested and reviewed

The solaris 42 aims to combine the speed of a ferrari with the reliability of a breitling wristwatch. st put the claims to the test.

I couldn’t fault the quality or the looks of the 42 and she performed impeccably. If you want something that is just a touch classier than your standard production cruiser, here she is. Her open, shallow cockpit and stylish looks are tailored for Med, but she also has a good turn of speed for a spot of racing and also cuts it as a comfortable cruiser.

Argentine-Italian mix

The Solaris 42 is designed by Argentinian naval architect Soto Acebal, who has a decent idea about how to pen a pleasing hull shape – he cut his teeth alongside German Frers, a man who knows more than most about drawing stylish yachts.

Ciao, bella!

There are modest chines running up her quarters and the beam is relatively slight by today’s standards. A first glance brought to mind the modern designs of Judel/Vrolijk’s latest crop of Hanse yachts. But the Solaris has something that sets her apart from the herd, and you know she will turn heads out on the water. She is set up as a cruiser/racer and boasts a powerful rig, modest displacement and a deep lead-bulbed keel.

Racer/cruiser

Because this is a cruiser/racer, the traveller runs across the middle of the cockpit, which detracts slightly from the openness of the space, but is just where you’d want it to be – well within reach of the helmsman.

Med cruising

the 42, along with her sisters, is so perfectly set up for Med cruising and racing. I tested the yacht in Sardinia and had ample time to doze in the sun on the extremely comfortable cockpit benches, which featured a rather nicely-angled backrest and ample storage beneath.

Italian style

The extremely chic interior design managed to be modern and smart but not offensively so and while some might describe the main saloon as ‘sparse’, I think ‘uncluttered’ is a far more suitable term. All in all, the feeling down below was one of refinement and style.

She was built in England by Solaris and is an ocean-going sloop-rigged catamaran. This Solaris is hull #48. The owners purchased this Solaris in 1995 and have owned her for 25 years. The husband loves how well built the Solaris is, how well she sails and that she sails smoothly without leaning.

Rare Find in USA,Pack your Supplies & She's Ready to Go! This 1976 Solaris 42 is a Cruising Catamaran Sailboat. She was built in England by Solaris and is an ocean-going sloop-rigged catamaran. This Solaris is hull #48. The owners purchased this Solaris in 1995 and have owned her for 25 years. The husband loves how well built the Solaris is, how well she sails and that she sails smoothly without leaning. He reports his catamaran has held up in storms and is technically unsinkable. She is a glorious boat to live on. This Solaris is powered by twin 2003 Volvo Penta MD2030 30 HP, 3 cylinder diesel engines when not under sail. There are 1,200 hours on each engine. The 2-75 gallon fuel tanks have a fuel polishing system. Four 55-watt and 30-watt solar panels and a Morningstar controller run the boat indefinitely. When you go below, you're greeted by the warm, rich woodwork throughout the large salon. There are two facing L-shaped settees forming an almost continuous horseshoe-shaped conversation and entertainment area. A fixed dinette table folds out for meals. The owner has made parts to convert the settee into 2 berths for additional sleeping. Surrounding the salon are built-in bookshelves, a glass rack, and sliding bulkhead panels that open the salon to the navigation station port side and galley starboard side. The Solaris has 4 double berth cabins paired with a mirrored vanity and seat each with abundant storage. The port hull has a forward cabin with a navigation station between the cabins. The aft cabin is on the other side of the port head. The starboard hull has a forward cabin on one side of the galley. The aft cabin is on the other side of the starboard head compartment with a bathtub. Precisiontemp on-demand water heater is always ready for a relaxing bath after a full day of sailing. A long galley offers more than adequate counter space for food preparation. A wall of storage cabinets and drawers on the salon side provides plenty of storage. A Force 10 three-burner propane stove with oven, microwave, refrigerator/freezer, and cutting board. There is also a Solaris built-in freezer cabinet 6 cu ft with Waeco 12v freezer. The deck is spacious and relaxing with a large built-in seating big enough to take a nap. A folding cockpit seat opens up the cockpit space. The owner is including with the purchase of the Solaris 3 additional shade awnings, swim ladder, scuba equipment, and many spare tools.
