San Juan Island Yacht Club

The San Juan Island Yacht Club is located on the waterfront in the Port of Friday Harbor with a beautiful view of the marina. It's an easy walk from the ferry and to many boutique hotels. Our facility is available for weddings and receptions, as well as meetings and other events. We can comfortably accommodate up to 150 guests. The clubhouse has a full kitchen, bar area, outside deck and is air conditioned. We also provide plates, silverware, glassware, tables and chairs. Please contact us with any questions. It is the perfect venue for your event! The San Juan Island Yacht Club is organized for the purpose of encouraging and supporting all forms of yachting in the Northwest, to bring Members together to share matters of common interest, and to promote safe and enjoyable boating. SJIYC is a cruising Club with over 300 active boaters. Our members travel as far north as Glacier Bay and south to the Gulf of California. We are actively recruiting new members who share our interests in marine activities.

San Juan Island Yacht Club

Founded in 1964, the San Juan Island Yacht Club's membership has grown to over 300 active boaters. Our clubhouse is located above the Port of Friday Harbor, 273 Front Street, and is a full service facility with large meeting room, bar and kitchen facilities. The San Juan Island Yacht Club is a cruising club. Our members travel as far north as Glacier Bay and south to the Gulf of California. We sponsor 10 to 12 local cruises each year along with major racing events, the Shaw Island Classic among others. Additionally sailors are invited to participate in the One Design series.

Event Rental

Our clubhouse is available for events ranging from small meetings to elaborate receptions. The 3,000-square-foot facility is located on the waterfront at the Port of Friday Harbor. We offer a large main room with a dramatic view of the harbor, Brown Island, and ferry traffic.  Also included is an adjacent bar area fully stocked with glassware and a commercial kitchen for your caterer’s needs.

On to Friday Harbor

Journey from prevost harbor to friday harbor.

After three serene days docked at Prevost Harbor on Stuart Island, we decided it was time to set sail once again. This was the 18th night on this trip, or the 138th night on the boat since purchase. The tranquil beauty of Stuart Island had provided the perfect backdrop for relaxation and reflection. The quiet coves and scenic trails left an indelible mark on our journey, but it was time to move on and reconnect with fellow boaters.

Departure from Stuart Island

We left Stuart Island with fond memories and a sense of rejuvenation. The days spent there had been filled with peaceful walks, scenic views, and the gentle rocking of our boat at the dock. With the promise of new adventures ahead, we set our course for Friday Harbor, a bustling hub in the San Juan Islands .

Arrival at Friday Harbor

Friday Harbor greeted us with its vibrant marina and welcoming atmosphere. The sight of colorful boats and the distant hum of activity signaled the start of a new chapter in our voyage. As we approached the dock, the anticipation of meeting up with the Bellingham Yacht Club added to our excitement.

Refueling at Friday Harbor

Our first task upon docking was to refuel our vessel. We had not fueled up since October when we were last at Friday Habor, our fuel gauge reminded us of the need to top off the tanks. At the fuel dock, we filled up with 260 gallons of diesel, ensuring we were prepared for the adventures that lay ahead.

The Bellingham Yacht Club

Meeting up with the Bellingham Yacht Club was like reuniting with old friends. The club had planned a weekend filled with activities, camaraderie, and shared experiences. We had prime rib and salmon dinner witht he San Juan Yacht Club. The dockside was buzzing with laughter and the clinking of glasses as we exchanged stories of our recent travels.

Seaplane Activity

There is a great deal of seaplane activity at Friday Harbor. If you are out and about in a boat you need to constantly be aware of seaplanes landing or taking off.

Exploring Friday Harbor

Friday Harbor itself offered a delightful mix of attractions. The town’s charm and hospitality made our stay even more enjoyable.

Reflecting on Our Journey

As we settled into the rhythm of Friday Harbor, we reflected on our journey from Stuart Island. The contrast between the peaceful solitude of Prevost Harbor and the lively energy of Friday Harbor highlighted the diverse experiences that make sailing in the San Juan Islands so special.

Our weekend with the Bellingham Yacht Club promised to be a memorable one, filled with new adventures and cherished moments. As the sun set over the marina, casting a golden glow on the water, we felt a deep sense of gratitude for the journey so far and anticipation for the days to come.

Reciprocal Club Information

We welcome members of reciprocal clubs arriving Friday Harbor by any means of transportation.  We are members of both of the following reciprocal associations with over 715 clubs from Hawaii throughout the USA and Caribbean.

Our Club has bar and meal service most Wednesdays and Fridays throughout the year and Saturday bar openings and Sunday brunch some summer weekends - check the calendar on this website for the current schedule.  Visitors are asked to sign in at the bar where reciprocal information is maintained. The San Juan Island Yacht Club offers overnight moorage on a first-come-first-served basis to members of bona fide Reciprocal Clubs.   Our moorage is located on "F" dock, at the outside end-tie, in the Port of Friday Harbor Marina.   View the  Port of Friday Harbor Marina Map here .   The end-tie on "F" dock is 85 lineal feet with two power and water hookups. Upon arrival, check in with the Port of Friday Harbor, presenting your club ID.   The nightly fee for moorage, power and water is $15.     No reservations are accepted. Rafting to a maximum of three vessels deep must be permitted. Fly your burgee. From May 1 to September 30 stays are limited to 48 hours.  Additional nights may be permitted if space is available but will be charged at full port rate.  For moorage-related issues p lease contact the  Port of Friday Harbor  at: 360-378-2688. Dockside help may be available depending on arrival time and availability of port staff. San Juan Island Yacht Club does not monitor Port of Friday Harbor VHF traffic (Channel 66).

If you want to escape to a slower pace, you’ll be enchanted by Friday Harbor —a charming, historic, walkable seaport just steps from the ferry landing, with small, friendly shops and restaurants, and a refreshing absence of fast-food chains.

In this visitor-, family-, and dog-friendly town, you’ll find many of the San Juans’ whale and kayaking tour headquarters, The Whale Museum , the San Juan Islands Museum of Art ,  the San Juan Community Theatre for plays and musical events, the San Juan Historical Museum , and so much more.

There's no need for a car to see Friday Harbor. Everything is within walking distance of the ferry landing, and it is easy to get around , including shuttle buses and a trolley to take you around the island, as well as bike, three-wheeled Scootcoupe, and moped rentals. From Friday Harbor you can also catch an inter-island ferry to Lopez, Orcas, and Shaw Islands. If you do bring your car, use this parking map to find available spaces.
