YOT 36 full tour: Inside a brand new powercat with lots of clever features

Reporting from the 2023 Cannes Yachting Festival, MBY editor Hugo Andreae takes us on a full tour of the YOT 36, which was making its global debut...
The Catana Group is one of the world’s most prolific builders of sailing catamarans but now it has turned its attention to powercats , starting with this YOT 36.
Marketed under the brand name YOT (TOY spelled backwards), it will eventually include inboard- and outboard -powered craft of all different sizes, but first out of the traps is this new 36ft sporting weekender.
The show demonstrator was fitted with a pair of 300hp Verado V8s for an estimated top speed of 35 knots, but it’s the stylish looks, clever packaging and versatile cockpit layout that are likely to impress buyers the most.
At 3.99m wide, it is designed to fit into a standard 4m berth but folding bulwarks expand this to 5.4m at rest.
Two rows of twin bench seats with reversible back rests and fold-flat mechanisms allow them to face both ways or to link up to form sunbeds. Matching wet bars and tables also make this set-up ideal for long lunches afloat.

Four individual helm seats increase passenger capacity to ten, and asymmetric side decks give easy access to the foredeck along the starboard side, while still allowing room in the port hull for a comfortable ensuite owner’s cabin .
The starboard hull only has space for a single cabin but a second heads for day guests is a welcome bonus.

YOT, a new home for motor catamarans
Catana expands and acquires space in Aveiro, Portugal, to build multihulls under the new YOT brand. The shipyard will be operational in the spring
by Niccolò Volpati
It is a trend and it is also logical that it should be so. Multihulls are increasingly present in the world of motor yachts of all sizes. And many yards are now making them or, at least, thinking about them. One who has been thinking about it for some time now, and has moved from theory to practice, is Catana, the historic French shipyard that has been making sailing catamarans for many, many years. Catana believes in it and has invested: 40 million euros, a new brand, YOT precisely, dedicated management, and a dealer network distinct from sailing multihulls. Added to all this is a new production facility.
The historic shipyard in Canet-en-Roussillou, France, does not have enough space, partly because production of sailing catamarans is not slowing down. A new location was needed, and Catana has located it in Portugal. The new shipyard will be operational in the coming months, in the spring. It is located in Aveiro, between Porto and Nazaré, with direct access to the water. At this location Catana has decided that only motor catamarans of the new YOT brand will be built.
The 36 is already a reality, it was also seen on display at the Düsseldorf boat show, and in the spring, in addition to the new shipyard, YOT 41 will also be presented, and later this year it will be the turn of YOT 46 . These first three models will all be powered by outboards, but from 2025 it will be the turn of larger powered catamarans with azimuth feet or stern feet. The advantages of a motor catamaran are obvious, and the market is registering this interest. More space on board, above and below deck, less water resistance and therefore better performance with less powerful engines. YOT 36, for example is powered by two 300-hp Mercurys and, having had the opportunity to test it at sea, I can testify that it has exceeded 30 knots. But most significantly, a multihull holds a glide even with very little thrust. Taking off the throttle, the boat almost never “sits”. The range of cruising gaits is therefore very wide, and fuel consumption can be really low. And then, as you can easily imagine, a catamaran offers a lot of stability, both when sailing and when moored in the roadstead. One can therefore do without stabilizers while saving space, weight and electricity
YOT’s models were designed by J&J, which for the 36 even included fold-down sides. Just imagine the size of the cockpit. Not only is it spread over four meters of beam, but to this is added the folding sides. All these features and the feedback the first model is getting make it clear that those at YOT are right to believe.

YOT Power Catamarans
The new generation of motor catamarans is here, elegance and comfort on board. here are the motor multihulls according to the catana group.
After winning the hearts of cruising catamaran enthusiasts with more than 40 years of experience through two sailing-focused brands, Catana and Bali, the French Catana Group, based in Canet en Roussillon in southern France, unveiled a new brand entirely dedicated to motoring in 2023: YOT Power Catamarans. With a totally rethought approach focused on the uses and trends of motor boating, YOT’s ambition is to produce a range of high-end motor catamarans with unmatched design and comfort, good range, reasonable fuel consumption, excellent seaworthiness and high performance. The right compromise between these paradoxically opposite goals gave birth to the first model of this new range: the YOT 36. YOT 36 is the first, and smallest, example of the new YOT Power Catamarans shipyard and will be part of a 36- to 50-foot outboard range to be launched over the next few years, after which the shipyard will focus on a range of inboard-powered catamarans. YOT 36 is an 11-meter walkaround catamaran with an open deck aft, sundeck area, salon and galley, while below deck we find two cabins. Propulsion is provided by two outboards of 300 horsepower each. The concept and design of the YOT 36 was entrusted to the J&J Design studio, which worked to create a boat that is easy to maneuver even for beginners, but can satisfy and entertain even the most experienced owners. It lends itself excellently both to use as a daycruiser and to outings and cruises for a few days with family or friends. The shipyard’s style aims to focus on modern design, generous and functional spaces, and powerful yet stable and safe catamarans.

Catana Group unveils YOT, a brand 100% dedicated to power catamarans
At a time when the powerboat market is driving production, and the powercat is continuing to develop, Catana Group is taking the next step. In addition to its two brands, Catana and Bali, which focus on the sailing catamaran sector, YOT will be offering a powercat range, starting with the outboard YOT 36 in September 2023, as Boris Compagnon explains.
Adapting know-how to power catamarans
Catana Group launches a new powercat brand, YOT. With two brands focused on sailing catamarans, Catana and Bali, this new range complements the existing one, concentrating solely on power. Boris Compagnon, Catana Group Marketing & Sales Director, explains this choice: "We're catamaran manufacturers, so it made sense to launch a power catamaran brand. In terms of equivalent length and power, they consume less than a monohull, offer greater autonomy and a wider living platform. It's a continuation of our know-how. Knowing that 8 out of 10 boats in the world today are motorboats, why not attack this market?"
A range of outboard and inboard catamarans
Starting in 2020, this project will see the launch of the first 36-foot model, the YOT 36. This 11 m catamaran with walk-around layout features a bowrider forward and a classic open deck configuration: sunbathing area, saloon and galley. Two cabins will be located on the lower deck. This first model will be equipped with two 300 hp outboard motors. However, the brand will not be concentrating solely on this segment, as Boris Compagnon explains: "Initially, we're launching an outboard range with boats from 36 feet to under 50 feet. In a second phase, we'll launch an inboard range, with larger boats, and a less open superstructure. The specifications will be totally different."
A hub specifically dedicated to motorboats
The approach has been totally rethought, with features specific to motorboats. A dedicated department was created within the group, from design and engineering through production to sales, marketing and branding. J&J Design was chosen to conceive and design the boat. The Slovenian agency is renowned in the industry for its numerous award-winning productions, including the XO DFNDR 9, the Aquila range, and several models from Fjord, Saxdor , Greenline and Targa.
The YOT 36, which will be previewed at the Cannes boat show, is designed for a wide range of programs, from day cruising to weekend getaways for couples or families.
YOT 36 - we tell you more about Catana Group's first outboard powercat
July 13 2023
Written by Yachting Art English Edition
ActuNautique Yachting Art is already able to reveal new information on the YOT36, the very first powercat outboard of the Yot Power catamarans brand from the Catana Group shipyard.
With the YOT 36, the world number two in the leisure catamaran market is aiming for nothing less than to repeat the success of its Bali range in sailing, but this time on the powercat market. The credo of the YOT Power Catamarans range could not be clearer: to offer pleasure on board, a new state of mind on the yacht market, combining design, trend, space and comfort.
Certainly, the YOT 36 will be recognizable among a thousand on a body of water. On the design side, the taut and modern lines, very personal, should give the YOT 36 a real personality.
It must be said that the YOT 36 is signed by the firm J&J Design, a reference in the field of yachting!
The Hard-Top of the YOT 36, well integrated, will undoubtedly offer good protection against the bites of the sun, as well as against spray and rain. By using flexible canvas, the YOT 36 should be an all-weather powercat.
Important detail: the volume of the hulls should bode well for good interior accessibility, even if the yard has not yet revealed anything about the layout plan for this powercat.
Performance, economy and... stability!
The cockpit of the YOT 36 is distinguished with four seats protected by front and side windshields. Enough to enjoy speed in the greatest comfort. At the helm, the pilot should have fun, the YOT 36 being powered by two Mercury Verado V8 300hp outboard engines, renowned for their performance, silence and efficiency in terms of consumption. On the comfort side, the joystick should facilitate port maneuvers to the extreme, helped in this by electric steering and the multifunction electronic navigation system.
A typical central console deck plan
The deck plan of the YOT 36 is of the central console type, with two beautiful side walkways framing the steering console. This plan is quite classic, which clearly optimizes the useful volume of the deck, and the ease of movement on board. It is particularly practical in port, especially for the installation of fenders.
The deck area of the YOT 36 is nearly 38m2, i.e. a rather exceptional space used, the key word of which would be modularity in order to adapt to each type of use.
With its 3.99m beam and its 2 two aft bulwarks lowering to have a real beach club, the YOT 36 should be popular at anchor! As such, its central wet bar, outdoor fridge and cooking areas should make the YOT 36 a must have for family and friends!
This aft cockpit is completed by a foredeck which for its part accommodates a vast sundeck, a real bed on the sea, as well as a large bench seat positioned at bow level, allowing you to feel the speed while sailing, in complete safety. security !
2 comfortable cabins, in complete privacy
The interior of the YOT 36 - not yet unveiled by the shipyard - is organized around 2 cabins, positioned in each of the hulls, each cabin being equipped with its own bathroom and toilet, for overnight stays in complete privacy.
YOT 36 - a dedicated factory, in Portugal
The production of the YOT 36 will be carried out in Europe, and more precisely in Portugal, at Composite Solution, a renowned company, bought for this purpose by Catana Group a few months ago, and which is now specialized in the production of motor catamarans. of the group.

Catana Group launches YOT, the new power catamaran brand
- yacht design
- Yacht industry
As a pure-player in the catamaran market, Catana Group has won the hearts of yachtsmen with the Catana brand, recognised as setting the standards for cruising catamarans, as well as with Bali, the concept that revolutionised cruising catamarans.
With an offer essentially based on sailing, the Group needed to offer powerboats featuring the same high standards as those that have made Bali and Catana so successful.
Today, Catana Group is proud to announce the launch of the YOT brand. A new brand of power catamarans that brings a breath of fresh air to the yachting sector.
YOT – An innovative concept forms the genesis of the project
The project began in 2020 with one simple idea: to design and offer innovative power catamarans that effectively meet expectations.
The powerboats in the Bali range are still inspired by the sailing range and retain traces of a sailboat design. The approach to powerboats has therefore been totally rethought, refocused on the uses and trends in powerboating, a sector which has very specific characteristics in terms of navigation, uses, design and codes.
The concept also centred on the desire to offer something different, based on the Group's presence and expertise as a pure-player in the catamaran market.
Right from the very beginnings of the project, the ambition was clear: to produce a range of high-end power catamarans, with well-thought-out design and comfort, agile and high-performance seakeeping, good range, reasonable fuel consumption and the ability to appeal to as wide an audience as possible.
Olivier Poncin, his partners and his teams worked towards one single objective: to enjoy being aboard.
YOT - A dedicated brand and division
For this new segment, Catana Group has combined its know-how and over 40 years' experience in catamaran design and innovation with a team and service providers specialising in motorboating. A dedicated department has been created within the group, from design and studies, through production, to sales, marketing and branding.
Boris Compagnon, Sales and Marketing Director of Catana Group, explains:
« For us, YOT is both a leap into a world where we're going to have to make our mark, because the offer will be solid and tempting, but also onto a playing field in which we already have full legitimacy with our industrial know-how in terms of catamarans. Catana Group’s DNA brings the ability to have an in-depth and visionary understanding of the market, and it's through this prism that we have conceived YOT. »
The conception and design have been entrusted to JnJ Design. With almost 40 years' experience and a passion for boating, the naval architects have an impressive track record and a clear ambition to improve the user experience.
The group's expertise and capacity for innovation are supported by a new in-house design team with experience in the motorboat industry.
Marketing is also specialised, with a dedicated distribution network, a brand developed with the Mazarine group and its communication tools.
YOT – Experience the power of fun
The YOT brand is aimed at anyone seeking fun at sea aboard a boat.
It meets the needs of both beginners and experienced enthusiasts.
It is designed to meet every need, from day trips to cruising, for couples, sporty trips, parties, gathering with friends, and also romantic weekends.
YOT has a style, a modern and trendy design in step with the new expectations of our times, imagined for living intensely.
YOT offers boats that are comfortable, stable and safe. Seaworthy, agile and powerful, their twin-hull design ensures excellent performance and a smooth passage through the sea. Lively and fun, they combine power with reasonable fuel consumption.
YOT is about having more room on board, more living space giving maximum on-board self-sufficiency. Every square centimetre has been optimised, thought through, and rethought to create generous, functional spaces that are a pleasure to live in.
Boris Compagnon announces a preview of the very first model at the 2023 Cannes Yachting Festival. « The first YOT 36 unit will be presented in September 2023 at this year’s Cannes Yachting Festival, and we will be in a position where we can respond to the first owners at the very beginning of 2024. »
