NOT FOR CHARTER

Motor Yacht O represents the first hull of the SD112 navetta-style series constructed by the Italian shipyard Sanlorenzo. Superyacht O is a 33,6-metre semi-displacement yacht launched in 2014.

Sanlorenzo’s O yacht was built made-to-measure according to the Owner’s style and taste and provides an exceptional combination of design, volume as well as performance. Her curved doors on the sides as well as lateral window shapes are typical of the popular Sanlorenzo SD range, however she has been enhanced with many additional innovative solutions such as the foldable terraces in the saloon. These open out seawards and offer fantastic flow between the interior and yachts surrounding. Another great feature is the door connecting the massive cockpit to the main saloon, which, once completely opened, creates a large living area between the indoors and outdoors.

Luxury yacht O has a three-deck superstructure, yet, thanks to her beautiful lines and great design, appears to a be two-deck vessel. Her sun-deck is very spacious, boasting a large spa pool tub, surrounded by numerous sun-beds.

The modern interior was completely selected by superyacht O’s owner, bringing together many prestigious Made in Italy brands, such as Edra, Minotti and Paola Lenti sofas, Enzo degli Angiuoni fabrics and Penelope Oggi leathers. The Tanganyika walnut teak placed on the cockpit ceiling is original and unique, as is the artistic covering in resin and metal used on the shutters of the large salon wardrobe: an authentic piece of art by Italian studio ORK.

Golden Yachts O'Pari exterior

O'Pari: Inside Golden Yachts' 95m flagship crafted for charter

The 95 metre flagship of Golden Yachts is designed to offer the ultimate charter experience, discovers Sam Fortescue

It may feel trite, but one of the first things I wanted to know about the brand-new 95-metre yacht O’Pari from Greece’s Golden Yachts is how she got her name. She is the eleventh in the O’ franchise and the largest to date, but what does the “O” mean to the Dragnis dynasty whose sprawling business empire built, owns and charters her?

“It heralds back to Ancient Greece,” explains patriarch Paris Dragnis, “where people often greeted each other formally with an “Ω” exclamation (the equivalent of the Roman “Ave”, meaning “hail”). And in truth, our clients love it: it’s a way to make our yachts really stand out. It’s been our trademark since the first O’Pari was built in 1996.”

There is an unusual business model behind the rapid rise of the Greek shipbuilder. The yachts in its O’ range are managed by Atalanta Golden Yachts , and sometimes used in a personal capacity by Dragnis before they are sold, generating income and useful feedback from clients. After the award-winning 39.5-metre O’Pati in 2011 there came 72-metre O’Pari in 2015, 56-metre O’Mathilde and 85-metre O’Ptasia in 2018 and, most recently, O’Pari . “One day we’ll be able to construct 125-metre yachts!” exclaims Dragnis. “But let’s be clear about something: Golden Yachts vessels are not all about size; they are about all-round excellence.”

The building of O’Pari certainly required all-round investment to expand capacity at Golden Yachts’ Halkitis shipyard, near Piraeus. “It was a demanding project,” admits Dragnis. And the business is in the process of equipping a second yard nearby, “so we can better segregate, organise and execute the different stages of construction,” he adds.

For all the challenges posed by growth, there is one element of O’Pari’s build that was relatively plain sailing. As with all Dragnis’s boats, the design work was done by his close friend Giorgio Vafiadis in a collaboration whose simplicity might be the envy of designers everywhere. “First of all, we’re friends,” the Rome-based naval architect tells me in lilting English. “Usually with Dragnis I know what he wants, and he knows what he can expect from me. Our brief is very, very short: such-and-such a boat of such-and-such a length; good for charter but also for private use; capable of this kind of speed – general requirements.

“Then we do a design or two. Usually they like what we present – we never have to present it twice. Dragnis is very quick – two minutes to decide and once he makes a decision, he makes it very easy. There’s no back and forth like other people do. The fact we’ve done lots of boats for the family means we know what they want.”

Dragnis says he likes to imagine how people will use the boats, scouring trade shows around the world for new equipment and design ideas. “It is never easy to please different personalities from different backgrounds. During the first design phase, we were aiming for a contemporary aesthetic all over the yacht, married with diverse details, finishes and amenities in each area so as to satisfy even the most demanding client,” he says of O’Pari . “So far, we’ve been blessed with great clients: the global business and political elite, royalty, you name it. I have no doubt they’ve enjoyed sailing in our yachts immensely.”

As well as a multiplicity of little corners inside and out where guests can relax undisturbed, charter has left its mark on the boat in other ways. There is a cavernous and well-stocked garage for tenders and toys (more on that below) and a surprising 14 cabins in various formats to accommodate the maximum of 12 guests. There are even two master cabins: a full-beam suite with an onyx bath on the main deck, and another with 180-degree views occupying the front of the upper deck. “I could not decide which is the master-master,” says Vafiadis with a smile.

Each cabin has its own range of rare or precious woods and fabrics. In a mostly darker, slightly masculine palette, they include beautifully grained wooden panelling in ebony, ash, lime and walnut burr combined with metallic detailing to beds and night-stands. Every carpet is different but, being neutral, contrast with patterned wood, wallpaper and fabrics, while en suite bathrooms showcase contrasting Greek marbles and mosaics.

“Having many colours or many woods, it takes more time,” says Vafiadis. “Instead of making the selection once, you have to do it five or six times; then match the marbles with five or six different types of wood. The balance of the interior is in the detailing: many different woods with different patterns. They are nice because many of these woods have three-dimensional textures – not just a matter of colours or looks; you can feel the materials if you touch a bulkhead or a drawer. You can feel them with all the five senses.”

The finish is flawless, with carefully designed indirect lighting drawing the eye here, or highlighting a feature there. But Vafiadis has clearly eschewed the temptation to include excessive elaborate flourishes. There is an almost northern European purity to some of the design, but the term “minimalism” seems inadequate for such a complex toy. “It is a modern interior but not the kind that is too temporary,” explains Vafiadis. “Where you invest a lot of money, you don’t want things to last for just three or four years. Many types of people can like the boat.”

The large, unfussy windows are more architectural than marine. Providing views of the anchorage from every bed, they give the sense that you are staying in a luxurious hotel by the water, rather than in a boat on the water. This bright, natural lighting effect was a key part of Dragnis’s brief, and is at its most powerful in the communal living areas of O’Pari . In fact, he describes it now as his favourite feature of the boat. “It is unmediated contact with the light and the water. When you sit in O’Pari’s upper saloon, you can see the water; you really feel you’re travelling on the high seas. I like trying to imagine what the people who will be enjoying our yachts might feel and experience on board: what would fascinate them the most?”

Vafiadis’s son and design partner Stefano took the lead on the exterior styling of the yacht. “She has strong and masculine curves but she’s elegant and timeless at the same time,” he says. “Generally, our style is cultural, so instead of making flat shapes, volumes, we try to make something that raises many emotions in the viewer, while respecting function. Balance is our secret.”

Just as the boat’s interior provides different spaces for different people and different moods, so the exterior ecosystem is broken down into lots of smaller habitats. There’s epic dining aft on the upper deck or something more intimate around a smaller, round table on the sundeck; sofas in a U-formation on the main deck, in a D-shape around a sunken firepit above that, or lounging on a large slew of sunpads around the pool on the bridge deck. Or head up another flight of stairs to the open-topped sundeck and percolate in the spa pool; perhaps watch a movie there under the stars. And we haven’t even set foot in the huge beach club with its massage room, dry Finnish sauna and Turkish hammam.

For the more active-inclined guest, there is the whole gamut of on-water entertainment. The four tenders include a 9.75-metre Onda limousine (with its own garage), a 4.4-metre Avon with a 60 horsepower outboard, a 6.2-metre Cobra Patronus and a Chris-Craft Launch 27 for watersports and a beach lander. A never-ending list of toys includes three Sea-Doos, four Seabobs, two Fliteboards, kayaks, tubes, slides, skis and boards and even a brace of four-metre Hobie stand-up pedalboards (yes, apparently that is a thing).

“Whether guests want to explore local bays, enjoy a beach barbecue or perhaps try out some watersports, O’Pari offers some of the best facilities of any charter yacht,” says captain Diamantis Papageorgiou proudly. “The guests have the ability to try something new every day.”

Papageorgiou says the new boat is more agile thanks to better handling characteristics, a turn of speed and seamless mooring operations. “It urges me to approach even the most inaccessible places – I know that, despite her length and overall size, she can follow my commands!” His enthusiasm for the yacht is clear as he describes her “grand presence”. Like the Ancient Greek empire she harks back to, she has been making waves as far east as the Red Sea. “Wherever she was spotted, she stole the show and became the Instagram star!”

11 Fun Things to Do in Yachats, Oregon

Home » Blog » U.S.A. » 11 Fun Things to Do in Yachats, Oregon

The sleepy town of Yachats, Oregon is home to fewer than 700 people. But what it lacks in size, it makes up for in charm. We’ve rounded up some of the best things to do in Yachats – from outdoor adventures surrounded by nature to quirky things to do in town. Plus, we’ve included some insider tips from our personal experience.

Yachats Oregon Coast

At a glance, Yachats, Oregon is a sleepy town on the Central Oregon coast set on a stretch of beautifully rugged coastline and surrounded by the Siuslaw National Forest. You won’t find sandy beaches here like some of the more northern coastal towns .

Instead you’ll see waves crashing against rugged black basalt rock. In fact, the name Yachats (pronounced “ya-hots”… yep, I was saying it wrong too!) comes from the Siletz language meaning “dark water at the foot of the mountain.”

Yachats is home to fewer than 700 people and the town center is just a few blocks wide. But what it lacks in size, it makes up for in charm.

And we’re not the only ones who think so… Budget Travel magazine once named Yachats one of the “Ten Coolest Small Towns of the U.S.A.”, and Arthur Frommer (yes  that  guy, of Frommer’s Travel Guides), once  listed Yachats Oregon  as one of his top 10 destinations in the world.

Go ahead and grab your copy now.  It’s free , so what do you have to lose?!

Things to Do in Yachats

We’ve rounded up some of the best things to do in Yachats – from outdoor adventures surrounded by nature to quirky things to do in town. Plus, we’ve included some insider tips from our personal experience.

1. Stroll by the ocean and take in the scenery

Yachats Oregon Coast Road Trip

The dramatic shoreline aesthetic is what draws most people to visit Yachats. Enjoy a leisurely walk on the 804 Trail, which traces the coastline through town providing public access and viewpoints of the turbulent coastal waters.

Stop along the way and take in the scenery or photograph the sunset. The trail continues as the Oregon Coast Trail to the north past 7 miles of sandy beach, and to the south it connects to Amanda’s Trail which leads to Cape Perpetua (more on that below).

Bonus:  Grab a coffee to enjoy on your walk from Green Salmon Coffee Company, an eco-friendly coffeehouse that serves up fair trade brews. Double bonus!

2. Tidepooling at Smelt & Sands State Park

Oregon+Coast+Road+Trip+_+Tide+Pool

Approximately halfway along the 804 Trail is the Smelt & Sands State Recreation Site which is a small but stunning state park. Despite its name, there is a distinct lack of sand at this park.

In fact, the main attractions here are the tidepools that are teeming with sea life and the seabirds hovering over the driftwood strew shoreline. This is a great place for exploring the tide pools, searching for agates, and photographing the sunset.

Tip: Keep an eye out for grey whales between June and November!

3. Wander downtown and peruse the shops

Oregon+Coast+Road+Trip+_+Oregon+is+Magic+Mural

The small downtown area of Yachats has lots of areas for exploration.

Browse among handmade gifts, art and outdoor gear in the shops and galleries. Don’t miss my personal favorite, Planet Yachats, the rock shop! This cute little store selling rocks, fossils and gems has good prices, and if you’re a rock nerd (like me!), you’ll probably find a few souvenirs. (Note this shop is only open Friday – Monday.)

If the weather is in your favor, wander the Yachats Commons Park (maybe even pack a picnic) and Gerdemann Botanic Preserve, a 3.5-acre collection of exotic shrubs and trees used for research. Just be sure to make an appointment before your visit!

If you’re feeling drawn to indoor activities, pass through the historic Little Log Church Museum and check out the Greenhouse Marketplace, a collection of art galleries in a business park on the 101.

The most notable are Earthworks Gallery whose reputation precedes them as one of the premier exhibit spaces on the coast, Touchstone Gallery, for Oregon artworks, and Wave Gallery for exclusive photography displays.

Psst!  The Oregon Coast is full of adventures to be had and cute small towns to explore. Don’t miss this list of  exciting things to do in Cannon Beach, Oregon .

4. Satisfy your sweet tooth at Bread & Roses

Celestial-Snail-Bread-Roses

A local favorite and not-so-secret hotspot is Bread & Roses bakery. They are only open on weekends, Friday – Sunday, and you’ll want to get there early to avoid the lines that eventually form out the door.

Make sure to secure one of their famous “celestial snail” tarts–a flaky pastry topped with fresh fruit and lemon curd–or “hippie bread” loaves before they sell out.

5. Enjoy live music and seafood at Luna Sea Fish House

Luna-Sea-Fish-House Yachats Oregon

This casual town staple is known for their scratch-made menu featuring only the freshest seafood. Sit down in the 18-seater cafe for a basket of fish and chips and catch some live music, or pick up a few pounds of fresh fish to-go at the market. Check the whiteboard to see which fish are caught locally by fisherman owner Robert Anthony.

6. Cheers with a local craft brew at Yachats Brewing + Farm Store

yachts o

On a coast full of craft beers, Yachats Brewing and Farmhouse flies under the radar as an underrated gem. What started as a small operation has blossomed into a town staple.

The taproom features 30 taps with their award-winning beers and house-made probiotic beverages (Kombucha, Jun, and Kefir soda). With a menu focused on farm-to-table fare and an inviting atmosphere (reclaimed furniture pieces and tons of plants!), this is a great stop for both beer and food.

7. Trek through the forest on the new Ya’Xaik Trail

Yachats Oregon Hike

  • Distance:  1.5-mile  loop trail
  • Elevation:  190 ft
  • Difficulty:  Easy
  • View trail notes

Surrounded by the thick pines of the Siuslaw National Forest, the Ya’Xaik (pronounced Yah-Hike in the native Alseas’ language) is a new trail in Yachats off the side of Hwy 101. Begin at the trailhead behind the Fisterra Gardens apartment complex near the Gerdemann Botanic Preserve.

Alternatively, you can begin at the Smelt Sands Trailhard and walk part of the 804 Trail on the coast before veering off onto the Ya’Xaik.

8. Hike Amanda’s Trail

Amanda's Trail Yachats Oregon Hike

  • Distance: 3.7 miles point-to-point
  • Elevation:  1450 ft
  • Difficulty:  Moderate

Tracing the coastline from southern Yachats to Cape Perpetua (and back if you choose) is a 3.7 mile stretch of the Oregon Coast Trail known as Amanda’s Trail. It’s also one of the best Oregon Coast hikes ! Picking up where the 804 Trail leaves off, this moderately difficult hike features beautiful wildflowers and views of the coast.

The trail’s mysterious namesake is explained about 1.5 miles into the hike upon reaching the iconic Amanda Statue. Both the statue and trail pay tribute to the forced relocation of Native Americans, a dark history for Oregonians. The statue of Amanda De Cuys has signage that can tell you the rest of her story.

9. Explore the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area

Cape Perpetua Scenic Area Oregon Coast

Just under 10 minutes south of Yachats on Hwy 101 is the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area. Whether you choose to hike there from Yachats on the Amanda trail or you simply take the 101 to drive, Cape Perpetua is not to be missed.

The scenic area encompasses 26 miles of trails along the dramatic coastline, so there is plenty to explore. The Cape Perpetua Visitors Center, open 7 days a week with a $5 parking fee, offers interpretive displays about the natural and cultural history of the area. From here you can pick up resources to plan your day of exploring.

The best place to start is hitting the 1.5-mile hiking trail (with about 700 ft elevation gain) which leads from the visitor center to the Cape Perpetua Lookout, the highest viewpoint atop the headlands. The Lookout can also be accessed via the dirt Cape Perpetua Lookout Road for those who prefer it.

10. Marvel at Thor’s Well

Thors Well Oregon Coast

Located just 3 miles south of Yachats in the Cape Perpetua Scenic Area, a short walk toward the sea will bring you to what has been nicknamed the “drainpipe of the Pacific” and even the “gate to hell”.  Yikes!

If you’re wondering what on earth we’re talking about, Thor’s Well is a naturally formed rock hole where the ocean creates the illusion of draining into a bottomless pit at high tide.

A gaping hole in the volcanic rock that makes up the shoreline fills with water each time a wave comes in. Just as quickly as it fills, it drains away, appearing to be sucked down into the center of the earth (hence those intense nicknames!).

Check out this guide to visiting Thor’s Well for all the info you need about getting there and what to expect.

Note: High tide and low tide look different at Thor’s Well, so if you have time, try to see both. But overall, high tide is more impressive, so plan your visit accordingly if possible.

Thor’s Well is the most famous attraction on Cape Perpetua, but there are natural wonders on the coast where you can see more activity. Devil’s Churn and Spouting Horn are two that you’ll find nearby.

11. Visit Heceta Head Lighthouse

Heceta Head Lighthouse Oregon Coast

This postcard-worthy lighthouse is located just 15 minutes driving past Cape Perpetua on the Oregon coast (about 20 minutes from Yachats). The lighthouse — still in working order, casting it’s beam some 21 miles out to sea — is said to be the most photographed lighthouse in the US.

The state park offers tours of the lighthouse and property between the hours of 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. (summer) and 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. (winter).

From the parking lot ($5 day use fee or state park pass required), you’ll follow a forested trail for a half-mile, passing the lighthouse keeper’s residence just before you reach the lighthouse. We recommend taking the path to the right of the trail just before you reach the lighthouse.

It’s a short hike up, but you’ll get views from the top overlooking the lighthouse with the ocean in the background. You can turn around and head back down the way you came, or you can continue on the trail which leads to Hobbit Beach.

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

yachts o

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

yachts o

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

yachts o

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

yachts o

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

yachts o

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

yachts o

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

yachts o

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.

In the Central Coast Region

Gem of the Oregon Coast

Yachats means “dark water at the foot of the mountain.” Hazy Cascade Mountain horizons, surging ocean waters, and tide pools sunk in black basalt on the shoreline make the name altogether appropriate.

Located in a very unique spot, Yachats (pronounced YAH-hots) is widely regarded as a gem on the Oregon Coast. Instead of sandy beaches, much of the coastline near Yachats is composed of rugged black basalt that produces surging sea landmarks like Devil’s Churn, Spouting Horn, and Thor’s Well. Phenomenal views can be seen from the romantically-named Cape Perpetua, one of the best viewpoints on the Oregon Coast located a few miles south of town. In Yachats itself are top-notch galleries, restaurants, shops, breweries, a botanical preserve, and a city park built in restored marshland.

Submersible superyachts for billionaires: This Austrian company wants to build them

E ditor’s Note: Sign up for  Unlocking the World , CNN Travel’s weekly newsletter. Get the latest news in aviation, food and drink, where to stay and other travel developments.

There’s been a trend in recent years for billionaire basements – subterranean extensions to the homes of the rich and famous, where they can bunker down and live large.

Now an Austrian company wants to extend this opportunity for deep-dive delights to the world of superyachts, by building customized private submersibles that can descend 250 meters (820 feet) beneath the ocean surface and remain submerged for up to four weeks.

Migaloo has revealed its ambitious plans for what it claims will be the “world’s one and only private submersible superyacht,” offering “a not-yet-existing alternative to large privately owned surface vessels.”

Billionaires’ playground

This submarine, named M5, would measure 165.8 meters in length and 23 meters across at its widest point, with a range of around 15,000 kilometers and a speed of up to 20 knots when surfaced (or 12 knots when underwater). However, says Migaloo, “The wished dimensions of the submarine-yacht hybrid, the exterior styling and the interior design are up to the owners’ preferences.”

So, like any billionaires’ superyacht worth its salt, the default design includes a helipad, a swimming pool and spa, a gym, art gallery cinema, party area with DJ booth, along with plenty of spaces to lounge or dine. Optional extras include a hot air balloon and underwater shark-feeding station.

There are also sub-tenders that can be specified, so up to 12 guests can set out on smaller submarines for more water-based antics.

‘Private submersible fortress’

“Owners are looking for privacy, security and protection for themselves, their guests and their valuables,” says CEO Christian Gumpold on Migaloo’s website. Customized security systems will be provided by US partner SAFE, promising “beyond military grade protection” for what it’s calling a “private submersible fortress.”

What’s the price tag on this private water wonderland? Well, there is no specific project price tag, due to all those juicy customization options, but the widely reported estimate for the Migaloo M5 is about $2 billion for starters (and that’s before you consider maintenance).

Submarine dreams

The M5 uses proven technologies borrowed from existing motor yachts and submersibles, such as double-hull construction and multiple pressure hulls, which helps on the safety and feasibility fronts. Although the question still remains as to who is deep-pocketed enough to buy this submersible Bond villain lair.

It’s not the first attempt to create a luxury submarine. Aston Martin revealed plans for a $4 million concept vessel in 2017. And it’s not the first time Migaloo has hit headlines for floating its extraordinary visions. At the Monaco Yacht Show in 2015, it showcased plans for Kokomo Ailand , its 80-meter-tall private floating island (with waterfall) that you can sail.

So will the Migaloo M5 concept vessel sail happily into reality or sink without a trace? It’s hard to say, but there’s probably some time to start saving your pennies.

The vessel could remain submerged for up to four weeks at a time. - Migaloo
