American Star Review

Review of american star.

The 2007-built MS American Star cruise ship is one of the oldest ACL-American Cruise Lines ships - together with American Glory (2002-2019/scuttled), American Spirit (2004) and American Independence (2010). The riverboat was last refurbished in 2017. Being of the same class, American Glory (2001) was scuttled in 2019.

History - construction and ownership

The shipowner American Cruise Lines (ACL) is the USA's largest river cruise company (headquarters in Guilford Connecticut) operational since 1991. The company specializes in cruise shipping on the USA's largest navigable inland waterways (rivers and lakes) as well as in cruises along the USA East Coast, USA West Coast and Florida. All ACL vessels feature some of the industry's largest passenger cabins with private balconies, spacious lounges and outdoor deck spaces, gourmet cuisine, top-quality enrichment program with many complimentary land tours and excursions, and highly-personalized service by all-American staff and crew.

All ACL cruise ships are US-flagged and built by the company-owned Chesapeake Shipbuilding Yard in Salisbury (Maryland USA).

American Star cruise ship (ACL)

American Star small cruise ship entered service in June 2007. She is similar to ACL American Spirit and offers the same unique cruising style, hallmark of the company of American Cruise Lines. No matter where she goes to – charming small towns or gracious southern ports, American Star brings guests to spots of magnificent beauty and historic interest. Each passenger is able to unwind on board in the friendly atmosphere created by the American staff.

Decks and Cabins

ACL's American Star ship has 4 passenger decks (3 with cabins) and accommodates 100 guests in a total of 47 staterooms (1 Suite, 25 Balcony, 21 Oceanview, no Inside) in 6 cabin grades. The boat has 2 single cabins. All staterooms have large picture windows, interior entrances and en suite baths. Other amenities include smart HDTV (with DVD), individual climate control, desk, stationary, closet, 4-drawer dresser.

Cabin sizes range from 250 ft2 (23 m2) to 350 ft2 (33 m2).

Shipboard facilities and amenities

MS American Star has one Grand Dining Room (with open seating) that offers regional and seasonal cuisine. Other options for a drink include Maindeck Lounge, Midship lounge and Chesapeake lounge.

American Star clientele consists of well-traveled Americans. The onboard atmosphere is casual and friendly. Various port visits are offered every day. Due to its smaller size, American Star can visit the smallest ports during the shore excursions. Room service is available twice a day. Internet access and Wi-Fi are complimentary. Other amenities are the free cocktails before dinner, American staff & crew, guest lecturers. American Star has a Library Lounge, putting green, fitness, sunshade, lifts (serving all decks).

Itineraries

American Star itinerary program is based on cruises along the USA East Coast departing from Charleston , Jacksonville , Baltimore , NYC New York .

ACL cruise deals are inclusive of the Internet (Wi-Fi), all tours/excursions, flight and coach transfers, live evening entertainment, daily expert lecturers, food tastings, 24-hour coffee/tea, replenished daily bottled water, room-service (twice daily).

American Star Wiki

American Star is a coastal passenger ship similar as design to the FLEETMATE  American Spirit . Because of their smaller sizes, most ACL ships can visit smallest ports featuring historic architecture, museums and amazing shore excursions.

American Star offers small-ship travel vacations along the US East Coast and also river cruises in the USA. The list of itineraries and departure ports includes: 7-day "Historic South and Golden Isles" from Charleston SC and Jacksonville FL , 14-day "East Coast Inland Passage" from Florida (Jacksonville), 6-day "Chesapeake Bay" from  Baltimore MD , 7-day "New England Islands" from  Providence RI , 7-day Fall Foliage "Hudson River" cruises from  NYC (New York) .

From the waterways we cruise to the partners we support and the port cities we visit, we pride ourselves on our continual conservation efforts through emissions reduction, sustainable sourcing, onboard recycling program, and strategies to reduce water and energy consumption. The areas in which we cruise are some of the country’s most pristine. We are committed to keeping them that way for generations to come. American uses low-energy LED lighting throughout the ship as well as EPA Energy Star equipment to reduce overall onboard energy consumption. This means both less energy consumed and less electricity generated.

Setting Industry Standards

Unlike older ships, which are largely exempted from new regulations, our fleet of new US riverboats has advanced wastewater treatment systems which are compliant with the most stringent industry standards.

High Emissions Standards

American’s series of modern riverboats meets new emissions standards set by the EPA. Engines and generators are EPA Tier 4 compliant and use modern technologies for exhaust after-treatment.

Minimised Carbon Footprint

Our fleet runs on the most efficient engines in the industry, designed to reduce pollution and leave a smaller carbon footprint. Exhaust scrubbers and advanced electronic controls contribute to our carbon reduction.

What's Included

American Cruise Lines’ per person fare includes passage, dining service, snacks, complimentary cocktail parties, and entertainment aboard the ship. Fares do not include shore tours (unless otherwise noted) or port charges and fees. Guests are not expected to leave a gratuity on board.

Glen Powell Adria Arjona Hit Man

It’s a “Hot Glen Summer” at the movies.

Just like the immortal words of Megan Thee Stallion, who’s billed every summer since 2019 the perfect time to do “hot girl shit,” Glen Powell is heating up movie screens. Summer 2024 firmly establishes him as a power player with Netflix’s “ Hit Man ,” the Prime Video documentary “The Blue Angels” and Universal “Twisters” dropping in rapid succession.

Xbox dominated summer game fest — but game pass remains tricky bet, eddie marsan on playing a u.s. president in 'franklin,' amy winehouse's dad in 'black to back' and staying under the radar, popular on variety.

Like Retta, Linklater has had a front row seat to the actor’s glow-up, going from casting a teenage Powell in 2006’s “Fast Food Nation,” then reuniting for 2016’s “Everybody Wants Some” to co-writing “Hit Man” together.

“The industry doesn’t really have a place for that the way they used to; they don’t make adult films that require that they’re making such juvenile material, that his kind of performance doesn’t always have a place in,” he notes. “It’s fun to see it align. It’s overdue, but it’s good that it’s happening.”

Powell chuckles at the hashtag-ready phrase, but he’s quick to put his recent hot streak in perspective.

“What I would say to anybody that really, wants to do this job is that anything that’s worth it sometimes takes time, and in hindsight, all the failure on the way to this moment has been so important,” Powell says. “Getting to watch how people develop movies and learn from my heroes and learn from people that are doing it right and learn from people that are doing it wrong, on and off screen, I’ve really had the benefit of a lot of education. And that comes from failure.”

“HIt Man” asks Powell to use all those abilities Linklater and Retta call out – hard work, humor and a good, old-fashioned bit of charm — to play Gary Johnson, a strait-laced college professor who works part time with the New Orleans police department as a fake hit man. But the hottest thing about “Hit Man” is Powell’s chemistry with Adria Arjona . She plays Madison, a woman who’s looking to have her abusive husband killed but instead steals Gary’s heart (though he’s in character as as a suave, devil-may-care hunk named Ron).

The movie is inspired by the unbelievable true story of the late Gary Johnson, a Texas man who worked for the Houston police department posing as a contract killer; Johnson’s story was captured in a 2001 Texas Monthly article. As adapted for the screen by Linklater and Powell, “Hit Man” is a noir romantic comedy that plays up the slapstick humor when Powell transforms into a slew of hit men customized for each client — among the internet’s favorites include killer who’s a dead ringer for “American Psycho’s” Patrick Bateman, as well as Powell’s best red-wigged Tilda Swinton impression and a Russian killer who is basically Javier Bardem’s Anton Chigurh from “No Country for Old Men” with a splash of “The Room’s” Tommy Wiseau.

Arjona — who is sitting beside Powell with his dog Brisket on her lap — says she liked “Tanner,” a skeet-shooting redneck who’s missing a few front teeth, best. “There’s just something about him; you want to get to know him,” she jokes.

But all the disguises and the sexy role play that becomes a big part of Gary and Madison’s relationship are part of a deeper theme Powell and Linklater aimed to explore about the concept of identity and how one can become one’s best self.

“When Rick and I were breaking this movie, we talked about the tropes of thrillers and noir movies, and how some will have these nihilistic bummers of an ending. [We thought,] ‘Okay, what if this was actually the beginning of a family? What if this was the beginning of a beautiful love story?’” Powell says. “This concept of identity and self is so interesting, because as you move through life, so often people describe us as an identity that we almost feel stuck in. We almost become derivatives of those labels. This movie is really saying, “Hey, become the label you want you to put out there. Own your identity. Seize that identity.”

Take Gary and Madison’s “meet cute,” for instance. They meet at a diner to discuss arrangements to kill her husband, but quickly fall into familiar and flirty banter.

But for all these weighty ideas to work, there had to be crackling chemistry between the two leads — and thankfully Arjona had a great idea for developing that. The actor pitched Powell and Linklater on a Pinterest board where they could share images from their favorite movies and art to get a sense of each other’s tastes while writing the script.

“Everyone finds different things sensual,” Arjona explains. “It was interesting to see both of our perspectives, hone in and start molding it from that sense. It sparked conversations that you wouldn’t normally have, because we were in the process of creating it.”

Powell agrees, saying the unique form of collaboration helped the intimate moments feel more integrated into the story, almost as if storyboarding the emotional journey the characters would take.

“So often, sex scenes feel almost divorced from the movie, like a marketing play or it feels icky,” he says. “In this movie, those scenes are crucial in the changing and seizing of identity. You have to see a guy who sees the world in such a binary, stale place checking logic at the door and becoming a whole new person. This romantic relationship is really expediting it. It’s the catalyst for everything.”

The only thing Arjona didn’t really factor in was having to play out those fantasies. “It was three brains working, and then it was like, ‘Oh, wait, I’m the one that has to put the flight attendant outfit on now.’ I’m like, ‘Oh, God, I did this to myself,’” she laughs. “It was beautiful and intentional. It didn’t feel like we were just doing sex scenes just to do sex scenes; it came from a creative place.”

For as artistic and well-conceived as they were, filming the movie’s sex scenes did prove complicated. Arjona and Powell ended up “with a crazy rash” after filming in a bathtub, because someone added Dawn dish soap to the water and it stripped their skin of its natural oils. Then there’s the scene where Madison pours wine down her naked body and “Ron” kisses it off. That one came from an image Arjona posted on the board and pushed to have in the film.

“There was something about the silhouette and the wine on her neck and him drinking it that felt so sensual and beautiful,” Arjona says recalling the image of a woman in a strapless dress in an intimate embrace with her lover. “We were like, ‘How can we bring that to life?’”

So, at three in the morning on a hot New Orleans night, Powell and Arjona embarked on that task as their final setup of the day.

7 under-the-radar All-Star candidates in each league

David Adler

David Adler

The 2024 MLB All-Star ballot features plenty of big names having standout seasons: Aaron Judge, Juan Soto, Shohei Ohtani, Mookie Betts, Bryce Harper, Freddie Freeman … the list goes on.

But if you want to go past the usual superstars, there are plenty of other deserving players who could be All-Stars in both the American League and the National League.

  • Vote now: 2024 MLB All-Star Game

Here are seven under-the-radar All-Star candidates for each league. (All stats are entering play Friday.)

AMERICAN LEAGUE

Third base: Jordan Westburg , Orioles Key stat: .360 AVG / .663 SLG / 1.077 OPS vs. opponents .500 or better

There are bigger names on the ballot at third base (José Ramírez and Rafael Devers). There are even bigger names on the ballot in Westburg's own infield (Gunnar Henderson and Adley Rutschman). But the breakout sophomore has a compelling All-Star case. Besides his 140 OPS+ overall, Westburg's also been at his best against the O's toughest opponents. His 1.077 OPS against winning teams is third-best in the Majors behind only Judge and Ohtani.

Shortstop: Anthony Volpe , Yankees Key stat: .321 AVG / .856 OPS as 1st batter of game

It's hard to call a Yankees shortstop "under the radar," but there are two other first-half MVP candidates at the position in Gunnar Henderson and Bobby Witt Jr. But Volpe's breakout shouldn't be ignored. The 23-year-old has been terrific at sparking the Yankees' lineup in games -- Volpe is batting .321 leading off games, which he's done 59 times, setting the table for Soto, Judge and Giancarlo Stanton coming up behind him.

Outfield: Daulton Varsho , Blue Jays Key stat: +1.83 Win Probability Added

It'd be easy to just check off Aaron Judge, Juan Soto and Kyle Tucker in the AL outfield and move on. But this is a stacked position. Not only is Varsho one of the premier defenders in the league (his +9 Outs Above Average is tied for the best among outfielders ), he's also been a clutch hitter who's contributed a ton toward the Blue Jays actually winning games. Varsho's +1.83 Win Probability Added is top 10 in the Majors .

Outfield: Steven Kwan , Guardians Key stat: .380 AVG, 7.7% K%

Kwan missed almost all of May, but he's back in the Guardians lineup and looks like the best contact hitter in the league. Kwan's .380 batting average is the best among hitters with 150-plus plate appearances by nearly 50 points, and he also has the third-lowest strikeout rate and the fifth-highest OPS (.979).

Outfield: Jarren Duran , Red Sox Key stat: 10 triples, 15 SB

If you want to inject electricity into an All-Star lineup, look no further than Duran. The Red Sox speedster has a Major League-leading 10 triples this season, and if you hold him to a single, he'll just steal on you. Duran is one of the fastest players in the league (29.3 ft/sec sprint speed, in the 94th percentile of MLB), and he covers just as much ground in the outfield as he does on the bases (+6 Outs Above Average).

Designated hitter: David Fry , Guardians Key stat: +24 batting run value

Cleveland's utility player extraordinaire has turned out to be one of the most valuable hitters in baseball this season. On the All-Star ballot at DH, where he has to compete with feared sluggers Yordan Alvarez and Giancarlo Stanton, Fry still has a convincing case. The 28-year-old is batting .321 with a 1.017 OPS in his 166 plate appearances, and his +24 runs created ties him with Witt for the seventh-highest batting run value of any hitter, according to Statcast.

Designated hitter: Brent Rooker , A's Key stat: .555 expected SLG, 10 no-doubter HR

Rooker's been slugging away in Oakland, and he's been right up there with the other top DHs. Based on his quality of contact, Rooker's expected slugging percentage is tied with Fernando Tatis Jr. for the 10th-best in baseball . He has the type of big-time power you want to see in an All-Star Game. Rooker has 10 no-doubter home runs this season -- homers that would be gone in all 30 MLB ballparks -- tied for the third-most of any hitter , and as many as Stanton.

NATIONAL LEAGUE

Second base: Brice Turang , Brewers Key stat: 24 SB to 1 CS

Ketel Marte and Luis Arraez have the name recognition at second base in the NL, but Turang has been one of the biggest difference-makers for an upstart Brewers team that leads the NL Central. The 24-year-old has raised his batting average and on-base percentage by over 70 points from his rookie to his sophomore season (.218 to .294, .285 to .358), which has let him take full advantage of his elite base-stealing ability. Turang ranks second in MLB with 24 steals, behind only Elly De La Cruz, and he's only been caught once.

Third base: Joey Ortiz , Brewers Key stat: 137 OPS+

Another young Brewer making an impact is Ortiz, in his first season with the club after being traded from Baltimore. With a lot of big-name NL third basemen having down seasons -- Nolan Arenado, Matt Chapman, Manny Machado, Austin Riley -- the door could be open. Ortiz has a 137 OPS+, the best among NL third basemen. And like his old teammate Jordan Westburg in the AL, Ortiz has been great against strong opponents, with a 1.052 OPS against teams .500 or better.

Shortstop: Oneil Cruz , Pirates Key stat: 5 of the 10 hardest-hit balls of 2024

Mookie Betts and Elly De La Cruz might command the spotlight at NL shortstop, but this Cruz pick is more for the fun factor. Cruz has one of the biggest bats in the Majors, and very few players could put on a light-tower power display in the All-Star Game that he could. The Pirates slugger has the two hardest-hit balls of the 2024 season -- a 121.5 mph double and a 120.4 mph single -- and five of the top 10 . He also has the fourth-hardest home run, the 117.7 mph, 462-foot blast he hit against the Dodgers on June 6.

Catcher: Patrick Bailey , Giants Key stat: 1.86 second avg. pop time

Bailey has been one of the best two-way catchers in the league this season. At the plate, he's the only catcher with a .300-plus expected batting average this season based on his quality of contact. Behind the plate, he's one of the best pitch framers in the game, and has one of the best arms of any catcher . It's always cool to watch a showdown between a star base-stealer and a star catcher, and if anyone can make that happen in the All-Star Game, it's Bailey.

Outfield: Brandon Nimmo , Mets Key stat: .982 OPS with RISP, 1.148 OPS in high-leverage situations

The NL All-Star outfield is up for grabs this year, especially with Mookie Betts moving to shortstop and Corbin Carroll slumping. The frontrunners are probably Fernando Tatis Jr., Christian Yelich and maybe Jurickson Profar, but Nimmo is quietly having another valuable season in New York. He's really stepped up when it counts: Nimmo is batting .291 with a .982 OPS with runners in scoring position, .391 with an 1.152 OPS with two outs and runners in scoring position, and .308 with a 1.148 OPS in high-leverage situations.

american star yacht

Outfield: Heliot Ramos , Giants Key stat: 159 OPS+

You could also go the "stellar play with limited playing time" route for the NL outfield. Ramos didn't make his season debut until May 8, but he's been terrific ever since he got into the Giants' lineup. The 24-year-old is batting .305 with a 159 OPS+ in his 135 plate appearances. That batting average ranks third among NL outfielders with as many plate appearances, behind only Yelich and Profar, and the OPS+ ranks second, between Profar and Yelich.

Outfield: Seiya Suzuki , Cubs Key stat: .970 OPS in Cubs wins

An oblique injury interrupted a red-hot start to the season for Suzuki, but the Cubs slugger has found his groove again. Suzuki had an .893 OPS when he was sidelined on April 14, and now he has an .894 OPS over his last 18 games, going back to when he first started to heat up following his return. As Suzuki goes, so go the Cubs: Suzuki is batting .321 with a .970 OPS in Cubs wins this season.

Regan Smith sets American record at Olympic swimming trials in 100 back

Regan Smith hasn’t qualified for her second Olympic Games yet, but she’s looking like a medal contender for Paris after breaking her own American record in the women’s 100-meter backstroke Monday night at the U.S. Olympic trials.

Smith comfortably won the second 100 back semifinal of the night at Lucas Oil Stadium with a 57.47 swim, knocking off her previous American record of 57.51 from May.

Starting off strong, the 22-year-old Stanford swimmer posted a 28.02 50-meter split, which was about one-tenth of a second ahead of world record pace. Smith finished with a solid second half, and until about the last five meters, it looked like she had a serious shot of breaking Australian swimmer Kaylee McKeown’s 57.33 world record.

While trying again to reclaim the 100 back world record — which Smith set in 2019 — will have to wait at least another day, she's the clear frontrunner at U.S. trials in the event and the top seed entering Tuesday night’s top-8 final.

A three-time Olympic medalist, she won a bronze in the 100 back at the 2021 Tokyo Olympics, along with two silvers in the 200-meter butterfly and the women’s 4x100-meter medley relay.

Smith finished third in the women’s 100-meter butterfly Sunday, just missing the top-2 qualifying spots.

Hollywood’s first asian american star anna may wong celebrated in l.a. museum show.

A portrait of the actress taken around 1930

Anna May Wong — born Wong Liu Tsong in Los Angeles on Jan. 3, 1905 — is widely recognized as Hollywood’s first Asian American movie star.

Though Wong’s many deaths are well documented on film, her multifaceted life offscreen remained generally unacknowledged until now. For the next seven months, the exhibit Unmasking Anna May Wong at downtown L.A.’s Chinese American Museum (CAM) will shine a broader light on the actress, philanthropist and socialite, who was known variously as “the world’s most beautiful Chinese girl” and “the world’s best-dressed woman.” (In 1938, she auctioned some of her famed wardrobe to fund medical supplies for people in China after Japan invaded the country.)

“She was a really vibrant, alive person,” says Katie Gee Salisbury, one of the exhibit curators, who first stumbled upon a photograph of Wong back in 2004. As a woman of Chinese and Anglo-Irish descent who grew up in Southern California, Salisbury was surprised she’d never heard of the Chinese American actress, who was born on Flower Street in downtown L.A.

Thus began Salisbury’s 20-year journey learning everything she could about Wong’s life. After extensive research, Salisbury noticed that in previous accounts “there was an overemphasis on the more tragic elements of her career” — including Hollywood’s staunch refusal to give her meaningful leading roles (most notably 1937’s The Good Earth , in which German actress Luise Rainer appeared in yellowface) — as well as her premature death.

Indeed, the notoriously strong-willed Wong — who cheekily signed her autographs “Orientally yours” — was a woman who found success on television and in Europe when the American film industry no longer cast her.

But, says Salisbury, “you can’t really understand Anna May Wong unless you’ve seen her onscreen.” To that end, the new museum exhibition includes clips of Wong’s performances in such films as 1924’s The Thief of Bagdad (in which she played a Mongol slave), Peter Pan , Mr. Wu , Across to Singapore and Bombs Over Burma . In addition to her feature roles, Wong self-produced a documentary, My China Film , in which she documented her first trip to China after being offered yet another stereotypical minor role next to Rainer in The Good Earth .

“She built up a level of stardom in Hollywood, but Hollywood didn’t know what to do with her,” David Schwartz, former chief curator at the Museum of the Moving Image, has said.

In CAM’s museum show, personal items — such as displays of Wong’s stylish dresses and glimmering jewelry — are on loan from Anna Wong, daughter of Anna May Wong’s youngest brother, Richard.

Anna Wong, who is a CAM board member, claims she was joking, but museum staff nevertheless honored her request by building the new exhibit around the mural, which remains as a central piece in the final room of the show.

Although both Salisbury’s book and the exhibit took several years to come to life, their fruition was timely. Within the past few years, interest in the actress has surged. In 2023, Mattel released an Anna May Wong Barbie doll, just months after she became the first Asian American to be immortalized on the U.S. quarter. In Beverly Hills, Crustacean restaurant opened its Anna May bar a couple of years back.

And onscreen, both Ryan Murphy and Damien Chazelle included characters inspired by Wong in Hollywood and Babylon , respectively. But Anna Wong wants people to know that those versions of her aunt are fictional. Above all, she says, “I want them to know her as a person.”

‘It’s like living my life over again’: Tommy Hilfiger on 40 years of growth

The american designer breaks down his mykonos takeover and why expanding his brand still feels just as exciting as when he first started out.

Tommy Hilfiger_Destination Summer_Mykonos_Andrew G

40 years ago, Tommy Hilfiger fulfilled one of his earliest dreams – opening his first flagship store. “Oh, I remember it like it was yesterday, my first Tommy store was on Columbus Avenue in New York City in 1985,” Hilfiger reflects fondly, standing in his brand-new store in Mykonos . Ten minutes ago, we were on a Zoom but the unpredictable Grecian winds got in the way of our video call.

After all these decades, it would not be surprising if it was more of a chore than a thrill to attend another store opening but for Hilfiger, the expansion of his brand remains a joy and reminder of his original goal and dreams. “It's like I’m living my life over again,” he says, explaining his excitement in what would be his over 2000th retail store. “It's exciting to look forward to and execute an idea, that may at one point might just be the seed of an idea. As time goes on, we start expanding on the idea to make it come to fruition in a way that is memorable and I think disruptive and in a way.”

To celebrate the launch of the store, the Tommy Hilfiger team invited 28 members of the press and influencers to Mykonos. After enjoying a shopping experience in the store, soundtracked with live music by DJ Tjani, guests enjoyed a weekend of sailing, Greek food and walks alongside the private beach at the Bill & Coo Coast.

Below, we break down what went down during the weekend and Tommy talks us through the event.

HE OPENED HIS FIRST STORE ON THE ISLAND

Located right at the heart of the island, the new store brings a touch of Hilfiger’s American summer charm to Greece. “Mykonos is a hot destination for summer travellers,” he explained, speaking on why he felt it right to open the location. “I love the ambience. I love the restaurants, the food, the shopping and the old-world charm. It's really surrounded by a beautiful body of water, the Aegean.”

THE NEW SUMMER 2024 COLLECTION WAS UNVEILED

Alongside the celebration of the store, the event also launched the latest Tommy Summer collection. Building on the longstanding Hilfiger summer classics of linens, shorts and maxidresses in blue, white and red colourways, the Summer 2024 collection also sees the launch of two guest edits with George Russell and Sofia Richie. “I love the Sofia edit because the navy and white stripes are my favourites and the navy and white striped crocheted dress is like a perfect summer item,” Hilfiger said, speaking on the collaboration. “But I also love the linen shorts George Russell wears. I love the colour range we have it's simple, but it's very chic. The colour range is white, navy, bright blue, and khaki.”

A SPECIAL FEW WERE INVITED ON HIS YACHT, FLAG

The highlight of the weekend was undoubtedly the trip on his yacht. “I remember the first year I went I bought the boat. We went from Saint Tropez to Corsica, to Sardinia, to Portofino to Capri, to Mykonos.” During the boat trip, guests got a taste of what Tommy’s annual summer sailing trips are all about, with none other than Hilfiger himself.

THE WEEKEND ENDED AT TOMMY ’ S TAVERNA

Similar to many visitors of the Greek islands, Hilfiger spends his time engaging in the culture through cuisine. “My favourite things to do around the islands, unfortunately, and fortunately, is to eat,” he explained. To wrap up the event, everyone had a finale dinner at the local farm-to table restaurant, RIZES – which was transformed into’ Tommy’s Taverna’.

Trail Blazers News: Portland Seen As 'Floor' For Star Big Man in NBA Draft

  • Portland Trail Blazers

The Portland Trail Blazers hold two picks in the top 15 of the upcoming NBA Draft, No. 7 and No. 14. This gives them the chance to bring in some real talent to the mix, helping them get back to the postseason.

They may be looking at some big men in the process, having worked out a few head of the draft.

According to ESPN senior writer Zach Lowe on The Lowe Post podcast , the Trail Blazers may be seen as the floor for UConn Huskies big man Donovan Clingan. They reportedly value him very highly entering this draft.

"That is his absolute floor. If he is there at No. 7, Portland is taking him."

Clingan is likely to go earlier than pick No. 7 but the Trail Blazers could always try to move up in the draft if he truly is the guy that they want. Portland could package both its first-round picks to entice a team to move back down and in this NBA Draft, the likelihood could be high of that happening.

This draft isn't seen on a high note and rather seems to have more depth pieces within it. However, in each draft, there are always some that rise to the top and Clingan could be the next.

If the team drafted Clingan, they could go with the two-center approach next season. Much like what the Minnesota Timberwolves have done, Portland could emulate the success seen there.

This draft remains a wild card for many reasons but the Trail Blazers are one of the few teams that could shake things up if they choose.
