Discover Esseboats: Where Tradition Meets Innovation

Made for freedom..

She needs to be sporty. She needs to offer the best sailing performance in strong winds and a light breeze alike. And she needs to be fun – with a crew as well as solo. Zero compromises. This was the dream of company founder Josef Schuchter. When he couldn’t find this on the market, he created it himself.

Together with the Italian designer Umberto Felci and the Proteus shipyard on Lake Garda, Josef Schuchter developed his first dream sailboat, combining technical sophistication, stylish design and high quality: the esse 850.

On 3 March 2004, the first esse 850 was launched with construction number 1. And with great enthusiasm: it functioned flawlessly and the desired easy handling – combined with the fact that the boat’s rudder was extremely sensitive – won sailors over immediately.

One week later, Josef Schuchter took part in a regatta with his boat.

Despite considerable competition, he and his team won the first race with the esse 850 SUI-001 without even having done any speed comparisons beforehand.

Further regatta successes followed in the same year. The highlight was the European Championship for sports boats, in which three esse 850s competed and two of them achieved first and second place.

Even before the esse 850 completed her final trials in Barcelona, she was nominated for “European boat of the year” by the eleven leading European yachting magazines, an award which she won, too.

Since then, the esse 850 has been followed by other innovative boat types with distinctive designs. The high quality always remains the same – typically Swiss.

The Schuchter family is behind esseboats: founded by Josef Schuchter, the second generation has already taken the helm with the three sons Gregor, Stefan and Florian. While boat builder Stefan is in charge of the shipyard, Florian and Gregor are responsible for sales, logistics and marketing.

All three have been enthusiastic sailors from an early age.

In addition to selling esseboats, the company’s own shipyard in Stäfa – Schuchter Sportboot AG – also offers all services related to sailing boats.

About the class

The Esse 750 International Class is the official union of the Esse 750 one-design yachts all over the world. The Class was established in July 2015 during the 1st International Esse 750 Regatta at St. Moritz.

The goal of the Esse 750 International Class is on one hand the stimulation of regatta events of the globally spread Esse 750 yachts. For this matter, presumably one exclusive event (as the upcoming event at St. Moritz in July 2015) will be organized and held per year. On the other hand, the class likewise looks after the social aspect of the sport of sailing around the Esse 750. It encourages communication and exchange between the sailors to starch solidarity and create an attractive sailing atmosphere. The Esse 750 International Class therefore supports two most important issues – sailing as a sport as well as an attitude towards life.

Latest News

Season well under way.

The season is well underway with two races having taken place on Lake Zurich and Lake Geneva. Not too radical conditions with fairly light winds allowed competitors to sharpen their knives and jump back into the season without too much drama. See some photos of the action on our instagram account.

About The Class

The «Esse 850 International Class» is the official class-unification of the Esse 850 One-Design yachts and was founded in January 2007 at Schloss Rapperswil. Its task is to enable international regattas, stimulate communication among the sailors of the Esse 850 and promote and coordinate all activities in Switzerland and internationally.

In 2010, the Swiss Esse 850 Class was accommodated to «Swiss Sailing» as a Member Class and has been authorized to perform official Swiss Championships. The class association currently counts 50 members who actively participate in regattas.

‘Step up the budget’ demand Love Island fans baffled by surprise detail on Mimii and Ayo’s romantic date

LOVE Island fans have demanded the show "step up" after Mimii and Ayo went on their first date.

The ITV2 stars, who were part of the original 2024 line-up , were whisked out of the villa on Wednesday night's episode.

Mental health nurse Mimii, 24, and former footballer Ayo , 25, were treated to a lavish trip on a boat, complete with a bottle of bubbly.

Ayo even took the lead as he steered the vessel through the crystal-clear waters of a Mallorca dock.

Yet despite the loved-up scenes, which saw the pair discuss their mutual appreciation for religion and going to church, as well as praise for his coupling-up speech, fans were less than impressed.

One took to X to moan about the size of the white vessel and quipped: "This is the boat you get when the series entire budget was spent on Joey Essex."

Others took aim at the Portsmouth beauty for using the word "yacht" when she recalled their afternoon antics to the girls.

Another urged Love Island bosses to "step up" the budget and said: "You went on a yacht?” LMAO they were on the smallest boat known to man….budget was defo blown on Joey Essex."

Another added: "Mimii had to emphasise the boat was tiny af. Mind you, they have the same boats in Hyde Park."

A fan then put: "Couldn't concentrate on the tiny wee boat they were in, travelling at 5mph..twas like they pedalling themselves," as one surmised: "Mini yacht Mimi? That was a boat love."

Just three days ago, Ayo confirmed his full focus was on Mimii.

The Canning Town lad told how his connection with bombshell bombshell Uma was "dead now."

He was getting to know Mimii until Uma entered the villa , before Uma stole Ayo from Mimii during her first re-coupling.

Yet when Mimii took him back, the pair went from strength to strength.

In a candid interview on spin-off show Aftersun, Ayo revealed his true feelings.

Host Maya Jama asked him: "Are feelings for that wrapped up in a box now?," before he responded, "I wouldn't say wrapped up, I guess it's just dead now, in the sense of, she's left the situation.
