Foynes Yacht Club

Founded in 1962, Foynes Yacht Club has a modern club house with good facilities, bar, showers, changing rooms, kitchen and dance floor. Floating pontoons and deep water moorings allow ease of access to boats at all stages of the tide. 

Foynes is located in the southwest of Ireland on the southern shore of the Shannon Estuary on a channel formed by Foynes Island. It has a very busy commercial port and to the west of the port Foynes Yacht Club is located. It is about 25 miles west of Limerick City on the N69.  In the club there are about 12 yachts over 9 metres, 8 in the 7-9 metre range and about 10 active mermaids, plus other dinghies. We race every Wednesday evening during the summer months and on Sundays in September as well as some annual weekend events. In all, there are just over 130 members.

Our facilities include a modern clubhouse with bar, dance floor, toilets and showers.

The club has a pontoon which can accommodate approximately 8 visiting boats, 4 club boats, the club crash boat and 12 dinghies.

All other boats are kept on swinging moorings on the east side of Foynes Island. Additionally there is a wintering compound for approximately 25 yachts and a launching slip.

Racing every Wednesday evening during the season. Membership is open to all, and Juniors are especially welcome

Foynes Yacht Club is a vibrant and family friendly club, attracting people from all walks of life who have an interest in sailing, recreational boating, water sports and social activities.

We are always looking to increasing the Foynes Yacht Club family so please encourage your friends to check out our website, drop by to see our facility and talk to us about how to get involved.

We encourage families to take advantage of our exceptional sailing programmes, have your children experience the wonderful sport of sailing and give them a skill they will enjoy their entire lives. Foynes Yacht Club is a great place to learn and grow.

Yearly Club Racing Fee - In order to participate in club racing at FYC you must pay this club racing fee

Thursday Night Racing Fee - This fee covers one night of racing.

FYC will host WIORA 2024 June 12 - 15th.

White Sails Entry

Meal Ticket - FYC will host the WIORA Prize Giving Dinner on Saturday June 15th . This meal will be hosted at the clubhouse at 7.30pm. Please provide meal choice and any dietary requirements when booking.

Our Sailing Academy is a certified Irish Sailing Centre. We offer several courses throughout the Summer for children aged 8 to 16 years old. These courses are suitable for sailors of all experience.

Estuary Otters is a course built around helping children become more comfortable around the water. The course is the perfect introduction to the water exploring a variety of on the water activities including sailing, swimming, kayaking etc… This course also acts as a great stepping stone before progressing onto our sailing courses. This course is suitable for children aged 7 - 10 years old.
