Mit ihrem cleanen Profil lehnt die Riva 88′ Folgore auch an die 48′ Dolceriva an. Zwei Linien bestimmen das Exterieur: Die leicht reverse Windschutzscheibe und das Fenster, das wie ein breiter Pinselstrich auf dem silbernen Rumpf wirkt. Zu den größten Herausforderungen für die Riva Werft gehörte die lang gestreckte U-förmige Windschutzscheibe. Tatsächlich handelt es sich um die komplizierteste, da am stärksten geneigte Windschutzscheibe, die Riva je baute.

Variable Garage, private Buglounge

Die Tür zur Achtergarage dient zugleich als Badeplattform oder besser – als sechs Quadratmeter großer Beachclub. Daher bereitet das Navigieren von der Flybridge aus auch noch mehr Freude. Zwei 16-Inch-Displays zeigen Ihnen alle Bootsdaten an. Die gesamte Flybridge lässt sich mit einem Bimini überdachen.

Herausragendes italienisches Design im Interieur

Riva 88 Folgore: On Board Riva's New 26.92 Metre Yacht

Riva has pulled off a trick by reinventing a classic with a flash of brilliance. Step on board with Risa Merl as she discovers the new Riva 88’ Folgore .

Improving upon a classic is a challenge that many a yacht builder must face when the time comes to update an already popular model. The new 26.92-metre Riva 88’ Folgore is a case in point, aiming to outdo the Riva 88’ Domino, of which nearly 40 hulls were sold in the 12 years following launch. Folgore means thunderbolt in Italian, and as her name suggests, the new Riva flashes across the water, reaching speeds of nearly 40 knots at half load. She boasts sleeker lines, enhanced performance, plus more layout options and innovative solutions than her predecessor.

Riva, part of the Ferretti Group , briefed collaborators Officina Italiana Design , the studio founded by Mauro Micheli and Sergio Beretta, which has designed the entire Riva range since 1994. They wanted an elegant yacht for their “Sport-fly” range, with the same dimensions as the 88’ Domino.

It should also strike a perfect balance between the past and the present. This part of the brief is a theme in all Rivas, with the yard striving to create modern boats while invoking the historical charm, trademarked colour palette and evocative detailing of classic Riva runabouts. This goal was pulled off with aplomb in the builder’s largest yacht to date, the Riva 50 Metri Race , and the brand hopes to continue the trend in its newer, smaller models, such as the Folgore.

Influenced by another new model, the 14.92-metre Dolceriva , the Folgore has sleek lines and an exterior profile that is cleaner and simpler than those of the Domino. “The boat is characterised by two simple lines running along its profile and the slight reverse-angle of the windshield,” says designer Mauro Micheli, “and the hull windows, which run like a deft upward black pencil stroke along its silvery flank.”

 “We gave Mauro and his team a brief that was mostly technical – the size, the number of cabins – then we let them draw,” says Ferretti Group’s CCO Stefano de Vivo. “Mauro has designed about 40 Rivas; he has proven he has Riva DNA within him.” A wraparound windshield that extends glazing all the way to the aft deck at full height was one of the most challenging parts of the project, says de Vivo. “It is the most inclined and most complicated windshield that you’ll find on a Riva. We went to great expense to research how to create the perfect glass curve with minimal distortions.”

Micheli notes the importance of carrying three of Riva’s signature materials – mahogany, stainless steel and leather – throughout the yacht. “Innovation is something that we always introduce little by little, step by step, without shaking up the design,” he says. 

The Folgore’s exterior has a quintessentially Riva colour story, with a shark-grey hull and Riva-blue boot-stripe on the waterline. On the transom alone, you can see stainless steel and mahogany complemented by a carbon-fibre air intake. The exterior upholstery is clean white, and tables are topped in mahogany with a stainless-steel base.

This distinctive Riva colour palette is carried into the interior, which has a mix of rosewood, white parquet floors, black fabric on the ceiling and plentiful details in stainless steel, leather and glass. The light and bright main saloon benefits from that enormous windshield and glazing, and the Folgore also introduces a skylight over the main saloon from the sizable flybridge above, which floods natural light into the dining area. 

Continuity flows in the four lower deck cabins, which are adorned in gloss rosewood, with white carpeted floors, white leather headboards and black leather upholstery. Showers, countertops and backsplashes are in a white and gold Calacatta marble.

One of Micheli’s favourite spaces on board the Folgore is the completely reimagined stern and swim platform, a new element not seen on the Domino. Here, a garage door that swings open can be positioned in two ways: above the waterline, to take advantage of a six-square-metre beach club, or lowered and immersed in the water, to allow the launch and landing of a tender. The garage can accommodate a 3.9-metre tender and a jet ski. “I also like the cosy area at the bow where you can relax in privacy,” says Micheli.

Built in composites with carbon-fibre reinforcements on the superstructure, main deck and centre of the hull, the Folgore puts a focus on performance. The hull shape was redesigned and optimised through extensive CFD (computational fluid dynamics) testing. 

The new hull design is a “warped” or modified V- shape, with a flatter section to the stern that helps increase speed. This design also improves efficiency, which allowed the builder to use more marble, glass and stainless steel on board. “These are heavy materials, which are an enemy to efficiency, but we were able to create a lighter yacht,” says de Vivo.

While the Folgore seeks to differentiate itself from the Domino, the two yachts have something interesting in common. “Both went out in particular periods of time – the Domino was launched in 2009, in the middle of [the Global Financial Crisis]; the Folgore comes during the Covid-19 crisis,” says Micheli. “Domino has helped the Ferretti Group in a tough moment, and we hope Folgore can have the same positive destiny.”

Hull No 1 was delivered this summer, and hull No 4 will be with her owner by March 2021. More hulls are already in production, with Riva planning to build three to four annually. “We could produce up to eight, but we want to keep it exclusive,” says de Vivo. The allure of exclusivity – is there anything more Riva than that?

Riva 88 Folgore, lo sportfly creato con la matrice dell'arte

Guardi il nuovo Riva 88 Folgore e scopri come un insieme di linee rette, intersecandosi fra loro, riescano a dare luogo a un design globale avvolgente, morbido e dinamico al tempo stesso, insomma un design unico come solo Riva può esprimere e come Officina Italiana Design sa ben creare.

Ventisette metri di pura espressione di un design che colpisce per la sua unicità, ma che comunque riesce a rimanere "familiare" all'occhio di chi osserva il nuovo Riva 88 Folgore.

È questa la particolarità di ogni Riva: raggiungere l'esclusività non con un intervento dirompente, bensì con la matrice dell'arte, che rende ogni opera unica ma facilmente ascrivibile al suo creatore che, nel caso (anche) dell'88 Folgore, è Officina Italiana Design, ovvero il creatore di tutti i Riva moderni.

Come in un mosaico, sono i tanti dettagli a impreziosire il look generale del nuovo Riva 88 Folgore.

Lo si nota per esempio dagli inserti poppieri in mogano e acciaio ai lati delle murate, oppure dallo spigolo sinuoso che solleva i parabrezza dalla struttura di base, ma anche dalle vetrate a murata, la cui linea di base non si ferma al perimetro dell'oblò, ma si spinge in uno slancio in diagonale verso poppa fino al capo di banda, creando un'unione ideale fra scafo e coperta, mentre a prua prosegue in una sorta di sbaffo, che accentua la dinamica della vetrata stessa.

Sportfly, carbonio e la comodità di una lunghezza da superyacht senza essere un superyacht

Il Riva 88 Folgore è lungo 27 metri, ma la carena si ferma a 23,98 metri, quindi per le norme italiane non rientra nella categoria dei superyacht, che richiede oneri amministrativi e di omologazione ben più impegnativi rispetto alla categoria di Imbarcazione a cui appartiene, ma possiede in ogni caso tutte le comodità e l'espressività di un superyacht.

Nell'ambito del catalogo del cantiere, invece, il Riva 88 Folgore rientra nella gamma degli Sporfly, ovvero quel tipo di barche che nasce come open hardtop, ma dove le grandi dimensioni del tetto permettono lo sfruttamento della sua superficie come un ponte di controplancia, che in questo caso è di ben 20 mq e completamente arredato con la postazione di comando, divani e prendisole.

Il vantaggio degli Sportfly (o Sport top, come altra definizione generale di questo tipo di barca) è che si ha uno yacht con tutti i vantaggi del flying bridge, ma senza rinunciare al tetto apribile, che sul Riva 88 Folgore è in cristallo ed è a ribalta sia verso poppa, sia verso prua. Inoltre non compromette il design sportivo e mantiene il baricentro più basso degli open hardtop rispetto alle barche fly.

La sovrastruttura del Riva 88 Folgore è realizzata con rinforzi in fibra di carbonio e pure qui si notano particolari interventi di design, che all'occhio trasformano la propaggine dello sportfly in una zona da osservare più come elemento artistico, che come struttura della barca.

Altre zone prendisole sono disponibili sul ponte di coperta, dove il divano in pozzetto può trasformarsi in solarium abbassando il tavolo, mentre a prua, oltre alla classica superficie dedicata, c'è anche un divano a C utile per rilassarsi sotto il sole, fermo restando che quando si ha il desiderio di ombra, ci sono gli appositi tendalini.

Lusso e arte dentro il Riva 88 Folgore

All'interno sono gli acciai e i cristalli a brillare come elementi di arredo, che sono intervallati dal legno di palissandro lucido utilizzato per i mobili, mentre il cuoio nelle tonalità chiare e scure, i pellami e i tessuti di pregio sono gli elementi che vanno a impreziosire ulteriormente il décor nei punti giusti.

Sottocoperta sono previste quattro cabine: l'armatoriale, due Vip e una doppia. A queste si aggiungono altri tre posti letto nell'head quarter dell'equipaggio, che è a poppa e che comprende anche una grande cucina.

La cabina armatoriale è a centro barca e si estende su una superficie di 20 mq, con l'accesso dedicato tramite tre gradini in marmo calacatta lucido bianco con inserti dorati, lo stesso che riveste anche il pavimento del bagno, la doccia e il piano dei lavabi.

Nella suite, oltre al letto posizionato sul lato di dritta, sono disponibili anche la cabina armadio e una zona beauty con seduta in pelle e alluminio di Living Divani, a cui si aggiungono una sedia in pelle di Poliform, un coffe-table di B&B Italia e una poltroncina color argento by Minotti per il salottino relax.

Sono inoltre previste tre soluzioni per la cabina armatoriale. La versione standard, ha un bagno e due cabine armadio, mentre la prima fra le opzionali, che è quella scelta dall'armatore di questa prima unità, vede l'estensione del bagno su tutta la larghezza della cabina nella zona dietro al letto. L'altra opzione offre la possibilità di avere, oltre al guardaroba, due bagni con servizi separati e doccia unica centrale.

Due scelte di motori con prestazioni

A spingere fino a 39 nodi di velocità massima e a 33 di crociera i 27 metri del Riva 88 Folgore sono due motori Mtu da 2638 cavalli, ma questo è l'equipaggiamento in opzione.

I motori standard sono invece due Mtu da 2435 cavalli, che comunque fanno segnare la ragguardevole velocità, per un 27 metri, di 82.000 kg (a pieno), di 36 nodi di massima e 30 di crociera veloce.

Le 88’ Folgore est le nouveau sportfly de Riva : puissant et innovant, il est d’une beauté foudroyante, comme sorti d’une œuvre de science-fiction. Le charme irrésistible de son design réside dans l’équilibre entre passé et présent, dans le concept qui associe l’utilisation de matériaux innovants tels que le carbone et des détails fidèles à la tradition, comme les incrustations en acajou et les décorations en acier. Comme tous les chefs-d’œuvre les plus récents de Riva, le 88’ Folgore est lui aussi le fruit d’un partenariat entre Officina Italiana Design (le bureau fondé par Mauro Micheli et Sergio Beretta), le Comité de stratégie produit présidé par l’ingénieur Piero Ferrari et le Département d’ingénierie du Groupe Ferretti.
