Delivered in 2013 by the renowned yacht builder Feadship, SEA OWL is a testament to the exemplary capabilities of her visionary owner, builder and the exceptional design work of Winch Designs, which is responsible for the yacht’s interior and exterior styling.

Inspired by literature, both fictional and not, SEA OWL offers a myriad of unique details that set her apart from all other yachts. Fairytale-inspired elements accentuate her walls while replicas of maps adorn ceilings; her bookshelves are lined with prose that comes to life as you move through the yacht.

The incredible Tree of Life wraps around the central staircase from top to bottom and is a custom, hand-carved Brazilian Mahogany masterpiece with never-ending details to delight the eyes. This creative interior décor even extends to the custom painted elevator accessing every deck of the yacht. Every room is a distinct treat, which in total represents one of the most highly customized and most expensive Feadships ever built in the size range.

This Feadship’s comfortable full-beam main salon is decorated in light neutral colors and features sumptuous furnishings. Flanked by windows and featuring fully opening sliding glass doors aft, natural light floods the space and offers guests impressive views. SEA OWL’s dining area features a large round dining table that sits under a stunning Dale Chihuly Venetian glass chandelier with a beautiful muraled backdrop. This area is so inviting and elegant, complete with a warm and welcoming fireplace.

SEA OWL has incredible spaces throughout the yacht to delight all the senses; from the baby grand Steinway, to the kaleidescape system, the aft folding swim platform providing incredible water access, to the enhanced safety, security and protective features, SEA OWL is an incredibly welcoming, wonderful, safe, and unique yacht. The custom 62m Feadship superyacht Sea Owl is a unique vessel created for experienced, family-oriented owners. Her exterior began on the drawing boards of Winch Design, painting a picture of a sophisticated existence which simultaneously offers a hidden world of adventure within.

Purpose-built to entertain a younger generation, Sea Owl offers a magical array of toys and games with thematic decorative schemes throughout. Hand carved wooden walls, crafted with incredible detail, offer games and discovery.

There are two dedicated children’s cabins on board Sea Owl, as well as the Owner’s stateroom and three guest suites. Besides its breathtakingly beautiful interior, the owners' vision for Sea Owl called for highly modern and complex technical specifications, including an extraordinarily sophisticated security system.

The combination of a jade-mist-green hull and an oyster-white superstructure is a theme that has been seen on the owners’ previous yachts, although never quite to this degree of intricacy.

Sea Owl,  built by Feadship 203 ft, (62 meter) late spring and summer means megayachts are making their to the Pacific Northwest, Alaska and the greater Seattle, lakes, bays and sounds region. Feadship built Sea Owl, is a glamorous and unique looking superyacht to hit Seattle WA Ship Canal at sunset after just entering Shilshole Bay, then clearing the Ballard Locks for a canal lift and on to a Ballard and Fremont Bridge lifts then up the canal eastbound to put the boat to bed on Lake Union, just at the tip of summer. By late June Sea Owl is outbound for a Ballard Locks drop back into the Puget Sound.

Sea Owl, is built by Dutch Builder Feadship, they handed possession over to the superyacht owner in 2013. Sea Owl is owned by Robert Mercer, at around 70 plus years young, he is known as a family man of priorities and inventor of computer scientist movements of Renaissance Technologies. Mercer is one of the top earning hedge fund managers. His massive manse in Long Island, New York is called Owl’s Nest. His custom hunter green hull superyacht and custom home follow in his ‘owl theme,’ with many custom features unique to only Mercer’s family.

Powered by twin MTU engines, she comfortably cruises at 15 knots, reaches a maximum speed of 16 knots with a range of up to 6,000 nautical miles from her 147,726 litre fuel tanks at 11 knots. Sea Owl features at-anchor stabilizers providing exceptional comfort levels.

Set against the backdrop of your chosen cruising ground, you and your guests can enjoy fun on the water with the collection of water toys and accessories aboard Sea Owl. Principle among these are towable toys offering fun and adventure. Additionally, there are waterskis that are hugely entertaining whether you are a beginner or a seasoned pro. Designer insights on just-launched 62m Feadship yacht Sea Owl

Feadship Royal Van Lent launched 62m superyacht Sea Owl . Her exterior and interior design is entirely by London-based Andrew Winch Designs, who has been working with the owner since 2005 and also designed the experienced owner’s previous yacht – a 43m Burger also named Sea Owl .

The first Winch-designed Sea Owl featured a green hull, and the new superyacht keeps this signature hull colour. Her exterior is highlighted in classical lines, stainless steel finishes and teak joinery.

According to Winch, the owner commissioned a new yacht tailored to the needs of his growing family, designed with relaxing and spacious accommodations. ' Sea Owl ’s magical interior is a treasure trove of beautiful detailing surprises that are sure to entertain all generations,' says Andrew Winch. 'A wealth of toys and games provide fun distractions for the younger guests whilst adults will appreciate the tailored general arrangement and extraordinarily detailed selection of hand carved pieces, sculptures, petrified wood items and marbles. Sea Owl has been a fantastically creative project to work on and one of which our studio is immensely proud.'

Anthony Sands of Edge Yachts has represented the Owner on this project from the early design phase. He confirmed that Sea Owl has been a challenging but highly rewarding project. 'We believe she is quite possibly the most customised 62-metre yacht ever built and is a true work of art in every respect.'

SEA OWL is a collaborative effort featuring the design talents of the Burger Design Team, Andrew Winch Design and Vripack. Exceptional interior and exterior spaces work together to create a custom yacht like no other and one that is sure to attract attention wherever she cruises.

Located forward on the main deck, the owner’s suite opens off a circular foyer into a private office area, then into the spacious stateroom, ensuite bath and large, walk-in closets. The room is finished in dark teak recessed wall paneling, distressed-teak flooring and custom area rugs designed especially for this space.

The main salon, dining area and sky lounge flow easily from one area to the other by way of a curved staircase, crowned with a skylight allowing sunlight to penetrate the center spaces of the vessel. The main stairwell handrail is made of woven leather with brushed nickel fittings, and at the top of the stairs is a custom etched glass balustrade. The leather's texture provides an elegant contrast to the satin finish of the dark teak wall panels.

Below the main deck are four large guest staterooms, each with walls of honey teak recessed wall paneling and oversized port lights, which allow for expansive views and sunlight-filled rooms. Each stateroom has an ensuite bath which has been individualized through the color of the exotic stone materials selected. The floors are accented with custom borders of intricately inlaid patterns of contrasting stone.

Exterior spaces aboard SEA OWL provide for formal alfresco dining on two separate decks around custom-designed and built 84" diameter tables. The upper deck features a hot tub and outdoor wicker sun lounges with individual canopies. There are several areas with built-in seating and sun pads for lounging, reading or watching TV.

The spacious crew accommodations are accented in the same naturally finished honey teak used in other areas of the vessel. The area includes a large lounge area and separate laundry facilities. Each of the four double crew staterooms includes an ensuite bath. A captain’s stateroom, finished in dark teak, is situated aft of the pilothouse and also includes an ensuite bath.

Redundant mechanical systems and reliable Caterpillar power provide SEA OWL a cruising speed of 14 knots.
