The best yacht charters in Singapore

Take in some sun, sea and sand onboard these best yacht charters in Singapore

Dewi Nurjuwita

Ocean lovers may only be able to explore Singapore's waters for now, but who says you're only limited to the beaches at Sentosa or East Coast Park? It's time to go forth and explore unchartered territory. Gather a few of your closest friends and head on to Singapore's offshore islands  – on private yachts. But hey, you don't have to be ballin' to go on a sunset sail. There are (relatively) affordable yacht charters you can hit up to make your wildest millionaire dreams come true.

Singapore Yacht Charters

Singapore is one of the most exciting cities to charter a luxury yacht in South East Asia and has become the superyacht hub of an increasingly popular Asia charter industry. Known for its cultural diversity and exceptional cuisine in the form of world-class restaurants and delicious street food, it fuses influences from China, India and Malaysia with modern Western commerce.  Singapore Island is surrounded by a huge scattering of islets and forms a perfect destination for cruising vacations and can accommodate all manner of requirements.

Singapore Luxury Yacht Charter Guide Home to prestigious events such as Formula One’s only night race, the Singapore Grand Prix and the annual Singapore Yacht Show, Singapore charter itineraries can include a wide range of activities and attractions. Dubbed as the Garden City of Asia, it is full of lush green forests and pristine parks including the new ‘Gardens by the Bay’, as well some beautiful beaches and of course über clean streets lined with chic boutiques, hotels, bars and some of the most iconic architecture in the world.

Renting a Private Yacht in Singapore Singapore features two major marinas, the award-winning One°15 Marina where the Singapore Yacht Show is held and the Marina at Keppel Bay which offers 300,000sq ft of berths to accommodate larger charter yachts. Weather conditions are warm and humid throughout the year with city temperatures hovering between 24˚C in the morning and reaching highs of 31˚C during the day. A Singapore cruising vacation can be enjoyed on its own or as part of a South East Asia charter itinerary to include other breath taking destinations such as Malaysia and Thailand.

On the other hand, if you have any specific food requests or allergies, just drop in a note alongside the inquiry.

Our staff will do the rest of the work, and you can relax, knowing that your meals are settled. Meanwhile, you can also bring food of your own if you prefer to. How many people can a yacht fit? It depends on the size of the yacht, and the number of people it can accommodate.

Yacht Rental and Yacht Charter in Singapore Logo

In 1969, land reclamation work to create 360 hectares of prime waterfront site began at Marina Bay. The reclaimed land forms what is today the Marina Centre and Marina South areas, and the reclamation work was completed in 1992. In the reclamation process, Telok Ayer Basin and Inner Roads was removed from the map by reclaiming land, while the Singapore River’s mouth now flows into the bay instead of directly into the sea.

In 1988, the draft plan for Marina Bay was presented to the public in a two-week exhibition where it set out the objectives for the development, among which are optimising the waterfront location and creating a distinctive image with international landmarks that could become a focal point for the city.

In 2008, Marina Barrage was built, converting the basin into a new downtown freshwater Marina Reservoir, providing water supply, flood control and a new lifestyle attraction.

The Formula One Singapore Grand Prix has taken place annually since 2008 on a street circuit adjacent to Marina Bay. Since its construction in 2007, The Float@Marina Bay has hosted events such as the National Day Parade, New Year’s Eve Countdown and Singapore Fireworks Celebrations, and also serves as a spectator stand for the Singapore Grand Prix. Furthermore, it also played host to the Opening and Closing Ceremonies of the inaugural 2010 Summer Youth Olympics.

The area also hosts the annual i Light Marina Bay, a sustainable light art festival.

The event space next to Marina Bay Sands, known as The Lawn, hosted the first overseas and Singapore edition of ArtBox Bangkok on two separate weekends.

Singapore Yachting Festival: Marinas in Asia filling up as industry demand grows

After a four-year hiatus, boat shows have returned to Singapore. Olivia Michel gets a feel for the Asian boating market at the Singapore Yachting Festival.

Singapore’s first yacht show since 2019 was a two-fold celebration. More than 55 yachts, 74 exhibitors and 9,000 visitors descended on Sentosa for the event, demonstrating the return of the country’s yachting scene. Though considerably smaller than Monaco, Cannes or Fort Lauderdale, the enthusiasm at the show was palpable.

10 Superyacht Concepts With Outrageous Features, From a 560-Foot Track to a Private Marina

Among the most outrageous yachts ever built, Sailing Yacht A and Yas are top of the list. The polarizing designs are defined by their exteriors— A for its fortress aesthetic and the former navy frigate Yas for its dolphin-like appearance. Love them or loathe them, they break from conventional yacht design and show what can be done with a little fresh thinking. That’s exactly what concepts are intended to do, and some of the world’s most outrageous examples take it to the extreme.

“Yacht concepts drive human evolution in maritime adventure,” says Micca Ferrero, owner of ICON Yachts . “It is one of the oldest and purest forms of work, as humans have been preparing to take to the sea for centuries in search of a better world. Each concept carries a small part of our future at sea.”

But the concepts have gone beyond simple sea vessels. From the Airyacht, with its detachable upper blimp structure, to U-Boat Worx’s Nautilus that can travel underwater at 10 knots, superyachts are no longer limited to the surface. Shape, size, amenities and propulsion are all up for grabs, and some of the most eyebrow-raising examples pave the way for the yachts of tomorrow.

Here are 10 of our favorite outrageous yacht concepts ever launched.

Pangeos — The World’s Largest Floating Structure

Italian design studio Lazzarini is known for its far-fetched ideas, which include a swan-shaped yacht and floating seaports. Pangeos is its interpretation of the world’s largest floating structure. The 1,800-foot-long “terayacht” (which also measures 2,000 feet across at its widest point) is named after Pangea, a supercontinent that existed 335 million years ago. This Pangea is estimated to accommodate 60,000 guests. The premise is an emissions-free city that can sail around the world. Designed in the shape of a giant turtle clad in solar panels, the concept includes multiple structures with a rooftop shopping mall, restaurants, and houses. There are also gardens, pools, and a large beach club, as well as helipads, hangars and marinas to store helicopters, toys, and tenders. Pangeos is powered by nine electric motors of 16,800 hp each, with the “wings” drawing more power from the waves and wind. Lazzarini estimates the build cost would be $8 billion.

VY.01 — Standout Feature: Indoor Garden

Gardens and superyachts don’t typically mix. It can be challenging to keep plants alive at sea since gardening requires substantial care and resources. But that didn’t stop German architects 3deluxe from penning VY.01 , a low carbon-emission superyacht concept with a greenhouse and vegetable garden. Billed as a “paradisiacal biotope,” the concept catamaran focuses on onboard self-sufficiency. In addition to a hydrogen fuel-cell system and electric propulsion, the vessel has solar panels on the rooftop to generate clean energy for the seawater desalination system that provides water for the plants. Other features include large deck spaces, open-plan living, a saltwater pool, and a mini marina for tenders and toys.

Domus — Standout Feature: An Experimental Open Plan Layout

This 131-foot-long solar sailing trimaran by Rob Doyle Design and Van Geest has 8,500 square feet of interior space, more than double the volume of other yachts with similar lengths. Domus , meaning a single-story home divided into two parts, is defined by a flat and wide superstructure, containing multiple guest areas that lead to a central atrium. The full-beam design is spread across two decks, with two owner’s suites that each have adjoining salons. There is also a cinema, gym, spa, and pool. When sailing, Domus will be able to heel at an angle of two degrees to reduce drag while also guaranteeing a comfortable guest experience with minimal rolling. It also uses a combination of solar power, hydro-regeneration technology, and hydrogen fuel cells for unlimited range and zero emissions. If that’s not enough, it’s fitted with a sail for extra wind power.

EXPV — Standout Feature: Floating Glass Walkway Connecting Two Deckhouses

Over the years, Feadship has developed engineered yacht concepts that not only bring something new to yacht design, but also are ready to be built. The 285-foot EXPV , which the Dutch yard developed in collaboration with British studio Harrison Eidsgaard, is an explorer with a difference. The vessel has two deckhouses connected by a suspended glass walkway that separates the private owner’s quarters from the guest areas. The full-beam owner’s apartment, measuring 44 feet across, has an observation room, a helideck, and a private foredeck sun lounge. The other six guest cabins face the sea. On the lower deck, the beach club has folding platforms on both sides, an indoor swimming pool, and a skylight. A tender deck is located directly below. The mast holds a two-person pod that travels above the radar domes for exceptional views. The yacht also has hybrid diesel-electric propulsion.

Cantharus — Standout Feature: Underwater Lounge

Cantharus is about being immersed in nature. American designer Darin Osborne’s Cantharus is a vessel with unrestricted views of the ocean, above and below deck, to encourage guests to be at one with their surroundings. The 226-foot concept has an underwater lounge and office amidship that converts into an owner’s cabin. The space holds a piano, formal dining table, and entertainment system. More panoramic vistas are on the upper bridge. On the main deck aft, there is a Jacuzzi that doubles as a stage, and a bar and DJ booth. At night, underwater lights illuminate the ocean, shining a spotlight on the behemoths of the deep.

Galileo² — Standout Feature: A Private Marina

Described as the “catamaran that costs $500 billion to build,” the 656-foot Galileo² stretches the imagination in all directions. German naval architects Beiderbeck Designs, whose most notable builds include the 305-foot Eos and 233-foot Skat , conceived the multihull during the pandemic. It was clearly ahead of its time. Equipped with a methanol powerplant, it also has a 19,000-nautical-mile range, a retractable restaurant, and a 262-foot pier for the 38 guests to take walks at sea. Along with 75 crew, the yacht has a private marina with 260 feet of dock space—enough for 25 boats, submersibles, and toys. Other key features include an outdoor cinema, a hospital, and an Olympic-sized swimming pool.

Phoenicia — Standout Feature: Articulated Helipad

Igor Lobanov’s sailing concept Phoenicia catches the eye with a reverse bow, a raised bowsprit, and an Arabian-inspired cutout on the superstructure that casts shadows across the yacht’s exterior decks. Even more dramatic are the masts on the main deck behind a glass-walled gallery. The yacht, a bridge between old and new, fuses a large traditional sail rig with an articulated helipad that unfolds from the roof of the owner’s suite. At night, 33 laser lights shine into the water, giving the impression that the yacht has two decks of oars.

Project L — Standout Feature: An Underwater Glass-Encased Owner’s Suite

French designer Thierry Gauguin is a long-time collaborator of Philippe Starck, with projects that include Venus , the 260-foot Feadship built for Steve Jobs. His ultra-modern 394-foot concept Project L is his first solo design. Conceived for long, oceangoing passages with diesel-electric propulsion, it is fitted out with a glass-encased underwater owner’s suite at the bow. The bullet-like exterior blends the naval architecture of a sailing vessel with motoryacht convenience. Outdoor deck areas are limited to the small sun deck and an extendable beach club at the stern, both of which have pools. Yet the design also includes a dinghy bay, a heliport, a car garage, and even an underwater escape pod for Bond-like exits.

Ocean Odyssey — Standout Feature: A 590-Foot Running Track

Penned by Italian designer Marco Casali as part of his 2020 “Owner for a Day” initiative, the 360-foot Ocean Odyssey is a floating hub of operations based on features requested by a yachting journalist. The vessel is defined by a two-level glass superstructure, which conceals a high-tech media center and a signature 590-foot running track. Its two-level stern works as a swimming pool (with lounges) on the upper-level beach club), as well as a private port to accommodate a custom 50-foot tender in a floating slip. More seating is found on the foredeck and bridge deck, while a helipad on the top deck allows for easy guest transfer anywhere in the world.

Protean 95 — Standout Feature: An Adaptive Platform

The 312-foot Protean 95 is all about flexibility. Designed by Dutch studio CBSPRO Maritime to meet a variety of owners’ needs, it can be used as a support vessel, an explorer yacht, or a mothership for sportfishing tournaments and sailing regattas. The hybrid electric yacht can also serve as a floating laboratory and research vessel for oceanographic expeditions, helped by its 8,000-nautical-mile range. The open aft deck is a multifaceted heli-facility that can accommodate an 18-passenger helicopter. It also has a helipad, under-deck equipment hangar, and refueling area, as well as space for a submersible, multiple tenders and other pleasure craft. Amenities for the 20 guests include a spa, gym, cinema, and pool.

Follow our news, recent searches, 'difficult to breathe': sentosa residents unwell from effects of oil spill; yacht companies predict losses, advertisement.

One yacht company says it expects to lose about S$3,200 in a day due to the oil spill.

SINGAPORE: The oil spill at Pasir Panjang Terminal  has had a wider impact beyond the blackened beaches, with some residents at Sentosa Cove forced to briefly vacate their homes on Saturday (Jun 15) due to the smell.

Yacht businesses have suffered losses, while tourists were left disappointed by the pollution.

The beaches of the island resort of Sentosa were among those hit by the oil slick, which was caused when a dredger hit a stationary bunker vessel at the port on Friday afternoon.

A section of East Coast Park and parts of Labrador Nature Reserve were closed until further notice for clean-up efforts.

Yacht businesses with boats berthed at Sentosa Cove said all their vessels had been unable to leave the marina since Saturday morning when the entrance was blocked off.

Speaking to CNA from the docks, employees said they were notified of the decision at about 11.45am.

An employee of YachtCruiseSG said the company cancelled four reservations on Saturday, with losses amounting to about S$800 (US$590) per reservation and around S$3,200 for the day.

The staff said the company has four more reservations on Sunday and two on Monday. More business could be lost as they are not sure when boats in the marina can go out to sea again.

CNA saw at least three groups of yacht owners or renters sitting in vessels at the marina, unable to go out to sea.

A group of five young adults said they had planned to go to St John’s Island for a short day trip, but these plans were canned due to the oil spill.

Sentosa Cove is also home to several condominiums. Some residents said they woke up to a pungent "kerosene" smell wafting into their apartments instead of the usual sea breeze.

“I felt as if someone was painting or washing something with a chemical product, then I realised when I looked into the ocean, that I saw a different colour,” said Sergio Abe, who stays in The Coast condominium.

The 44-year-old closed all his doors and windows and turned on the air conditioning, but the smell still lingered.

"It was a bit difficult to breathe in the morning," said Mr Abe, who said his six-year-old son also began to cough and feel dizzy.

As a precaution, the family travelled out of Sentosa to spend the rest of the morning at Orchard Road, away from the smell of the fumes.

It was an experience shared by Mr Brett Garrity, whose house is close to the sea.

“We woke up this morning and opened our doors and typically it’s just a nice breeze, but the pungent smell came through … it was pretty potent,” said the 39-year-old who works in the IT industry.

Like Mr Abe, he also left the island with his family for the rest of the morning as a precaution.

"It’s definitely not something you want your kids to be breathing in ... so I do hope that it gets cleaned up pretty quickly," said Mr Garrity, who has two sons aged nine months and three years old.

BEACHGOERS IRRITATED BUT MOST UNDETERRED

While Sentosa's beaches at Palawan, Siloso and Tanjong remain open to the public, swimming and sea activities were not allowed for the time being.

There were several cleaners plying Tanjong Beach with shovels and black garbage bags, dredging some of the oil and pollutants into the bags.

Mr Jeremy Teng, who was having a staycation at a Sentosa hotel, told CNA that he had gone to several beaches with his wife and three young children to assess the situation, before finding a spot a safe distance away from the water.

He said the smell was a health concern and that he may cut short his time at the beach.

"We were hoping to spend a bit more time at the beach, but it is out of our control,” said the 44-year-old HR manager.

His children were playing on the sand a distance away from the blackened waters, but Mr Teng said he had to explain why they couldn’t go near the water.

“When they could see the oil and the blackening of the water, they understood (why they can’t play),” he said.

Teacher Debbie Chew had travelled to the beach at about 11am to reserve a spot to play beach volleyball with her friends but was surprised by the pungent smell of the oil.

“There was a strong smell when I was on the tram (to the beach), and when I got here it was already barricaded, and I realised it was the smell coming from the petroleum,” said the 22-year-old.

She said they did not hesitate to continue playing and the stench eventually waned, although one of her friends went home early as he felt dizzy from the smell. They were also worried about the volleyball potentially rolling into the water.

Foreign visitors were also left disappointed.

German Stefan Schmidt was in Singapore for a work trip. He only had one free day to explore the city.

“I just looked at the map of Singapore, and thought that I could go to a beach just to explore a little bit,” said the 60-year-old physicist. “I didn’t expect it, but I guess not every day is like this.”

A group of Chinese tourists had their photo opportunity spoiled by the pollution.

“Tanjong Beach is a popular photo spot because Jay Chou had come here before, but because of this incident, there’s no way I can take any photos,” said 29-year-old tourist Gao Jia from Xinjiang, China.

“I was thinking, with the sunset, this place would look beautiful … now I just feel very disappointed,” she said in Mandarin.

IMPACT ON MARINE LIFE

Sentosa Development Corporation said earlier on Saturday that apart from cleaning up the beaches, it is also focusing on minimising the impact on its waters and surrounding wildlife.

Local conservation group Marine Stewards told CNA that the affected marine wildlife appeared to be mainly around the Southern Islands, although it is too early to see the full extent of the damage.

According to Marine Stewards founder Sue Ye, the group is aware of one kingfisher that has been rescued from Marina at Keppel Bay. Another kingfisher was seen covered in oil at Lazarus Island.

"We have also seen photos of dead fish, and otters covered in oil," she said.

The non-governmental organisation is helping to facilitate the rescue and rehabilitation of any affected marine wildlife together with Friends of Marine Park. ACRES is also ready to assist, said Ms Ye.

"It is still too early to see the full extent of the damage as different animals may be affected in different ways," she added.

"We do not know if all of the oil is getting adequately cleaned up, or how long that will take, as the oil spill covers a large area between Pasir Panjang all the way to East Coast Park. Cleaning up the oil may involve the introduction of even more chemicals into the water that could affect marine life."

Singapore authorities said that the oil spill from the vessel had been contained and there had been no further leak from the ship since Friday evening.

"The oil that escaped from the damaged tank had been treated by dispersants," they added.

"Close to 1,500 metres of container booms have been deployed and more will be laid over the next few days to prevent further spread of oil onto the shore, and facilitate the recovery of the trapped oil off the affected shorelines and lagoons to prevent them from going back to sea."

FBI: Ex-Detroit Riverfront CFO tried to sell secret yacht, Mexico condo. Judge freezes assets

  • Oops! Something went wrong. Please try again later. More content below

A judge has frozen up to $39 million in assets potentially held by the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy's ex-finance officer as newly unsealed court filings bring to light the extent of his lavish spending with allegedly stolen nonprofit funds, including on a condo in Mexico, a yacht, and multiple properties in Georgia, Texas and Michigan.

The restraining order issued by Judge Linda Parker on Monday came after federal authorities alleged in court filings that William Smith had begun selling or attempting to sell properties and other assets since coming under investigation for alleged embezzlement. He was charged earlier this month with wire and bank fraud stemming from an alleged 12-year scheme that went undetected by the well-financed nonprofit governed by some of the region’s top business, philanthropic and civic leaders.

"The Government has a strong likelihood of establishing by a preponderance of the evidence that (Smith) is alienating or disposing of property, and intends to alienate or dispose of property ... including transferring assets to family members or his corporate entities for nominal amounts, and attempting to sell real estate and his yacht to third parties," Parker's order states. "There is a strong likelihood of irreparable injury to Smith’s victims, including the Conservancy, Comerica Bank, and the Conservancy’s donors and financial partners, unless this order is issued."

The Conservancy has said it's exploring avenues to recoup the nearly $40 million Smith is accused of stealing from the organization from November 2012 through March 2024. It applauded Parker's decision in a Monday statement.

“We are thankful for the swift action taken by the government and law enforcement to retrieve the money stolen from the Conservancy,” said Matt Cullen, Board Chair of the Detroit Riverfront Conservancy. “This is a crucial step in ensuring that no one will get away with stealing from the Conservancy and the people of Detroit."

The filings unsealed Monday signal additional charges, including money laundering, are possible for Smith, as the investigation continues.

"It appears that Smith has used the millions he defrauded from the Conservancy and Citizens Bank — along with a more limited amount of his own funds — to amass and/or improve a substantial amount of real property in the states of Michigan (including Northville, Redford, Detroit and Idlewild), Texas, Georgia, and the country of Mexico," Special FBI agent Timothy Hoff writes in an affidavit unsealed Monday, adding: "His efforts are facilitated by numerous LLCs under his direction and control."

Hoff went on to state: "Smith's fraud scheme .... involved electronic transfers of approximately $39.3 million ... Those allegations will not be repeated here, other than to summarize the high likelihood of multiple money laundering violations."

The U.S. Attorney's Office declined to comment on the new filings. Smith's lawyer, Gerald Evelyn, did not return calls for comment.

According to the government, Smith used his job with the conservancy to line is own pockets for more than a decade, allegedly using stolen nonprofit funds to pay for — among other things — interior design renovations, airline tickets, hotels, limousines, household goods, lawn care, clothing and jewelry. That includes allegedly spending Conservancy funds to pay nearly $15 million in American Express credit card bills for himself and his family members.

And he was careful not to get caught, the government alleges.

"Smith appears to have knowingly conducted transactions using the proceeds of his fraud in transactions designed to conceal the nature, location, source, ownership and control of those proceeds," the affidavit states.

The government says this is how Smith moved money around:

The affidavit states, on Sept. 1, 2016, Smith wired $85,000 in Conservancy funds to The Joseph Group. The next day, he transferred $65,000 from The Joseph Group account to another account.

"Based upon my training and experience, I know that the movement of funds obtained from unlawful activity through multiple accounts is a technique used in money laundering," Hoff writes.

FBI: Smith hiding assets

According to the latest filing, Smith had notice that he was being investigated months ago, when the Conservancy became concerned about bookkeeping and requested additional explanations of sources and uses of Conservancy funds from Smith. Before the federal government even became involved, the FBI says, Smith was told that the case was being referred to law enforcement.

But the FBI says it would soon learn that Smith was engaging "in an ongoing effort to transfer assets that would otherwise be available to repay his victims."

For example, the FBI says it discovered a nearly $800,000 home in Atlanta that Smith controls. He bought the home in 2020 for $665,000 and transferred the property by quit claim deed to YBE Investments, LLC, an entity under his control.

According to a Zillow listing, the house has been listed for sale since May 28, less than two weeks after Smith was placed on unpaid leave.

A condo in Mexico, and a 36-foot yacht

According to the government, Smith also appears to control a two-bedroom, two-bathroom condo in Mexico currently listed for sale. A document dated Nov. 3, 2021, located in Smith’s office at the Conservancy, shows Smith, on behalf of Alter Ego Properties, granting a power of attorney to an individual tied to a condo unit in Los Cabos, Baja California Sur, Mexico.

As of June 21, the condo was listed for sale for $385,000, according to a public website.

While investigating Smith, the FBI says it also discovered that Smith owns a 36-foot yacht and is trying to sell it. It's a 2021, Cruiser 35 Express named the "SS Duo." According to the FBI, Michigan records show that Smith purchased the yacht on May 21, 2021.

On June 6, the FBI made contact with the attorney for the entity that originally sold the boat to Smith, who advised that the for-sale listing had recently expired, but that it would not be extended because of the notoriety related to Smith. The vessel was listed for sale during the period that Smith was notified that he was under investigation.

Similar yachts appear to be listed for sale online at prices ranging from $300,000 to $375,000. The yacht is believed to be dry-docked at a metro Detroit marina.

The FBI questioned how Smith could afford such luxuries, noting in its filing:

"Given that Smith obtained $39.3 million in fraud proceeds over 12 years, while making less than $3 million total in that timeframe from his Conservancy salary, and his pattern of transferring criminal proceeds to LLCs in his control or spending them on his own pursuits, the United States alleges that Smith obtained or improved the great majority of his numerous assets with fraud proceeds."

"This is particularly obvious in the case of the Georgia home, the Mexico condo, and the Cruisers 35 Express yacht, in that these are high-value luxury assets purchased during the fraud period."

Meanwhile, the government is hoping to stop Smith from selling his Georgia home, condo in Mexico and yacht, arguing they were bought with illegal proceeds, so any money derived from their sale would be considered illegal.

The government also is scrutinizing Smith's recent transfer of his marital home.

According to court records, in May, Smith purported to transfer his longtime marital residence in Redford. Although not currently his primary residence, Smith has owned the home since 2003 with his wife, Kimberly Smith, via warranty deed. But on May 6, Smith and his wife purported to transfer the property by quit claim deed to Ross Drive, LLC, for $10.

The deed lists Kimberly Smith as the “Sole Member” of Ross Drive LLC. The mailing address for Ross Drive LLC is the same UPS store mailbox used by William Smith’s other entities.

The government also cites Smith's recent transfer of various Detroit properties.

For example, on April 23, Smith purported to transfer property on Biltmore Street in Detroit from “William Anthony Smith” to “William Smith III” for the sum of $10 by quit claim deed. Public real estate websites estimate the true value of the home between $93,600 and $114,000.

That quit claim deed was recorded May 21 — four days after the Conservancy placed Smith on unpaid leave.

Greek yacht crew charged for arson on Hydra island

yacht marina singapore

ATHENS - A Greek prosecutor on June 23 charged 13 crew members of a yacht with arson after fireworks launched from the vessel allegedly sparked a forest fire on the island of Hydra, the semi-official Athens News Agency (ANA) said.

The crew, all Greeks, were arrested on June 22 at an Athens area marina after allegations that they started the forest fire late on June 21.

"The crew and the captain will respond to the charges before an investigator on Wednesday," ANA news agency said.

All crew members denied the charges, Greek media reported on June 23. The yacht, which was chartered by foreign tourists, was seized by the Greek authorities.

Civil protection minister Vassilis Kikilias told Open TV on June 23 there were witness accounts that they burned part of the forest on the island.

Hydra, southwest of Athens in the Saronic Gulf, is popular with foreign visitors and people travelling on yachts.

The firefighters brought the blaze, which burned part of the island's only pine forest, under control early on June 22. REUTERS
