Clipper Stad Amsterdam Hong Kong 2024: Registration, dates, open hours, and more

Here's how you can visit the magnificent 19th century-inspired clipper ship

It's an exciting time in Hong Kong's harbour! Just about a month after the Doulos Hope floating book exhibition ship departed Hong Kong, another remarkable vessel is making its way to our shores – and this one is a real showstopper. Named the Clipper Stad Amsterdam, this magnificent 19th-century-inspired clipper will be docking in Hong Kong, where folks will have a chance to board the world-touring ship and explore it completely for free! Read on to find out how you can get in on the action.

When is the Clipper Stad Amsterdam coming to Hong Kong?

The magnificent Dutch sailing ship will be docking in Hong Kong soon, with guided tours running from June 28 to July 2 – just in time for the July 1 long weekend.

Where will the Clipper Stad Amsterdam be located in Hong Kong?

The Clipper Stad Amsterdam will be moored at Central Pier No. 9 for the duration of its public tours.

How to register to visit the Clipper Stad Amsterdam in Hong Kong?

To reserve your spot on the 45-minute guided tour of the Clipper Stad Amsterdam, head to the Hong Kong Maritime Museum website  and make a reservation from now to June 25. Spots are limited and registration will be processed on a first-come, first-served basis – so be sure to book early. Each person can only register for one session and those who have successfully applied will receive a confirmation on or before June 27.

During the guided tour, you'll get an up-close look at this modern sailing marvel. The crew will take you through the ship, revealing its stunning 19th-century-inspired design and impressive sustainable technologies. It's a rare opportunity to step back in time and experience the glory of classic seafaring.

Measuring 76 metres long and boasting 31 sails with a total area of 2,200sq m, the Clipper Stad Amsterdam is a true sight to behold. Woman is killed after falling off boat, hit by another boat

PORTLAND, Ore. ( KPTV /Gray News) – A woman died after falling from a boat into a river in Portland, Oregon on Saturday, according to the Multnomah County Sheriff’s Office.

Deputies and firefighters were called just after 8 p.m. to respond to reports of a person unconscious in the water.

The caller told authorities they had seen the woman fall off a boat and then get hit by another boat while she was in the water.

Officials said the woman was taken to the hospital, where she was declared dead.

No other information is available at this time.

BOSTON – The Celtics are NBA champions , and Friday they  celebrated throughout the streets of Boston with a duck boat parade.

A celebration that is not open to fans took place inside TD Garden to start the day.

The parade began around 11:15 a.m. turning onto Causeway Street. The Celtics continued past City Hall Plaza while also rolling by Boston Common on Tremont Street.

Players, coaches and other guests on the duck boats made their way to the conclusion of the parade route on Boylston Street near Hynes Convention Center.

Massachusetts Gov. Maura Healey began the TD Garden pre-parade festivities.

"Thank you for honoring the Celtics tradition. For this team in particular, we are in love with this team. Because it is a team and they have given us so much," Healey said after taking the microphone. "Today we're going to party and celebrate the Boston Celtics."

Boston Mayor Michelle Wu said Celtics ownership is "reminding the world that bold leadership pays off."

"This was a team willing to face challenging decision, face the non-believers, and work together to build something extraordinary. As a result, Boston is home to the undisputed greatest team in the NBA," Wu said.

Celtics veteran Al Horford paid tribute to another champion . He wore a t-shirt with a photo of an intoxicated Tom Brady celebrating his seventh Super Bowl win. Jaylen Brown, meanwhile, wore a shirt highlighting his response to criticism from an ESPN show.

DUBAI, United Arab Emirates — An attack by Yemen’s Houthi rebels targeted a commercial ship traveling through the Gulf of Aden but apparently caused no damage, authorities said Saturday, in the latest strike on the shipping lane by the group.

The Houthi attack comes after  the sinking this week of the ship Tutor , which marked what appears to be a new escalation by the Iranian-backed Houthis in their campaign of strikes on ships in the vital maritime corridor over the  Israel-Hamas war in the Gaza Strip .

Meanwhile, the U.S. military ordered  the USS Dwight D. Eisenhower , the aircraft carrier leading America’s response to the Houthi attacks, to return home after a twice-extended tour.

The captain of the ship targeted late Friday saw “explosions in the vicinity of the vessel,” the British military’s United Kingdom Maritime Trade Operations center said. A later briefing by the U.S.-overseen Joint Maritime Information Center said the vessel initially reported two explosions off its port side and a third one later.

“The vessel was not hit and sustained no damage,” the center said. “The vessel and crew are reported to be safe and are proceeding to their next port of call.”

The Houthis, who have held Yemen’s capital, Sanaa, since 2014, claimed the attack Saturday night. Brig. Gen. Yahya Saree, a Houthi military spokesman, identified the vessel targeted as the bulk carrier Transworld Navigator.

The  Houthis have launched more than 60 attacks  targeting specific vessels and fired off other missiles and drones in their campaign that has killed a total of four sailors. They have seized one vessel and sunk two since November. A U.S.-led airstrike campaign has targeted the Houthis since January, with  a series of strikes May 30  killing at least 16 people and wounding 42 others, the rebels say.

In March,  the Belize-flagged Rubymar carrying fertilizer became the first to sink in the Red Sea  after taking on water for days following a rebel attack.

The Houthis have maintained that their attacks target ships linked to Israel, the United States or Britain. However, many of the ships attacked have little or no connection to the Israel-Hamas war.

The  Eisenhower , based in Norfolk, Virginia, is returning home after  an over eight-month deployment  in combat that the Navy says is  its most intense since World War II . The San Diego-based  USS Theodore Roosevelt  will take the Eisenhower’s place after a scheduled exercise in the Indo-Pacific, according to the Pentagon’s press secretary, Maj. Gen. Pat Ryder.

The Roosevelt anchored Saturday in Busan, South Korea, amid Seoul’s ongoing tensions with North Korea .

The Eisenhower had already reached the Mediterranean Sea, said a U.S. official, who spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss ship movements. Flight-tracking data analyzed by The Associated Press showed a Sikorsky MH-60R Seahawk helicopter associated with the Eisenhower flying above the Mediterranean just off the coast of Port Said, Egypt, on Saturday night.

The Eisenhower had repeatedly been targeted by false attack claims by the Houthis during its time in the Red Sea. Saree on Saturday night claimed another attack on the carrier — but again provided no evidence to support it as the ship already had left the area.
