History of CNB Yachts

CNB is one of the oldest French shipyards, located on the French Riviera. It was started in 1885 as a family-run business by Paul Auguste Pailleron. In 1992, CNB celebrated its 100-year anniversary with the launch of its successful 77 series cruisers.

Its shipyards currently produce sailing yachts from 78 to 88 feet. Its signature designs, the CNB 66 and the CNB 77, feature naval architecture and exterior lines developed by Philippe Briand and an interior design by AYTECH Architects. CNB also specializes in custom-made vessels. Its world-renowned yachts have earned awards and accolades, having won five World Superyacht Awards to date.

CNB is now part of the Solaris Yachts Group a boat manufacturer, providing CNB with increased design and manufacturing capabilities. Since its foundation, CNB continues to leverage traditional craftsmanship, modern design, and cutting-edge technology to bring exceptional boats to the market.

The interior accommodates 3 cabins in the forward area, including a spacious owner’s cabin. The aft area, dedicated to the crew, has direct access to the galley. The saloon is raised to make room for a central engine room, and commands a wide view of the exterior.

The CNB 76 KESTREL was designed and classed for ocean-going cruising and performance. Naval architect Briand is known for penning performance sailboat designs. KESTREL’s GRP hull with carbon mast and boom and draft under 10’ further contributes to her exceptional level of overall performance. This CNB model was nominated for Best Sailing Yacht under 40 meters at the 2017 International Yacht & Aviation Awards.

KESTREL’s deck spaces are clean, uncluttered and easy for guests to move about. The on-deck cockpit features twin helms aft and spacious settees forward situated on either side. The portside dining table can convert into a large daybed for lounging under the Bimini cover, perfect for enjoying days spent onboard. From the cockpit, guests will enter the raised saloon. The space is filled with natural light with a dining area to port. The large dining table can be configured as two cocktail tables when desired. A navigation station and lounge area sit on the other side. Two cozy lounge chairs face each other and can swivel to create a small sofa facing the dining area. KESTREL’s styling is modern, offering a warm and welcoming ambiance with a monochromatic light-filled interior punctuated with color and texture. Flexibility is a considerable factor seen throughout KESTREL, from the adjustable dining table in the saloon to the portside guest cabin’s convertible beds.

The sailing yacht comfortably welcomes six guests in three cabins. Moving forward and down a few steps is a VIP cabin to port with a convertible double bed or twin beds arrangement. To starboard is a cabin with bunk beds. The full-beam master cabin is forward with a forward-facing centerline queen bed. Ensuite bathrooms accompany each stateroom for optimal privacy and convenience. The starboard guest ensuite bathroom also serves as a “day head.” Aft of the main saloon and down a few steps is a large galley and crew mess to starboard and a spacious Captain’s cabin to port. This guest forward/crew aft separation is an attribute for the size of the boat.

KESTREL’s exterior is sleek, gracefully incorporating a raised saloon, and boasts a modern plumb bow. The transom opens to be used as a platform for water access or for embarking and disembarking from the tender. The space under the aft deck is utilized as a tender garage instead of carrying the tender on deck. Since her deck is all one level, movement from twin helms to the cockpit and forward is easy. Kestrel’s deck layout is designed so that entry into the saloon from the cockpit is offset to starboard, which creates undisturbed dining or lounging to port.

Kestrel accommodates 6 guests in 3 staterooms forward plus 2 crew in aft captain’s cabin. There is one extra crew cabin in the fore peak with single bed, toilet and sink, and air-conditioning. Guest staterooms are comprised of 1 centerline Queen in the Master full-width stateroom forward, 1 double VIP port which converts to a twin stateroom; and 1 stateroom starboard with bunk beds. All staterooms have ensuite heads with stall showers and Vacuflush fresh water toilets.

Walkthrough

The cockpit has twin helms aft. Going forward is space before arriving to the cockpit. Ample settees are on each side; the portside dining table can telescope down to become a large daybed for lounging. From the cockpit one enters the light-filled deck saloon with a dining area to port. The large dining table can be configured as two cocktail tables. On the other side are a nav station and lounge area. Here two large chairs facing each other can swivel and connect to become a sofa facing the dining area. Down a few steps forward is a VIP to port with convertible double bed or twin beds arrangement, while on the other side is a stateroom with bunk beds. The master cabin is forward with a centerline queen bed facing forward. Heads are ensuite to each stateroom; the starboard stateroom head can also act as a day head. Aft of the raised saloon, down a few steps, is a large galley/crew mess to starboard and on the other side is a very spacious captain’s cabin with ensuite head for two crew. Engine room is in the center of the boat. An aft garage houses the tender.

DESCRIPTION

SAVARONA, a performance world cruiser, was designed by naval architect Philippe Cabon and Frank Darnet (interior) and custom built in aluminum, by the French yard Construction Navale Bordeaux.

SAVARONA has been on a proper refit schedule since new. Her first in 2006, the second in 2010, and the major refit completed in 2015 when hauled at the Gino Yard in Marmaris, Turkey. Shortly before, in August 2014, she had been hauled in Palm Beach f28 or a hull survey and inspection by Patton Marine, one of the best marine survey companies in the world.

SAVARONA has now completed an extensive refit, done by an experienced owner who is unable to do something “good enough”, it has to be done the right way. His project manager, also a marine surveyor himself, was on site for the entire project. The result is an absolutely stunning yacht that is better than new, with $1.5M invested. Not only was SAVARONA fully repainted, mast-boom-hull-superstructure, but also new 16 mm Burma teak decks and caprail was laid, with new teak added to the coachroof well. Deck hardware is all new black anodized Lewmar, interior varnishing and refurbishing with high quality fabrics, but the real story is under the floorboards and behind the cabinetry. Virtually every system has been serviced/replaced or modified, so that her planned charter activity would not have any interruptions. Her new owner has the choice of using her as a private yacht or continue with the charter operation, complete with web site.

Her twin cockpit layout is perfect for guests and crew. The center cockpit area has a rounded settee with a good size table for dining, which was just custom designed and built with an ice bucket and wired Bluetooth linked to the yacht’s stereo system. The aft steering/crew cockpit, also has comfortable rounded seating area, with steering and navigation completely separate. And as the owner needs to run his business while cruising, she has full Internet connectivity and communication from anywhere in the world.

SAVARONA had a beautiful Atlantic crossing in 2017. She sailed 4,009 miles with an average speed of 9.2 knots (her owner now has over 8,000 miles on board her).
