Grand Banks 44 Eastbay

Grand banks Grand Banks 44 Eastbay

G rand Banks has been building classic cruisers for more than 60 years, and in that time we’ve learned a thing or two about crafting the ideal cruiser. The Eastbay 44 is the sleek, modernized evolution of our classic downeast line, which has everything you need—and nothing you don’t. Clean, classic lines are accentuated by the beautiful teak interior and impeccable craftsmanship of the three-stateroom layout. Overnight accommodations for 6 people and entertaining space for more make the EB44 the ideal family cruiser. The wide, full-beam salon and cockpit feature large electric windows that invite in cool summer breezes, and a traditional deep-v hull achieves a fast, smooth and dry ride that also allows for tight maneuverability, making docking a dream.

SPECIFICATIONS

“The 44 came through with flying colors, thanks not only to her perfectly balanced, true tracking, full-keeled, deep-V hull form, but also to the exceptionally responsive electric steering” Power & MotorYacht: Command Performance, the new EB44

“What makes this new Eastbay an ideal near-coastal explorer? Start with her performance and ride. She’s a true adventurer, and a good-looking one at that.” Soundings reviews the Eastbay 44 (PDF)

More About the Grand Banks 44 Eastbay

“What makes this new Eastbay an ideal near-coastal explorer? Start with her performance and ride. Owners can cruise for out in the Bahamas or up the Inside Passage at 20-plus knots. Speed allows you to rn from poor weather, and to go beyond the beaten path in less time. This adventure yacht hits 42.7 knots wide open, and at a cruising speed of 22 knots, the Eastbay has a range of 433 nautical miles with a 10 percent reserve. Bump her down to 17.5 knots, and your range climbs to about 475 nautical miles. No worries if you run into some challenging seas. The 44 Eastbay SX rides a deep-vee C. Raymond Hunt-designed hull.

She’s built with high-end materials – the latest Eglass vinylester and epoxy resins, stitched multitaxial fabrics and lightweight linear foam. The light yet strong construction gives her longer legs and solid fuel efficiency.”

Grand banks history committed to quality.

Founded in 1956, Grand Banks Yachts first gained recognition for their classic wooden boats, which were known for their elegant lines, comfortable interiors, and seaworthiness. The company's wooden boats were built to last, and many of them are still sailing today, a testament to the company's commitment to quality. In the 1970s, Grand Banks Yachts shifted to producing fiberglass models, which enabled them to offer a wider range of designs and sizes. Today, the company produces both fiberglass and aluminum models, ranging from 43 to 85 feet in length.

Despite the shift to new materials, Grand Banks Yachts has retained its commitment to traditional boatbuilding techniques and quality. Each yacht is hand-built by skilled craftsmen, who take pride in their work and pay attention to every detail. From the woodwork to the wiring, every aspect of the boat is meticulously crafted and inspected to ensure that it meets the company's exacting standards.

Popular Grand Banks Models

Grand Banks has been building yachts for over 60 years and in this time has offered many different models ranging in size from 36 to 85 feet. Their current lineup of new yachts consists of the Grand Banks 54, 60, and 85, as well as the Eastbay 44 and 60. There are also several models that have been discontinued but are still very popular on the pre-owned brokerage market.

Grand Banks 85

The GB85 is the largest yacht built by Grand Banks, and an amazingly fuel-efficient vessel. She combines sophistication, practicality, modernization, and luxury altogether for a phenomenal yachting experience enjoyed by all. By utilizing the most advanced construction techniques they have created a vessel that is lighter and travels longer while maintaining the build quality and comfort that makes Grand Banks highly desirable.

Grand Banks 60

The GB60 was launched by Grand Banks in 2016 and is a revered member to what is a fantastic lineage of long-distance cruising vessels. She provides a spectacular showcase of what sets Grand Banks apart from the rest of the cruising world. At the first glance you will stop and stare at the beauty of her distinct lines and V-Warp hull. Featuring a combination of high tech and high style, she provides a world of luxury and state-of-the-art technology in concert. With the ability to cover over 200 nautical miles at 10 knots she makes long range cruising a breeze.

Grand Banks 54

The GB54 follows suit of its predecessor and bigger sister, the GB60. Launched in Spring 2020, she has already made quite a splash in her first few years. She provides another iteration of a fantastic combination of luxury, performance, practicality, and efficiency. The commitment that Grand Banks makes to quality construction and the highest standards is very much evident in the GB54, which cruises comfortably and won’t shake or rattle even when the seas are rolling.

Giving life back to downeast style yachts and reinvigorating the spirit of yachting, the EB 60 is the flagship of the Eastbay line by Grand Banks. With cruising capability and top of the line amenities, she relishes the effort put forth by the competition. Eastbay owners past, present, and future will be proud of the direction Grand Banks has gone with this line.

The Eastbay 54 was quite the spectacle in her prime, being one of the most highly regarded downeast express yachts in her class with a deep-vee hull, substantial weight, and Grand Banks high quality build standards combined with Ray Hunt's fantastic design.

The predecessor to the 54, the Eastbay 49 set the standard for the Downeast style yacht. She offered a combination of seaworthiness, comfort, performance, and style that could not be matched by any other manufacturer.

Continuing with the quality and craftsmanship of Grand Banks, the Eastbay 46 brought an elegant and sporty component to the Eastbay brand. Veering away from the direct drive and towards the pod drive system which, at the time, was a new and innovative approach to enhancing maneuverability and performance. The 46 continues to be a popular and respected yacht on the pre-owned brokerage market.

The EB44 is a perfect combination of traditional and modern from bow to stern. Launched in 2015, she has been turning heads ever since. She presents a wonderful rush at a cruising speed of 25 knots and top speed of 33 knots, all while still maintaining that amazing fuel efficiency due to the construction materials and design that all Grand Banks models are known for.

Grand Banks‘s New 68-Foot Flagship Blends Classic Retro Looks With Modern Tech

The new yacht looks like a conventional downeast cruiser until you peel away the technology in the carbon-fiber layup and fuel-sipping engines., kevin koenig, kevin koenig's most recent stories, open space, eco-friendly tech: what a rising class of millennial superyacht owners are looking for, ‘people don’t want to be inside’: how the outdoors became yachtmakers’ most coveted design element.

The Eastbay 60 is the new flagship of the Grand Banks Eastbay line.

The performance edge comes from combining its V-Warp hull, which Eastbay says delivers a smoother ride and more efficiency than a traditional planing hull, and the all-carbon-fiber superstructure. The carbon fiber’s lower weight offers a big advantage over a typical fiberglass lay-up. Its automatically pushes up performance (and fuel efficiency) while also creating a stiffer running surface. The design team also shifted the 60’s center of gravity lower to help keep the boat stable when the weather gets rough.

The 60 is designed for three-season cruising, with a relatively small cockpit aft and a sunbed and forward lounge on the long forepeak. Except for cocktail hour and the occasional sunning session, the place to hang will be the interior, which combines retro-sailing influences with modern features. Lots of teak and white upholstery in the salon create a clean, timeless look, with multiple areas for socializing. The large, opening sunroof on the first 60 launched also adds another way to lighten and freshen up this main gathering point.

The Eastbay 60 is the new flagship of the Grand Banks Eastbay line.

Probably one of the most impressive areas is the one that’s most hidden. Thanks to the boat’s 19-foot beam, the engine room has a generous layout with excellent working space. Besides the twin Volvo Penta IPS1200s,  owners can also opt for the lower 750 hp IPS950s, or if the owner doesn’t want pod drives, a conventional shaft is also an option.

Beyond the engines, the 60’s layout is customizable. There are options for three or four staterooms, and depending on choice, the galley can either be positioned in the aft part of the main salon or below-decks with the accommodations. Either configuration includes a full-beam main suite forward and double VIP cabin (though the suite shifts sides of the boat, depending on galley choice). Eastbay’s ability to customize is one of its strong suits in the small but competitive Downeast niche.

The Eastbay 60 carries a base price of $4.1 million.
