The Omega 46 is one of the most beautiful yachts on the water, and this highly detailed large scale model with its' glossy red and black hull exemplify the look for any sailing fan or water enthusiast!

The spacious interior has two large double rooms, one in the front, and one in the rear. Master craftsmen handcraft these highly detailed wood models from scratch using historical photographs, drawings and original plan. They are built to scale with high-grade wood such as: western red cedar, rosewood, and mahogany. They are 100% hand built individually using plank-on-frame construction method and are similar to the building of actual ships. Each model requires hundreds of hours to finish and must go through a demanding quality control process before leaving the workshop. The Omega 46’s hull is painted beautifully in red and green with white waterline. The mast and boom are painted in silver. The sails are meticulously stitched that extends all the way to the masthead. The model exhibits a double-deck made out of wood from the inside cabin to the gunwale. Metal stanchions hold up the guardrails in place around the deck. There are also numerous details on the deck such as hatches, winches, metal steering wheel, cabin and companion way.

The Omega 46 is a Swedish sailboat , that was designed by Ron Holland and first built in 2001. The yacht is a high quality blue water cruiser with classic lines. [1]

Omega 46 has a spacious cockpit , self tacking jib and a fold down bathing platform. Omega 46 was buit in high quality by Techno Yacht in Sweden. In the same company also Malö Yachts, Sweden Yachts och Farr Yachts where built. [2] The production of Omega 46 was terminated in 2004 but reinitiated under the name M-Yachts M46 that is still produced. [3]

Seller's Description

Offered by her second owner and one of only eight ever made is this beautiful custom OMEGA 46 designed by Ron Holland and built by Techno Yachts Ab in Orust, Sweden, well-known home of Malo, Hallberg Rassy, and similar high quality vessels.

A fast and close-winded ocean passage bluewater cruiser with a transatlantic crossing in her log book, the boat is equally at home sailing shorthanded in the shallower bays or gunkholes of the Chesapeake or Caribbean.

The spacious and attractive interior is built in mahogany, with Corian countertops in the extensive U-shaped galley.

For accommodations, the Starboard settee folds out to a double berth to complement the vee berth cabin forward, and the aft quarter cabin.

The electronic package includes Raymarine ST60 instruments, Standard Horizon and Furuno GPSs, AIS, Icom SSB HF transceiver, EPIRB and more.

LED lights are throughout, including nav lights, plenty of power reserves with 7 AGM batteries totaling 840 amp hours, an inverter, and solar panels.

Tankage, storage and refrigerated ice box are ample, and equipped with a 1.5 GPH Katadyne desalinator as well.

The rudder and post are of carbon fiber, teak decks, Selden mast, 5 manual winches and one electric for the main halyard, UK tape drive mainsail and three headsails, this boat is fully equipped and ready for an offshore adventure anywhere an experienced and competent captain might choose to venture.

Rig and Sails

Auxilary power, accomodations, calculations.

The theoretical maximum speed that a displacement hull can move efficiently through the water is determined by it's waterline length and displacement. It may be unable to reach this speed if the boat is underpowered or heavily loaded, though it may exceed this speed given enough power. Read more.

Classic hull speed formula:

Hull Speed = 1.34 x √LWL

Max Speed/Length ratio = 8.26 ÷ Displacement/Length ratio .311 Hull Speed = Max Speed/Length ratio x √LWL

Sail Area / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the power of the sails relative to the weight of the boat. The higher the number, the higher the performance, but the harder the boat will be to handle. This ratio is a "non-dimensional" value that facilitates comparisons between boats of different types and sizes. Read more.

SA/D = SA ÷ (D ÷ 64) 2/3

• SA : Sail area in square feet, derived by adding the mainsail area to 100% of the foretriangle area (the lateral area above the deck between the mast and the forestay).
• D : Displacement in pounds.

Ballast / Displacement Ratio

A measure of the stability of a boat's hull that suggests how well a monohull will stand up to its sails. The ballast displacement ratio indicates how much of the weight of a boat is placed for maximum stability against capsizing and is an indicator of stiffness and resistance to capsize.

Ballast / Displacement * 100

Displacement / Length Ratio

A measure of the weight of the boat relative to it's length at the waterline. The higher a boat’s D/L ratio, the more easily it will carry a load and the more comfortable its motion will be. The lower a boat's ratio is, the less power it takes to drive the boat to its nominal hull speed or beyond. Read more.

D/L = (D ÷ 2240) ÷ (0.01 x LWL)³

• D: Displacement of the boat in pounds.
• LWL: Waterline length in feet

Comfort Ratio

This ratio assess how quickly and abruptly a boat’s hull reacts to waves in a significant seaway, these being the elements of a boat’s motion most likely to cause seasickness. Read more.

Comfort ratio = D ÷ (.65 x (.7 LWL + .3 LOA) x Beam 1.33 )

Light assembly needed

This Omega 46 is one of the most beautiful yachts on the water. Classic looks combined with the most modern techniques. Designed by Ron Holland, build by Omega in Sweden. It has beautiful teak decks and cockpit, very spacious cockpit benches, superb lines and the best quality in finish and detail. Equipped options included an electric winch in the cockpit for setting the mainsail, a bow thruster for extra comfort in the harbor and an electric anchorwinch with extra controls at the helm. The magnificent and very spacious interior has 2 large double rooms, one in the bow, and one in the stern. The enormous galley has a fridge and a freezer. The salon is very comfortable with beautiful upholstery.
