Seawind’ler İzmir’de üretilecek

Yeni bir üretim üssü ve büyük bir servis merkezi kurarak Avrupa pazarına doğrudan açılmayı planlayan Avustralyalı ünlü katamaran üreticisi Seawind, bu hayalini İzmir’de gerçekleştiriyor. Seawind Türkiye Üretim Tesisi ve Avrupa Servis Merkezi olarak hizmet verecek tersanede markanın yeni katamaranı 1170 üretilecek.  

Bundan 40 yıl önce, kendisi de deneyimli bir yelkenci olan Richard Ward tarafından kurulan Seawind, hafif kompozit yapıya sahip, gezi/performans sınıfı yelkenli katamaranlarıyla adını duyurmuş başarılı bir firma. 

2010 yılına kadar Avustralya’da Seawind markalı katamaranları ürettikten sonra, 2010 yılı itibarıyla Vietnam’da üretim yapan Amerikalı Şirket Corsair Marine’i satın alarak tüm üretimini Vietnam’a taşıdı. O tarihten itibaren aynı çatı altında hem Corsair Marine markalı sportif trimaranları hem de Seawind Markalı katamaranları üretiyor.

Seawind’in pazar payının neredeyse yüzde 90’nı Amerika ve Avustralya oluşturuyor. Pandemi ile birlikte teknelere ve özellikle katamaranlara artan talepten sonra Seawind’in de siparişlerinde bir patlama yaşanıyor. 90’a yakını yeni tasarım çizgisiyle piyasaya sürülen “Seawind 1370” modeli olmak üzere firmanın elinde şu an 200 ün üzerinde sipariş bulunuyor. Bazı modellerde teslim süreleri üç dört seneleri buluyor. Bu talebe yetişebilmek adına yeni tesis arayışına giren Avustralyalı marka rotayı, Türkiye’ye, İzmir’e kırdı. 

İzmir’deki tesisin resmi açılışı 5 Eylül’de yapılacak. Detayları Seawind Türkiye’nin Genel Müdürü Kıvanç Kardeş’ten dinledik.

5200 METREKARELİK TESİS

Seawind’in sahibi ve CEO’su Richard Ward, artan talebi karşılayabilmek için Vietnam’daki üretim tesislerini daha geniş bir fabrikaya taşıyıp kapasiteyi artırırken, bir yandan da Avrupa pazarından daha fazla pay alabilmek amacı ile Avrupa’ya yakın bir coğrafyada ikinci bir üretim tesisi kurmayı planlar. 2019 yılı sonlarında yaklaşık iki ay Türkiye’de kalarak araştırma yapan Ward, o dönemde bu yatırım ile ilgilenen potansiyel ortak bulamaz ve pandeminin de araya girmesi ile bu proje askıya alınır.

2021’in sonlarında Richard ve Kıvanç Kardeş’in yolları kesişir ve 2022 yılı ilk çeyreğinde çoğunluk hissesi Seawind’e ait olan bir JV Şirket kurulup arazi yatırımı yapılır. 2022 Kasım ayında başlanan Seawind Türkiye tesisi inşaatı Temmuz 2023’te tamamlanır.

İzmir’deki İZBAŞ ihracat sanayi serbest bölgesinde yer alan 5 bin 200 metrekarelik tesis, “Seawind 1170” üretim hattı için özel olarak tasarlanır. Perosnel dokuz aya yakın bir süre Vietnam’da kalarak SW1170 modelinin Vietnem’da üretilen ilk iki gövdesinin üretiminde bizzat bulunur. Mayıs 2023’te Vietnam’dan 1170 modeline ait kalıplar İzmire’ getirilerek üretime burada devam edilir. 

Bu arada Seawind’in Türkiye’deki yapılanmasının sadece 1170 modelinin üretimi ile sınırlı kalmayıp, Avrupa başta olmak üzere yakın coğrafyaya satılacak Türkiye ve Vietnam üretimi tüm modeller için arma donatımı, teslimat ve satış sonrası hizmetlerini kapsayan bir teknik servis merkezi olarak da hizmet vermesi planlanıyor.

UZUN YOL TEKNESİ

Firmanın kurucusu Richard Ward tarafından tasarlanan Seawind 1170, kendisinden önceki popüler Seawind modelleri olan 1000, 1160 ve 1260 ile aynı çizgide ve modern bir tasarım olarak lanse edilen 1370’in de devamı olarak tasarlanmış. Katamaranın mühendisliği ise Yeni Zelanda merkezli Gurit’e ait. Performansı yüksek tutmak için önemli yapısal alanlarda karbon takviyesi kullanılmış. Gövde tasarımı açık deniz seyirleri için optimize edilmiş. 39 feet uzunluğuyla 1170, filonun küçük üyesi gibi görünse de 500 litrelik su deposu, 500 litrelik yakıt deposu, ikiz 29 hp Yanmar içten takmalı dizel motorlar ve isteğe bağlı büyük güneş enerjisi ve lityum kurulumları için geniş alan ile bu tekne tam anlamıyla bir uzun yol teknesi. İlk iki gövdesi Vietnam’daki tersanede tamamlanan katamaranın bundan sonraki tüm gövdeleri İzmir’de inşa edilecek. Buradaki ilk gövdeninse 2024’ün başlarında tamamlanması planlanıyor.☸

Australian catamaran company Seawind's Izmir factory to open on September 5

Australia's world-famous catamaran company seawind's factory established in izmir free zone (İzbaŞ) will open on september 5. .

According to a statement released by İZBAŞ, the opening ceremony of the factory, which will be the sole production center of the brand's "Seawind 1170" model, is expected to be attended by Australian Ambassador to Ankara Miles Armitage.

IZBAŞ General Manager Gürsel Bahçıvancılar stated that they are very pleased to bring the company, a world giant in its field, to Turkey and IZBAŞ.

Bahçıvancılar stated that 120 people will be employed in the factory, which will realize annual exports of 11 million dollars when it reaches full capacity, and noted the following:

"The interest and demand for watercraft worldwide shows a remarkable increase, especially after the pandemic. It is of course no coincidence that Seawind, one of the world's leading brands in catamaran production, has chosen Turkey as the only investment location in the world for its new model 1170. Our country has been carrying out very successful works in this field for many years and we have many companies that have a voice in the world. We are talking about a sector with high added value and demand for qualified employees. We know that there are many companies in Izmir that produce in this sector. We do not see Seawind's visit to İZBAŞ as just an investment. Their trust in our country and İZBAŞ, and their contribution to our city becoming a production base in this sector are as important to us as their investment."

Avustralyalı katamaran üreticisi Seawind, Türkiye’deki ilk yatırımını İzmir’de gerçekleştirdi. Şirketin en çok ilgi gören ve kısa süre önce dünya lansmanı yapılan “SW1170” modelinin tek üretim merkezi olacak fabrikanın açılışı gerçekleştirildi. Açılış törenine sektörün pek çok temsilcisi ve Avustralya Büyükelçisi Miles Armitage da katıldı.

Armitage, Seawind’in Türkiye’deki yatırımının önemli olduğuna değinerek “Seawind İzmir’e uzmanlığını, tasarımı getirdi, ancak İzmir de bütün imkânları ile onları karşıladı. Ekonomik açıdan zorlukların yaşandığı zamanda böyle bir yatırımı hayata geçirmek kolay değil… Seawind’in ürettiği ürünler ve Türkiye’de sunulan çözümlerle bütün bu sorunların aşılacağına inanıyorum” diye konuştu.

2024 yılında kapasitemizi artırmayı hedefliyoruz

 Seawind Group Holding Yönetim Kurulu Başkanı Richard Ward, bu yatırımın Seawind için önemli bir mihenk taşı olduğunu söyleyerek 2024 yılında her 3 haftada 1 tekne üretecek şekilde kapasite artırmayı hedeflediklerini söyledi.

Bu yatırım Seawind’in katamaran pazarında Avrupa’da güçlenmeye başlamasının başlangıcı niteliğinde olduğunu belirten Ward, “Seawind üretim hayatına bundan 40 yıl önce başladı ve daha sonra üretimini Vietnam’a genişletti ve 80 adet katamaran ve trimaran üretiyor ve yaklaşık 500 personeli var. Seawind çok hızlı büyüyen bir firma pazarımızı dünya çapında genişletmek istiyoruz.

Şu anda Amerika ve Avustralya pazarlarımıza ek olarak buradaki yatırımımız ile Avrupa’yı da önemli pazarlarımıza eklemek istiyoruz. Bundan sonraki yıllarda Akdeniz ve Ege’de de yüzlerce Seawind katamaranı yelken yaparken görebiliriz” diye konuştu.

“Seawind Türkiye önemli bir merkez olacak”

Seawind Türkiye Genel Müdürü Kıvanç Kardeş, yatırımı 7 ay gibi kısa bir sürede tamamladıklarını söyleyerek, bu tesiste dünyanın en güzel performans gezi katamaranlarından birini üretmeyi ve Seawind’in yeni modellerini de Türkiye’ye getirmeyi hedeflediklerini söyledi. DÜNYA’ya demeç veren Kıvanç Kardeş, İzmir’den tüm dünyaya yelkenli katamaran ihraç edeceklerini ifade ederek, İzmir fabrikasında üretimin yanı sıra Seawind’in Vietnam fabrikasında üretilip Avrupa bölgesine satılan tekneleri için de arma donatımı, teslimat ve satış sonrası bakım hizmeti de vermeye başlayacaklarını ifade etti.

İzmir’deki yatırımın yakın coğrafyadaki katamaran alıcıları için önemli bir merkez olacağını vurgulayan Kardeş, “Yaklaşık 6 bin metrekare alanda, 5 milyon dolarlık bir yatırım ile kurulan fabrikamızda üretim kapasitemizi kademe kademe artırmayı planlıyoruz. 2024 yılında 12 adet, 2025 yılında 16 ve ondan sonraki yılda 24 adet katamaran olacak şekilde orta vadeli üretim hedefimiz var. Tam kapasiteye ulaştığımızda yaklaşık 120 kişiye istihdam sağlayacağız. Burada Seawind’in 1170 yelkenli modeli üretilecek.

Diğer modeller Vietnam’daki fabrikamızda üretiliyor. Vietnam fabrikamızın üretim kapasitesi çoğu modelde 2027 sonuna kadar dolmuş durumda olduğu için bu yeni modelin ayrı bir yerde üretilmesi söz konusu idi. Seawind‘in Avrupa ve yakın coğrafya pazarlarında büyüme hedefi çerçevesinde SW1170 modelinin üretimi için İzmir tercih edildi” dedi.

“Yerli üreticilerden destek alıyoruz”

 Üretilen katamaranlarda yerlilik oranını olabildiğince yüksek seviyede tutarak yerli sanayiye katkı sağlamayı amaçladıklarını vurgulayan Kardeş bu konuda şunları söyledi: “Teknelerin gövdesinde kullanılan jelkot, reçine, elyaf, kumaş gibi komponentlerin büyük ağırlığı yerli üreticilerden temin ediliyor. Teknenin kabuğunda ciddi bir yerli ürün ağırlığı var. Buna ilave olarak camlar, paslanmaz komponentler, kablolar, yakıt ve su tankları, halatlar, zincir, çapa, mobilyalar, döşemeler ve yelkenleri de yerli imalatçılardan tedarik etmeyi planlıyoruz.”

“10 milyon doların üzerinde ihracat hedefliyoruz”

 Seawind Türkiye olarak tam kapasiteye ulaştıklarında yıllık 10 milyon doların üzerinde ihracat hedeflediklerini söyleyen Kardeş, Türkiye ve Vietnam fabrikalarında farklı segmentlerde toplam yaklaşık 100 adet çok gövdeli katamaran üretileceğini söyleyerek sözlerini şu şekilde noktaladı: Seawind katamaran üretiminde 40 yıllık bir tecrübeye sahip. Alanında deneyimli ve tercih edilen bir marka. Seawind Group, Corsair Marine Markalı trimaranları ve Seawind Markalı katamaranları içeren toplam çok gövdeli tekne üretim adetinde dünyada ilk 10 üretici arasında. Amacımız Türkiye’de her türlü teknik imkâna sahip fabrikamızla hem Türkiye’de hem de Avrupa ve yakın coğrafyada büyüyerek 1170 ve diğer segmentlerdeki ürünlerimizin konfor ve performansını müşterilerimize yaşatmak.”

“Ülkenize aşık oldum ve buraya bir gün yatırım yapmaya söz verdim”

Fabrika açılışında konuşan Seawind Group Holding Yönetim Kurulu Başkanı Richard Ward, Türkiye’ye ilk kez geldiğini ülkeye hayran kaldığını şu sözlerle aktardı: “Türkiye’ye 2019 yılında küçük kızımın düğünü için geldim ve geldiğimde ülkenize aşık oldum, insanlarını çok sevdim ve özellikle de muhteşem kıyılarınıza hayran kaldım. Tanrının lütfu olan bir coğrafyaya sahipsiniz Ziyaretimde Antalya kıyılarındaki tekne üretim merkezlerini gezdim ve oraları çok beğendiğim için günün birinde tekrar buraya dönüp burada tekne üreteceğime kendi kendime söz vermiştim.”

Eyüp Sevimli: Yatırımın Türkiye’de olması tesadüf değil

İZBAŞ Yönetim Kurulu Başkanı Eyüp Sevimli, İzmir’in en önemli yatırım ve üretim merkezleri arasında yer alan İzmir Serbest Bölgesi’nde yeni bir dünya devinin daha yatırım yapmasının mutluluğunu yaşadıklarını söyleyerek, İZBAŞ olarak yatırımcıların talep ve beklentilerini en iyi şekilde anlayıp hızlı çözümler üretebilecek güçlü bir yapılanmaya sahip olduklarını belirtti. Katamaran üretiminde dünyanın en önde gelen markaları arasında yer alan Seawind’in yeni modeli 1170’in dünyadaki tek üretim yeri olarak Türkiye’yi belirlemesinin tesadüf olmadığını belirten Sevimli, ''Katma değeri ve nitelikli çalışan talebi son derece yüksek bir sektörden söz ediyoruz. İzmir’de de bu sektörde üretim yapan firmalar var. Seawind’in bu sektörde İzmir’in bir üretim üssü olmasına sağlayacağı katkı en az yaptıkları yatırım kadar önemli'' dedi.

Seawind 1170 first look: 39ft passagemaking catamaran

The newly launched Seawind 1170 is smaller than many new catamaran launches but should still prove a capable passagemaking multihull

Over the past few years Seawind has become increasingly well recognised for its quick cruising catamarans. This 39-foot Seawind 1170 retains key core elements, including relatively light displacement, plus twin aft helm stations with excellent protection and visibility.

There’s also a removable carbon sprit and a pair of windows in the hardtop to monitor sail trim. However, despite its potential to sail for extended periods at speeds above 10 knots, this is not intended as a boat that will be difficult or energetic to sail: a self-tacking jib is standard and the mainsheet traveller is mounted on the hard top, so doesn’t present a danger to anyone in the cockpit.

Despite being smaller than the existing 52ft Seawind 1600 Passagemaker and recent 45ft 1370 models, it’s still intended as a capable ocean cruising multihull , with bright and comfortable accommodation.

The owner’s cabin in the port hull benefits from a queen size athwartships double berth that creates much more of a feeling of space than many catamarans of this size. Equally, the starboard forward guest cabin has a queen size bed, while there’s a smaller double to be found aft. Unusually, the galley is down in the starboard hull, leaving space for a full-width saloon with navstation.

A pair of big opening hatches in the front of the coachroof are supported on gas struts, while a tri-fold door that swings upwards to sit against the underside of the hard top creates a wide opening between cockpit and saloon.

Stowage on deck includes three large lockers at the front of the bridgedeck, plus further space under the seating in the aft cockpit.

Tankage is also generous at around 500lt for both fuel and water.

The first two prototype 1170s are already afloat, with one of them having been tested in 30-35 knots of head winds and waves of up to 4-5m waves. “Even though we were pushing it hard to test its limits,” designer and Seawind founder Richard Ward reported afterwards, “it felt strong and safe and very dry, even as we crashed off the back of the short, sharp waves.”

Production boats will be built at Seawind’s new factory in Izmir, Turkey, with the first expected to be afloat in mid 2024. This location, a modern city of five million people on the eastern shores of the Aegean, reflects the yard’s desire to capture more of the European market.

How did we get here ?

As an experienced yachtsman who has competed in the Sydney to Hobart yacht race and cruised the world, Richard Ward has built the company up from grass roots but always with a philosophy of building safe and well performing sailing catamaran sailboats.

In October 2010 Seawind Catamarans acquired Corsair Marine, the world’s foremost trailerable trimaran manufacturer who has built over 2,500 trimarans during their 30+ year history. Having spent 20 years manufacturing in North America, Corsair Marine relocated their management and manufacturing facility to Vietnam. For over 10 years Corsair Marine has been building high performance, light weight composite boats built from fibreglass and carbon, using the latest technology including resin infusion and vacuum bagging. Seawind Catamarans  relocated the production of their catamaran models to the Corsair Marine factory, along with their own team of shipwrights, high skilled tradesmen and management to oversee the manufacturing and to also cooperatively develop the manufacturing techniques of Seawind and Corsair.

The Seawind Group now employ over 550 staff stretching over multiple continents with more than 20 agents internationally and exporting to all parts of the globe. With over 15 catamaran and trimaran models in production, and the production capabilities to continue to develop some of the worlds most interesting and exciting multihulls, the Seawind Group are one of the largest multihull producers in the world.

Seawind to produce new model in Turkey

Construction of the Seawind 1170 will take place at a newly-built facility in Izmir

Australian catamaran builder Seawind has announced that its new model for 2023, the Seawind 1170, will be produced at a newly-built facility in İzmir, Turkey.

As the designer of the Seawind 1160 and 1260, CEO Richard Ward worked with Seawind’s in-house team to deliver a modern set of lines for the Seawind 1170, incorporating the best of modern technology, whilst staying true to the Seawind identity that is consistent throughout the range.

The new Seawind 1170 catamaran

Following the launch of the first unit which was built in Vietnam, the Seawind 1170 will be manufactured at Seawind’s new manufacturing location in Turkey. The facility in Izmir will also operate as a Seawind Catamaran European Service Centre.

Located in the IZBAS export industrial free zone in Izmir, the newly constructed 5,200m² facility (56,000ft²) will be dedicated to the Seawind 1170 production line.

“The Izmir location is perfect for Seawind to properly service the important European market, both as a strategic production location but also as an accessible and yacht friendly centre for Mediterranean cruising owners,” says Richard Ward, Seawind CEO and founder. “It is the perfect place to start a sailing adventure or an equally perfect location for a long-term owner to linger awhile for the annual Seawind check up by the experienced Seawind service team.”

Kivanc Kardes has been appointed general manager for Seawind Turkey. “We continuously see the development of the marine industry in Turkey and we are proud to bring Seawind Catamarans to the region to be part of this strategic development for the company,” he says.

All production tooling has been shipped from Vietnam to Turkey. Key personnel from Seawind Turkey also completed training during the development and build of Hulls #1 and #2 of the 1170 at Seawind’s main production facility in Vietnam.

The new production facility in Izmir will play a key strategic role in the Australian catamaran brand’s further expansion into the European market whilst offering key customer support to both new and existing Seawind owners.

The service centre will also function as a commissioning base for any Seawind owners with models manufactured at the Vietnam facility wanting delivery to Europe. International container vessels typically transit through the Suez canal from Asia, making Turkish ports easily accessible.

This all new 39 foot CE Category A catamaran was designed with performance in mind, without sacrificing any of the features Seawind is so famous for, including twin protected helms, Seawind’s signature trifold doors and large forward opening saloon windows. Carbon has been extensively used to reinforce the structure in high load areas, while the hulls are fully infused with vinylester resin.

Like all Seawinds, the Seawind 1170 is equipped to take you further, faster, safer. Twin Yanmar 29hp diesels, combined with 132 gallons of diesel storage, 160 gallons of water storage and ample space for large solar and lithium installations means the 1170 is well suited to those looking for a boat that is optimized for full live aboard, blue water sailing.
