The coolest yachts in town for the 2023 Monaco Grand Prix

Every year, Monaco’s Grand Prix pulls in some of the fleet’s finest superyachts for a weekend of adrenaline-fuelled F1 action and A-lister events in the heart of the principality. Yachts moored stern to the circuit have a premium vantage point over the cars tearing around the track, while superyachts at anchor can enjoy all the Formula One buzz with the added benefit of privacy and seclusion. These are all the yachts to look out for at the 2023 event…

Phoenix 2 | 90m

Designed to fulfill a brief for an entertainment-led layout, Phoenix 2 is the ideal candidate for hosting guests during the Monaco Grand Prix. She has a good balance of cosy interior areas and open al fresco socialising spaces, including an enclosed winter garden that can host up to 120 guests. The 90-metre Lürssen is located in the Monaco anchorage close to the entrance of the port, and yacht-spotters can look out for her distinctive 5.4-metre phoenix figurehead on the bow.

Titiana | 73m

Charter machine Titania has secured a coveted trackside berth for the event, giving her guests the ultimate view over the cars roaring through Monaco. The main deck aft will be popular for guests looking for a shaded spot, while the sundeck has plenty of seating options, plus a 4.5-metre pool with a swim-up bar. Anyone seeking a respite from the Formula One will find plenty of interior spaces to enjoy, including an expansive main saloon and skylounge with drop-down cinema screen.

Lady Jorgia | 115m

Marking the largest yacht sale of 2023 so far, the iconic 115.1-metre Lürssen is making her first high-profile appearance as Lady Jorgia . The ex- Ahpo has an exterior by Nuvolari Lenard which is defined by sugar-scoop windows and large segments of black along the top of the superstructure. The design is said to be influenced by Ferraris, making her right at home in the Monaco anchorage.

Octopus | 126m

Octopus is fresh from a charter trip around Antarctica, and while her amenities list may make her better-suited to exploration, she is still a welcome addition to Port Hercules. The 126.2-metre yacht has an exterior by Espen Øino , with interiors by Monk Design and Jonathan Quinn Barnett .   Octopus is home to seven tenders, a glass-bottomed underwater observation lounge, smoothie bar and a basketball court.

Aalto | 80m

Formerly known as Amevi , the 80-metre Oceanco giant Aalto is berthed in the centre of Port Hercule to catch the Grand Prix. The yacht has a recognisable Nuvolari Lenard exterior and interiors by the late Alberto Pinto , with an interior volume of 2310GT that’s sure to provide plenty of spaces to watch the races from indoors. The yacht was rechristened in July 2022 and her name now means “wave” in Finnish.

Joy Me | 50m

Joy Me , usually berthed in Cap d’Ail, is making an appearance in Port Hercules for the Grand Prix. She’ll be one of the most recognisable yachts at the event, with her custom red and white exterior and unusual eye motif — said to be the eyes of the commissioning owner’s daughter. The Croatian-built yacht 49.9-metre has masses of exterior areas for guests to make the most of, as well as a fun interior with plenty of modern artwork.

Lammouche | 44m

Fresh from her groundbreaking trials of a new type of biofuel, 44-metre Lammouche is a 2010 Sanlorenzo with a charter-orientated configuration. Highlights include a spacious sundeck bordered by glass bulwarks for uncompromising views over Monte Carlo.

Resilience | 65.5m

Resilience has been an active cruiser since her launch in 2021, showing up on the scene for the New Year’s Eve festivities in St Barths and now arriving on the scene for the Monaco Grand Prix. The 65.5-metre ISA yacht has a sporty design from Enrico Gobbi - Team for Design , and the Italian studio has worked to create a modern, yet comfortable interior with accommodation for a total of 14 guests.

Instagram's favourite charter yacht Loon is also part of the line-up of yachts attending the Grand Prix, berthed inside the port within easy distance of all the action. The 54.5-metre Newcastle Marine is usually found cruising the crystal-clear waters of the Caribbean and putting her mammoth treasure chest of toys to good use, but she's now based across the pond. Her big sister, the recently-purchased Icon yacht Loon , is just up the coast in Marseille.

Cloud 9 | 89m

Cloud 9 marked one of the largest yacht sales of 2022 and she made her first public appearance under her new name at last year's Monaco Grand Prix. When she was known as Infinity , the Oceanco build was notoriously private – now it seems she’s spending a little more time in the limelight. She is listed for charter with Burgess and comes complete with expansive lounging spaces, a decadent beauty saloon and a main deck pool that measures almost 18 metres squared.

Lionheart | 90m

In 2016, Lionheart was launched by Benetti as the Italian shipyard’s new flagship and is the owner's third Benetti to bear the same name. The 90-metre motor yacht is no stranger to Monte Carlo, spending most of her time cruising the French and Italian Riviera from her home base in Port Hercules. Lionheart is currently berthed at the end of Quai Rainier.

The Prices & Parties Aboard the Iconic Yachts of the F1 Monaco Grand Prix

yachts in monaco for f1

It’s a bona fide showcase of opulence. Here’s what you need to know about the yachts at the Monaco Grand Prix.

The most expensive weekend in sports is here. Formula 1 drivers will take their talents to the French Riviera on Sunday for the Monaco Grand Prix. Sure, fans mainly flock to watch their favorite driver make the podium, but this particular race is also an excuse to show off one’s latest luxury toys.

In this case, it’s the super-yachts that provide the most picturesque backdrop for the complicated track.

Attending a Formula 1 race is already a bucket-list experience. Watching it from the upper deck of a multi-million-dollar aquatic behemoth? Not many can say they’ll have that opportunity. Logistically speaking, finding yourself on one of those things isn’t guaranteed. You either have to be the owner of the ship, know said owner personally, or eclipse celebrity status that will automatically grant you an invitation if you are even in the general vicinity.

The illustrious Port Hercules marina is the hottest place to be over the next few days, so let’s take a look at what it takes to find yourself amongst Hollywood A-listers and their Very Important Friends.

Get on our list for weekly sports business, industry trends, interviews, and more.

  • Inside the Boardroom

Securing a spot on the water is no easy feat. Many opt to rent one for the weekend, which certainly comes at a hefty price tag. According to The Sports Rush , there are 760 berths up for grabs, and the least expensive will run you $3,800 a night. But it’s no guarantee that price will grant you an acceptable vantage point of the race. If that’s a priority, then expect to pay at least $110,000 a night. Keep in mind, that doesn’t even include food, drinks, entertainment, and anything else to make your super-yacht the most exclusive of the bunch. Also, yachts perched along the inner docks of Port Hercules have a length restriction of 30 meters.

For those looking to experience opulence without the possession of a boat, there’s an option for that. Enter the super-yacht hospitality package. As Yacht Charter Fleet describes, you can still be among the who’s-who in Monte Carlo, and even get a trackside vantage point of the race. Because they don’t come with the responsibility of managing a boat, demand for this option is incredibly high. In fact, many secure their spots for next year immediately following this year’s festivities. All the same benefits like access to premier dining and extravagant amusement are still included.

View this post on Instagram A post shared by AMBER LOUNGE (@amberloungeltd)

Billed as the most prestigious hospitality package in Monaco, Amber Lounge is an immersive experience that aims to please. Securing a pass here is like finding a golden ticket for a trip to the Willy Wonka factory — except you’re likely feasting on the rarest of chocolate available. At this VIP spot, expect to network with F1 drivers, celebrities in town for the Cannes Film Festival, and if you’re lucky, royalty. Some of the must-attend events include fashion shows, charity events, dinners prepared by Michelin-starred chefs, and more. Individual passes for the lounge run €600 ($642) a person and climb up to €35,000 ($37,459) for a semi-private VIP suite table for 10 with free-flowing beverages and champagne. As for the yacht’s hospitality, a weekend experience aboard a cabin includes race viewing tickets, gourmet meals and afternoon tea, an open bar, and a live DJ for a cool €5,100 ($5,458) a person.

Who Owns the Largest Yacht in Monaco?

With all this talk about luxury, it certainly begs the question: What is the largest vessel? That so happens to be The Octopus , which was constructed for the late Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft and former owner of the Portland Trail Blazers, Seattle Seahawks, and Seattle Sounders. Measuring 414 feet long, The Octopus is worth $285 million and comfortably sleeps 12 guests. It has two helipads, a basketball court, a movie theater, and its own pool. The price to rent the yacht for a week is almost as extravagant as the amenities it offers, coming in at an overwhelming $2.2 million.

Here are more details about Octopus: The garage alone is 118 feet and holds 7 tenders, several jet skis, and a 10-person submarine. The boat was previously owned by the late Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, costing $20M to operate each year. In January, seven-time Formula 1 champion Lewis Hamilton and Olympic medalist Shaun White famously rented The Octopus to cruise around Antarctica, taking the continent’s breathtaking views, stunning wildlife, and more. Hamilton is set to race in Monaco, which he has won three times.

The original and most iconic fixture in the Formula One calendar, watching the  Monaco Grand Prix  from a superyacht is a true bucket-list experience; find out how you can step on board a luxury yacht and soak up the F1 action for yourself.

Every year, the French Riviera marks the start of the Mediterranean superyacht season with the F1 Monaco Grand Prix. With cascades of Hollywood A-listers in town from the Cannes Film Festival , which takes place just days before, the racing fixture is one of the most desirable events for superyacht charters, attracting hundreds of yachts to the illustrious Port Hercules marina.

How to do the F1 Monaco Grand Prix like a VIP:

Monaco Grand Prix Yacht hospitality package

Why choose an f1 yacht hospitality package, rent a private yacht for the monaco grand prix, why charter a private yacht for the grand prix.

As the SuperyachtSet gather in this pint-sized principality, Monaco is transformed into a buzzing hive of parties, paparazzi and thrilling races. Find out how you can be at the heart of it all, and experience the world's most exciting F1 fixture from on board a yacht.

yachts in monaco for f1

To get on board a yacht, there are two options available; either you can choose from a selection of VIP Yacht Hospitality Packages, or you can opt for a   Monaco Grand Prix private yacht charter .

Both are excellent choices which are dependant on your personal preferences and budget. In this article, we compare Monaco Grand Prix hospitality packages with chartering a yacht privately, and our first-hand knowledge will help you decide which VIP option is best for you.

Yachts in Monaco for the annual Grand Prix event

Superyacht hospitality packages are the premium option for those who don’t want to rent a superyacht, but would still like to have the luxury of stepping on board one. Hospitality packages don’t need to be booked months in advance, and many offer an incredible advantage over private yacht charters ; a trackside berth.

Trackside berths are in high demand due to their unobstructed views, and many of these coveted berths are booked 12 months in advance by the hospitality companies; meaning you’re guaranteed some of the best seats in the house if you opt for a yacht hospitality package with a trackside location.

What’s more, many superyacht hospitality packages offer you the chance to network and party with other like-minded, high-net-worth individuals (HNWI) and those with a shared interest in the glitz and glamour of the event.

Monaco Grand Prix yacht hospitality and party packages: The ultimate guide

Chartering a superyacht for the Monaco Grand Prix gives you exclusive access to a yacht for just your family  and close friends. It also provides you with six-star service from the crew, who are solely devoted to catering to you and your party's needs.

On top of this, chartering a superyacht will give you the added benefit of accommodation, as well as all of your drinks and meals provided by an on-board chef, who will tailor a menu specifically to you and your group.

In addition, a yacht gives you the most glamorous base for inviting day guests on board to watch the races. You also have the freedom to invite people on board for dinners or evening functions, providing you make prior arrangements with the crew.

Another perk of private yacht hire at the Monaco Grand Prix is the option to plan a superyacht vacation after the Grand Prix draws to a close. When the races end, you can pull up anchor and head out to explore the beautiful coastlines of the Cote d’Azur .

From the party hotspot of St Tropez , to the secluded beaches of the French island of Corsica , the region is brimming with popular charter destinations. You could even go as far as Italy , drinking in the beauty of Portofino or shopping in the designer boutiques of Sardinia .

Unlike hospitality packages, which can be booked last-minute, you will have to start making arrangemens for a Monaco Grand Prix yacht charter at least nine months before the event, particularly if you wish to secure a trackside berth.

  • Luxury and privilege of a private yacht all to yourself
  • Watch the races from anywhere on board
  • Share the experience with just friends and family
  • Option to throw parties for Grand Prix attendees
  • Accommodation is included
  • Option to charter around the South of France and surrounding areas afterwards

What It Costs To Moor A Superyacht At The Monaco Grand Prix

Forget the F1 – booking a berth is the real race...

What It Costs To Moor A Superyacht At The Monaco Grand Prix

Image: Gareth Harford

Monaco. The billionaire’s playground. The kleptomaniac’s kryptonite. The ludomaniac’s lair. Superyacht city. Monaco is known as a fabulous place to spend money like wild (and to strut on a treadmill on the deck of your superyacht , whilst watching the F1).

Speaking of which, you might be interested to know how much it costs to moor a superyacht in Monaco during the Monaco Grand Prix. To answer this burning question, DMARGE spoke to Istanbul-based luxury yacht manager Candaş Balci.

Balci told us just to book a fairly average berth in Monaco “for F1 week” was around 30 thousand euros “for a 35-meter motoryacht for a place which had no view of track but inside the port.”

Balci explained: “There are different parts in the marina which have different rates depending on where the yacht will be.”

yachts in monaco for f1

“If it sees the track or not, price changes as well,” Bali told us.

“The berths which directly see the track were around 50-100K euro for the week, which is almost their yearly berth fee in a normal marina.” Candas Balci

Browsing through Reddit’s F1 Technical page, one user posts a link to a photo which purports to give a list of Monaco’s pricing for 2019. The prices which appear in the photo seem more or less consistent with the pricing Balci gave DMARGE.

Another Reddit user said: “My old landlord used to work on super yachts and also happened to introduce me to f1 so I can at least give you an anecdotal response. He said to rent the slip during the race week was around 100k and there was usually a 20k ‘offering to the port master’ as a separate transaction. He called it a bribe but I’m not sure it’s fair for me to use his characterization.”

RELATED: Hotel Staff Reveal The Wildest Rich Person Requests They’ve Ever Received

Forbes also wrote about this topic a number of years back. They reported: “To moor in one of the world’s most expensive marinas during high season, a superyacht owner can be expected to pay up to $4,130 per night, and during prime time events such as the Monaco Grand Prix rates can skyrocket to $100,000 or more for a five-day stay in Monaco’s prime berths.”

Monaco’s Port Hercules has 700 berths. Ac cording to 212 Yachts , “During the Monaco Grand Prix, the port is filled to capacity, with berths booked well in advance of the event.”

212 Yachts also says that to get yourelf a berth you need to complete a port application form. This is a highly competetive process.

“For the best chance of a successful application, it is essential to submit this form as early as possible,” 212 Yachts states.

“In order to do this, you must first select your charter yacht as technical details of the vessel must be specified on the form. Those directly associated with the Formula One, the Monaco Grand Prix and the event sponsors are fast tracked in the process, contributing to the extremely competitive nature of this process,” ( 212 Yachts ).

There you have it: you can add knowing how much it costs to moor a superyacht in Monaco to your list of superyacht knowledge (which should also include knowing what it costs to spend a week on a superyacht in the medditeranean and why travelling around Europe on a superyacht is more stressful than you think ).

The Superyachts of the Monaco Grand Prix

superyachts Monaco Grand Prix

If you like nice boats and fast cars, and frankly who doesn't, the Monaco Grand Prix is the place to be.

Every year the world's elite descend upon the beautiful Mediterranean island to take in the annual F1 race. But over the years, it's become arguably as much about boating as it is about auto racing. Massive superyachts with premium slips can moor with their stern facing the racetrack. It's quite the sight, and it adds an additional spectacle to watching the world's fastest cars rip through the narrow streets of Monaco. Both on the track and off, there's plenty to see.

Those slips, and the top decks of those superyachts, have the perfect vantage point to catch a portion of the race. They also serve as a makeshift showcase for boating enthusiasts to see who, and what, is in town for the weekend.

There are 760 berths up for grabs near the racetrack, with the least expensive running about $3,800 a night. But, for those who want a guaranteed view of the racing, or for those who need a large slip for a large boat, they can run up to $110,000 a night.

This year included some of the nicest superyachts from around the world, plus a few smaller vessels that captured the public's attention. We took a deep dive into the three most eye-catching boats in Monaco over the weekend, and they're not your typical fare.

Conor McGregor yacht Lamborghini Tecnomar

Arguably the biggest splash on the scene was UFC superstar Conor McGregor and his Lamborghini Tecnomar 63 . And it wasn't because of the size of his boat, but because of the buzz it generated.

In 2020, ‘The Notorious’ purchased the 63-foot-long Lamborghini Tecnomar 63. The 63 is a boutique ensemble of old school Lamborghini style (the "63" is both the length of the boat and an ode to Lambo's first year in business), and ultra-modern tech from Tecnomar. Of the 63 being made, McGregor scooped up #12 in ode to his Proper 12 Irish whiskey.

yachts in monaco for f1

Not only is the yacht modeled after Lambo's new hybrid Sián Supercar , it also has old school kickbacks to the Countach and Miura of the 60's and 70's. Tecnomar provided the modern touch with carbon fiber accents, a futuristic layout, 4000 horsepower, dual diesel V12's, a top speed of 60 knots (70 mph). It even has the epic nickname of "Supercar of the Sea." That is some legit performance for a luxury yacht.

By all accounts, McGregor had a really good time in Monaco. Great dock slip, too.

Always known as a crafty fighter with clever trash talk, McGregor may have out-gamed the system by bringing a smaller vessel. The inner docks of Port Hercules overlooking the racetrack have a length restriction of 30 meters. With only a 19 meter (63 foot) LOA, McGregor was able to get right on top of the action.

The Octopus

Octopus superyacht

The biggest boat in Monaco this year might be familiar to yacht enthusiasts. The superyacht Octopus was the most expensive yacht sold in 2021 , and it was originally commissioned by Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen. It is now reportedly owned by Swedish industrialist Roger Samuelsson .

The Octopus , at a whopping 414 feet long, went onto the market following Allen's death in 2018. it sold for a record-setting $266 million in August of 2021. Initially, the ship was listed as high as $325 million before undergoing several price drops until finding a buyer. At the time it was launched in 2003, it was the world's largest yacht .

The explorer-style yacht was built by respected German shipyard Lurssen, and some of its most recognizeable details include a full recording studio, a full size swimming pool, a gym, a library, and a basketball court. Her coolest feature might be the hydraulically-assisted swimming pool that converts to a dancefloor. As for guest accommodations, there are 13 cabins for 26 guests and space for over 60 crew. The master suite has its own private elevator and observation deck, not to mention two VIP apartments, seven double staterooms, and three twin staterooms.

The rugged hull design was built for Arctic exploration, and power comes from massive diesel-electric engines and eight generators. Its hybrid propulsion system gives Octopus increased autonomy and greater range, allowing it to travel up to 9000 nautical miles (16,600 km) before needing to refuel. It also has an impressive top speed of 19 knots (22 mph). She's functional too, having helped the British Royal Navy recover the bell of the historic HMS Hood from a depth of 1.7 miles (2.8 km) in the Denmark Strait of the North Atlantic after it sunk during World War II.

But all of that undersells the coolness of what she hides below deck. Octopus was designed to accommodate one of the most insane collection of secondary vessels ever seen. Two helicopters, a submarine, and seven tenders all use custom holding stations inside the hull's framework. There are also two life rafts, multiple jet skis, and an autonomous robotic boat (ROV) for deep sea exploration. There is even a glass bottomed observation deck, a fully-equipped diving station, and a hyperbaric chamber for post-dive recovery. There's also the small matter of the literal Beatles-inspired Yellow Submarine .

If you couldn't make it to Monaco but would like a ride aboard Octopus, she's available for charter for a meager $2.4 million per week. The last time she went out for charter, F1 champ Lewis Hamilton and Olympic medalist Shaun White had one heck of a good time cruising around Antarctica.

'joyMe

'joyMe superyacht Monaco Croatia

The most visually stunning yacht that pulled up for F1's big hoorah might have been the 164-foot (50 m) 'joyMe . Most superyachts (and most yachts in general) tend to have bland colour schemes. Usually you get all-white, and sometimes if you're lucky you might see the occasional blue or green accent.

Not so with 'joyMe , as she's decked out with an eye-popping chrome lower half and a crimson red upper hull. To complement the unique colours and details, she also has a beautiful teak deck. Her interior also sports some avant-garde style that wouldn't be out of place in a modern art exhibit or inside David Bowie's wildly styled superyacht El Caran .

Her top speed is 15.0 kn (17 mph) and her cruising speed is 13.0 kn (15 mph), which is pretty average for a 164-foot superyacht, but we'll chalk that up to the fact she devoted her resources to looking good. On the upside, she does have a maximum cruising range of 3200.0 nm (3600 miles / 5800 km) at 12.0 knots, which is solid. She gets her power from twin Cummins diesel engines and can accommodate up to 12 guests in 6 staterooms and 11 crew members.

Not only is her exterior unique, but so is her interior layout. All the guest staterooms are located on the main deck, which is both peculiar and extremely rare (they're typically well below deck). The perk is that it creates better views from enormous bay windows and easier access to everything topside. There's also a 'VIP Deck' for the owners, which is laid out like a full size apartment and includes a walk-in bathroom, master lounge, a jacuzzi, and access to the wheelhouse.

Since all the guests are on the top deck, that leaves room below for a full gym, a Finnish sauna, and a Hammam spa. What's a Hammam spa , you ask? Also known as a 'Turkish bath,' it uses hot steam during treatments to encourage a more intense and refreshing experience. As if sitting on her deck to watch an F1 race wasn't epic enough.

'joyMe is currently the largest yacht under the Croatian flag available for charter on the Adriatic, which makes her one of the best (and most attractive) options for exploring the coast of Croatia and Montenegro, or for taking in an F1 race.

Special birthday gift: I bought a Monaco Grand Prix package from the Senate as a special surprise birthday gift for my husband and son, and I am so glad I chose them. The experience was outstanding, and the staff were always quick to answer any queries I had beforehand. It certainly was the holiday of a lifetime, which they will never forget, and we would use them again. Thank you!

We just returned home from Monaco on a trip arranged by the Senate. The suites were perfect and just as advertised, and the service and food were amazing. Five-star service all the way!

Sam Siemon - 2019

We had the most amazing time at the Monaco Grand Prix. Every detail was taken care of, the boat was incredible, it wasn’t too crowded, and the service was impeccable. All topped off by Lewis Hamilton winning (which I’m guessing you didn’t sort 😊), the Senate Grand Prix were helpful regarding the booking itself—always kept in contact. And were friendly and efficient. Thanks again to Olivia and the team for one of the best experiences of our lives…truly unforgettable

Emma - 2019

I just wanted to send a quick thank you for helping us have a great and incredibly memorable weekend. Everything was perfect, especially the yacht crew's participation in renewing our wedding vows. Again, thank you for everything.

Dion - 2015

Awesome and Amazing! I cannot fault Senate Grand Prix—the experience and support are second to none. The team is exceptional, and nothing is too much trouble. We have used Senate for five years to go to the Monaco GP, and every year is amazing. It is totally worth experiencing the Monaco GP, and it is totally worth allowing Senate Grand Prix to make this happen for you. Thank you again for another amazing event.

WORLD'S MOST EXCLUSIVE EPICUREAN EVENT 'ONCE UPON A KITCHEN' RETURNS TO MIAMI FOR F1

PR Newswire

MIAMI, March 19, 2024

Once Upon a Kitchen presented by GR8 Experience and W South Beach offers an intimate evening with culinary masters Massimo Bottura and Virgilio Martínez

MIAMI, March 19, 2024 /PRNewswire/ --  GR8 Experience , the leading international agency for luxurious, once-in-a-lifetime experiences, alongside W South Beach , announces the return of their highly anticipated epicurean event, Once Upon a Kitchen to Miami in celebration of Formula 1. The multi-layered sensorial dinner, which started in 2017, offers guests an intimate evening with award-winning culinary masters behind the best restaurants around the globe.

Massimo Bottura cooking at Once Upon a Kitchen during Miami F1 2023

In collaboration with world-renowned chef Massimo Bottura and his team from Osteria Francescana, this year's Once Upon a Kitchen  will unite Bottura with globally recognized Peruvian chef Virgilio Martínez of Central Restaurante – voted the World's Best Restaurant in 2023. Known for his trailblazing multidisciplinary approach to fine dining, incorporating Peru's biodiversity and rich culture into his cuisine, Martínez will fuse his style and flavors with Bottura's iconic Italian cuisine.

Once Upon a Kitchen 2024 is designed as a deconstruction of traditional dinner gatherings, leaving Massimo, Virgilio, and attendees free to interact throughout the evening. Guests are encouraged to speak with the chefs and learn about the intricacies of their dishes, as well as Massimo and Virgilio's philosophies, passions, and the impact they've left on the culinary industry and beyond.

The dinner will be enhanced by this year's venue and host partner: the new, immersive ballroom at W South Beach. The luxury, oceanfront property—known as the epicenter of Miami's social scene—has become the first hotel in North America to install immersive video mapping technology. The floor-to-ceiling, 360-degree projections can transport guests anywhere in the world — from the fields of Tuscany to the top of Machu Picchu — and will provide a unique audio-visual experience to accompany the evening's culinary journey.

"Massimo and Virgilio are both known for revolutionizing their respective countries' cuisines, and we're excited to give people the opportunity to witness two culinary masters from opposite sides of the globe at work," said Barnabas Carrega, CEO and Co-Founder of GR8 Experience. "While getting a table at either of their restaurants can be difficult, it's even rarer to see 3 Michelin Star chefs cooking live, telling stories and directly answering audience questions. Our goal is to create an intimate setting, almost as if two of the world's best chefs are cooking for you in their kitchens at home."

GR8 Experience and Massimo Bottura are returning to Miami's F1 weekend following the success of Once Upon a Kitchen 2023. Held at The Deck at Island Gardens, last year's edition featured creations from Juan Manuel Barrientos of El Cielo, Chef Bernardo Paladini of Torno Subito, and master alchemist Alex Ott. The event was attended by F1 Miami mastermind and billionaire Stephen Ross, Olympic Gold Medalist Lindsay Vonn, and Lebron James' longtime friend and business partner Maverick Carter.

Once Upon a Kitchen will be held on May 4, 2024, with a cocktail and canapes hour starting at 7 pm and a six-course dinner beginning at 8 pm. The intimate event will host only 120 guests and availability is limited. Tickets are $3,500 per person and can be purchased by contacting [email protected].  Read more about the host and venue at www.wsouthbeachballroom.com .

Beat the heat: eight Mediterranean adventures for off-peak travellers

Go at the right time of year, and these destinations promise alfresco adventure and cultural immersion – without stifling temperatures

In the height of summer, the Mediterranean positively sizzles, but choose a trip in the “shoulder seasons” of spring and autumn and you’ll find the region transformed.

Visit these eight spots and you can still enjoy endless sun and blue skies, along with local festivals, perfect hiking temperatures and fabulous floral displays.

Magical Malta

Malta is a lovely blend of ancient history, golden beaches and delicious cuisine, with more than 300 days of sunshine a year – ideal for an off-season retreat. Mild temperatures are perfect for exploring the capital Valletta’s baroque architecture, the medieval city of Mdina and the island’s megalithic temples, as well as soaking up the cultural events along Valletta Waterfront promenade in the autumn.

Where to stay In the east-coast fishing village of St Julian’s, just 15 minutes from Valletta, Hilton Malta offers a beautiful seafront setting, sparkling outdoor pools, a heated indoor pool, and a state-of-the-art spa. There are plenty of dining options, including alfresco lunch at the Aqua Bar. To the north-west of the island, in the seaside resort of Qawra – a great spot for island boat tours – DoubleTree by Hilton Malta has two outdoor pools, and a private beach club (opening in September, for some post-summer sunshine). As well as a hotel bar, there’s a grill and enoteca, with a wide selection of wines.

Captivating Crete

One of the warmest places in Europe year-round and home to wholesome and varied Cretan cuisine, this charming Greek island is ideal in the shoulder season. Hike mountains, gorges and rugged coastline, explore pretty old towns and archaeological sites ranging from the palace of Knossos to Greco-Roman Gortyn, as well as trying raki, the famous Cretan tipple. Visitors in May can immerse themselves in nature with the spring flower festival in Chania – there’s a grand parade with flower-adorned floats.

Where to stay With sparkling views over Mirabello Bay and just a few sandy steps from beaches and crystal-clear water, Domes Aulus Elounda, Curio Collection by Hilton is a peaceful coastal retreat. Among the dining options, the striking new poolside restaurant offers barbecued meats and exotic salads. Chania Flair Boutique Hotel, Tapestry Collection by Hilton is located by Nea Chora harbour, with a sea-view pool, rooftop terrace and restaurants, bars and shops nearby. Alternatively, escape to adults-only Numo Ierapetra Beach Resort Crete, Curio Collection by Hilton , an exquisitely designed haven set against a mountain backdrop on the island’s south coast, while The Royal Senses Resort and Spa Crete, Curio Collection by Hilton is great for families, with a sparkling private beach, just a short drive to the medieval streets of Rethymno.

Sardinia in spring

Even outside the peak summer months, the golden sands and aquamarine waters of Sardinia are bliss. You can combine quiet beach days with hikes in the verdant hills, in May, June and September. If you visit in May, check out the historical Cavalcata Sarda, with its vibrant horse parade, while September’s Autumn in Barbagia festival showcases wine, food and handicrafts in central Sardinia.

Conrad Chia Laguna Sardinia Monte Cogoni Beach Sunrise Panoramic View

Where to stay In the north, Sulia House Porto Rotondo, Curio Collection by Hilton offers rustic-chic whitewashed design amid lush green hills, with beaches a short drive away. On the south coast you’ll find gorgeous cottage-style rooms and suites, a private beach and garden restaurants at Baia di Chia Resort Sardinia, Curio Collection by Hilton . Also on the island’s south coast, Conrad Chia Laguna Sardinia is the perfect stay for families with young children – it runs a dedicated kids’ club from April to September, and is also well-placed for award-winning beaches. The newest addition to the Hilton family in Sardinia, Mangia’s Santa Teresa Sardinia, Curio Collection by Hilton is set on the bay of Santa Reparata, perfect for hiking the local landscape before slipping into bliss by the hotel’s infinity pool.

Venice vistas

This lagoon-side city, crisscrossed by canals and sprinkled with palazzos is best explored without the heat and crowds of summer. An out-of-season break gives you the space to savour it all at a slow pace, leaving you to take in the historic wonders at every turn, such as Doge’s Palace, dating from 1340.

Where to stay Perfectly placed between Venice’s historic centre and its airport, the Hilton Garden Inn Venice Mestre San Giuliano is a contemporary hotel in a quiet location. The hotel’s outdoor pool is perfect for sunny afternoons, while the centre of Venice is just a 10-minute bus ride away. Or, there’s the stunning Hilton Molino Stucky Venice , in a fully restored flour mill on the tranquil shores of Giudecca Island. Just a short boat ride from Piazza San Marco, it offers elegant rooms and the highest rooftop bar in the city, set alongside a pool with a dreamy view.

Monaco marvels

It might be the world’s second-smallest country, but Monaco packs in a lot. Visit in the spring for blooming flowers in its multiple gardens, as well as sporting events such as the Monaco Grand Prix (26 May) and April’s Monte-Carlo Masters tennis tournament. Come autumn, when the sun is still warm, the National Day celebration brings the principality to life on 19 November, and international stars gather for the Monte-Carlo Jazz festival.

Where to stay Columbus Hotel Monte-Carlo, Curio Collection by Hilton , is a boutique retreat perfectly placed opposite the Princess Grace rose garden, in the centre of Fontvielle. It’s also a short walk to the Prince’s Palace of Monaco. Guests can enjoy some Monte-Carlo glamour at the hotel itself, with an elegant heated outdoor pool and views of the rose garden and the sea from most of the rooms. The airy Tavolo restaurant offers Mediterranean cuisine with seasonal ingredients and there are cocktail classics to sample at the bar.

Algarve adventures

Visiting the Algarve in spring and autumn means enjoying pleasantly warm temperatures, without the summer crowds. Perfect for beach trips or exploring the wonderful coastline by bike or on a hike, it’s also an ideal time to enjoy the region’s many golf courses.

Conrad Algarve Gusto 2

Where to stay Set in lush grounds in Quinta do Lago, Conrad Algarve is an ideal base for exploring the islands and lagoons of Ria Formosa nature park. Enjoy sunny beach days, a round of golf with a PGA-qualified pro and fine dining at the hotel’s Michelin-starred restaurant, Gusto by Heinz Beck. Set in landscaped gardens with eucalyptus and stone pine trees, Hilton Vilamoura As Cascatas Golf Resort & Spa has six pools to choose from, with cascading waterfalls – there’s also a kids’ club and the impressive 7 Seven Spa with thermal pool.

Blissful Balearics

For a relaxing Spanish holiday, taking in tapas, some vitamin D-boosting sunshine, and salty sea air, visit Mallorca or Ibiza in shoulder season. If you fancy something a tad more active, you’ll find your cycle tribe among the sharp ascents of Mallorca’s Tramuntana mountains, while Ibiza’s calendar is dotted with marathons and triathlons.

Hiking routes on both islands are at their most fragrant with early spring’s blooming almond blossom. In May, explore Ibiza’s Medieval fair, or sample local wines during the wine harvest in Mallorca in September.

Where to stay In Mallorca, the Hilton Mallorca Galatzo is just a 10-minute drive from the glittering marinas of Andratx and Puerto Portals and 20 minutes from Palma, with palm-dotted gardens and sea views, as well as an outdoor pool, restaurant and bars.

In Ibiza, try The Club Cala San Miguel Hotel Ibiza, Curio Collection by Hilton to the north of the island, which reopens for the season on 25 April. Just 10 minutes by car from the magical sands of Cala Benirrás and only 30 minutes from Ibiza’s old town, the hotel serves up local cuisine at a variety of restaurants and bars. Also in the north of the island is Cala San Miguel Hotel Ibiza, Curio Collection by Hilton – it opens at the end of May and is just steps from the shores of the Mediterranean. Both hotels are adults-only.

Cyprus sensation

Whether hiking the trails of the Troodos massif or spotting sea turtles nesting on sandy beaches, visiting Greco-Roman ruins or exploring the east-meets-west culture of divided capital Nicosia, Cyprus is a delight outside peak summer season. Visit in spring for meadows blanketed in wildflowers, while autumn is ideal for swimming with turtles in the still-warm waters.

Where to stay A contemporary spot close to the centre of the capital, Hilton Nicosia is ideally located for exploring the old town – tucked within the Venetian walls – and the archaeological wonders of the Cyprus Museum. Retreat back to the cool decor of this sleek hotel, with its lagoon-like pool and spa, and choose between the three distinctive restaurants and two relaxed bars.

Steiner identifies Bearman RISK for F1 drive

Steiner identifies Bearman RISK for F1 drive

Former Haas team principal Guenther Steiner had high praise for Oliver Bearman after his impressive debut in F1 in Saudi Arabia.

Steiner has previously worked with Bearman, after the Brit took part in FP1 in Mexico and Abu Dhabi last season with the American team.

READ MORE: Ferrari chief REVEALS Bearman F1 Australian Grand Prix role

The 18-year-old is Haas’ reverse driver for the 2024 season as well as Ferrari , and it was with the latter where he would make his debut in the sport replacing Carlos Sainz , after the Spaniard was diagnosed with appendicitis.

Despite having only one practice session to get used to F1 machinery, Bearman narrowly missed out of Q3 and went on to finish the race in seventh , beating fellow compatriots Lando Norris and Lewis Hamilton .

Steiner: I'd put Bearman in a seat

Writing in his first column on the official F1 website , Steiner was impressive by the teenager’s performance, but was not surprised by it having worked with him closely.

“Coming in to replace Carlos at the last minute – that was a lot of pressure on him,” he said. “Let’s not forget, he was on pole for the F2 race – he was already excited about that – and then getting the news he had to replace Carlos the next day must have been a lot to deal with. But you wouldn’t have known. He was very cool throughout.

“Jeddah is a one of the toughest tracks on the calendar, it isn’t easy there. If you make a mistake they are normally very costly. He did a good job – and obviously teams will be looking at him.

“When he drove in FP1 for us, I never feared he’d do something you wouldn’t expect. He was always in control. He did the same in Saudi Arabia. Was I surprised by what he did in Jeddah? No. I had faith he could do that.

“I think he has a good future in the sport. He just needs to stay calm and I have no doubt he will do that.”

Steiner, who was replaced as team principal at Haas by Ayao Komatsu , then urged his successor and the other team bosses to take a look at Bearman for next season.

“Based on his performance in Jeddah, after what I saw from him at Haas , I’d put him in a race seat,” said the Italian. “Obviously, it depends on the circumstances and what seats are available. You need to see the whole landscape, but he would be a candidate.

“Obviously, it is not 100% that he will succeed. It’s still a risk. But the way he handled himself in qualifying and the race in Jeddah, having just had one hour of practice, suggests the risk is so much smaller.”
