Shaped with the idea of extended voyages in both northern and southern hemispheres, Polar Star requires fewer stops in ports than comparable vessels. With her ICE class, she can operate in much colder climates than the usual, popular cruising areas and explore the vast reaches of even the poles. Espen Øino International designed the 63-meter yacht along traditional lines, with engineering to exacting technical standards when delivered in 2005. Her original interior design by Pauline Nunns reflected a rustic, country-house style with the ambience of a traditional motor yacht ambience. Large open areas for entertainment and relaxation feature hand-painted murals and antiques. She underwent an extensive interior refit in 2017 to create a more modern, oceanic environment.

The bilge system is operated by 2 electrically driven centrifugal pumps and 2Bilge ejectors. The centrifugal pumps are also used as fire and ballast pumps. The pressure side of the bilge ejector can also be operated by each fire pump. The suction lines of the bilge ejectors are connected to the bilge main. Each watertight compartment has a suction strum box to the bilge main. Additionally, the engine room is fitted with two direct suctions from the suction side of the fire/bilge pumps, and one emergency suction from one chilled water pump. One ejector is installed for draining chain locker and fore peak.

5+1 convertible

Access to the sundeck is via an exterior staircase on the port side from the bridge deck. Forward are two circular sunbathing pads. There is an outdoor cinema screen with a projector and a surround sound system. Forward of the mast there is a glass bar with stools, and full wet bar service station portside with built in electric BBQ. In the center of the deck is a large sunbed area and split coffee or dining table. Retractable sliding sunroofs are in the hardtop. The stack also houses the emergency generator.

Bridge Deck

The bridge has great visibility due to the reverse angle bridge windows and the full walk-around wing controls port and starboard. In addition to the two helm seats, there are two settees with coffee tables, ideal for guests wanting to visit the bridge whilst in navigation. Aft of the bridge to starboard is the ship’s office, which then leads into the captain’s study and further aft into the captain’s cabin. A convenient and discreet door leads into the crew stairs that service all decks down to the tank deck. A day head is conveniently located in the lobby area.

Aft of the bridge is the bridge deck lobby with the elevator, which services all decks down to the tank deck.The guest stairway is also off this lobby. Aft is the gym, which boasts floor to ceiling windows port and starboard. The gym is currently equipped with a “Techno Gym” cross trainer, static bike, tread mill, as well as a wall-mounted “Technogym Kinesis” and an array of free weights and bench.

Aft doors lead onto the aft bridge deck or “Jacuzzi deck”, which is partially covered; this aft section is equipped with awnings. The large 6 person Jacuzzi is fitted aft, with a bar and stools located starboard side. A shower and small wet bar/service station positioned on the starboard side, whilst on the port side is a day head. Two sun pads lay either side of the jacuzzi, perfect for lounging.

Owner’s Deck

On the bow is the working area with mooring cleats and the anchor windlass. Aft of this is the rescue tender and crane.

Aft of this are two cozy seating areas with bench seats as well as tables for the Owner’s use. These exterior areas are accessed from either side of the Master suite using the deck doors from the beautiful panoramic Owner’s suite, which boasts a 180° view via reverse-angled bridge-style windows. The king bed faces forward on the centerline of the vessel. Aft of this are two en-suite bathrooms, a his and hers, complete with dressing room, beautifully fitted out in polished marble. Full length hanging wardrobes are included, as well as the normal storage found in a dressing room.

Aft of the Owner’s suite is the Owner’s Office, fitted with a beautiful L shaped leather inlay desk. Off the office lies the guest stairway, elevator and day head, with a service door accessing crew stairway. On the starboard side there is a deck door to access the Owner’s deck area. Aft of this is the doorway into the Owner’s lounge. A comfortable “L” Shaped sofa and a further port side sofa offer comfortable and relaxed seating. A discreet davenport is situated to port facing out through the large side windows, which are a feature on both sides of the lounge. Center of the room there is a large smart TV, located above a decorative fireplace that, together with the driftwood floors and the lovely choice of fabrics, makes for an extremely cozy and informal atmosphere. This lounge can be serviced via the service pantry, which has separate access along with the crew stairway to ensure the finest and most discreet service.

Aft doors lead out onto the upper aft deck or “Dining Deck”. This vast entertaining deck is one of the principals and most used areas of the yacht. A central dining table that seats 12 is the center of attraction, whilst flanked on the port side by a semi-circular wet bar complete with bar stools and marbletopped cabinet used to layout the most lavish buffets and to mix the most exotic cocktails. This houses a double drawer fridge and undercounter wine fridge. To starboard there is a small circular table, enabling a small party to dine intimately, or for cards and gaming. Aft of this is another cabinet perfect for larger buffets. The aft area of the deck is not covered; however, it is equipped with 2 awnings providing plenty of shade. There is further seating aft as well as a coffee table both port and starboard. There are two recessed skylights on each side, letting in natural daylight to the covered areas. In addition to this, there are doors forward to allow guests to shut off the side decks in order to reduce wind, which can be further reduced by sliding the side glass windows. This space can also be cooled using the water mist system installed over the dinning and bar, making this deck a true “indoor/outdoor area”.

A generous passageway gives access to the guest suites, all of which benefit from large windows, iPod docks, iPad controls and safes.

Cabin 4 is forward to starboard with a king bed, leather drawers and desk with vanity. There is good closet space and a 40-inch TV mounted forward. The bathroom is forward with bathtub, WC and basin, and the floor and countertops are finished in polished marble.

Cabin 2 is adjacent on the port side fully furnished as a children cabin with 2 sets of bunks sleeping 4. This Vcabin allows for plenty of natural daylight and has a 40-inch TV for guest entertainment mounted inboard. Once again, there is plenty of closet space. The en-suite is forward and features a large walk-in cubicle shower, WC and sink. Both the flooring and countertops are finished in polished marble.

Cabin 3 is just aft to starboard and boasts a king bed, forward of which is a desk with leather inlay. There is ample hanging space and once again, this cabin is flooded with daylight. The 40-inch TV is mounted on the forward bulkhead. The en-suite bathroom has a shower, WC and sink, and both the flooring and countertops are in polished marble.

Cabin 1 is adjacent on the port side and boasts a king bed, forward of which is a dresser and desk with leather inlay. There is ample hanging space in a double wardrobe and once again, this cabin is flooded with daylight. The 40- inch TV is mounted on the forward bulkhead. The en-suite bathroom has a shower, WC and sink, and both the flooring and countertops are in polished marble.

Forward of the guest suite is the passageway with a discreet door leading into the crew staircase. Just aft of this is the main guest staircase that leads all the way up to the Owner’s deck, bridge deck and sundeck.

Aft of the guest passageway leads into the Main Salon. To starboard is a cozy seating area with a Hi-Lo 64-inch TV built into a cabinet. In the forward starboard corner of the salon area is a doorway that leads into the Spa, Massage Room. This room with soft furnishings is equipped with an Oak works massage table, for optimum comfort and relaxation. With a fully fitted bathroom with stall shower, WC and sink, all finished in rich polished marble, making this a calming space for guest to retreat in.

On the port side of the main salon is the Bar area with a large onyx bar with 5 bar stools for evening cocktails or casual dinner. Large storage cabinets located aft for all glassware and table services. Forward of the bar area is a discreet door that leads into the main deck pantry, which also has direct access to the crew stairway. This pantry is fully equipped with a sink, microwave, fridge and ice maker, with great countertop space to ensure efficient service.

Aft doors from the salon lead out to the aft deck area. To both sides, the staircases lead up to the upper dining deck. In the alcove is a discreet day head. Both port and starboard sides have a gate installed that can be opened and fitted with the Marquip side boarding ladder. A central passageway leads to the lower aft deck, which is fitted out with large guest seating areas to port and starboard that both have coffee tables and is an ideal area to have sundowners close to the water. The central stairs lead down to the large bathing platform, giving easy access to the water and indeed to and from the tenders. A transom door leads into a beach club area with shower and sauna for guests to enjoy. The water sports equipment is also stored in here.

There is a large hydraulic boarding gangway on the aft port quarter, which can service both portside-to or stern-to berthing.

POLAR STAR has an imposing presence being a one of a kind expedition motor yacht. This is provided by her ample beam 42' (12.80 m) and huge volume (the real measure of a yacht’s size) which also creates an enormous interior living space. Accordingly, she can accommodate 12 guests in complete spacious comfort with six independent staterooms (4 doubles and two twins), all with ensuite bathrooms. Her full ice class steel hull, with aluminium superstructure, means strength and safety at sea in even trying conditions and the ability to explore the world’s more remote and natural wildernesses.

There are a deck spa pool and Sauna on board. The guest Staterooms are situated up, on her main deck, rather than below decks, affording extra natural light and splendid ocean views. The Owner’s Area has a stateroom, a den and a ‘his and hers’ bathroom. Also, the owner area features a private deck which enables panoramic views forward and on both sides of the yacht and through huge windows. The spa pool is on the owner's deck, to aft, and it holds up to 10 bathers.

Polar Star yacht is about experiencing oceanographic and coastal delights in uncompromising comfort. The superyacht brings capacious outdoor decks aft, forward and also on the Sundeck making for the ideal interaction with the natural environment. These areas provide ample seating for entertaining, open-air dining or lounging and also there are numerous easy access ‘day head’ bathrooms and showers at hand.

Luxury yacht Polar Star's ice class hull allows access to all the world's oceans, including some areas in the Arctic and Antarctic which have been till recently outside the scope of private yachts. A preference for cruising remote and unfashionable cruising regions explains the fact that the Crew Accommodation Area (seven cabins in all, plus crew lounge) is located centrally rather than in the crew's traditional place way up forward, where the ship's motion underway offers no respite from the violence of heavy seas. For ease of access by chef and assistants, the ship's galley is located on the same deck as the crew cabins.

There is a tank Deck which has a generous storage space, industrial grade freezer and refrigeration rooms and laundry room, chill room and garbage storage compartment – all necessary for long range and remote exploratory cruising. She has a high-quality bi-level engine room with control room and large machinery compartments. Her stern garage holds water toys and marine equipment like jet skis, wave runners, and kayaks as well as adjacent compartments for fishing gear. A custom built dive compressor can charge five tanks simultaneously. The yacht also has a gym, at anchor zero speed stabilizers, a 30' Naiad tender Inflatable and a 30' Centre Console tender with twin outboards.

An extensive refit in 2011 with upgraded AV and IT system, outdoor cinema on the sundeck; new upholstered furniture, new carpets, in addition to new Yamaha Wave runners and toys and increased stabilizer size for 40% better stability at anchor. Boasting magnificent deck spaces and a super friendly and efficient crew, Polar Star is truly an amazing and one-of-a-kind vessel!

Completed Lurssen Yacht POLAR STAR

Originally built for the owner one of the largest commercial fishing fleets in the world, the 208′ (63.4m) Lurssen POLAR STAR is full Lloyd’s Ice Class as the owner envisioned cruising around all of the world’s oceans.

The owner originally intended to build the yacht at a commercial shipyard in Eastern Europe. It was only after he meeting Robert Moran, and being convinced that the true value of a yacht could only be achieved by building her at a quality shipyard, that he decided to build her at Lurssen.

In the owner’s own words, “I would not build a yacht without the involvement of Moran Yacht & Ship even though I have a huge amount of naval architects that work for me on a daily basis.” As proof, Moran Yacht & Ship already built his new vessel, NORTHERN STAR.

Moran Yacht & Ship negotiated the build contract for POLAR STAR, wrote the technical specifications and managed the entire build process for the vessel. Our team was by the owner’s side from concept well through completion.

The POLAR STAR yacht is a stunning superyacht that was built in 2005 undergoing a major refit in 2016.

She measures 63.4 meters and was built by world-renowned Lurssen while her exquisite design was the work of Monaco’s Espen Oeino.

The interior of the POLAR STAR yacht has been designed to comfortably accommodate 12 guests spread across 6 different suites all with ensuite bathrooms (4 of which are doubles and 2 which are twins).

In order to cater to the guests, the POLAR STAR yacht has a dedicated crew of 19 including the captain.

Although POLAR STAR is privately owned and a lot of the interior layout is a mystery it is reported that she has an indoor Gym, a cinema, and a massage room.

Specifications

With a length of 63.4 meters, POLAR STAR has a beam of 12.8m while her draft is 3.7 meters giving her an impressive 1,495-ton volume.

Two Caterpillar engines power which results in a maximum speed of 15 knots while her comfortable cruising speed is approximately 12 knots.

To fuel her journey she has 215,200 liters of fuel in addition to 25,600 liters of water.

POLAR STAR is comprised of six different levels giving her optimal space throughout.

Capable of navigating across the world she has a swimming platform as well as a spa and a vast selection of water toys.

POLAR STAR has a steel hull and aluminum superstructure providing stability and most importantly safety while exploring even the most remote destinations around the world.

PRESENTING POLAR STAR

German shipyard Lurssen Yachts is known for building the largest yachts, and motor yacht POLAR STAR is a shining example of that heritage. This German-built superyacht is actually an ice-classed expedition vessel, but don’t let that fool you. Traditional luxury touches are abundant onboard Lurssen yacht POLAR STAR, and this mighty steel-hulled vessel is just as suitable for cruising the Mediterranean as the Antarctic.

As with many Lurssen vessels, M/Y POLAR STAR features an exterior design by Espen Oeino, with interiors by Pauline Nunns. Whereas most yachts of this size have four decks, the 208-foot yacht is composed of six levels, resulting in spacious areas both topside and belowdecks, for total guest comfort. Large entertainment areas on the outdoor decks both forward and aft are designed for alfresco dining and lounging in sun or shade. Active guests can use the bridge deck gym, then soak sore muscles in the adjacent 10 person spa-pool, or relax at the wet bar.

Decorations are by Serena Williams-Ellis. They evoke a theme best described as a country-French house, with fireplace, antiques, and hand-painted murals. There are six cabins for charterers, including an owner’s suite, VIP cabin; two King staterooms; and two twin cabins. The owner’s suite is located on the upper deck, and it offers a den, his and her bathrooms, and panoramic views. While most yachts position the guest cabins on a lower deck, this yacht’s guest staterooms are located on the main deck.

In a further unique twist, the VIP cabin is located on the lower deck, for total privacy.

The yacht has two Caterpillar 3512B engines.  She reaches a top speed of 15 knots. Important to note, the yacht boasts an astonishing range of 6,000 nautical miles at a speed of 12 knots.

WATER SPORTS TOYS

A large inventory of water toys is available for non-stop activities and entertainment. Some of the toys include tenders, jet skis, wave runners, kayaks, dive equipment for certified divers, and assorted fishing equipment. Look for this yacht in the Mediterranean in summer and in service as a St. Martin yacht charter vessel in the winter.

65m Lürssen explorer yacht Polar Star now a joint central agency

The 65.2-metre Polar Star is now listed with Merle Wood of Merle Wood & Associates after a year on the market with Paul Moran, Lidia Tsareva and Vladimir Tupikov of Eastwind Yachts .

Built by Lürssen in 2005, the steel and aluminium explorer motor yacht was designed by Espen Øino . She has an ice-class hull, giving her access to remote parts of the world not typically frequented by most yachts.

Polar Star underwent an extensive refit in 2016 and has been continuously upgraded, including a full repaint by Pinmar in 2021. The broker said that "her new interior gives off a feeling of comfortable sophistication, with soft ocean tones throughout the ship."

Accommodation is for 12 guests in five cabins. The owner's cabin offers spectacular views and enjoys its own lounge for added privacy during extended cruising. The original interior design was by Pauline Nunns with a subsequent interior refit overseen by FM Architettura d’Interni.

During her 2016 refit, the hexagonal spa pool was replaced with a more practical rectangular, glass-fronted one, flanked by large sunpads, while a guest office was remodelled into a massage room.

The aft platform had also been extended by two metres and is large enough for guests to safely spill out onto from the sauna. Up top, the sundeck's hardtop was replaced with one made from carbon fibre, promising a weight reduction.

There are quarters for a crew of up to 20. The 1,495GT explorer yacht for sale has a 7,000-nautical-mile range with twin CAT 1,379kW engines pushing her up to a cruising speed of 14 knots and top speed of 15.5 knots. Polar Star completed her 15-year survey in 2020, when the generators and main engines had a complete rebuild.

Polar Star's asking price is now €54,000,000 (VAT paid). She is lying in Barcelona, Spain.

L'ultimo superyacht davanti alla costa di Ostia, ammirato dai bagnanti a riva 

Davanti alla costa di Ostia, oggi sabato 7 settembre, è apparso un nuovo superyacht. Immediatamente si è scatenata la curiosità dei bagnanti riguardo questa lussuosa imbarcazione visibile nello specchio d’acqua antistante il Porto turistico di Roma. Ma quali sono le sue caratteristiche?

Quello che si vede dalla costa di Ostia è il superyacht Polar Star. E’ stato costruito da Lurssen in Germania , cantiere navale che si trova a Rendsburg. La consegna al suo proprietario è avvenuta nel 2005 ma poi è stato ristrutturato successivamente.

I suoi interni di lusso possono arrivare ad ospitare fino a 10 persone disposte in 5 cabine, tra master suite e cabine doppie e può imbarcare fino a 19 membri di equipaggio in 9 cabine. Gli interni originali erano stati realizzati da Pauline Nunns ma poi vi fu la ristrutturazione di FM Architettura d’Interni.

Raggiunge una velocità massima di 15 nod i e ha uno scafo dislocante in acciaio con sovrastruttura in alluminio. I ponti sono in teak.

Si tratta dell’ultimo avvistamento. Il 3 settembre, nella stessa zona, era arrivato Fantasea, uno yacht di 50 metri, costruito da Benetti su progetto RWD, capolavoro di lusso e ingegneria navale, in grado di ospitare fino a 12 persone più dieci di equipaggio .

E poi i tanti superyacht, di persone famose, imprenditori, armatori. Da Zuckerberg   allo  splendido yacht progettato per Steve Jobs . Poi è arrivato   Okto, yacht da 50 milioni di dollari . Per non parlare dell’apparizione di   Madonna sul Pink Shadow , di proprietà del re delle protesi ortopediche,  che ha regalato un’emozione a non finire in chi ha avuto la fortuna di vedersela comparire davanti.
