“The seduction of sweet life flowing on the water.”

The 66M GT M/Y OKTO was launched in 2014 by ISA Yachts . A true game changer, OKTO has raised the bar in superyacht design and engineering. Fusing the upmost expertise, creativity and serenity, she exceeds all expectations.

OKTO is certainly a sight to behold. On top of her jet black steel hull with its piercing bow sits a sleek, sparkling superstructure and this striking profile is only the start of her appeal. A large pool for salt or fresh water on the main deck aft is bound to become the hub of any vacation while the bridge deck aft abounds with space for alfresco dining, lounging and socializing with fellow guests. A secluded sun deck, meanwhile, with a Jacuzzi and sunning options provides a more intimate escape.

One of the last projects the late designer Alberto Pinto worked on, OKTO boasts a harmonious continuity between inside and outdoors. On the main deck, five-metre-wide glass doors slide open into an opulent salon. Pale furniture, lacquered surfaces and stainless steel structural detail flow from one space to the next while natural light floods in through huge windows. Visually striking, the grand ambiance and extraordinary comfort of this space continues throughout the whole motor yacht.

Powered by 2 CAT engines, this 66M can reach 18 knots max and cruises at 16 knots. With 5 cabins plus the master, it accommodates 12 guests.

Vitruvius M/Y 66m

The Vitruvius team has developed this 66 metre yacht as the bigger version of the 58m Najiba. Her purity of lines and sleek transparency make this a stunning addition to the Vitruvius family. The scale up at 66m with a generous beam of 12m, creates a very spacious interior space with an elegant luminosity as it glides along the water.

In this version designed by the Vitruvius teams, the aft of the yacht shelters a large beach club, open to the sea with a 6m wide transom door. Next to the beach club is a Spa area with a sauna. The owner’s cabin is 11m wide creating a spacious sanctuary.

The motorisation could be “diesel/electric” and is designed using the best cutting edge technology . Philippe Briand has designed one of his best hulls, which will be made of steel, to get this superyacht into the category of the most efficient and hence greener superyacht of the next decade.

Above, the Owner's deck can be used privately or shared with other guests and contains a variety of seating arrangements to suit the occasion, from early morning coffee to games, dining and sunbathing.

The vast foredeck in front of the Owner's suite can be used as a private terrace where guests can enjoy outdoor tranquillity while sunbathing, dining or spending time with hobbies on the sofa.

The bridge deck aft has a large circular alfresco dining table to seat up to 10 guests within the shade of the sundeck overhang. Stern-side seating ensures that guests have plenty of opportunities to remain outside to take in the incredible locations and ceiling lighting will ensure that meals and conversation can continue late into the night.

Vitruvius Yachts

Introducing alchemy, rossinavi’s 66m vitruvius superyacht alchemy launched..

Alchemy is an elegant 66m tri-deck motor yacht commissioned by a private client who has very much been involved in every aspect of the design project and has commissioned this with a brief to focus on the design of the outdoor areas and wellness aspects of the yacht.

Alchemy, was born from a fruitful collaboration between the Italian shipyard Rossinavi and Philippe Briand, Founder of Vitruvius Yachts, who is responsible for the exterior design of the vessel. Also, Rossinavi and Briand, collaboratively developed the naval architecture of Alchemy.

I was very lucky to meet this owner, who guided and empowered the entire team involved in the creation of his superyacht. A real "Alchemy", as the name evokes, a combination of elements, which leads to an original and refined result: a streamlined and elegant 3 deck vessel, 66m long, that fits perfectly with what Vitruvius Yachts represents.

Lessons to learn from Goldman Sachs seizing 66m superyacht 'Natita'

In light of goldman sachs seizing william kallop's 66m superyacht natita, we explore the risks that banks face when lending against superyachts.….

Image for article Lessons to learn from Goldman Sachs seizing 66m superyacht 'Natita'

Following the news that William Kallop, the American oil mogul, has had his 66m Oceanco-built superyacht, motoryacht Natita, seized by the US branch of Goldman Sachs, we explore whether or not there are lessons to be learned beyond the wisdom that it is always a good idea to repay debts owed to powerful financial institutions. Natita is one of three superyachts owned by Kallop, the other two being 57m motoryacht Bad Girl and a 28m vessel previously used by John F. Kenny, former president of the United States.

The story begins with Kallop borrowing $32 million from Goldman Sachs against Natita and Bad Girl. This form of borrowing, often referred to as a ‘wealth loan’, is becoming increasingly popular with the world’s super rich. Do you want to add a fifth mega-mansion to your portfolio, but your cash is tied up in assets? Why not lend money from a bank against your Picasso, classic Ferrari or superyacht as a security?

According to Goldman Sachs, in November 2016, with $28 million still to pay, Kallop stopped financing the repayments of his loan, eventually leading him to default on the loan and cause Goldman Sachs to take legal action. Upon filing a suit with the Miami federal court, Natita was seized at a marina in West Palm Beach. Three of Natita’s crewmembers were also victorious in the court of law, earning $90,000 in back pay from their time on board.

Natita was then put on the market for an asking price of $57.5 million, only to have her priced reduced to $52 million that very same year. Subsequently, Natita has undergone a series of price reductions that have left her at the current asking price of $39.9 million, with no takers. The wider media has speculated that Natita will, most likely, be put up for auction.

It is easy to see why banks are becoming increasingly attracted to wealth loans. If the loan period proves to be successful, the financial institution turns a healthy profit, as with a traditional loan, as well as managing to please, and retain the custom of, an extremely wealthy individual. Equally, if the borrower reneges on the agreement the lender may be left with an asset that is far more valuable than the sum of the remaining loan. However, superyachts are not classic cars, art or jewellery and, more so than the former, estimations of value and realistic resale periods can be, at best, contestable.

“For the banks, the risk of superyacht lending is the fact that valuations can be somewhat of a dark art,” explains Leon Batchelor, managing director of Arc&Co. Marine & Aviation. “Nobody really knows what the value of a yacht is – its value is whatever someone will pay for it. That’s why a lot of banks restrict what they will lend against to a specific number of shipyards. So, from the banks’ perspective, the amortisation of the loan may not be quick enough to keep pace with depreciation.

“Secondly, the superyachts are movable assets. Lending against a superyacht will require a certain degree of compliance on the part of the borrower. The banks will be concerned that the vessel could be moved to a jurisdiction within which it becomes impossible to get hold of. The bank will need to limit where the yacht can be used.”

It would be remiss of me to claim that loaning against luxury securities in general does not carry an element of risk. But, unlike other assets, it is extremely rare for a superyacht to appreciate in value – the longer you sit on a yacht ,the less it is worth – and the yearly costs of attempting to stop a vessel from falling into disrepair can be significant. Superyachts, at the end of the day, are loss-making assets apart from the lucky few and, as such, may not necessarily be the most suitable of assets to lend against.

That being said, with only $28 million still to recoup on the loan and a current asking price of $39.9 million, Goldman Sachs is still able to profit substantially from the collapse of the initial agreement. However, sources close to the sale of the vessel have suggested that Natita is proving difficult to sell, partly due to its poor condition, and partly due to its physical makeup. With a draft of five metres, Natita is unsuitable for the US’ most desirable anchorages and her unique canoe stern profile is not exactly the flavour of the month. Her deep draft suggests that the best market for Natita would most likely be Europe. But, yet again, getting her there will incur a significant cost.

Still, all it takes is one wealthy individual to take a fancy and the Natita nightmare becomes a fairy tale, for all accept William Kallop.

The ultimate man cave? Inside 66m superyacht shadow boat Hodor

  • Superyachts

This cavernous support vessel can carry up to five tenders, as well as jet skis, quad bikes, helicopters and submarines

What do you do when your 87m Feadship can’t fit all your toys on board? Build a 66m shadow boat to carry them of course!

Launched this week by Spanish yard Astilleros Armón and designed by multihull specialist Incat Crowther, Hodor is the latest member of a growing global fleet of superyacht support vessels.

The owner clearly has a need for speed, as the pictures above show an impressive array of rapid toys, from a 56ft chase boat packing four Seven Marine outboards on the transom to what looks like a Fountain 32 Thundercat.

That’s just the tip of the iceberg, however, as Hodor can also carry a further three tenders, a submarine and a Eurocopter 145, not to mention jet skis and quad bikes galore.

Hodor is no slouch either, with a top speed of 22.5 knots – enough to overtake the mothership so that the 20-strong crew can set up all the toys in the next secluded anchorage via the four built-in davits.

When the owner and his chums tire of charging around at top speed, they can explore underwater, as Hodor has a fully-equipped dive store, complete with Nitrox and O2 compression facilities.
