Thoroughly disgusted with the service at this place. Server was clueless, disorganized, and inattentive. That's just the tip of the iceberg. It took over an hour to get our food and almost that long to get drinks. On to the main event - a group of rude idiots, one absolutely horrendous a-hole specifically, RUINED the entire show. I cannot imagine how miserable of a person you have to be completely trash everyone's evening. The management of this place did NOTHING to control the situation and literally allowed it to happen. I guarantee we will never return to this place and I'll make sure to advise everyone else to avoid it also.
We had a great Thanksgiving lunch at this restaurant they had a special Thanksgiving dinner it was great and the price was very low for the amount of food we recieved. Our server was amazing she was very friendly and helpful we sat at their terrace at first but it was too windy when we asked to go I side she was happy to move us inside. The entire staff was friendly and welcoming. I will definitely be back for my next trip to Colonial Beach. You guys ROCK!!!!!
We went to seat ourselves and there wasn't a clean seat in the place. When we saw a busboy cleaning off a table he said it was reserved for someone else. I went to use the bathroom and it smelled like feces and there was a cockroach upside down on the floor surrounded by a lot of tissue. No service, dirty restroom, dirty tables, no seating available. Didn't want to risk eating there and getting sick. If I could I would put 0 stars.
We enjoyed lunch here. Our server, Heather, was so sweet and awesome. The view is beautiful. Would definitely recommend a visit. Both the Virginia and Maryland sides of the restaurant.
Good location, but wish we had gone somewhere else for many reasons.... We went in about brunch time to get a late breakfast. There was ONE PERSON in the whole place (which really should have been a sign...), at the bar drinking margaritas on a Tuesday morning. We ordered Bloody Mary's to start as we looked over the menu. It took 15+ minutes to get them. And they really were not worth the wait or $7. Saying they were mediocre would be over selling them. And I am really unsure if they had alcohol at all, or if it was just tomato juice with a garnish. So we finally get to order, I get Chesapeake Eggs Benedict. I ask if I could have hush puppies with mine instead of home fries, and if they could come out first. Waitress says no problem. 15+ minutes later we get the hush puppies, and the weren't awful. 5+ minutes after that we get our meals. And mine is DEFINITELY not right. There is no crab, no old bay, and the hollandaise sauce is the consistency of mustard. When the waitress finally comes back to check on us, I tell her I don't think mine is right. She then said crab was extra. When I asked how this was a "Chesapeake" eggs Benedict, she looked confused and walked away. She did bring back crab for my meal tho. When we finally get the bill, I am surprised to see there is a $5 charge for hush puppies in Addition to our meals and drinks. I asked the waitress if they came with our meal why were we being charged extra? She said they "would have been more added to the meal, so I saved you money". WTH??? There was no mention of it being an up charge. At this point I was honestly so irritated with the whole experience we just paid the bill and left. I do not recommend this place at all. It was an awful experience and expensive. I really wish we'd gone somewhere else.
The food was mediocre at best. Crab dip and hush puppies were good but the salads were from a bag and the shrimp was delayed due to not being thawed out enough for it to be served when other meals were served. The food was way over priced for the quality. The waitress was nice but I would not recommend eating here.
We came here n Saturday, didn't seem too busy but tables stated they were understaffed... we got crab cakes and flounder but had to wait for our food for an hour. The food was not the best BUT our server was amazing. She was friendly and had smile on her face the whole time.
Enter through the Boardwalk on Colonial Beach, sits over the Potomac River so technically in Maryland. Offers off track betting for horse races and a pretty strong drink at the bar. That's where the enchantment ends with me. All the employees are miserable and are quite vocal about it. Bathrooms were clean but oddly decorated.
Sits in the river, so off track betting and Maryland lottery available.

We're very disappointed to see your review, Dianne. This is certainly not the standard for Riverboat and we'll use your review to improve for the future with our staff. We pride ourselves on great service and food. We hope you will join us again in the future. We're glad you enjoy the drinks and betting. Best, Penny F., Owner
Great location right on the boardwalk with a great view. This is the gambling scene at Potomac Beach. We were there around 9 p.m. during the Potomac River Festival, and it was dead. Perhaps 9 p.m. is too early, but that's when the karaoke was supposed to start. We didn't see any karaoke. It might've been more fun with a group of friends who were drinking and gambling, but for just my sister and me, we weren't impressed. The exterior is really quite an eyesore, too.

Thanks for taking the time to provide us with your feedback, Lisa. We're disappointed to hear that the atmosphere wasn't what you were expecting during your visit. We pride ourselves on being a great place to grab a bite and enjoy some gambling. We don't currently offer karaoke and we're sorry about the miscommunication. We hope you will give us another chance to prove that to you. We're glad to hear you like the boardwalk. Best, Penny F., Owner
The view at the Riverboat is spectacular. I wish I could say the same about the rest of our experience. We visited on a beautiful Saturday afternoon when there was hardly anyone around. The outdoor seating area was great. The weather was gorgeous and the view was to die for. I could have sat there for hours talking in the sights. The food was okay. The seafood was good, as was my Reuben. However, the soup and vegetables tasted like they had come from a can, with the vegetable (green beans) looking pathetic and tasting 'funky.' My wife could not eat them. The price of the vegetables was removed from our bill, but only the waitress apologized. It would have been more appropriate if the manager had come and talked with us. What happened after dinner sealed the deal. My wife used the ladies room and recognized one of the other waitresses also using the facilities. This person left and returned to work without washing her hands. We also noticed this waitress smoking outside the main entrance of the building (less than 25 feet from the front door) upon our arrival. Needless to say, we will not be visiting the Riverboat again.

There is a lovely view from this place. Most users mention that the staff is creative. Service at this spot is something one can call enjoyable. Prices are found adequate here. As many visitors state, the decor is dull. The lovely atmosphere makes a positive impression on people. But google users haven't given this restaurant a high rating.

Boater Todd Langford of Great Falls, Virginia , caught a five-bass limit weighing 18 pounds, 15 ounces, Sunday to win the MLF Phoenix Bass Fishing League (BFL) Presented by T-H Marine Super Tournament on the Potomac River . Hosted by the Charles County Board of Commissioners, the tournament was the fifth and final event of the season for the BFL Northeast Division. Langford earned $7,232, including the lucrative $2,500 Phoenix MLF Contingency Bonus, for his victory.
BFL Super Tournaments are typically two-day events, scheduled in early fall to conclude each BFL division season. In order to make up a previous tournament that was postponed due to unsafe boating divisions, the Northeast Division anglers squared off twice over the weekend at the Potomac River. First, they fished their fourth qualifying event on Saturday – a normal one-day tournament. They then squared off again on Sunday to conclude their season in a shortened one-day Super Tournament.
Langford finished second in Saturday’s Potomac River event with 16 pounds, 4 ounces. He fished more or less the same area and pattern in Sunday’s event. And even though he said the fishing was a little tougher (he caught about half as many fish on Sunday), he managed to get bigger bites, improving his weight and locking down the win.
“I was just fishing heavy matted grass,” he said. “You’ve really got to kind of pinpoint the best areas, and I just got fortunate. I found a couple little hundred-yard stretches that they were on.”
One of the keys, said Langford, was “waiting them out.” In other words: being patient. The fish repositioned within the mats based on the tides and were on the move throughout the tournament. To try to stay on them, Langford worked the mats thoroughly, fishing in the middle and the edges with a punch rig and a frog.
“You had to make them react,” he added. “You could get some bites on a frog, but you had to kind of call them up a little bit.”
The top 10 boaters finished the tournament:
1st: Todd Langford, Great Falls, Va., five bass, 18-15, $7,232 (includes $2,500 Phoenix MLF Contingency Bonus) 2nd: Aaron Dixon, Bel Alton, Md., five bass, 18-9, $2,366 3rd: Tom Bateman, Welcome, Md., five bass, 16-14, $1,577 4th: Michael Ortel, Stewartstown, Pa., five bass, 15-11, $1,229 5th: Joseph Thompson, Coatesville, Pa., five bass, 15-4, $946 6th: Fred Aldridge, Brandy Station, Va., five bass, 13-14, $868 7th: John Duarte, Middle River, Md., five bass, 13-14, $1,089 8th: Jarrett Kuipers, Oakland, N.H., five bass, 13-14 , $710 9th: Spencer Cookson, Sheffield, Mass., five bass, 13-7, $631 10th: Robert Grike, Dumfries, Va., five bass, 12-15, $552
