The Radisson boat tour is a pleasant way to see the main attractions of Moscow from the board of a luxurious Radisson yacht. Our guide will take you to the boat from your hotel and will compliment your cruise with breathtaking stories.

Hotel pick-up.

Our guide will come to your hotel (lobby area) or any other indicated address to begin the tour from there. If you stay outside of the city area, we will offer you alternative meeting options. We will use the metro (tickets are included) to take you to the cruise starting point.

The world famous park is also the most popular among Moscow citizens and city guests. Gorky Park was built in the Soviet times, but now it experiences its second youth as it has been recently renovated. A number of trendy restaurants, street food kiosks, sport playgrounds found their place in this cozy park. And this is actually the place where we embark and disembark.

Radisson Yacht

Radisson Yachts are modern, safe, comfortable and luxurious. There is a saloon with panoramic windows but also an open deck. You can order food and drinks in their onboard restaurant, if you wish. The yachts operate 365 days a year, even when the Moskva river gets frozen (yes, those yachts are icebreakers!).

Christ the Savior Cathedral

The main Russian Cathedral is situated on the bank of the Moskva River. With an overall height of 105 metres (344 ft), it is the tallest Orthodox church in the world. The Cathedral looks very nice from water: you may see the reflection of the golden domes on the water.

Monument of Peter the Great and the Red October district

Dominating the landscape, this controversial monument of Peter the Great stays right in the river and reminds us of the bright times of the Russian Navy. The “Red October” used to be the territory of the leading Soviet chocolate factory (which has moved now). It is a popular urban area now, that hosts clubs, restaurants and galleries.

The Kremlin

The legendary fortress is of course the well-known symbol of Moscow and Russia. The active residence of Russian President and the birthplace of the Russian Statehood. Should we mention that the whole complex is protected by UNESCO World Heritage organization. You will have a great opportunity to take amazing pictures from the open deck of the yacht.

St Basil Cathedral

This orthodox cathedral has the world-wide fame and is one of the most popular sights in Russia. The vivid colors of its domes together with the unique decoration style will impress your imagination. Our guide will tell you the most interesting stories and facts about this remarkable building.

Stalin’s Skyscraper

Kotelnicheskaya Embankment Building is one of the so called “Seven Sisters” , which are also called Stalin’s skyscrapers. They all were built during the post war years, all projects are unique although they have similar architectural style.

This is a round trip. The yacht will return to the starting point in Gorky Park. And our guide will take you back to your hotel.

Watch: Van der Valk launches 34m custom motor yacht One

Dutch shipyard Van der Valk has launched its custom, 34.1-metre motor yacht named One . The superyacht will soon undergo final outfitting works ahead of her trials in the North Sea.

Previously known as Project 111.11, One was commissioned by experienced owners who have spent more than three decades on the water. They have been heavily involved with the design process, with Guido de Groot responsible for the functional exterior design and Carla Guilhem taking charge of the interior.

The owners initially requested a slightly larger yacht from the shipyard, but a compromise was reached to hit "Van der Valk’s sweet spot for a slightly smaller size". Van der Valk’s head of sales, Yoeri Bijker, explained that the owners’ brief was to "blend their own design with a proven hull form".

The result is a full displacement superyacht utilising the same hull design of award-winning Lady Lene , which acts as a platform for a fully custom superstructure with four decks.

Defined by its straight lines, One showcases forward facing angles and has large windows on the lower deck. Lowered bulwarks allow light to flood the vessel and provide panoramic views.

Accommodation is for a party of up to 10 across five staterooms, including a full-beam master on the main deck with a walk-in wardrobe. The style has evolved since the initial plans, "shift[ing] away from organic shapes and towards imperfect geometric forms", according to Guilhem.

"We have opted for a futuristic feel with super-smooth rounded shapes and a monochrome look with trims and frames that emphasise the neutral colours," she added.

The configuration revolves around entertaining large groups of people and therefore features a skylounge, a main deck saloon and a multifunctional beach club-cum-sports-garage.

In order to free up space in the aft area, a chase boat, rather than an onboard tender, will accompany the vessel. This provides space for a fold-out platform and a lazarette area with room to store Jet Skis and a gym.

Power derives from a pair of Volvo Penta 750hp engines for a top speed of 14.4 knots.

The shipyard recently won a World Superyacht Award for the 33.7-metre Blue Jeans .

Cruising the Moskva River: A short guide to boat trips in Russia’s capital

There’s hardly a better way to absorb Moscow’s atmosphere than on a ship sailing up and down the Moskva River. While complicated ticketing, loud music and chilling winds might dampen the anticipated fun, this checklist will help you to enjoy the scenic views and not fall into common tourist traps.

How to find the right boat?

There are plenty of boats and selecting the right one might be challenging. The size of the boat should be your main criteria.

Plenty of small boats cruise the Moskva River, and the most vivid one is this yellow Lay’s-branded boat. Everyone who has ever visited Moscow probably has seen it.

This option might leave a passenger disembarking partially deaf as the merciless Russian pop music blasts onboard. A free spirit, however, will find partying on such a vessel to be an unforgettable and authentic experience that’s almost a metaphor for life in modern Russia: too loud, and sometimes too welcoming. Tickets start at $13 (800 rubles) per person.

Bigger boats offer smoother sailing and tend to attract foreign visitors because of their distinct Soviet aura. Indeed, many of the older vessels must have seen better days. They are still afloat, however, and getting aboard is a unique ‘cultural’ experience. Sometimes the crew might offer lunch or dinner to passengers, but this option must be purchased with the ticket. Here is one such  option  offering dinner for $24 (1,490 rubles).

If you want to travel in style, consider Flotilla Radisson. These large, modern vessels are quite posh, with a cozy restaurant and an attentive crew at your service. Even though the selection of wines and food is modest, these vessels are still much better than other boats.

Surprisingly, the luxurious boats are priced rather modestly, and a single ticket goes for $17-$32 (1,100-2,000 rubles); also expect a reasonable restaurant bill on top.

How to buy tickets?

Women holding photos of ships promise huge discounts to “the young and beautiful,” and give personal invitations for river tours. They sound and look nice, but there’s a small catch: their ticket prices are usually more than those purchased online.

“We bought tickets from street hawkers for 900 rubles each, only to later discover that the other passengers bought their tickets twice as cheap!”  wrote  (in Russian) a disappointed Rostislav on a travel company website.

Nevertheless, buying from street hawkers has one considerable advantage: they personally escort you to the vessel so that you don’t waste time looking for the boat on your own.

Prices start at $13 (800 rubles) for one ride, and for an additional $6.5 (400 rubles) you can purchase an unlimited number of tours on the same boat on any given day.

Flotilla Radisson has official ticket offices at Gorky Park and Hotel Ukraine, but they’re often sold out.

Buying online is an option that might save some cash. Websites such as  this   offer considerable discounts for tickets sold online. On a busy Friday night an online purchase might be the only chance to get a ticket on a Flotilla Radisson boat.

This  website  (in Russian) offers multiple options for short river cruises in and around the city center, including offbeat options such as ‘disco cruises’ and ‘children cruises.’ This other  website  sells tickets online, but doesn’t have an English version. The interface is intuitive, however.

Buying tickets online has its bad points, however. The most common is confusing which pier you should go to and missing your river tour.

“I once bought tickets online to save with the discount that the website offered,” said Igor Shvarkin from Moscow. “The pier was initially marked as ‘Park Kultury,’ but when I arrived it wasn’t easy to find my boat because there were too many there. My guests had to walk a considerable distance before I finally found the vessel that accepted my tickets purchased online,” said the man.

There are two main boarding piers in the city center:  Hotel Ukraine  and  Park Kultury . Always take note of your particular berth when buying tickets online.

Where to sit onboard?

Even on a warm day, the headwind might be chilly for passengers on deck. Make sure you have warm clothes, or that the crew has blankets ready upon request.

The glass-encased hold makes the tour much more comfortable, but not at the expense of having an enjoyable experience.

Getting off the boat requires preparation as well. Ideally, you should be able to disembark on any pier along the way. In reality, passengers never know where the boat’s captain will make the next stop. Street hawkers often tell passengers in advance where they’ll be able to disembark. If you buy tickets online then you’ll have to research it yourself.

There’s a chance that the captain won’t make any stops at all and will take you back to where the tour began, which is the case with Flotilla Radisson. The safest option is to automatically expect that you’ll return to the pier where you started.

$1 million, 80-foot luxury Sunseeker Atlantis yacht sinks off Florida coast. Photos, what we know

Two people were rescued off the Florida coast Saturday when an 80-foot luxury sports yacht began sinking according to a release from the U.S. Coast Guard in Jacksonville.

Unlike other recent incidents in other parts of the world, no orcas were involved in this yacht going down. The operator reported that the boat hit something in the water.

At 11:37 a.m. the operator of the yacht radioed that they were taking on water three miles off the coast of St. Augustine Beach. Multiple agencies responded, the Coast Guard said.

When marine units from St. Johns Sheriff's Office and St. Augustine Police Department arrived, the boat was already partially submerged. Two people were safely removed.

“We extend our heartfelt gratitude to our partner agencies for their invaluable assistance during this case," said U.S. Coast Guard Senior Chief Petty Officer Ricardo Santacana. “With the weather improving and mariners heading out onto the water, it's imperative for everyone to verify the presence of all necessary safety equipment aboard their vessel. This ensures that responders, as demonstrated in this case, can swiftly locate you and render assistance when an emergency arises.”

According to the operator of the boat, it struck something.

St. Johns County Fire Rescue reported it was a dredge pipe piling and a photo of the piling shows a bent sign.

One person suffered minor injuries and was taken to a local hospital in stable condition, St. Johns County Fire Rescue said in a Facebook post .

What kind of yacht sank off the St. Augustine Beach coast?

The boat appears to be a Sunseeker Atlantis , built in the United Kingdom and delivered in 1999, according to Boat International.

The motor yacht is one of 21 Predator 80 models. It has two Caterpillar diesel engines, a top speed of 45 knots and a cruising speed of 40 knots, with room for up to six guests in three staterooms, plus two crewmembers.

The yacht was designed by naval architect Don Shead, with interiors from designer Ken Freivokh, Boat International said. Similar Sunseeker Predator 80 yachts have been listed for around $1 million.

What will happen to the Sunseeker yacht Atlantis?

A hazard has been issued to alert others of the partially submerged vessel.

The owner of the boat will arrange salvage and the cause of the incident is under investigation, the Coast Guard said.

Scientists May Have Figured Out Why the Yacht-Sinking Orcas Keep Attacking Boats

Unless you've lived under a proverbial rock, you've definitely heard about the yacht-sinking killer whales. Over the past several years, a pod of orcas swimming through the Strait of Gibraltar and the Iberian Strait has attacked hundreds of boats off the coasts of Spain, Portugal, France, and Morocco, successfully sinking several of them. 

Some scientists originally theorized that a female whale might have taught her pod to attack the boats after a traumatic encounter. Online, many people believed that these orcas were finally rising up against the human invaders in their waters, taking out yachts one by one. But now, a new report suggests that the real answer might just be... none of the above?

What if the yacht-sinking orcas aren't out for revenge, or enacting a revolutionary campaign against the luxury yacht owners in their waters? What if- and bear with me here- they're just being silly little guys? According to Good Morning America , that's what this recent report from the International Whaling Commission appears to suggest.

When Roughhousing Goes Too Far

Just like teenagers that get a little too worked up and rowdy, the IWC study suggests that these crazy killer whales are just kids roughhousing a little too hard. Some whales appear to enjoy playing with boat rudders, and apparently, the game caught on among other orcas as a "fad." Yep- just like human teenagers follow weird TikTok trends , youthful orcas follow their own kinds of fads. Such is life. 

While the new IWC study gives extra credence to the "playful fad" theory, some scientists have suspected this might be the case since last year. In June 2023, Deborah Giles told Vice that some orcas grab onto each other's dorsal fins to play or catch a ride. She noted that many of the boats the orcas targeted had fin-like keels, and hypothesized that they were emulating play behavior during their "attacks."

According to biologist Alex Zerbini, who helmed the IWC study, other observations of orcas have bolstered this play theory. Zerbini told USA Today that most of the documented boat "attacks" have involved " playful and courageous " juveniles, and documented evidence exists of the rowdy young orcas playing with the rudder pieces after they'd ripped them off of the boats. 

OK, great- so the orcas probably aren't out for revenge, which would be comforting, except that they're still sinking boats out in the Strait of Gibraltar. They literally just sunk another yacht near Morocco on May 12! So, playful fad or not, it's still a problem for the people who sail in their territory. 

Scientists hope that these "purposeless, silly behaviors" will eventually fade, as all fads do. In the meantime, Good Morning America reports that sailors are using preventative measures like tracking the whales' locations, using acoustic deterrents, and making the rudders look less appealing in the hopes of speeding up that process. Coast Guard rescues 8 clinging to cooler after boat capsizes off Boca Grande, Florida coast

The U.S. Coast Guard rescued 7 adults and one child Saturday after the 28-foot boat they were on capsized 36 miles west of Boca Grande, off the Southwest Florida coast.

According to the Coast Guard , the boaters sent a distress call reporting their boat was sinking and activated an emergency position indicating radio beacon.

A Coast Guard Jayhawk helicopter was dispatched and zeroed in on the signal of one of the boaters' personal locator beacons, spotted the device's strobe lights and found all eight wearing life jackets while clinging to a cooler.

The aircrew hoisted the boaters from the water onto the helicopter and took them to emergency medical services at the Venice Municipal Airport. No injuries were reported, according to the Coast Guard.

"The boaters in distress carried close to every piece of lifesaving equipment we encourage the public to carry onboard their vessel,” U.S. Coast Guard Petty Officer 3rd Class Santiago Gomez said .

“Life jackets, an EPIRB, a PLB, visual signaling devices and a marine grade radio with VHF-FM channel 16 improve our Coast Guard crews’ abilities to locate mariners in distress and increase the chances of a positive outcome to bring them safely home. Today marks the beginning of the 2024 Atlantic Hurricane Season , and these safe boating practices make a difference year-round.”

80-foot luxury yacht sinks off Florida coast 1 week earlier

Two people were rescued off the Florida coast one week earlier, when the 80-foot yacht they were on sank 3 miles off the St. Augustine Beach coast May 26.

The $1 million luxury vessel reportedly struck a dredge pipe piling and began taking on water.

One person was injured and the boat's owner will be responsible for arranging salvage.

Where is Boca Grande, Florida?

Boca Grande is an affluent coastal community on Gasparilla Island, northwest of Fort Myers in the Gulf of Mexico.

It sits just north of the barrier island of Cayo Costa, where Hurricane Ian made landfall on Sept. 28, 2022.

Boca Grande is known for its white sand beaches , turquoise waters, fishing and state parks.

Boating accidents in Florida

Florida led the nation in registered boats , with 1,035,911 registered in 2023, according to a Florida Fish and Wildlife report.

Collisions with fixed objects were named as the leading cause in 659 boating accidents reported in Florida in 2023. The accidents resulted in 56 fatalities.

More recently, 15-year-old  Ella Riley Adler was struck and killed by a boat in a hit-and-run  while wakeboarding in Key Biscayne on May 11, 2024.

The  driver of the boat was later identified as 78-year-old Carlos Guillermo Alonso , of Coral Gables. Alonso's attorney told USA TODAY he did not know he struck anyone on the water.

Kevin Costner Has ‘Knocked on Every Boat in Cannes’ to Help Finance Third ‘Horizon’ Movie: ‘Come Get Your Checkbook Out. Let’s Talk Money!’

Kevin Costner got candid about partly self-financing his new movie, “ Horizon: An American Saga ,” at a Cannes Film Festival press conference on Monday.

Costner put much of his own fortune into making the $100 million-plus film, including mortgaging his ranch. He directs and stars in the film, which he also produced and co-wrote.

When asked about his struggle to finance the film, Costner said, “I don’t know why it was so hard.”

Costner was also asked his view on racism in America. “I’m conscious of race. I live in a place called Compton, Calif. I funded a movie called ‘Black or White,'” he said. “It was my version of a level of racism that exists in our country.”

Regarding the representation of Native people in “Horizon” and why he didn’t tell the story from their perspective, Costner said, “The movie is a journey. It’s not a plot movie, and the Native Americans are represented. I don’t feel the need to try to balance the story. I just try to make it as real as I can.” 

At its premiere on Sunday night, “Horizon” earned a seven-minute standing ovation as Costner grew visibly emotional.

The film, a two-part look at the expansion of the American west, is told from the prospective of the cattle ranchers, farmers and soldiers building a future for themselves in the region, as well as the Natives who lived there first.
