The love and passion that these 6 pro musicians have for the genre of smooth music is legendary.  It certainly drives our show.  In addition, it’s what our fans resonate with.  And it’s exactly that passion that keeps everybody coming back for more.  Moreover, we take great pride in the fact that the venues, the fans, and even former fans of other yacht rock tribute bands recognize that we are in the conversation of only two bands nationwide:  Yacht Rock Revue and Us !   What great company.

Yacht Rock Shows

Our concert at the NAMM show in Anaheim in January kicked off a pretty hot 2024.  In fact, the Virgin Cruise we took to the Caribbean wasn’t a bad way to turn the corner on a new year.  Another SOLD OUT gig at Venice West in February and our trip to the Houston Rodeo were epic.  We returned to the Catholic School Fundraiser circuit where we hit 5 super fun fundraisers in two months.  Anytime we can play the Ritz Carlton Marina del Rey for a couple weeks in a row is awesome.  We are still feeling the effects of the rain out at Hangar 24 in March.  Alas, we will return for another concert in November though!  Sadly, the keytar is still in the shop hopefully fixed from the rain damage soon!

After travels to Paso Robles and Laughlin, we had a triumphant return to Sea Legs April 6!  April showers gave way to a beautiful sunny day for this yacht rock cover band at Sea Legs.  In fact, we debuted a new tune for super fan Ryan Glover:  ROCK THE BOAT!  Another killer show on the beach.  Then, just last week we performed 5 shows in 8 days.  It is pretty true that year over year, we are probably the most prolific Yacht Rock Cover Band.  Ultimately, this year will look to be in the 80 shows range again.  This week we celebrate Brett Cassel and his 50th birthday in Dana Point.  Then we ship off for Mission Viejo Country Club for the Tilly’s Life fundraiser.

Looking forward, Yachty by Nature returns to Tiki Bar on May 3 and the Coach House on May 31.  Memorial Day will feature a Monday concert at the USS Iowa for Fleet Week.  Additionally, we just booked June 1 in Las Vegas at the Sahara Pool.  Stay tuned for the ticket link.  The band travels back to the Bay Area for a stellar party up in the Napa Valley in June.  We return in time for another Venice West on June 15 and a HUGE Lake Mission Viejo show on June 22.

Glad you asked because we’re saying goodbye to a wild 2023 and hello to new adventures and an awesome new year.  First up, we’ll be rocking a few Orange County dates including the NAMM show on January 27 at 5pm on the ADJ Arena Plaza Stage.  As well, you can find us playing world class yacht rock in 2024 at Tiki Bar in Costa Mesa.  Great intimate concert venue and brilliant energy there!  Importantly, get your tickets for our first local show of 2024.  Then, we head back to Stillwater where we began the Orange County yacht rock revolution in 2016.  We were the first yacht rock band in Orange County and still smooth sailing in our 8th year of existence.

In fact, yachty plays Stillwater on January 20.  As always, we look forward to an epic hometown crowd!  Moreover, look for us at Campus Jax in February and then Venice West on 2/9 and the Houston Rodeo for the cookout on February 23.  We really look forward to our first concert in Texas!  And, of all things, the Houston Rodeo.  Yacht Rock 2024 coming to the Heartland of America will be nothing short of SMOOTH!

Yacht Rock 2024 flashback

Importantly, we returned to Florida for a big corporate show in Orlando and then off to Napa, San Francisco yacht club party and so much more!  Summer 2023 saw us back at Sea Legs and a trip to Idaho.  In fact, Yachty by Nature played it’s share of awesome concerts in the park from Simi Valley to Laguna Niguel, RSM, and San Clemente and beyond.  Additionally, our show at the OC Fair in the Hangar was a packed house blow out and such a pinnacle for the band.  We continued to Discovery Bay, Lake Tahoe, Delta Coves again, and another show in Paso Robles.

Fall Flashback

Ultimately, we played some new venues like Mozambique in Laguna Beach, SLO Brew Rock, and Village Sports bar Big Bear.   Particularly, our sold out concert at the Coach House and a two nighter for Rava Wines in Paso Robles were super notable.  These were absolute home run yacht rock parties.  Let’s hope yacht rock 2024 will build on those awesome concerts.  In fact, November saw the band conquering new heights.

Yachty by Nature enjoyed a 3 show stint with concerts in Vegas on Thursday, Sacramento on Friday and Indian Wells on Saturday!  Importantly, the band rocked the Virgin hotel in Vegas for the Formula One Race from 12am to 4am.  The band took a short nap and then headed off to the airport.  Next stop, Sacramento for a super fun corporate show for the California Dental Association.  Moreover, we had some gas in the tank to rock the party for Indian Wells Country club that Saturday night.

I’m so proud of this band for persevering.  On top of everything, we had new talent with Becky Smooth, Jenny Smooth, and Niki Smooth on the vocals for those shows.  Lastly, we finished the year by playing a birthday party in Vegas for Corey Taylor of Slipknot.  Lots of great musicians in the crowd that night, like Scott Ian from Anthrax too!  In the end, we celebrated the holidays and then embarked for our cruise to the Caribbean.  Oh what a year it’s been.  A legendary wild ride with plenty of highs, lows, challenges, and successes.  A heartfelt thanks for your continued support, love, and appreciation.

Yacht Rock 2024 announcements

Hey, we’ll have a lot more to announce soon.  In the meantime, keep spreading the word, getting yachty, and having fun.  Tell a friend!  Bring a new sailor to our shows and keep pushing us for your new fave songs.  As always, we love adding songs to the repertoire in yacht rock 2024.  Accordingly, we listen to our fans and appreciate the feedback, posts, shares, and love.  For our last blog post , click here to check what else we’ve been posting.

Formula One Yacht Rock in Vegas!

Las Vegas comes alive on Thursday, November 16 with Formula One racing.  And Yacht Rock!  Yachty by Nature returns to Sin City for the first time since Covid 19.  In fact, the band was the very first in 70’s and 80’s smooth to establish a residency over at Top Golf from 2018 to 2020.  Importantly, we even played the Brooklyn Bowl in 2017 when the band was really taking off.  Yachty will join forces with The Spazmatics and Zowie Bowie at The Shag Room in the Virgin Hotel for nonstop fun around the F1 racing.  Moreover, Zowie Bowie kicks off the fun at 4pm, the Spazmatics at 8pm and then Yachty by Nature keeps you saying, “I’m on a Boat” at midnight.  The show is free and 21 and over.  It’ll be a night to remember as this Formula One yacht rock weekend leaves port!

Summer Sailing

We are so thankful for the amazing love and support for Yachty by Nature as the band will turn 8 years in 2024.  Oh, the places we’ve been.  This summer and fall have once again been a continued smooth pleasure cruise.  After heading to Lake Tahoe and the Sacramento River delta for Labor Day, we sold out the Coach House in San Juan.  What an electric night that was in September.  In fact, from the first note of Easy Lover to the staff urging Captain Carl to stop playing keytar on the dinner tables, the night was a raging success!

Ultimately, we capped off a beautiful summer cruise with a two night stand at Rava Wines in Paso Robles.  Super fan Ryan Glover spent his birthday with us and the sound at Rava was amazing.  The band caught fire both nights and we our Days of Wine and Roses for sure.  Thanks to our super fun Paso crowd for representing and dressing in the sweetest yacht rock attire.

Speaking of which, our recent shows have been a spectacle of Yachty outfits!  Take a look at our Instagram feed for some amazing parties with the most amazing clothes.  Additionally, Formula One yacht rock tonight in Vegas should be a show of these two great tastes that taste great together.  F1 and Yachty finally!  Our last two weeks have seen a couple school fundraisers where the parents dressed incredibly yachty.  It was a tutorial on how to dress for a yacht rock concert!  Yachty by Nature also ended another beautiful season of smooth with Sea Legs in Huntington Beach in October that brought another capacity crowd.  Our favorite venue and spectacular smooth songs on the beach with Scotty McYachty and Courtney Cruise crooning the incredible vocals!

New Year’s Virgin Cruise!

Yes, you heard it correct.  Yachty by Nature hops aboard their first Cruise…sorry Voyage, as Virgin calls it.  We’ll be playing for New Years Eve aboard the Valiant Lady .  The band is super excited about traveling to Dominican Republic, Puerto Rico, St. Croix and The Bahamas.  Ahoy is right!  In fact, we hope this will be the start of more voyages with Virgin.  From Formula One yacht rock and playing in Vegas at the Shag Room to a cruise to the Caribbean… Virgin is getting Yachtyyyyyy!  Climb aboard our next shows in December and January.  Campus Jax on December 16.  Tiki Bar on January 13 and we’re headed to the World Championships of BBQ in Houston, Texas in February.  Looking forward to rockin’ the yacht with you!  As always, feel free to check our last post prior to this 🙂

SZA Holds Her Own in Handstand Contest With Simone Biles, Talks About Her Past as a Gymnast

Long before she was a Grammy-winning star, SZA competed as a gymnast in high school and lived out her "wildest dream" by chatting with the Olympic gold medalist.

SZA and Simone Biles linked up for some friendly competition ahead of the 2024 Olympics.

The Grammy Award winner, 34, met with the Olympic gold medalist, 27, in a promo video for the international sporting event uploaded on Monday.

“This is my dream to talk to you. I'm not even kidding,” gushed SZA to Biles. “I was so hype, because you're like my wildest dream. … I just have never seen anything like you. No one has, but it's just like, wow.”

Before the two engaged in a friendly handstand contest, SZA recalled being a former gymnast herself. When asked what made her pivot to singing, the SOS hitmaker said she made the choice “when it was clear” that she would not become “a national gymnast,” but still needed something “to be competitive at.”

“But you can't break a nail. You can't hurt yourself,” said Biles before getting upside down.

“I don't care about my nails. I'm scared to lose,” SZA replied.

Surprisingly, SZA held her own during their impromptu handstand competition despite almost knocking over Biles a couple times in the process. The video's titled "When SZA Met Simone – Part 1," so fans can likely expect more.

Before achieving music stardom, SZA spoke to Complex’s Insanul Ahmed in 2013 about her time as an athlete and how the grueling nature of sports inhibited her growth.

“I was a gymnast for 13 years so I was heavy into sports. I directed all my attention to it. I did really well in sports and was captain of my team. I was hardcore USA Gymnastics,” a then-23-year-old SZA told Complex. “When I was a sophomore in high school in 2005, I was 5th in the nation as a gymnast. The extreme exercise stunts your growth, you’re overexerting your body so much it doesn’t grow. Your period doesn't come till super late. So I was like 4’9’ forever. Once I got lazy and didn’t want to practice and got into other shit, I grew. Now I’m 5’4'.”

As fate would have it, SZA’s stint as a competing athlete led her to the musical influences that have made her the star she is today despite her conservative upbringing, thanks to a mixtape from a friend and an iPod she found at a gymnastics camp.

“I was raised orthodox Muslim. Very sheltered, very conservative. I used to wear overalls and baggy clothes because modesty is a big thing [in Islam]. All my friends were Muslim with the exception of my neighbors,” SZA told Complex. “I didn’t watch television or listen to the radio. When I was cheerleading and doing gymnastics, my dad made me put on leggings and long sleeves. I was a girl so my dad was like, ‘You do nothing.’”

She added that her “only option” growing up was to listen to the music her father did, which included Miles Davis , Billie Holiday , and Louis Armstrong . 

“One of my classmates had a bar mitzvah, so my dad let me go. She gave us this little goodie bag that had a mixtape that had Red Hot Chili Peppers , LFO , Macy Gray all this emo sad rich white kid shit on it. I loved that CD, I played it until it was finished,” she said in the 2013 conversation with Ahmed.

SZA continued, “Other than that, the slight glimpses of outside music came from this iPod I found in gymnastic camp. The dial didn’t work, but it would play all the way through. It had Common , Björk , a lot of Wu , Nas , Mos Def , Hov on it. That was my only thing and I was like this shit is tough. That stuck hard.”
